Regarding Super talk here: Keep in mind this whole discussion (at least the "teamwork versus not" bit) was borne by someone saying that's how one of the TFS guys interprets the fights
. Which is certainly a good fit for this thread. General Super talk has no place here, but talk about how it pertains to DBZA and TFS? That seems fine here. And this is speaking as someone who has not seen (and more than likely will not see) Super.

Cell(s) calling Gohan a NEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD makes me think that Piccolo sure has come a long way. When he was first training Gohan, he mocked him whenever he showed off his brains, but in the Broly movie he was very upset when he found out Gohan didn't get into the college he wanted. Maybe Chichi rubbed off on him?
He still mocks Gohan when he's being nerdy.
But just because you rib someone over their goals doesn't mean you don't want to see their dreams fulfilled. Like, if I had a friend who loved soap operas, I'd tease them for it relentlessly. But if they got to go write and direct for their favorite soap opera, I'd be proud of them. Just because I don't see value in their dream doesn't mean I can't respect that they do.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub....Gohan's freaking nine, since when does he need to start thinking of college? Especially since he's never been to an actual school in his life, and I don't think being homeschooled is liable to get one accepted into a college in the first place; maybe a community college, but nothing like a state university or an Ivy League school or anything above that.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Chi-Chi doesn't want him turning into the same barely-functioning man-child his father is.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Yes, but there's a point where overcompensation becomes a thing; thinking about and actually trying to get your barely 10 year old son into a good college is that point. Plus, doesn't Gohan technically need a high school education to be accepted into anything above a community college, i.e., anyplace where he could get a Master's Degree from? Wouldn't he need to go to high school first and have a diploma and credentials in hand before he's accepted into one of those places?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!You don't need to be a proper teacher, you just need to be able to get your GED if you're talking about US colleges.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! There might be a bit of overthinking here. Chichi's whole deal, (at least as far as the anime/Team Four Star is concerned) is being an overprotective tiger mom, who puts education above all else to a ridiculous degree, even if she has no real idea how these things works. It might not be a joke that works if you think she's supposed to know better.
I'm not super up to date on the particulars, but Japan is notorious for putting a TON of pressure on it's students to do well in classes and get into a reputable school. I don't think Chi-chi's behavior is unusual, and if you want to get into a good university, you are expected to do well from a very early age.
Where exactly do you live?

Spain. We are far from perfect in educative issues, and we keep looking at the nordic countries and trying to emulate the more sucessful points without bothering to learn how.
The Chinese-Korean-Japanese approach to education however, is a soul-crushing abomination. It makes sense with the sheer population in those areas, but overpopulation is something that is going to come back to haunt us in a generation, anyway.
I know it's really hard to become a teacher up here. Had a couple friends in University who were hoping to become teachers, but there were few who wanted to hire someone without a lot of experience. I don't really have any complaints with my own education, something I'm not sure I could say if I lived in America.

Yeah, the US education system is kinda garbage for everyone. The best teachers I ever had were actually people who didn't have a degree in teaching but had a degree in a field related to their subject. My math teacher in the 8th grade, for example, had a degree in mechanical engineering and she was the best math teacher I ever had.

Yeah at no point has TFS said they aren't going to do the Buu saga. Let's dial back the doomsday talk until we get someone official saying it's going to end at the Cell Saga.
