- Noncombative Saiyan.
- Was on a Saiyan battle squad.
- Later is put in charge of meat packing.
Was she the team medic?
Might explain why she needed constant saving.

Gine's the Legendary Super Saiyan. King Vegeta feared her power so he made her a cook. After the planet was destroyed, she created a ki bubble and carried Bardock to a distant world. Now, they plot their revenge against Prince Vegeta for his dad making Gine Stay in the Kitchen.
- Gine: A demon? No. I AM A MOTHER!!!
- Goku: Oh, good. That's a relief.
- Gohan: Dad, no! That's much worse!
- Goku: What? How— (everyone gets steamrolled by Gine)
- Goku: Okay. In my defense. I've never had one of those.
- Gine: RAAAAAARGH!!! (power doubles from fury)
- Trunks: Goku, please stop saying things.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub....Since I found out Gine was a thing I came up with a shitty AU that involves Broly and Cooler.
When King Vegeta calls Paragus in, Gine's already there because Bardock's yelling about Frieza, and the rest of Bardock's squad didn't get back, and Gine's the only one around who might know what the hell is up Bardock. When Paragus says not to kill his son, Gine speaks up too and gets blasted for her trouble. Broly ends up saving her as well as Paragus in the garbage dump.
Cooler finds the bubble floating in space after Frieza leaves, and when he finds out Vegeta might be looking for surviving Saiyans he brings Gine, Paragus and Broly to the young prince. When Frieza gets wind of it, he requests Gine come to serve on his flagship in his kitchen.
So when the Namek Saga happens, Gohan and Krillin end up bumping into Gine while she's just cutting up a bunch of Namekian arms and putting them in a freezer.
I dunno why it appeals to me, but it does.
Well, it would be moving up in the world I suppose.

I imagine it's because coming up with ridiculously crazy scenarios is fun.
Huh. I have to admit, the disconnect of Gine cutting up dead namek bodies with her normal personality would make for some darkly hilarious Black Comedy.
One Strip! One Strip!
And now, you done gone too far.
I mean, yeah it'd be a spectacular food source, but still.
One Strip! One Strip!...I'm pretty sure people would mind have their arms ripped off.
Last I checked, that still hurts.
One Strip! One Strip! How can you be pissed off at a meteor?
All she knows is she was dying in a gutter and then the planet was gone.
And as for Raditz, I mean. Self-defense. And also maybe Dragon Balls, depends.
I don't think Dragon Balls would bring Bardock back, because near as I can tell he's not dead. He's with Towa and Mira somewhere in time.

The obvious question, from a Namekian perspective, would be, "...okay, but what's in it for me?"
If I was a Namekian, I'd expect to be handsomely compensated for mutilating myself like that.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Namekian arms aren't "limitless". It still takes a lot of energy to regrow one (that even shows in the scouters). Considering that, I doubt a Namekian can regrew too many times per day. And they probably need to rest and drink more than normal after to recover, so that couldn't be a sustainable job.
You'd still be hard-pressed to provide adequate compensation to a people who don't really want for anything.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Especially since Nail could curb stomp all of them in their base forms and would only be troubled by a couple of them as Oozaru.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Idle thought: Due to transformations being exponential, Oozaru Raditz is weaker than Base Vegeta.
Ha!
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Honestly, the Oozaru transformation quickly became So Last Season by the time the Namek arc began.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans! That's just because everyone got their tails cut off. It's equivalent to a Kaioken x10. That's game-changing.
Even before getting all his zenkais on Namek, Vegeta's Oozaru form could have wiped the floor with the entire Ginyu Force simultaneously.
It's really just Frieza who made it obsolete, and that's because Frieza made everything obsolete.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.You know, that's something I've always wondered; why didn't their tails ever grow back?
Like, both Goku and Gohan have had their tails grow back at least once (at inopportune times for their opponents), so how come it never happened again after the Saiyan Saga?
Is it that the tail stops growing back after a saiyan becomes an adult? And if that's the case, then why didn't Gohan's tail ever grow back after it was severed for the second time?

No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!

...Although, supposedly there were ten Elite Saiyans at a time, and while this isn't stated, for whatever reason each of them being in charge of one particular aspect of Saiyan society and government has an appeal to me. So Gine having a power level of 7000 and being in charge of Meat Distribution. Like, it's not official or whatever, but it'd be funny if we assume that the only qualification Saiyans have for administrative work is what a person's power level is.
I mean, around the current Battle of Gods era is when Minus was written. So it being a relatively recent shortcoming doesn't mean it's not a shortcoming he has, or one he's capable of recognizing in himself. Even if he was capable of writing women in different ways in the past, that doesn't necessarily mean he still is.
Like, I'm not saying it's not a change for the worse. But changing is a thing that writers do.
If Toriyama's intent is that all Saiyan females are noncombatants, it's interesting and bizarre and not conducive to that concept that the only example of a female Saiyan he gives, while a noncombatant, is also singled out as being unusually passive by Saiyan standards, and still a former member of a Saiyan battle squad.
