I think it's because Cell has all the memories of everyone else, so he can see things from their perspective, but he can't see things from Yamcha's perspective and can only look at him as a separate person. A separate person most of his components have known for years. Cell is Goku, and Piccolo, and Krillin, and Vegeta, and Freeza. Cell likes Yamcha because Cell isn't Yamcha.
for the record, i still hate the part where Cell isn't made of the DNA of the other fighters, but of their cells.
...and, yes, those cells would have their DNA, but.
According to the manga, and the understanding and terminology therein, Cell is very much not an exercise in gene splicing per se. More some sort of. I don't even know. Weird cross-contaminated petri dish thing.
I have no idea how all the different cells are supposed to work together. Like. Everytime he regenerates, the part that grows back should be 100% Namekian, because the Namekian cells can grow back with Namekian regeneration, but the other cells can't.
...Unless it's like how mitochondria were another organism that got incorporated into a larger cell by being absorbed, and all the cells of the donors are being held in some sorta. Super-cell.
EDIT: Also, Fighter Z has Frieza liking Yamcha and thinking he's the best-looking of the Z Fighters. So.
Really the only person in Cell's makeup that dislikes Yamcha is Vegeta, and it's not like Cell likes Vegeta much either.

Familiar posts!!!
It's also very true, Cell liking Yamucha makes very much sense...
It's probably the Veggie in him that still allows him to enjoy mocking him too...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Like, that's supposed to be a thing with Saiyans, apparently. As a species trait or whatever.
...Maybe their knuckles are an erogenous zone, that can only be stimulated by high impacts against someone else's face.
Granted, Gine, Tarble and Gohan don't quite have the fight fight fight thing, and the person who says it is an innate species trait is mainly Vegeta.
...Well, actually, Gohan is weird and debatable whether or not he has it, because it changes.
I headcanon it's because of trauma, frankly. He cuts loose and starts enjoying the fight and battle with Cell, and it gets his dad killed. So him being back to not liking it as much for the Buu saga honestly makes sense.

Gine is also Gohan's grandma.
Maybe it's recessive and skips a generation, I dunno.
...Wait if it's recessive then how. Wait, maybe it's like. It's recessive but on an exclusively Saiyan gene, and so he only has the one copy of it?
...If there's something that weirds me out about the way Cell and 16 talk about Gohan's pacifism and cowardice it'a that. In the manga and anime, when Gohan goes Super Saiyan 2, he swings hard in the other direction.
If I have a problem with Spirit vs. Spirit, it's that it's too heroic for what Super Saiyan 2 honestly is to Gohan at that point.

That's a really specific type of compliment, it's not just like saying "oh, look how smart this worm is for getting in my good side."
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. For the record, in the manga at least Cell is just Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Freeza, Cold, and "various creatures" (presumably cicadas and other insects). There's no human in him, or at least, nothing supporting the presence of human DNA. The Funimation dub is what gave him human DNA by saying he was part Krillin and Gohan. And the anime implied it by showing him using Krillin and Tenshinhan's techniques.

It may be safe to assume Toriyama doesn't really know anything about Genetic. Then again, neither do I, so I suppose I should re-name myself pot, if the bird man is willing call himself Kettle.
Huh. Didn't know that. And Fighter Z takes place after Resurrection F, so Yamcha is literally the only Z Fighter Frieza never met. Kinda funny how that works.

I don't know, it seems like the others only like putting him down...and hard. Tien especially is the second biggest dick to him after Vegeta...well, Bulma and Vegeta are probably tied.
Good to have you back Unnoun. Now that everyone's Aunt has returned, the world is as it should be...
Under the iron fisted rule of Handsome Rob
Yamcha's relationships with Tenshinhan and Krillin is interesting. Tenshinhan feels less like he hates Yamcha and more that he's disgusted at Yamcha's cowardice and acceptance of the new status quo, which highlights Tenshinhan's insecurities, so it feels like a bit of projection. Krillin and Yamcha argue sometimes, but only when heated. Outside of that, the humans do hang out together and most of their interactions are pretty genial.
It feels like Abridged Krillin and Tenshinhan don't dislike Yamcha so much as they are sometimes annoyed with him and argue with him. They're still friends.
Chiaotzu and Tenshinhan is like a weird cross between father/son, older brother/little brother, and a gay couple where one is super immature.
Actually, ever since the Mcdonalds joke, I don't remember them writing Chiaotzu as that immature. Most of the jokes with Chiaotzu after that point were about the humor of contrasting his child-like appearance with his emotional maturity, from him making ramen to telling Chi-Chi she'll die eventually to Roshi outright yelling in frustration "How old are you?!"
It didn't sound like frustration...
Just screaming...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. We kinda need to get the hang of basic genetics in school. Not knowing how our bodies work at a basic level is dangerous.
Cell as a genetic chimaera makes sense (although I could never get the relevance of having King Cold in). Super Saiyan having a biological explanation makes sense (if the giant monkey has one, the golden hairdo works with one as well), but using cells again is bad enough. Just use a gene and call it a day.
But alas, genetics and cancer tend to get this quasi-mystical treatment by writters. And we educators have trouble making it accesible, because we do not start the teaching from where we should.
I honestly have no idea what the fuck Freeza even is.
Like, he can survive the vacuum of space, and he's apparently somehow still alive even after Trunks diced him into cubes. But he doesn't have natural super regeneration like a Namekian or Buu, and still needs a healing pod chamber thing to stitch him back together.
Oh, I wish the manga and everything had said Cell was made of the genes of the warriors. But they kept saying "cells" instead. Consistently and constantly.
...I mean, if it had been genes, his name would probably be Gene.

Not sure, but somehow the joke of Cell seeming to have more respect for the one person who's not part of him (and who every other character shits on) is pretty funny to me.
I think it's just for Irony's sake.
It might also be the Goku part of him, since Goku being kind to him prevented Yamcha from committing suicide...though that may not be all that great considering how he's still taking near constant abuse from his friends.
Edit: Murasaki'ed on that last part.
