It's a real nice moment to see the characters say "screw sitting on the sidelines, if I'm going to die I'm going to die fighting" for once. Plus all the little speeches they give while doing it really help sell the sense of closure. Since this could have been the last bit of DBZA, I was expecting the scene since it's basically an easy way to tie up everyone's arcs. But ultimately they did that well enough anyway, and I suppose they wanted the focus to be on Gohan's struggle during the fight.
I think we can expect season 4 to be a nice blend of season 2 and 3 in terms of style , I think they'll play the farewell prince scene mostly straight because you know Lani wants to to that scene justice. Other than that I think they'll keep everything pretty silly. Fingers crossed for vegerrot, I don't care if it's a miss-translation or sounds stupid the villains are named after a Disney song and the names split more evenly. Plus it works as vegeta refusing to call him goku and goku not thinking it sounds dumb. Hey, I just now noticed that we didn't get a Nappa stinger.
Good point, I was honestly morbidly curious if they'dd do that gag considering the kamehameha was already used, the scatter kamehameha isn't a Call Your Attacks style move, and the destructo disc would have been... yeah...
But hey, book ends, krilin broke kame house himself this time.
So:
-
The bit with Hercule was rewritten to make his machismo a little more bearable? Like he was actually taking the credit to keep the people sated and not just out of greed?
- The Trunks special
will pad out some time with Trunks giving his personal account of the Cell Games, with him dubbing over the rest of the gang and Future Bulma scrutinizing his story.
- That dramatic finish was great
- Rewatching Cell's Way that song is pretty great
- I think they ran out of material for Popo
- I can't wait to see how they go from this smartass teen Gohan to the dorkier, more passive older Gohan
Can't wait to see how Season 4 handles Vegeta and Present!Trunks' relationship. Perhaps the latter winds up as an Overlord Jr. thanks to the former's "better" parenting?
EDIT:
Beating it, probably

For the trunks special, they could also grab some footage from the super flashbacks to pad it out. Recolor the scene where he gives present bulma the other time machine. And use the future buu stuff as credits. If they're feeling really bold they could even have goku black or future mai in the stinger. They have some things to work with that they didn't before. Only question is how much of it could work for what they plan to do.
Yeah, I thought part 1 was quite a bit funnier than part 3, so if they go back and change a lot I can't see it being an improvement. It feels like DBZA has been taking itself too seriously lately. Okay, episode time.
I don't have much to say. There are parts that were kinda funny. I still hate Dende. And man last week I held back from complaining about Nail and Kami still being around because they hadn't said anything in ages but no I guess they're still here. Go away.
I actually am fine with a lot of the stuff from Season 1 as well. I mean, sure the early stuff is a little rough, but once the Saiyans roll in, I think it finds its groove.
...I also agree that Dende is awful now. Especially his continuing to shit on Krillin...who you know, SAVED HIS GODDAMN LIFE.
Ungrateful little turd.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean I do think it's weird how they both have the exact same personality now.
This song needs more love.

It seems odd to acknowledge that their efforts amounted to nothing, while still calling it them having something.
