I mean, yeah, Even Evil Has Loved Ones, is a thing but that doesn't mean it has to be a character's primary motivation, or make you forget the character isn't evil. Which is kind of what that video does for both Gero and his son.
Also Gero's son apparently wasn't actually killed specifically by Goku, just in the line of duty, but I doubt anyone actually cares about that.
But they wanted it to be Kakarrot...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Not really...
Seems like they just wanted to make a bunch of S. intercourse jokes....

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. What do opinions have do with anything?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Absolutely nothing. Everything I think about a thing automatically becomes factually accurate, on the grounds that I am a dragon and can breathe fire at temperatures well above the average melting point of everything.

Not the discussion about that scene...
Wasn't really much of a discussion...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. To be truly fair, any topic could theoretically make for a good discussion.
Except for the one you're thinking of right now. No one wants to talk about that and you're a horrible person for thinking it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I just meant that it didn't last long...
And maybe it's just me, but I don't think taking turns to just say whether or not you like something is much of a discussion...because that's pretty much what happened.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Oh yeah! Well I've always wanted to slay a dragon.
As for the current topic:
1) 16 death video: Didn't hate it, but can see why others would.
2) Goku / Chi-chi sex: bad idea, and they were dumb for not realizing how it would be taken.
That's one of the few times I'm gonna say that about them.

One Strip! One Strip!Sexual desirees...probably wasn't referring to that closing gag, but the episode after that where it was wearing Karrot out tired like.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The Goku/Chi-Chi sex bits were fine once we got a clarifying scene establishing that Goku both understands the concept of consent and is giving it. Given the nature of his character, that was very important to acknowledge.
And we got some good bits out of it. My personal favorite is a rare instance of Goku and Bulma just getting to chat like the old, old friends they are.
- Goku: (pop) BULMA! Sex makes babies!
- Trunks: (cries)
- Bulma:
I'm well aware.

This song needs more love.If you ask me, it was a pretty unsubtle attempt at an Author's Saving Throw, but I'm still glad they did it.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Gero's son not being killed by Goku is a complete fucking cop-out and ruins the point of him even existing as a character. Goku murdered a ton of people in the original series, including hundreds of unnamed soldiers, and that was what it should have been about - the hero being on the opposite end of the situation with Frieza. Someone so far beyond your power level wiping out everything you ever cared about and it not even matter ing to them. Gero lost everything he ever believed in and everything he ever loved to Goku, who barely even remembers it. He sacrificed and slaved enough to become powerful and do the one thing that mattered to him - make Goku pay for taking his son from him, no matter the cost.
And then it's just some unnamed enemy who did it so we don't have to think about morality. All those people Goku killed never had families and it doesn't matter what happened to them.
In fairness, Saiga isn't wrong about Gero's son being a Voodoo Shark. His purpose for existing is to try and explain part of the nonsensical de-escalation of androids, wherein each new number of android is shittier than the last. Y'know, the opposite of progress.
The idea being that Gero made 16 a pacifist because he resembles his son and he didn't want him to go out there and get killed like his son did. The problem with it is that it explains precisely nothing. There's no reason Gero couldn't just build a non-16 version of 16 who wasn't his son and didn't have his son's attitude and could go break Goku's face, and there's sure as hell no reason to abandon 16's tech when the fundamental flaw with 16 is personality-based, not tech-based.
Gero making each subsequent android shittier for tenuous reasons like "They're hard to control" is a problem that doesn't really have a solution. It exists because Toriyama had to introduce a new set of androids to replace 19 and 20 while also escalating their threat level above 19 and 20. The only thing that could have solved this issue is better planning.
EDIT: Of note, the most egregious example of this issue being Dr. Gero not making Android 20 into either an Infinite Energy model or a Whatever 16 Is model. "Hmm, my previous designs had too much personality and it made them hard to control. I'd better use the shitty design for myself, just in case my personality proves too hard for me to control and I cease to follow my orders."

That's not a cop-out...it wouldn't even matter since that whole thing was never addressed in series.
Mental instability until they are surpassed on the power level food chain.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Dr. Gero was a Mad Scientist. Who was old. He probably had a senior moment and thought his later ideas were awesome, except they weren't.
