^That doesn't say "ship" to me. On a different background, maybe?

I don't have the chops to do much more than slap it against a black background, and that'll look like crap.

Nor do I, unfortunately. Just asking.

Humorously enough, I'm starting a class that might teach me how to do that tomorrow.

If somebody slapped the tyranid ship onto a space background it would be fantastic. It's definitely got the "organic" part down.

The trope is more than just organic. But I don't know how to show the character part.

The more important part of the trope is that the ship itself is a character; looking organic is optional.

What we need, I think, is some kind of anthropomorphic cartoon spaceship. Maybe The Magic School Bus?

I'm against the Lexx, if only because it doesn't obviously look like a living ship. Insectile, yes, living, not so much.

I PM'd rodneyAnonymous about possibly putting the 'nid ships against a space background.

Why exactly is the "character" component part of the trope? It seems like a rather common subtrope of Organic Technology.

[up] Well, the description focuses almost entirely on the "character" part and the examples agree with it, so that's the trope and we have to roll with it.

[up][up][up][up] The Tyranid hive ships look even less like living beings and I don’t see any reason to put too much work in the pictures. Do they even fit in the current description of the trope?

Maybe we should first put this trope in the TRS to clarify the description before deciding on a picture.

Yes, I think we should start a TRS thread for this.

[up] Ok, now that looks like an organic ship. Rodney does good work.

That is awesome.

But we'll probably have to wait on the TRS before putting it up.

Yeah, it's a great Organic Ship, now we just need to work out the issues in TRS.

Why are threads always shut down after "60 days of inactivity" when the last post is usually just a couple of days earlier?

It was actually locked since the thingy didn't appear at the top of the thread. Still favoring the Tyranid ship.
