Just finished reading this. I've never watched Haruhi, but I have enough vague knowledge of the characters to follow most of it. I think the fic is very good so far — I found Chapter 1 was a little bit dull, but I'm sure it works better for readers who know Haruhi better. After that, the rest was excellent mood development, really engaging and unsettling, just like the actual Higurashi arcs. Looking forward to seeing how this continues!
I noticed a couple of small mistakes; hope you don't mind my pointing them out. Some of the scene numbers are incorrect (for instance, Chapter 2 has two Scene 4s). Scene 1-3 contains the sentence "Well, one of the distinct traits of a junkyard is a walking surface compromised mainly of junk" where "compromised" should read "composed". In Scene 4-2, Mion says "Around ten people have either died or disappeared" and the narrator thinks "Wait, twelve?" which should clearly be "ten".

Is 1-4 the last part of chapter one? Just idle curiosity.
The second arc seems to be starting out intriguingly, and I look forward to seeing how the differences from the first will affect the story.
All the SOS Brigade members are apparently completely depowered this time, as opposed to Yuki (and Koizumi?) still having limited versions of their powers before.
Also, Kyon being able to see Hanyuu seems foreboding, considering who was able to see her before and what ended up happening to them.
Question: Might Keiichi's parents (or Keiichi himself) know about Hinamizawa syndrome, and if so view it as causing Kyon to think he's from the future?
Anyway, really like this fic and am eager for the next update.

Wide-eyed idealists should just assume by default that life is poised to deal them a crushing blow and plan accordingly, i.e. become cynics.Apparently Nagato can her horns.
I do like this story (Although i've only read Kamigoroshi-hen so far.) I'll be sure to add this fic to my stalk-for-updates list once I read the next chapter!
Sweet. I inspired someone. The fanfic in question.
Hmmm, it looks like Kyon is going to go insane this arc. It'll be interesting to see his sarcastic view on things when he's suffering from the syndrome.
At least I think that'll happen. The scene at the clinic certainly makes me think that'll happen, Unless that was the vaccination and you're just going to lead things in a totally different direction, true Higurashi style.
Yeah, it does seem likely that Kyon will be going insane this arc. I wonder how exactly it'll manifest, paranoia like Keiichi seems likely given that he's already mistrustful of Hinamizawa. Kyon seems like one of the least likely people to become Ax-Crazy, but it's still a definite possibility.
I'm wondering about how Yuki will be/is being affected by the cutoff from the IDTE. She's obviously a bit unsettled, but Kyon seems to think it's not an issue. He also voices a thought that she's staying with someone who can take care of her, as opposed to the hotel she mentione)...is there any reason for him to think that? Or is he just hoping that she's better off in Hinamizawa?
Also, it seems all but confirmed that Haruhi has some residual memories from the last arc. First knowing about Satoshi, and then mentioning the "Hammer of Oyashiro-sama", although the latter could be coincidence. Her mentioning the latter also makes it seem possible that Koizumi has some memories of the events, although he might not be aware of them (as with Kyon's reaction.)
Anyway, done rambling, looking forward to the next update.

I'll do this by paragraph.
@Kyon being insane: You'll see.
@Nagato: Kyon's saying that she'd be better off here than in their world if she had someone to take care of her. She doesn't, so she's suffering. Note that Kyon could easily be underestimating how bad this is for her.
@Residual memories: It's very small, things like putting names to people or aspects to events, and note the references Kyon makes to his nightmares, but it's there.
Also, I've uploaded another third of the section. Read, give feedback, etc.

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Yep, called it.
But now I have a question, The extra footsteps in Higurashi belong to Hanyuu, don't they? Hanyuu usually ends up following the person that goes insane while apologizing nonstop. However, Kyon could also hear Hanyuu this arc. Wouldn't Kyon of heard Hanyuu apologizing as well as the footsteps? Or could it be that because Kyon told Rika to ask Hanyuu not to stalk him, Hanyuu continued to stalk him, but stayed silent? Hmmm...
Hullo. Dropping in here for the first time ever since I've finished the first arc (awesome work, by the way, it felt like Original Flavor until the end) and halfway through the second (I started a few hours ago, by the way). A few comments I might add:
- There's a lot of Dramatic Irony in both of the arcs, more than the source material(s). It's kind of wince-inducing... Also, TAKANO THAT BITCH
- I don't think Rika was supposed to be aware of "Frederica Bernkastel" until Saikoroshi-hen. Kind of unfitting to make an offhand reference to her at this point.
- The cruel aversion of No Periods, Period in the first arc really made me nauseate a little. Did... did you really have to go that far? -__-
I love the story so far. Please keep this up. I want to see how all the arcs end.
"If I touch my enemy, it's over, so I don't need to put effort in destroying them."Thanks for the feedback. I'll respond to each of your responses in turn.
- Uh, is that a good thing? As for the spoiled part, I aimed for that result in the audience and I see that I succeeded.
- Ah, that could very well be the case. I shall remove that reference promptly.
- Yes. Yes I did.

It's only less than half of that part. I released it in stages so you didn't have to wait as long between updates.
