You might already be familiar of the scene where Vegeta beats the shit out of Gohan and flies off after they're teleported to Earth from Namek. Next episode he's just back and helps them figure out how to word their dragon ball wishes, and Gohan goes up to thank him and try to shake his hand. It's fucking hilarious.
See, this is a big reason why Toei's filler is often bad beyond purism: They Just Didn't Care.

You know, it's actually hilarious how badly Pilaf had them over a barrel considering he's literally the weakest antagonist Goku ever fought.
I gotta give that to Toriyama: you'd never expect someone like him to almost win. I kinda wish that instead of him becoming an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain, this had kept up.
Imagine the worlds strongest man continually getting stumped by some short blue imp? Now that would have been subverting expectations.

Like, do we have a reason to think that the sleeping gas wouldn't work anymore?
Or that there's a difference in Vegeta's physiology from Goku's and somehow it wouldn't work on him?
So, call me crazy but honestly my favorite fight is from Dead Zone.
It has a lot of fun moments (and Krillin getting peed on) but at around 5:11 the fight and animation gets AWESOME.

It's also probably the only time in Dragonball that you have a fight where both sides have weapons. Like, aside from Trunks using his sword and Goku using the power pole as a kid, you never see weapons in Dragonball.

Yeah. I don't even need to look at the video to know what scene that video is from.
Garlic's two minions with their swords vs Goku with the Power Pole was great.
Considering his eventual phasing out of weapons as a whole (barring Trunks' sword as mentioned, which wasn't much good beyond killing Freeza), maybe they just aren't something he cares for.
Edit: the earlier stage of the fight when he's fighting all three before Krillin and Piccolo arrive was also good.
Also, I forgot that weapons were a thing, but it mostly went the same way: Enemy would pull out a sword or something, Goku would pull out the power pole and disarm them (knocking the weapon away or breaking it) and then back to fists.

Yeah, obviously the weapons are the best part, but the whole scene is just pretty great.
I also really like the end of Piccolo's fight, he just haymakers the guy through his guard and nonchalantly finishes him off with a ki blast. It's delightfully brutal.

Given their focus on "well animated", I guess it is fair to assume it is all based on the anime, yes. Can't comment much there, haven't watched the anime in ages and, in general, just don't like its pacing pretty much never (including Kai).
Anyway, I am kinda surprised they thought this was a surprise? It is a great fight! Honestly, I am kinda expecting all the finals to be here, except maybe the Piccolo one.
I looked up the Japanese version of that fight and they weren't kidding about its quality
. It's weird how today Super can just dub the OP and ED songs no problem but back then they couldn't use the Japanese soundtracks.
I used to see DB'Cember thumbnails in my suggested lists but never bothered to watch any of them until now. So TFS does 12 of these and they put Goku vs Roshi at the top. Do they include the movies?

Not sure why I seem to like the first rounds of so many fights, but eh. I rank Yamcha vs Tien so high partially because I just rewatched it, and partially because I really like the way that fight was animated for some reason.

The last time they blew up the moon, though, God painstakingly restored it only for it to get blown up again. He might have just decided it wasn't worth the effort of replacing if Earthlings are just going to be so irresponsible with it.
This is why we can't have nice things.

DB will never allow a fight to be settled with anything other than brute power...with a few exceptions obviously.

Like. I was rereading the manga and rewatching the original Dragon Ball anime side-by-side recently
(to write fanfiction
#shameless plug)and I noticed some Bullshit.Like. Okay, so, Pilaf's castle, the gang follows arrows on the floor, reach a dead end, a wall slams down to close off the passage behind them, they're trapped.
Well.
In the anime, Pilaf starts playing piano and this chase sequence with a giant pinball machine happens, and they get chase around for a whole episode, until they end up at the same dead-end and the same wall slams down.
Happens again after Muscle Tower.
Goku's at Suno's, they talk about the Dragon Radar being busted, they decide to visit Dr. Frappe, who made Android 8, (Who's Gero?) they kill Ninja Murasaki again, Frappe can't fix the radar.
The very next episode, Goku has the same fucking conversation about the Radar being busted. Word-for-word, line-for-line, they recreate the same panels of the manga, I honestly thought I was having a stroke, or Amazon messed up putting the episodes on Instant Video.
