I watched Dragonball as a kid since my dad was awesome and got the original Dragonball tapes alongside us collecting the Dragonball Z ones with the pictures on the side which lined up to create a full picture.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Just finished the first two episodes of the Goku Black Arc.
Is Super usually this slow? It took two episodes for Trunks to finally get to the past.
Also, when did Pilaf and the gang get turned into children? Did they?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I actually think it supposedly happened during the seven year time skip between Cell and Boo.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Pilaf and the gang were turned into children between Freeza getting turned into a meat pie and the arrival of the Androids. Except they weren't turned into kids, they were turned into babies. It's just that but the time we see them in Super they've had the chance to grow up a little bit. See, the group also had the same thing happen to them in Future Trunks' timeline, and that means that the wish had to be made before Piccolo bought it. I'm also pretty sure there's a page in the Super manga that shows them as babies at the time Trunks was about their age.
It does. I think they used up the wish just before Piccolo died, closing off any chance of using the balls for anything, and adding to the shit storm that Gohan was already going through at the time.
I know that, from a meta standpoint, they didn't even exist at the time, but I wonder what they were doing during the events prior to Trunks going back in time. Especially Mai, who became really important later on.
The Super Manga just finished the Goku Black arc, and Pilaf actually asks future Mai what happened to him, with her simply saying Oh yeah! You have no idea what's in store for you! and then leaving without going into details, which means that, whatever happened to him and Shu, it's something potentially separate from either the Androids or Black, and is apparently still on the table.
One Strip! One Strip!
Just because she said that doesn't really mean anything. I could say that to anyone and it'd be just as true.
Well, it meant a lot to Pilaf.
I mean, you're not wrong, and it was more played for humour, but I gotta admit, I'm curious. I mostly just appreciate that the Manga at least acknowledged things on that end, since there was almost no interaction with Mai, her past self, and the rest of the Pilaf gang in the anime.
One Strip! One Strip!I just want to chime in to say I was as obsessed with DBZ as every other kid of the 90s but when I saw "Dragonball" on Cartoon Network, I was very confused. See, at around this time, I also saw ads for "Dragonball GT" which also had Kid Goku. Now, benefit of Internet and actually being able to watch the shows instead of just seeing a random ep on TV makes this all very clear but for young me, I didn't get any of it.
Or perhaps I'm just dumb because I also thought at one point DBZ ended with Vegetab blowing up Buu. But I swear, the series restarted after that episode so that must have been the end, right? It was a perfectly sensible place to end everything. (my mind was blown when a kid at a camp I went to told me that wasn't the ending....)
Also around this time i remember several different Tenchi's being on TV, none of which are related to each other. I kinda thought Dragonball, Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT was sort of the same deal?

Anyone else feel like TFS should redo season 1 like they did with Dead Zone Abridged? The humor wasn't nearly as good, especially with the "Kirk and Spock" and "Clark and Jimmy" stuff. The audio and video editing quality weren't as good, either. And no offense to Vegeta(numbers), but a cleaner break might be good.
Or... did they already say they were going to do this?

Only for those weirdos who only watched the Abridged Series and didn't watch Dragonball.
Though to be fair, nobody watched Dragonball.
