So it serves some kind of warped narrative purpose?
That's neat>>>

....pretty sure he was just toying with her PMC.
Though her being able to break his neck is an outlier I’ll admit.
One Strip! One Strip! That didn't happen until it was Gohand's turn to fight either Spopovich or the other one.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Oh, look. Shifting ahead the event to Gohan's fight still keeps the purpose of Videl vs. Spopovich serving nothing more then to anger Gohan.
Point still stands.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Look, I'm going off the wiki right now.
1. Videl is beaten to a pulp by Spopvovich, which angers Gohan enough that he turns into a Super Sayian and swears revenge against Spopovovich. Spopovich is willing enough to go this far because she's the daughter of Satan and he despises him.
2. Gohan goes to fight Kibito. Kibito urges Gohan to transform into a Super Saiyan, which Gohan complies, even going beyond into Super Saiyan 2.
3. Spopvovich and Yamu take Gohan's energy and bugger off.
4. Bibibdi takes the energy and wipes away Spopvovich and Yamu.
It really accomplished nothing in the story except angering Gohan. The Super Saiyan transformation that Spovovich and Yamu took advantage of came because Kibito asked him to become a Super Saiyan, not because Gohan tried to rush Spovovich in his rage.
I'm 40% sure Hinata got better then that from Pain in that her brutalizing to anger Naruto wasn't as prolonged and agonizing.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. No, it happened in the ring. It's how we're introduced to the whole "energy absorbing to resurrect Majin Buu" concept. Spopovich and Yamu jump Gohan right after he transforms to Super Saiyan 2 and use this weirdass thing
to suction out all of his energy.
Kibito also freezes Gohand in place so that they could easily take the energy.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Videl vs Spopovich's point is effectively to be the conclusion of the high school arc and the true introduction to the Buu story: basically, it's the Mood Whiplash that establishes the relative tone for the arc going forward.
It's like the revelation that Gingertown was wiped out and the androids likely had nothing to do with it. Suddenly the whole tone is jarred into something different, and the audience is shocked into anticipation.

Now where's my cake? I was promised cake. I mean, I hate cake but I want it anyway.
I apologize for the tone but that is what it was.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Nobody said it wasn't Fridging.

Sorry for the paranoia, I've been on the internet enough to be cynical enough to not take anything as so clear that nobody will ever argue against it.
Here, have a Big Green. It's on me.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Too bad Kakarrot doesn't break his neck, that would've been perfect.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I have a big collection of VHS tapes recorded back in the day. When I was little my mom used to record me stuff like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Captain N and the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. When I got older I recorded stuff on my own. I was going through these old tapes and I came across a bunch of old Beast Wars stuff, and one tape had the first three DBZ movies, and the two television specials from when they were broadcast on YTV. One commercial that kept coming up was the ad for the very first Spider-man movie, so that should give you a time frame for when this was recorded. I remember YTV aired these movies and specials one a week, at about at the point when the series introduced androids 16, 17 and 18. Also, at no point in any of Bardock was anyone's power level mentioned. Not Bardock's or his crew's or Dodoria's or Vegeta's. Bardock does mention that baby Kakarot has an "average power level," but no number is ever given.

Also, Videl vs Spopovich was a back-and-forth. Videl started the fight absolutely dominating him, even dealing a potentially fatal blow by snapping his neck. It was only after Spopovich reset his neck that the fight started to sway in his favor, and that was because Videl was getting tired while Spopovich just kept going.
Videl totally had the higher Power Level there, by a significant margin, but Spopovich had limitless stamina and the ability to not be affected by damage, so he managed to wear her down to the point where she was barely capable of fighting back.
Actually, that fight makes for an interesting microcosm of the Buu Saga as a whole, since Buu's stamina and regeneration is consistently the thing that allows him to outlast and defeat opponents who should be able to beat him.
