What does it mean to dot on someone? I doubt that it's anything like to dote on someone.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Because they misrepresent what those mistakes actually were, and apply them to his entire relationship with his son. And then try and paint Piccolo and Vegeta as "better". It's pretty simple really.
I never said people couldn't dislike Goku (or anyone else), just that if they do, they should actually have their facts straight.
Frankly, you telling people what they should care about comes off as a little hypocritical.

Problem would be the Goku and Gohan don't get much time together on screen beyond training together so when the plan comes around there is nothing to counter the moments of the cell games. Sure most of it is Goku being dead so hard to spend time with family, but it does not help the preconception that the Cell Games and him throwing plan together without even telling Gohan until the last minute.
"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyAll of the Saiyan Arc movies are weird because Goku has Kaioken in all of them (except Dead Zone, which has its own issues) while Piccolo and friends are still alive.
The only way it'd make sense would be if they took place after Namek and Goku just decides not to use Super Saiyan for some reason, which would be consistent with him using Kaioken against Cooler in both of his films. Doesn't account for Dead Zone, though, or False Super Saiyan in Lord Slug.
The Cooler movie only makes sense if it takes place in a world where the Spirit Bomb killed Freeza and the fight with Cooler was the first time Goku turned Super Saiyan.
My various fanfics.People seem to focus a lot on the later jokes that paint Piccolo as a better father figure, and ignore all the early ones where he was a really shitty one. Like the ones about leaving Gohan alone with man-eating dinosaurs. Or how the "DODGE" joke is basically a dragonball variant on jokes about nerds being bad at / hating dodgeball.

He used Kaioken against Metal Cooler as well. For some reason.
In regards to DBZA Goku, pretty sure they're going to have Goku dying to Cell as the resolution of the "Gohan hates his dad" portion of jokes, which would lead into why DBZA Gohan would wear his gi.
Then again, Future Gohan wore a Goku outfit, too, and considered Piccolo his dad, so I could be wrong.
I figure it'll go: Gohan gets smacked around by Cell > Goku realizes his mistakes > Gohan goes Super Saiyan 2 > Gohan's anger issues with his dad cause problems and Cell ends up self destructing > Goku sacrifices himself and shows Gohan he does care in his own way > Cell comes back and Gohan can't do it at first > Goku telepathically reconciles with his son > heartwarming father-son Kamehameha.
Also I like the direction they've gone where Gohan being the one to beat Cell is the ultimate fuck you to him. Gonna be fun to see him break down when Super Saiyan 2 hits.
Skipped a couple pages.
The US voice actors for Goku and Vegeta were at a panelI attended recently. They both agreed that Vegeta was the better father, husband, and lover. They also explained that because of how information was given out to the dubbers, they misunderstood the Goku character early on. He's not a hero, he just wants a good fight.

That's the joke.
