Maybe it'll be another Christmas special. Trunks restores Christmas to the future by defeating the Androids and ending their holiday humbuggery forever.

At season's end, he somehow manages to vomit up Android 18 despite not having consumed her orally.
Coincidence or early bird foreshadowing?
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. Also, on an unrelated note, TFS has ruined my brain for Dragon Ball. XD
I play Dokkan Battle, a mobile collect-em-all game where you get cards of characters to fight with, and one of my cards is a Perfect Cell who uses the Makankosappo for his special attack. Every time he fires it, I hear "Ma! Kanko! Sa! CANNON!!!" in my head.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I mean, I definitely hope that some day that they can become the understudies for some of the Funi guys, because their voices are amazing.
...Like, people who say the Abridged version is better are wrong, but. They definitely have their moments and their better qualities, and the voices are one of them.
For example, I'm not sure I'm sold on on MasakoX's Goku, but his Gohan?
...Especially compared to the adult women that play him. Including the original Masako. Ms. (Mrs? I genuinely do not know) Nozawa. -San? I shouldn't have used the English titles but fuck it.
Like, with Episode 60. The fact that they were able to get Spirit vs. Spirit/Unmei No Hi, and the way Kaiser edited the Super Saiyan 2 transformation were better than either Funi dub. And, better than the original Japanese Anime to me if only because I could understand it without needing to look at subs.
I really liked the version of Cell's death and the Final Kamehameha too.
Like. It's a little silly, because Taka's Cell, as Perfect as it is, cannot be taken seriously. Neither can can Masako's Goku and. I mean, I like this Gohan better than the Funi dubs, but the Funi dubs of Kid Gohan are universally awful so. Not saying a lot.
Gohan's voice doesn't become. I'd say good, but really I mean tolerable. Until the Funi Buu Saga.
And, anyway, of course, they still used lines like "Eat that horse!"
...But. Like, I weirdly liked the change of it being Piccolo and not Goku that got Gohan to power up? And. It's not a "Gohan's real dad" thing either.
It's not a "Gohan's dad" thing at all or even slightly. Lani's "Kill em' Runt" creates an emotional distance there that's appropriate.
Like. For all Goku's flaws, I can imagine him smiling and laughing and playing with his children. Being emotionally available.
He's dumb and braindamaged, so whether he can actually help with a problem is a different story, but. Like, he likes hugs and he likes naps and he likes telling stories and. Smiling. That's important. People are mirrors, and children especially so. Having someone around that is capable of. Really, any emotion at all, but especially the positive and uplifting ones can be a big deal.
Piccolo and Vegeta get better and they way they are with Pan and Bra in Super is amazing, but. There's a wall there.
But even with that wall, that doesn't make the relationship or the care that is there invalid either. Piccolo encouraging Gohan specifically in the context of murder is. Well, it works.
But it's still Goku that has to give Gohan the final push. Emotionally.
...And I like Goku not being able to reach Gohan at first because of King Kai and Yenma being bitchy. I adore how salty King Kai is in Super. He could tolerate it and make peace with it in the Buu arc, because Goku was dead too. But Elder Kai gave his life to bring Goku back, then Elder Kai came back with the "good person" wish even though he's a ridiculously gross pervert.
King Kai being at his saltiest and pettiest both immediately after his death and in Super later after everything else is undone works for me and I love it and adore it and I will fight anyone over it.
...And I love the You Say Run version.
I love their composition of Piccolo's theme, Spirit v. Spirit and Gohan Angers too, but.
But goddamn Kaiser's editing.
...Is it wrong to say that I like DBZA better than Kai just because Kaiser edited out Caroni?
Like. Kai was supposed to be more faithful to the manga but it still left that shit in!
Now instead of an original anime version and a manga version, we have three versions! Why Toei!?
Kaiserneko did it, by himself, with only a copy of Adobe Premiere and After-Effects to his name, and he's not a multi-million Dollar Japanese Animation studio!
...Admittedly, apparently there's footage or audio recorded by one of the guys somewhere of him crying because of how difficult and miserable and time-intensive the process of him editing them out was. But he did it! And the labor laws in Japan for animators are apparently terrible! I've heard! They're basically slaves! Again, I've only heard!
Goku saying "You're better than me" and then Gohan's power exploding, almost by accident, with Gohan in shock and surprise, is one of my favorite things possibly ever. Like, the footage Kaiser used there is Perfect. Gohan seems almost like he goes slack, relaxed, like he let go of some tension or weight or anxiety he didn't even know he had he looks so surprised. The surprise gets to him so much it overrides whatever part of his subconscious is holding him back.
No matter whichever version is "better" that's still a fantastic moment. And the original will always, to me, feel lesser, diminished, for the lack.
It gets undercut a bit by Cell's "Whoa Nelly!"
and Goku's "I'm not even close to that strong -yet-" right after. Which is Why DBZA will always be the parody.
Like. Cell's surprised reaction could maybe even work if it wasn't Taka, (or even Damien Clark, between Xenoverse and FighterZ he sounds more and more by the year like Taka's Alucard fucked Plankton.)
A little bit of humor and wit could work with OG Dragon Ball, it had a sense of humor, but TFS is still always just on the other side of that line.
Cell's "two hands" line is a little too silly to take seriously as well, honestly. No matter who delivers it.
...Come to think of it, isnt Norio Wakamoto infamous for being a Large Ham? Like. In Kingdom Hearts, they had a character they wanted to be a "tragic, almost 'romantic-style' villain" but they just couldn't quite go all the way there with him because they accidentally cast Wakamoto and he can't do that sort of subtlety.
I think that's what I heard, anyway.
...Is that maybe another part of why Cell gets sorta shit on in Japan? I'm curious. Is he just too camp, trying to be serious and failing, without being as blatantly and openly silly as Buu?
...Anyway.
I absolutely love the abridged Father-Son Kamehameha, but the "You're better than me" bit in the middle is. I just love it so much.
Cell is a narcissist who sees everything else as food or entertainment. I'd say him being downright condescendingly mocking towards everybody else is fitting. Hamming it up to make himself feel more important.
Dude, he literally has one line in that entire video...how do judge anything from this?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. What are your favorite exchanges in the series? One of mine is Frieza and Cooler bitching at each other.
- Frieza: We're here to make this your last Frieza Day on Earth!
Cooler: *salty as hell* Seriously, it's always got to be about YOU doesn't it?
Frieza: Well that IS what Father said.
Cooler: He also said he loved us both equally!
Frieza: *wiseass tone* Well you know how fond Father was of jokes!
Cooler: And that's why he had you second, Punchline!
Here's mine. It's not funny but it's just really freaking cool on both ends.
Cell: Behind all that angst and ridiculous hair, there's a real fighter!
Trunks: And behind all that insufferable smarm is a dead man!
Cell: Trunks... you couldn't fathom the amount of dead men behind me.
The legend has returned. If speaking of an exchange rather than one liners (where those of the final flash take the win I think), I think it's that one. KRILLIN: (desperately) Wait! My turn! My turn! My turn!
NAPPA: Oh! (suddenly stops dead in his tracks)
VEGETA: What— Nappa, what are you doing?
NAPPA: It’s his turn, Vegeta. I have to wait for him.
VEGETA: (stammers in complete confusion while his nose starts to bleed)
NAPPA: You okay, Vegeta?
VEGETA: Yes just...just an aneurysm out of sheer stupidity...
NAPPA: Wow, didn’t think you were that stupid, Vegeta.
(Vegeta screams in frustration)
but seriously though, the final flash. PERFECT CELL: Oh, that's much better! I can actually feel that!
VEGETA: In mere moments... All you'll be feeling is OBLIVION!!!
PERFECT CELL: That, or disappointment. Go ahead...flip that coin. (cut to Vegeta forming an energy ball in palms)
[...]
VEGETA: FINAL FLASH!!! (fires a massive blast directly at Perfect Cell)
PERFECT CELL: Aw, how cute! He named it—OH, SHIT!!! (gets engulfed by the blast as it's seen travelling straight on into outer space)
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."

TFS Update
Apparently DBZA is getting something at the end of D Bcember. I'm gonna guess it's the Trunks special.
