At least until he finally goes through character development and becomes a lot less of a total Jerkass and more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
EDIT: Got Ninja'ed. This was meant for the page closer.

The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.Krillin being an odd duck is perfectly in character for him. He even pretended to be one to 16.
The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.I mean, Krillin is the closest thing to an antagonist the training with Roshi sequence had.
That and Roshi's perversion and Launch sneezing.
But I would definitely put Krillin more in the "rival" category even at first. Everyone else starts at villain before moving to rival.

Ten moved to rival for one fight...replaced by Yajirobe.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Also if the Nucleus is the core of Cell's being, and its in his head, how did he survive Goku vaporising the top of his body?
And if Any Cell of Cell's can regenerate him, why aren't there other Cells around from each time he's bled, or when 16 ripped off his tail.

Two answers:
1) Plot Hole.
2) It moved on it's own without Cell knowing.
As for the Z Warriors and their morality: Yamcha was a desert bandit who robbed and possibly killed people. Krillin was just a jerk. Tien was training to be an assassin, but we don't know if he hurt anyone in Manga canon (he did cause some shit in the anime however, and it comes up during his dragon ball hunt with Roshi), Piccolo and Vegeta...n'uff said. Buu is complicated, in that depending on which version, how aware he is of how wrong his actions are (and how much he cares) varies.
One Strip! One Strip!Tien breaks Yamcha's leg in the manga at the end of their fight, which is basically his Establishing Character Moment. It's clearly unnecessary since Tien had already basically defeated Yamcha by that point; so I wouldn't say Tien never hurts anyone in the manga.
Krillin is the least bad, but he's still a sneak and a cheat when we first meet him (and notably his heart is impure enough for him to fall through Kinton when he tries to ride it).

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Oh, there's no doubt he's a prick. The influence of Tao and Shen was strong, but it didn't take much to move him away from that, and while the anime adds a few more rotten stunts (like that dude he meets that he hurt while he, Roshi and Chiaotzu are hunting dragon balls), it's never made clear if he ever went beyond that.
For all we know, Yamcha could have a higher kill count.
One Strip! One Strip!True, though I'd argue that Yamcha took a lot less to move him away from evil - basically just getting a girlfriend - whereas Roshi has to make a concerted effort to redeem Tien in the 22nd Budokai.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Yajirobe didn't have to be redeemed.

I mean, Yamcha did attack to steal people's stuff. And kill them if necessary. If only by leaving them without any food, water, money, clothing, shelter or transportation in the desert.
