Vegeta's been revived by Shenron. He came back to life on Namek following the Shenron wish to revive everyone who'd been killed by Frieza and his men.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.No. That was Shenron. Porunga couldn't have granted that wish, because he was pegged to Guru, who was one of the victims of Frieza and his men brought back by that wish.
Porunga's granted wishes were
- Resurrect Piccolo.
- Bring Piccolo to Namek because we're all stupid.
- Send everyone from Namek except Frieza - and, I guess, Goku 'cause he's being stupid - to Earth.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.To be fair, if Goku had came as well Freeza would be free to scape the planet himself and eventually make his way to Earth and blow it up. Sure, then Goku could have fought and defeat him, of course, but that would be dangerous for the planet and all, and who knows when Freeza would actually show up? Might have been on a very inconvenient time. They had access to two sets of Dragon Balls, so it is not that much of a bad idea to let Goku defeat Freeza right there and then and just resurrect later. Of course, that wasn't, at all, Goku's reason for refusal, but still.
Frieza does that anyway, though.
- Goku: Leave me here on Namek so that I can end Frieza once and for all!
- Frieza: Oh, no! You're going to end me once and for all?!
- Goku: Nah, we cool. I just want you to feel bad that I pummeled you.
- Frieza: Oh. Well. Okay then.
- Goku: ...so, do you have any ideas for how to get off Namek? Planet's about to blow up and all. Might be about time to get going....

I mean, yeah. But if Goku was doing his job properly that could have been avoided.
I didn't say that was the reason Goku decided to stay. I explicitly said that was not the case, because it wasn't. But if it have been it wouldn't be a bad plan.
Basically, I think Goku made the right decision for a bad reason. And than fumbled the landing anyway making it overall just a stupid thing all round.

Yeah. Goku tries to quit the fight twice. He gives Frieza his, "We're done here, you're no threat to me, live with that," speech and tries to leave.
Frieza responds with kienzans and promptly stupids himself in half. While Goku's just like, "Seriously, bro?" Frieza begs for some energy to help him get by and Goku grants it to him and flies away.
Frieza, not having learned his lesson after already jamming the fork in the socket once, tries to shoot that energy Goku gave him back at him in a murder beam. Goku's just like, "SERIOUSLY, BRO?!" and counters it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Oh right. I forgot Vegeta was included in the revived by Shenron on Namek. My bad.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't think any of them knew Freeza could breathe in space at the time, though. Or does he exposition about that when he sets the planet to explode - the early parts of that fight always slip my mind.
If he doesn't, though, as far as any of them knew Freeza was screwed without a spaceship.
Dragon Ball!
But, yeah. Point is, Goku staying behind to settle things with Frieza doesn't really work out when Goku promptly decides not to settle things with Frieza and to just let bygones be bygones. The Heroic Sacrifice and the Cruel Mercy don't really mesh well with one another.
It's one of those moments where the Writing by the Seat of Your Pants shows.

So DBZA is over.
Buu Saga will be done entirely in their "Short Z" format
We're going to do a full, in-depth video on this soon, but...
Episode 60 is the ending of Abridged proper.
The Short Z are the future of our Dragon Ball content, and if we do the Buu Saga, it'll be in the style of the Short Z.
We talked about it here: https://youtu.be/JNyMvdRANYw?t=2123
Yeah, they've been talking about that for a while now. Part of the purpose for the Dragon ShortZ is building assets, which are then inteneded to be used for the Buu arc.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I mean, a lot of things can happen when time passes. Bojack Abridged was planned until the actual writing for it made them scrap it completely (well there's a possibility for either Kai or Shortz version but we're not there yet) because while it's a good movie for fight scenes, it's a terrible movie for conversations with the villains.
Burning love!If Majin Buu is in the "maybe" pile, then the movies are in the "don't get your hopes up" pile.
Besides, the decision not to do Bojack had nothing to do with the footage available and everything to do with the team deciding that there was nothing to work with in the actual content.

Yeah, though that was only in Future Trunks' timeline.
It's the reason they weren't able to wish anyone back...or at least not Tien and Yamcha, who are the only two who could have been wished back by the Earth balls at that point...oh and Vegeta I guess. Forgot he's never been revived by Shenron too.
One Strip! One Strip!
