I meant that they have characters (Goku) who can either pop between realms of life and afterlife, or allies that'll just bring people along for the ride when necessary (Shin, Beerus).
On another note:
Ocean dub.
Funi dub.
That reminds me of LittleKuriboh's audition for Ginyu.
The guy can do a lot of different voices, but Captain Ginyu is not one of them. He sounds almost exactly like Butch from Pokemon.
I could've sworn his voice was much different.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The character's voice was referenced above. I/we was trying to keep the joke going without explicitly stating what it is.
I shouldn't, but I kind of wish one of these days the dub would "accidentally" misname Dr. Nambha as Dr. Nambla
, for a bit of humor.

Man, I love Trunks's themes and dramatic moments when he's fighting Cell and Android 13. I was never too fond of Trunks - I didn't dislike him, mind, I just didn't have a strong opinion of him - but the Abridged series is really selling me on the character.
It's weird. I kinda wish he got to be more successful than he usually is, and yet at the same time, I recognize that he probably wouldn't be as well-liked if he was. Trunks is a miracle of a character, in that he is a character who would be so easy to do wrong. He shows up out of nowhere with weird hair and a nonsensical family connection to what, at the time, is basically a Crack Ship between two established characters. And also he's a Super Saiyan. And a time traveler which lets him nerd out about some of the protagonists. And the main villain instantly jobs to him while everyone stands around shocked at how awesome he is.
If a fanfiction author had created Trunks, cries of "Mary Sue" would be heard around the world, is what I'm saying.
But with Trunks, it actually works, and a large part of it is that for as cool as he is, he's largely ineffectual. What happened with Frieza gives him a solid opening, but then it never happens again. Goku arrives shortly after to reassert the status quo with a quick bout of sparring tat is as hilarious as it is kinda humiliating. From there, Trunks slips comfortably into place with the other supporting characters, being a cool dude who gets neat fights here and there, but who never straight-up solves the plot again.
He carries his weight with all the other characters, and he gets dunked on both socially and violently about as much as anyone else not named Goku or, for the duration of only this one arc, Gohan. It's made clear very quickly that this isn't his story and he's not the hero, and that allows him to become a welcome presence rather than an intrusive Scrappy.
I'm sure we've talked about this before, but I'm listening to the Abridged series at work and it just warrants noting that Trunks really is a standout character for the way he managed to become a fan-beloved favorite with an archetype that nearly always inspires revulsion.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.![]()
Thank you for using the phrase "dunked on". And yeah, Trunks really should have been a Mary Sue, but I can't bring myself to hate him.
Weirdly, the timeline was automatically different... in the main timeline, 19 and 20 were made factoring everything up to Goku's first revival in the Saiyan saga, but are somehow stronger than 17 and 18 in Future Trunks' timeline where they either don't exist or were destroyed earlier than what would have been their debut.
Also, I just noticed the channel in your sig. Do you mind giving me (either here or PM) a brief rundown, or maybe a favorite video?

Nearly instantly too.
- Trunks: I did it! I'm the hottest shit around!
- Goku: Nope.
- Trunks: Oh. ...well, I had a good start, so I can at least just start jogging to keep up, ri—
- Goku: Nuh-uh.
- Trunks: ...I'm never going to be relevant again, am I?
- Krillin: Welcome to the team!
It also helps that Trunks has the history of Trunks as a backstory, which is right up there with Bardock Father of Goku as one of the best things the Anime ever did.
Trunks should suck, but he's just so well executed that it never really feels like he does. It helps that he's largely pragmatic yet still realistically hindered by his lack of experience without being made to look like a total idiot.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"- Cell: By your age, Goku had defeated an entire army, several demons, and sent a rabbit to the moon.
- Trunks: ...did you make that last one up?

You think at some point they would wish for a way to revive people outside the dragon balls.
