Well, the thing is, TFS is one of the biggest abridging groups out there, and a popular content creator on Youtube. I don't think Youtube would show the same kind of support to a newbie group of abridgers.

Also depends on what's being parodied. Some companies are more lenient than others.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.

Yeah, and Toei definitely isn't one of them. I think another big part of the reason they stopped making the series is because they kept having fights with Toei.

That's why they "were" going to change to the ShortZ format.

Is there anyone else? The only other people I've seen was the Project Voicebend people, and they disappeared a while ago.

I wonder what this means for hbi2k. He left over creative differences with the company, but were those differences ever made known? Like, did he want TFS to be more serious, or did he want it to be more comedy abridging stuff? Because this could lead to him rejoining if he wanted TFS to move away from abridging.

The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

I think I remember it being that Ben wanted them to do more abridging work, while the rest of the company wants to move away from abridging and towards creating their own original animation products.

But I could be mistaken.

Yeah, it turns out that Ben and the rest of TFS just really want different things. No one is wrong here.

[up][up]Ben wanted to do more serious stuff while Lani and Kaiser (maybe Taka but Taka pretty much said he wasn't gonna do any new abridging stuff beyond what he was already doing) wanted to stick with comedy so yeah, it's a case of two parties just wanting to do different things.

Yeah, going by what we saw in the article he posted or whatever he thought that they were going too far up in the quality scale or something like that.

More like he was more interested in community-building than media creation and wanted to focus on different things than the rest of the team.

Gonna be honest, there are less people unsubscribing then I expected. At 300 thousand views and only about 10,000 unsubscribes so far.

Also yeah, want to give both of them a hug.

You can tell DBZA means a lot to him. The fact that one of the reasons they stopped was because they might start to hate and resent it is a testament to that.

[up][up][up] could be that a lot of people just don't bother unsubscribing. I'm one such person, I don't think I've unsubscribed from anything despite the fact that most are now channels I don't watch

Hell, I created another Youtube account rather than unsubscribe from all the channels I had in my older one.

I was never subbed to their main channel because of the slow updates. Now I've just unsubbed from StreamFourStar.

I do get where Ben is coming from, but I think the main problem with abridging is the way Youtube is now.

Youtube and frankly the sheer amount of effort it takes in general to make an actual high quality abridged series. SAOA may well be the best abridging out there, but each episode comes out at such a glaciel pace that it might literally be 2030 before it finishes the second season. Now part of that may be due to Something Witty Entertainment utilizing the entirety of each episode, and lacking the resources of TFS, but still.

Of course as I say that its entirely possible that things will change such that progress can become exponentially faster, but the current state of things is quite simply difficult.

I’m reminded of watching the 1st episode of that Kuroko no Basket abridged, loving it, & then being really sad that it’s only 1 episode despite appearing to have more.
