Characters like Ten and Yamucha staying around should be based on scale...since this series is based around fighting.
At least Yamucha retired and is just a goof.
Kriller is the best friend, it makes sense he's still around.
Ten is a stoic.
Chaozu is just Ten's +1 (which makes 11).
If their character can't contribute even when not fighting, they serve no purpose.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.He was kind of that already.
The way he screams (in the dub) at Jackie Chun to stop from seemingly killing Kakarrot is Hilarious.
And he was afraid of girls.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.kind of a random question, but how old in average is the dragon ball footage they use in abridged ?
Cause it recentely hit me that this shit I assume must be something like 20-30 years old, while dated in style, looks better in terms of animation and drawing consistency than things like the ace attorney or persona 5 anime. At least to me.
I get the fact it's an abridged and they probably handpick the shots that doesn't try to gouge your eyes out, but still.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."It's actually really bad.
You'd never know through editing magic.

If they did I never noticed.
So random thought: Toriyama equates writing females with writing romance. He assumes that having a girl be important means there has to be some romance, hence why women rarely have roles in combat. Since he's bad at writing romance, he keeps the number of women involved to a minimum.
I mean, nearly every female has some connection to romance:
- Bulma is searching for the dragon balls to get a boyfriend;
- Chi-chi comes back into the plot to marry Goku;
- 18 starts off doing her own thing, but is turned into a reward for Krillin;
- Videl is ultimately there to get beat up to anger Gohan, and then she marries him;
- Good grief! Mai from the Pilaf gang is brought back into the plot so that she can become Trunks' girlfriend (and that one still pisses me off).
There's also the fact that there are almost no female Super Saiyans until Cauliffa and Kale, and it was Toei who were responsible for the former, with the latter being made as a literal afterthought on Toriyama's end. And this was after the whole there can't be female Super Saiyans because they don't get mad enough or whatever excuse he came up with.
So yeah, he thinks having females means having romance. Or at least, that's my incredibly dumb theory on the matter. Feel free to discuss, dissect and explain why I'm full of shit with impunity.

I mean, if that's how you feel fine. But I feel like people forget its Toriyama's stort and not theirs.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
