[up][up]Exactly.

[up]No. Superman getting whacked by a magic pole is like a regular, muscly guy getting whacked by a magic pole. The pole is magic, and therefore Superman has no added defense against it.

No, he has no defence against magic effects not just magic objects doing things that have no relation to their magical nature.

He has no "added" defence against magic, but his regular defence is more than enough to shrug off being hit with a pole. It does not negate his normal defences.

I think Saiga's right. It's not like he's ethereal or untouchable or anything. He's not a ghost, so just adding the property "magical" doesn't make anything suddenly able to hit him.

It would have to be the magic itself attacking him, not just an object containing any old kind of magic.

I think I may have the nature of the pole itself wrong. I figure, hit with a magic pole weapon = magic attack. I concede.

How magic works on him really depends on the writer.

I would have thought that part of the Power Pole's enchantment would be some form of increased power.

Or maybe I'm thinking in DND terms (where a magic weapon would have to be +something in order to be enchanted) too much.

To my knowledge, it's never been stated that the pole has any added magical power beyond simply being able to extend and retract. Never assume secondary powers, especially when they're not required.

When they get the point where Cell dies, they should reference this misheard phrase he says during it:

His Goku genes must have kicked in at the last second.

I love that Cell loves cornbread.

Actually he's Super Perfect Cell. tongue

I wonder, is it Super Perfect Cell (Like Super Mode for his Perfect Form) or Super Perfect Cell (Like "super perfect" being a form above regular "perfect").

It's the same thing regardless, just wondering about where the adjective stops and the noun begins.

[up][up] Dunno. The term is only use in the Budokai video games.

The Spike video games use "Perfect Form" and "Perfect" to describe it. Which is weird, but whatever.

The form is supposed to be evocative of the super saiyan mode, so I guess it would be Super Perfect Cell.

Well, no, Super Saiyan 2. He was already displaying traits of Super Saiyan 1 (his aura and using the graded forms).

"Perfect form" and "Perfect" makes no sense, really. I mean, what.

[up][up] Which is why, despite people normally using the Spike names for things, Super Perfect Cell sticks.tongue

For what it's worth, the Japanese can be a little ambiguous. "Kanzentai", Cell's favourite word that gets translated as "Perfect" in most English versions, can either mean perfect or "Complete". The Viz manga goes with "Complete" rather than "Perfect", which makes sense.

In the manga, coming back from the botched suicide, Cell describes himself as "Perfect" using a different word, that can't also mean complete.

So one way to translate it could actually be "Complete form" and "Perfect". He completed his body by absorbing the Androids like he was designed, and then became so powerful he considers himself to have reached perfection.

I really like that distinction, but "Perfect" the way the English dub uses it is just too ingrained in me.

Complete to Perfect makes a lot of sense.
