Question: I know that Ken Penders is claiming that he "owns" Evil-Sonic (now Scourge) and Robo-Robotnik (now Eggman). The comic has gone out of it's way to show that Eggman is now the Prime-Robotnik. But with Scourge, I've heard rumors that he's tied up due to his origin as Evil-Sonic and might be removed.
Has Ian made any comments on this yet?
Sometimes life just sucks. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. Why should you expect anything different in the mediums? What I know that Scourge is gone. Most propably cause Penders created basis for character, though I also heard rumors that Sega simply doesnt want to have evil Sonic recolor running around or something like this.
Either way he gone and that sucks. I know that may sound stupid but he was my favourite comic exclusive Sonic character.
There is no way on this Earth that Penders can legally claim Evil-Sonic. he didn't create the idea of evil alternate universe, it's a concept that exists as far back as Earth-3 from 60s Justice League of America comics and even Mirror World from Star Trek (which Penders also wrote a terrible comic adaptation for) and probably even further.
I mean come on, the character in any lawyers eyes is called Evil-Registered Trademark of SEGA.
As for Eggman, I think the alternate universe thing is needlessly complicated so I prefer to think his story went like this:
Robotnik died in Endgame, before he perished he uploaded a backup of his brain to a satellite and later downloaded it to a new robotic shell.
That idea implies that St H 108 never happened.
Conundrum of comic books. Bringing villains back from the dead cheapens their deaths, so by keeping Robotnik dead Archie made Endgame something actually important.(Of course Endgame sucks, so maybe that wasn't the best idea) On the other hand by making " death of actual Robotnik" story they forced themselves to write "Sonic fighting not actual Robotnik" for the rest of their existence (of course back then they thought that comic going to end soon). Robotnik from other dimension was the attempt at having cake and eating it.

Exactly. Which is why Eggman has now basically said that the multiverse was rebooted and his own existance & memories was altered to fit the new history. He's no longer anything close to Robo-Robotnik anymore, he is now officially the first & only Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik in the nu252 continuity.
As for the Scourge thing, I still agree with Conductor: no matter what Ken claims, he cannot own any "Evil" versions of characters unless they were first introduced by him before their "normal" counterparts (and that does include Mike Gallagher & Dave Manak creating the name & design for Fiona Fox, even if it was originally the robot duplicate). No one can create a evil version of Superman, who wears shades & sunglasses and be called "Evil-Superman" and expect to own that character.
I don't know what's worse (assuming that Ken's claims about Scourge & the Supression Squad are absolute crap): that Archie is unwilling to try to assert the fact that Ken's claims in this regard are absolute crap, or that SEGA may have decided "no more alternate versions". Apparently, the newest Metal Sonic ala Sonic Universe is going to be the last one via SEGA mandate since they didn't like multiple Metal Sonics, (Captain Metal aside) meaning that Shard's existance is now iffy at best, despite 1)originally based on a out-&-owned SEGA charater (the original Metal Sonic) and 2) being a character that Ken can't claim to own and was retooled by Ian.
Sometimes life just sucks. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. Why should you expect anything different in the mediums?I think that Flynn tiptoed around problem by calling him Shard the Mecha Sonic- something I'm not found of, but I recognize the necessary evil.
Still idea of good wise-cracking Metal Sonic with mouth, spiky hair, arm-cannon and Power Gem is much more copyrightable then Evil Sonic, so there is a chance that he's gone since Archie () from what I can tell ceased used using all their non-Flynn characters. There is a chance that he survived the same way Nicole's lynx design survived, but a small one.
Maybe the lawsuit issue as a whole put such a sour taste in Sega and Archie's mouth that they thought it would just be better to just disregard the entirety of Ken's creations rather than spending any more time and money fighting him over the issues no matter how 'obvious' the matter of ownership should be. Washing their hands of the issue, as it were.
Yeah, that too can go on the "I don't know what's worse policy".
Does anyone remember when Ken said he "didn't use characters he didn't create" in his stories until around Mobius: 25 Years later with Mina Mongoose? I looked through my old issues and realized that he was wrong in that regard.
Mammoth Mogul, created by Scott Fulop/Kent Taylor, showed up in Knuckles #9, where he did the somewhat minor act of stealing Enerjak's Chaos Energy and reducing him to old, decrepit Dimitri, forcing him to go all cyborg. Not to mention, but he included Wombat Stu (a Michael Gallagher character) for his "Search For Alicia" arc with the Secret Service. He doesn't even know what he's done anymore.
So either Ken's forgotten he doesn't own Mogul, forgot what he created in his "precious" stories, or (given that Dimitri's appearance as a cyborg in his Lara-Su Chronicles and not as a floating head) he's already changed more and more of his precious history he's fought tooth and nail for, other than the whole alien crap.
Who wants to take bets that he's going to crash so hard, he's going to go crawling back to Archie & SEGA and beg them to buy his characters back so he won't lose all of his money?
Sorry, I'm just royally pissed because of his current smug attitude about his ripping off of the "First They Came..." poem about the Nazis for the Knuckle's comic... and saying it's Archie's fault because they didn't change anything of the original work for the Archives. Also, apparently the Lara-Su movie (or book, or underwear or whatever) will be IN 3-D!!!!
EDIT: Yeah, still pissed about him thinking it's alright to use the quote for a kids comic and not even have the decency to admit not attributing it to the real author was a bad idea.
Hell, the quote doesn't even make any sort of sense when applied to Robotnik. Other than Snively, he had no other supporters for his coup & dictatorship in the Kingdom, none that he didn't build or roboticize. When he took over, it was a huge splash after building up time to build his power base; he didn't do anything close to the subterfuge the quote implies, at least going by the written word. If he wanted to imply the Brotherhood screwed up by not keeping a close eye on Robotnik during his Great War activities, then he ripped off the wrong quote to express that. I swear to God, this guy and his pathetic hanger-ons on his Twitter and his forums completely disgust me. "Oh, Ken, he can do no wrong. His Jewish friends say it's OK, why can't you?"

Sometimes life just sucks. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. Why should you expect anything different in the mediums?Huh. So checking wiki.
Why are they now going through Sonic Unleashed storyline? .-. I mean, that game is already pretty old. Is it just because of the lawsuit scrapping planned stuff so they are going through game arcs until they have figured out something?
Also, its kinda absurd how many of characters on comic character page have "Put on Bus" on them. Might as well give the scrapped characters their own collective page so that reading through the page would be easier <_<

I honestly think the reason they're doing an adaptation of Unleashed now is because it provides an excellent excuse to go out and see more of the new Mobius; while we can definitely count on places from the game making an appearance, there's plenty of reason to see other parts of the world 'in-between' the main spots.
But yeah, a separate page for all the stuff that got tossed out might be wise, particularly since unless Penders is replaced by a far more sane alien pod-person version of himself? Chances are unlikely that the vast bulk of it will be returning anytime soon.
Speaking of Penders, guess what's the latest piece of crap he's put out for his 'new series'...
◊ It's astonishing how he's actively topping himself concerning how awful each new piece of material is.
I feel so sorry for the characters that got kicked out of the comic due to Penders' disgusting ego.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Oh my God, they're going to actually try and make Honey canon, aren't they? The last time they made a joke character into a canon character, it was the Tails Doll, and all they did was steal all the scary stories about it, and it was dumb as hell. Honey doesn't even have that.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatHoney is a character in Fighting Vipers, which is basically a faster Virtua Fighter with walls. When that game was remade into Sonic the Fighters, as a joke, they originally placed Honey in there as a cat, but she was taken out of the game until it's latest digital re-release.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great

I love that artwork, because it makes characters look like they belong to the comic. I consider all his designs to be "correct" ones for the comic. I know all artists now are trying but he seems to do best job. Compare Mordred
◊ Hood
◊ or Devil
◊ Dogs
◊. I was especially disappointed that he didn't draw Wolf Pack (2013-2014, 2037-2038)stories. Queen Hathor and Drago Wolf looked especially unfitting in comics compared to how they looked on the covers.
