[up][up] I think he means the Human Extinction Attack is basically just approximately 1.5 billion little ki blasts fired from a very long distance. It's just like when Vegeta jobs except it kills the human race. It's not a specific attack so much as something Buu just did.

99% of attacks in Dragon Ball are just a thing that somebody did one time. It's only because of the video games that they all have names.

Did you know that Piccolo blocking Nappa's blast with his own body is a Super move in Xenoverse 2?

Remember when Goku arrives on Namek and Vegeta is like "Is he a Super Saiyan?" I recall him going into a myth about how they had a Super Saiyan centuries ago, but he blew up their planet. Does that mean that Vegeta isn't their original planet and they just moved there after their original homeworld got blowed up, or is this a dub only thing?

Actually, that apparently is a thing.

It's mentioned in the sub of Super as well that they originally lived on a planet called Sadal.

Yup. Their original planet is Sadala. Vegeta (formerly Planet Plant) is where they moved after they blew it up.

Cool. Wait, we were just talking about the ending to the Zamasu arc and I forgot to mention this: I have a theory why everything went FUBAR when Zamamsu dies. Zamasu killed all the other gods, which means that he's the last Kai in the universe. The he dies. What if the Kais are there specifically to keep the universe from coming apart at the seams and killing them all results in Gygas from Earthbound?

He killed his boss easy enough. And Beerus killed Zamasu in that other timeline. And then all the other Kais that Zamasu killed.

Future Dr. Gero found the optimal strategy for killing Son Goku. It was right there all along! The single most effective plan for killing Son Goku ever concocted:

Wait for him to die of natural causes.

IT'S BRILLIANT!

That wasn't exactly his plan though. It's just that he got lucky that Goku contracted a completely random disease...even if he both never knew it, and never got to enjoy it since he then died before he could take over the world.

Plus, Saiyans are apparently long lived, so that's not an option either. The only way to kill Goku is to either hope he catches a random disease (that he isn't immune to) or set up a situation where he gets himself killed.

Saiyans don't live long, they just stay in their primes for a long time than age rapidly when close to death. Which reminds me, Paragus in the new movie must be super old. Same with Nappa, since he had hair in his youth and was bald when we met him.

For those who aren't aware, there's a trailer out for the new Broly movie. Team Four Star put out a video talking about it.

They seem to think this movie is going to proclaim that Dragonball Minuus is canon, which really irks me. In Dragonball Minus Goku is three years old (and he looks even older than that), which is a contradiction of his origin story, where he was found as a BABY by Gohan. Toriyama can't keep anything straight.

mod hat on

Now what did I just say about this thread getting off-topic? Why is it so unreasonable to just stop discussing anything not related to TFS or the Abridg-

Team Four Star put out a video talking about it.

Oh gahd-dammit.

mod hat off

They seem to think this movie is going to proclaim that Dragonball Minuus is canon, which really irks me.

I'm indifferent about anything being canon at this point. Why is anyone concerned with what's canonical at this point when Xenoverse and Heroes and Fusions and Kale exist? We're literally viewing two different versions of Dragonball Super with neither being absolutely canon, only fans preferring one version over the other.

In Dragonball Minus Goku is three years old (and he looks even older than that), which is a contradiction of his origin story, where he was found as a BABY by Gohan. Toriyama can't keep anything straight.

Precisely why it doesn't irk me. Toriyama may be a Trolling Creator but at least he seems to enjoy filling in gaps over being painstakingly consistent and hating his life. And at the end of the day his decades-old franchise is more tonally and narratively consistent than Detective or Marvel Comics with their army of writers and artists.

I used to absolutely hate Minus, but I like parts of it, like Jaco trying to intercept Goku and Gine being his mom. The only things I'd really change are Bardock's personality and Goku's age when he landed.

"And at the end of the day his decades-old franchise is more tonally and narratively consistent than Detective or Marvel Comics with their army of writers and artists."

Do you think that perhaps we should compare Dragonball to other properties that only have one creator rather than a property that has dozens?

Because more creators makes it emphatically more difficult to keep consistent, not the other way around.

Well between the anime, GT, Super, and the Super Manga there are definitely dozens of writers involved in this franchise.

If you're counting the anime, GT, Super anime, movies, etc. then no, the series is not more consistent than other long-running media. In fact, the anime is so bad at being consistent even to itself that it sometimes can't even remember what it just established five minutes ago.

If you're not counting them, then you're kinda cherry-picking facts to support a desired conclusion.

I saw this tweet today and it got me thinking: what if this was Broly's motivation in the new movie?

That was actually my theory before the villain was even revealed to be Broly: that the new Saiyan would attack Goku and Vegeta because he saw them as traitors to the Saiyan species for bringing Freeza back to life. I actually kind of hope it is part of his motivation, because it would be a neat Nice Job Breaking It, Hero moment that would highlight all the other times Goku has spared an evil person out of a selfish desire to fight them again. Hell, my idea even had the climax of the film be Goku fusing with Freeza, as a sort of counter-argument that turning powerful enemies into friends means you now have powerful friends. Not sure if that ending would work, but it might be fun to see.
