He'll probably care. TFS doesn't usually shy away from the big drama moments. They slice some jokes into them but they still play them for the drama they're worth.

Like, was Trunks actually supposed to have survived that? Was Yamcha's statement supposed to make Vegeta look stupid for overreacting? I hope TFS does some wacky stuff with that line, like having Trunks just barely be alive throughout the beam struggle and adding his own commentary.
"I have this feeling... that I've never felt before... grief over someone else. It's a new feeling. Unfortunately, it's drowned out by all of this UNYIELDING RAGE!"
and when Vegeta interrupts Cell with the Galick Blazer at the last moment:
"That... was for... ma son."
or, alternate version:
"Va...Vegeta! What are you doing? Thwarting my plans?" "Thwarting your plans?" "ARE YOU?" "You know what? Yes."

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"That line sounds like something the localizers would throw in to avoid explicitly acknowledging characters dying. Sort of like "they blew up a cargo robot!" or "he was sent to another dimension".
That shot totally kills Trunks. Then Cell pops up and he's like, "Ha! Nailed it! Who'd I hit? Tien? Vegeta?"

It's dangerous irrational within the context of Cell wanting to murder the Earth.

Unless Goku intended for Gohan to kill Cell from the start, in which case it's basically Goku imposing his own thrill for fighting upon Gohan, yeah.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The point made in the video I linked was that Goku knew Gohan was the only one who actually stood a chance of beating Cell, but only if Cell actually pushed him. Cell could've recovered in a short bit from the injuries anyway, but would only push Gohan if Cell himself actually felt pushed. My assumption here is that otherwise, Cell would win a war of attrition against the Z fighters.
Of course we know from hindsight that Gohan needed more of a push than Goku knew, which resulted in 16's death, and even then his lack of great responsibility with his great power meant Goku's death too.
Remember..losing energy due to fatigue isn't that big of a deal in this series.
He would've still dealt with them just as easily as before...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Had Cell not interrupted when he did, fatigue would have been the deciding factor between Piccolo and Android 17. They were equally matched, but 17's infinite energy generator made the difference.

I actually am kind of curious as to whether they'll make Vegeta respond to Trunks' death with more than his typical assholeness.
