I think it's an exaggeration to say it "nearly killed them". They beat the snake pretty easily without even going Super Saiyan. It's just the fact that said snake put up something even slightly resembling a fight that people object to. To which I say: it's a cartoon and they're stupid kids. The drama of the episode was keeping the snake from destroying a jar filled with hot spring water, it was inherently a lighthearted episode. Chill.

For a second I thought Buu Arc.

That same snake actually did appear near the end of the Buu arc.

I really don't think anyone was getting heated over this, except maybe Pushover's response if anything.

It's just a dumb anime scene that really can't be explained, but it's fairly trivial for the anime.

I just want to make sure, the joke about Piccolo was Kaiserneko venting his frustrations over Lanipator's coke problem, right? Reality Subtext, that kind of thing?

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

Reality Subtext? I haven't heard anything about Lani having an actual coke problem. Is that a thing?

I just took them to be making fun of the idea that this show is clearly made on drugs. It was a fourth-wall breaking look into the worst possible interpretation of how the show gets written, devolving into a hilarious slapfight.

Probably because Lani is snorting coke in the Live action clip.

I don't think they were referring to an actual history of coke abuse...i think

Honestly it just made me think of the Maximum Overdrive episode of How Did This Get Made?, where one host imitated Stephen King doing coke while coming up with a scene much the same way seen in the Kai ep

[up] One of the tidbits in the episode (which I initially posted but edited out) was that Stephen King apparently came out later and admitted he was so high on cocaine when the movie was in production he sincerely does not remember even making it.

Watching the clip of Goku punking Jiren with Instant Transmission/Destructo Disk I realize - this is my favorite moment in the TOP.

That Goku both had to go for a ringout, and stole Krillin's technique makes it even better.

I wonder if Piccolo has ever used it.

I just had the most bizarre mental image of Marron riding a Destructo Disk, while Krillin and 18 just watch wondering how she learned to do that.

There was an episode of GT where Goku rode Frieza's Death Slicer like it was the Nimbus while holding a stalactite like it was the Power Pole.

In the Big Green dub, everything was a Kamehameha.
