I might just be jaded because of Super but I still like Dragonball. More Goku sodomizing his opponents to victory, and less Vegeta blowing himself up but surviving and losing all of his power only to still have more power then getting beaten within an inch of his life but still having enough power to restore Goku's power.

But getting back on topic in regards to who should voice Buu, I think it should be someone completely new. Unless Takahata 101 can figure out a new accent or voice that doesn't sound like Cell or Alucard. Little Kuriboh, I've not heard any of his other characters besides Freeza so maybe he could do it. But Buu is kind of a Giant Space Flea from Nowhere so I feel like his voice should be somebody whose done minor parts before and isn't well-known in the series already/voice-acting community.

I like the Original Dragon Ball because everyone is a completely terrible and irredeemable person.

Honestly, the first time Goku meets Turtle is interesting as far as Goku's morality and selfishness goes. On the one hand, Goku wants to help Turtle just because Turtle needs help, with no expectations of reward.

On the other hand, Turtle has to convince Goku that turtles taste bad.

No, see, Turles is a lettuce or a turnip.

Turtle is a sea turtle.

Guess Krillin didn’t actually have a job during the Buu Saga & was just mooching off Roshi.

Going back to this, how does Roshi have money?

Like, I can imagine he steals cable. But he seems to have plumbing. And he can afford suits and ties and multiple pairs of sunglasses and those tacky Hawaiian shirts.

Kame House is a Capsule House, and I think he might be getting paid for the milk deliveries he makes his students do, but he doesn't seem to have a lot of students very frequently.

He's three hundred years old, what with the elixir of immortality, maybe he just has a lot of compound interest?

[up][up][up] Roshi has a submarine. Maybe he found a treasure vault in his youth and know has an endless amount of money.

Also paid extra to call it USS M'Dick

That 21st World Tournament Prize money.

Capsule houses always have plumbing though.

In the Anime there's sunken treasures around Kamehouse. Presumably Turtle can just fetch some once in a while.

Yeah, he totally has that money from 10+ years ago that was spent up the night he earned it on Karrot's appetite.

Kame-sennin's a hermit and like 300 years old or some shit, so I just figured he takes care of any home maintenance himself. He probably installed his own plumbing.

He lives on an island. It's not hard to get water. Drinkable water is another story, though....

We also know he won one prior to the 20th (Said to be the 13th I believe in supplementary material). Factor the interest on that prize money.

[up]We know Kamehouse is a capsule house (As Roshi moves it several times in the OG Dragonball). They ALL produce their own water and have their own plumbing. This is established early the first time we see Bulma deploy one and she has a shower scene. Heck, Capsule Corp camper vans do it, while in a desert (See Bulma meeting Yamcha).

The Tenkaichi Budokai that Kame-sennin won previously was probably when he was training Gohan and Ox King. I bet you he did the same thing with them that he did with Goku and Krillin. "We're going to a Tournament and I'm secretly going to win it to teach you a valuable lesson about complacency."

Speaking of Capsules, am I the only one who always found them insanely cool? Like sure, they make no fucking sense, but I always loved the idea of them. I also loved the rounded look of most Capsule stuff.

EDIT: Note that according to Gohan during the 25th Tournament, there's prizes for the first 5 places. So even if Roshi had one only one, any other he'd have participated and lost, he might still have gotten paid.

They really are aren't they? I think Toriyama has a thing for characters who're assholes (or massively selfish considering the direction he's trying to take Goku now). Gohan is one of the few main characters who isn't a horrible person in some way...and he got ditched as the hero.

That says a lot.

As I've said before, one of the biggest misconceptions about the Dragon Ball cast courtesy of the English dub is that these characters are a team of well-meaning superheroes who travel the Earth searching for wrongs to right and villainy to thwart.

When in actuality they're a violence-hungry alien with a good heart but heavily skewed priorities and a loosely-assembled cast of assholes and murderers roughly united by a shared love of getting punched in the face by him.

Plus Gohan.

Unrelated: something I really like about Gohan's Super-Duper Saiyan transformation is that it actually does appeal to the intellectual side of him as well as the heart. 16's appeal and Cell's subsequent crushing of his head are there just as they are in the other show, but TFS adds something.

"We both know he never had a soul." The nature of the artificial soul is a hotly contested topic, and we see Gohan's response in the bird imagery interposed over the scene just before he snaps. It's rather appropriate for his character that the thing that pushes him over the edge is not killing 16, but the callous dismissal that he was ever truly alive in the first place - a controversial intellectual topic.

Gohan's going to grow up with some very strong opinions about the value of artificial life.

The Z Fighters are truly a bunch of asshats.

It's not a surprise that grand majority of them are former villains.

If you only count Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Fat Buu.

Uub is a weird example but. Kinda?

But there's Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha and Chiaotzu.

And 17 and 18. 16 before he died.

Goku himself also sorta counts.

Goku, Yamcha, Krillin, Tenshinhan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Gohan.

All but two were antagonists and four of those five were straight up villains.

I mean.

Krillin is weird, he was morally a little bastard but he wasnt trying to kill Goku either exactly. Just beat him in training and learn more about martial arts.

Trick him and as a consequence starve him.

Should have clarified that i refer to the Z Fighters as the entire supporting group, families included.

Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, 17, 18 and Fat Buu used to be antagonists. Krillin and Yamcha also started as rivals but weren't that bad really.

And of course, Vegeta is the biggest asshat of them all tongue
