And opinionated jerks named Handsome Rob who think the series should be what they want it to be.
Not that I know anyone like that.
One Strip! One Strip!Gohan ended up becoming a scholar, but I don't recall him once being interested in study prior to the Cell games/Saiyaman timeskip. It felt like every time he was hitting the books it was because his mom made him.Yet in Super Trunks says that becoming a scholar had always been his dream. That was Chi chi's dream. When did Gohan ever want that? And no, when Bulma first met Gohan asks him what he wants to be when he grows up doesn't count, because Gohan was clearly just repeating what his mom told him.
I'd say Gohan wasn't written very well as a kid, but yeah, he was clearly supposed to actually prefer studying over training. Far as I can remember, him telling Bulma that was the only time that was ever mentioned. He only actually got mad at his mom once, and that was when he insisted on going to Namek.
In fairness, if you told me that by age 11 Gohan had had enough of saving the world and wanted to become a scholar I would believe it.
Not everyone has their life planned out at age 11.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Oh, I like that. Maybe as a kid, Gohan only studied because his mom told him to, but after the fight with Cell he doesn't want to fight anymore and wants to live a relatively normal life, deciding that academics are better than fighting a giant bug man and watching your dad die.

Also, at that point, Gohan was the most powerful mortal in the universe, and there was seemingly no threat that would require the level of power he dished out when he fought Cell, so it made sense for him to think there was no reason to keep up the training.
He couldn't have seen Buu coming (because no one did).
One Strip! One Strip!Gohand didn't help out much during androids, despite training...he wasn't in the action.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Because Goten grew older and school just becomes more necessary as that happens. Also, the two most major moments of that are when she tells him to study because he has a test tomorrow (understandable) and when she tells him that he can't leave with his father for months on end on a whim to go training (also understandable, especially if it doesn't even overlap with any school breaks).

That's a pretty likeable thing to do.
As far as I can tell, Gohan never wanted to practice martial arts either. He only felt that he had to in order to protect his friends.
This song needs more love. The problem with people's stance on that, is that they don't acknowledge the fact that Gohand is completely fine with fighting...
Like no scared, no more...
