@ We Must Be Killers

  • In "Down for the Count", Cecelia gets poison as her gift for a Cornucopia feast and sprinkles a little bit into the food in everyone else's backpacks before leaving her backpack behind as she runs away, so that whoever arrives next won't wonder why she didn't take their backpacks and suspect a trap.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • During the 3rd Quarter Quell, immediately after Claudius makes a speech about how Berenice from District 4 is not a competitor to ignore, he proceeds to ignore her to talk about someone else.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Haymitch trying to kill himself after accidentally sending a tribute the wrong message with a sponsor gift and making him think Haymitch is urging him to charge against a heavily-defended Career camp (which goes about as well as you'd expect).

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • During the 3rd Quarter Quell bloodbath, Cecelia takes on three Career tributes at the same time with thrown rocks and sand and the first weapons she can grab (injuring Gloss and knocking Brutus and Enobaria off their feet) in a vain effort to save an injured Woof. After that, despite being injured, she and Seeder are Back-to-Back Badasses fighting to reach more weapons that their allies need.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Elmer and Ginger, Haymitch's first two Doomed by Canon tributes, have some powerful and engaging moments that cement them into the readers' memories.
  • Wiress has limited prominence outside of her own Games and the Quell, but her Beware the Nice Ones moments and place in the group of Rebel victors make her very well-liked.
  • Gloss and Cashmere have less prominence than their fellow Career mentors or victor-tributes whenever they appear but have some fans for the close bond between them and how they can mingle fairly well with non-Career mentors at times.
  • Madge Undersee rarely appears for too long outside of The Final Eight and a few oneshots, but her Generation Xerox moments where she embodies her aunt Maysilee and sense of bravery/recklessness make her even better-liked by some readers of this story than she was in the books.
  • Mir Mellark's Jerkass Woobie origins, character range, and occasional softer moments make her a very interesting character even as she remains the sometimes abusive mother she was in canon.
  • Chicory's humorous jealousy toward Finnick's Chick Magnet status during the 65th Hunger Games and bonding with his two allies make him one of Haymitch's better-remembered tributes.
  • District 2 victor Saffron Abatty only has a couple scenes outside of Haymitch's Victory Tour and her time mentoring for the 51st Hunger Games, but her role as a stern but ultimately caring Dry Crusader is well-liked.

@ The End of the World

  • Historical Hero Upgrade: District 4 victor Benit supposedly died in a heroic battle against marauders living outside the districts, but Mags confides in Haymitch that he really had a stroke from the strain of staying awake for three straight weeks (while also hunting mutts) due to some overly potent drugs he took.
  • Recurring Extra:
    • Three of the six District 5 victors (the ones besides Faraday Sykes, Charlie Flynn, and, to a lesser extent, Thalis Dorgan), are never shown interacting with a POV character. Their final victor, Tanager Lowe, wins during the Time Skip between The Hanging Tree and These are the Names, and is only shown or mentioned two or three times afterward. It isn't even clear whether any of them besides Tanager are still alive during the 3rd Quarter Quellnote , where the only direct mention of the District 5 mentor or mentors is Haymitch mentions seeing the District 5 and 9 mentors playing cards together as he glances across the room.
    • Mindwell Larue, District 10's last victor (near the end of The Hanging Tree), has a background scene or two in The Narrow Path, and some background moments in The Golden Mean where Haymitch observes her reaction to the death of District 10's male victor-tribute, but she only ever gets one line of dialogue, right before her last and most prominent scene of getting involved in a fight with some Peacekeepers.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Haymitch and Digger's Metaphorical Marriage ceremony during their goodbyes after Haymitch is reaped, with Peeta later incorporating that story into his claim that he and Katniss did something similar during the 3rd Quarter Quell interviews.
  • Caesar taking Haymitch on a tour of museums, libraries, and the like after Haymitch’s victory.

VideoGame.Sonic 3 And Knuckles:

  • Canon Discontinuity: The Super Emeralds and Hyper forms appear to have fallen into this status following Sonic 3 & Knuckles, as they are never acknowledged in the series again following this game, with future games (and adaptations) only using the seven Chaos Emeralds and the Super forms. This is justified, as they were only intended to be bonuses to incentivize players to do the Sonic & Knuckles special stages. In fact, in 3 & Knuckles itself, the Hyper Sonic Golden Ending is implied to not be the canon ending, as it lacks the Sequel Hook that leads into Knuckles' story the Super Sonic ending has.

Trivia.Marvels Spider Man 2:

  • Refitted for Sequel: The black Symbiote suit was originally considered for Spider-Man (PS4) as one of Spider-Man's alternate outfits, only for the devs to scrap it due to feeling it deserved to play a bigger role. Sure enough, the gameplay reveal trailer would confirm the black suit's inclusion in the game, with the costume playing a big role in the game's story.

  • Fan-Preferred Cut Content: While Mayday's heterochromia eyes from the concept art had been replaced by Innocent Blue Eyes (akin to her comic counterpart) by the second trailer, there are some fans who wished she kept them, since heterochromia isn't commonly represented in media and many felt it made her more unique.

^ Be careful how you use pronouns if there are two or more characters they could refer to as it can become hard to tell which character you're talking about. A fan of the ''Hunger Games" books will get that "his" refers to Haymitch, but not everyone is familiar with the series.

@ Batman They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character

  • Astrid Arkham has a rich mythology, with the rogues gallery, an interesting Freudian Excuse, and more potential for reevaluating her worldview than many Batman villains, but her character was written out of the series barely two years after first appearing.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Reviews of The End of the World that mention Albinus Drake are nearly unanimous in condemning his arrogance, apathy as a mentor, and sleazy come-ons to Maysilee. Readers of The Hanging Tree widely agree that the later story does an excellent job of making Drake a likable and tragic figure by exploring his loyalty to the other victors, discussing how a lot of his previous behavior was caused by his toxic environment, and focusing on his recognition of his character flaws and efforts to improve himself while battling growing depression.
  • Signature Scene: One of the more frequently discussed moments of The Golden Mean is the battle between the 3rd Quarter Quell mentors and the Peacekeepers, even though it takes up less than half a chapter.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Everything about District 12 escort Ausonius Glass. He is a hideously scarred District-hating bigot who relishes giving brutal Death Notifications to the families of District 13 tributes. He raped the first District 13 victor and drove her to suicide over decades (culminating when he rigged a reaping to send her 12-year-old grandson- who was also probably his grandson- to die in the arena). He tries to attack Haymitch with brass knuckles one night after feeling insulted by him. He once has to be pulled away from trying to rape a 16-year-old tribute and then uses his media connections to make it look like Haymitch was the one who attacked her. And the scariest thing of all is that he has Ultimate Job Security due to acting with the full knowledge and approval of the president of a police state.
  • Capitol Dreams, a social program that is essentially a state-sponsored brainwashing cult that uses drugs, heavy peer pressure, and Psycho Psychologists to make Capitol residents of all ages remain callous, hedonistic, and convinced that any sympathy they feel for people from the districts is some kind of mental disorder. Their presence and actions are first mentioned in The Hanging Tree, where they mold dedicated Rebel Plutarch into one of their people so thoroughly that he takes a decade to snap out of it. And then, at the end of These are the Names, their methods are shown through a first-person POV after they get Effie in their clutches.
  • Snow blowing up the Abernathy home while Mrs. Abernathy and Lacklen are inside as President Snow live streams to Haymitch to rub in what is about to happen by mockingly recalling how Haymitch told Maysilee the story of The Three Little Pigs and quoting the wolf before triggering the explosives.
  • Haymitch watching a tribute be torn apart by a lion mutt designed by a woman he refused to let rape him.
  • Tributes dying of the plague during the 69th Hunger Games is uglier then almost anything the Gamemakers have done before then.
  • The reveal that "the beast", the unseen 3rd Quarter Quell mutt who ripped a tribute into several pieces, is a dragon.
  • Haymitch watches a video of the bombing of District 12 and sees his best friend running through the streets while burning alive (with it being revealed in The House of Cards that all that was left of him was his jawbone).

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Chaff is Seeder's brother-in-law.
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Twenty-five years of hard drinking's effect on Haymitch's liver (plus the regular detox pills he takes to try to counter that) make it hard to poison him in a way that will look like a natural death from drinking too much, as both Snow and Coin discover.
  • Anachronic Order: The Tesserare Coalition and The Final Eight were the first two stories written and are both set during the first book. The Narrow Path and House of Cards (Perspective Flips of Mockingjay) came out next despite being the last chronologically besides a few oneshots (with the series sometimes being called The Narrow Path series as a result of it being longer than any of the earlier stories). The Golden Mean (retelling Catching Fire) came next, followed by The End of the World, The Rites of Fall, The Hanging Tree, and These are the Names to flesh out Haymitch's backstory before The Last Tribute became the final feature-length story completed to date, retelling The Hunger Games. The author then revised the earlier-written stories to mention more events and characters from stories written later but set earlier.
  • Heroism Motivation Speech: When Haymitch asks his friend Danny Mellark if he wants to keep smuggling rebel messages after starting a family, Danny replies affirmatively.
"I used to hate the Games because they could take me. But I'm nothing compared to him." He kisses the baby's head. "I don't just want to hope he doesn't get picked. I want to do everything that I can do to make sure no one's baby gets picked again."
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil:
    • A special degree of hatred and disgust from both the readers and characters is reserved for the Capitol citizens who buy victors as Sex Slaves, Ausonius Glass (who Haymitch catches trying to force himself on a sixteen-year-old tribute and who also abused District 12's first victor for an implied period of years), and Head Peacekeeper Beckett (who preys on teenaged boys and has them executed if they refuse her so-called affections).
    • Simon Drear, who is already a murderous False Friend and longtime bully, is implied to have tried to assault his district partner sexually and then scared her into telling their mentor it was consensual.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Effie being introduced to baby Madge Undersee and Madge's mother begging her to never say Madge's name again (given how Effie calls the names of the generally doomed tributes), asking if she can promise that and not feeling reassured by Effie's reluctantly neutral reply.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Every time the victors stand up and refuse to let themselves be used as sex objects by Snow's cronies throughout the 51st Hunger Games, eventually presenting a strong enough front and drawing enough media attention to retaliatory actions against their tributes to put a damper on that racket for about a decade.
  • Nehemiah Blythe, an early tribute of Haymitch's, wins fights against hostile mutts and the District 4 career tributes to make it to 5th place, only losing due to being in the wrong place during an earthquake.
  • After Glass tries to sexually assault a tribute named Bluet and then accuses Haymitch of being the one to abuse her, she determinedly sets the record straight during the interviews even though speaking ill of a Games worker will get her time to win over sponsors cut short.
  • After Katniss and Peeta's double victory, Snow mentions that this inspired "hooliganism" in the districts, most notably the Head Peacekeeper in District 5 being pelted with nightlock berries.
@ The End of the World (FernWithy) As a Doorstopper series with hundreds of well-written minor and secondary characters, the series has created many popular characters with limited page time or plot prominence.
  • Jack Anderson is only ever a secondary character at best in any of the three stories he appears in, but his Agent Peacock style, Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing (minus one impulsive kill earlier on) victory, and role as the (unstereotypical aside from a fondness for fashion) first major LGBT character in the series.
  • Harris Greaves' moments as The Ace during his Hunger Games, love for his mother, and good working relationship with Haymitch during the 3rd Quarter Quell made him a character many fans were particularly sad was Doomed by Canon, even though he doesn't appear much outside of those points in the storyline.
  • Mindwell from District 10 has little to do in the story, but is notable for having some moments of kindness while mentoring during the 3rd Quarter Quell and for being the first victor to fight back against the Peacekeepers in the Signature Scene viewing center battle.
  • The street fair artist who imagines the District 13 tributes living to middle age in his paintings, Aurelian and his friends (a group of street kids who view Katniss as a role model and try to raise money for her), and the girl Haymitch gives a sparkler to in The Last Tribute are among the best-liked District 12 Capitol supporters in the series even though, aside from Aurelian and three of his friends, none of them have more than a single scene.

@ Angel

  • Sewer-feeling Gentle Giant Abner and vampire Miss Kitty Dyanna are two of the better-liked guest characters from the short-lived Dark Horse Comics series that premiered at the same time as the show.

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Scoot and Brock observed that May is inadvertently influenced by Ash's battle style, which relied heavily on dazzling power attacks similar to his own. While this approach served her well in the past, it proved ineffective against an experienced coordinator like Solidad, who shared the style, but is aware of the glaring flaw of vulnerability to maneuver and reprisal assaults. This ultimately led to May's crushing defeat in the semifinals.
  • Counter-Attack: After noticing May's preference for an aggressive battling style similar to her own, but with less experience, Solidad adapts her strategy to focus on evading and counterattacking May's moves, putting May in a vulnerable position.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • So many stories of sympathetically developing the merchant class of District 12 can make it tempting to hope that more of them survived the bombing but just missed being taken to District 13.
  • Fanfic Fuel: The stage guide for The Musical based on the 74th Hunger Games (included in the Archive of Our Own version of The Golden Mean) has song titles but no lyrics, while the colorful descriptions of what happens as each song is sung make it tempting to speculate on lyrics.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Haymitch's You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me! reaction to learning that there is a musical (which has been subjected to government censorship but actually has more rebel imagery-which also undermines the quality of the music-than before since the censor is another rebel) being made about Katniss and Peeta in the Hunger Games.
    • Prim calls Haymitch for an Other Me Annoys Me rant about how ridiculous it is that the actress playing her is dancing with a butterfly and singing about how she never wants to roam far from home ("I'd love to roam. Everbody wants to roam") and joking that she hopes bees and mosquitos will come out of the flowers the Prim actress is dancing through to attack her.
    • The Career mentors sarcastically applaud the scene of the show where Haymitch passes out.
    • When Haymitch asks why Plutarch and Fulvia added a number about Effie lecturing him for drinking, Plutarch says it was native to the first draft "and there are some of your friends who consider it native to your life."
    • The coda in the Archive of Our Own version of the story contains a stage guide and summary of the reviews to the story, with a few chucklers there.
      • Cinna giving Katniss the Girl on Fire costume in the play is preceded by a musical number called "What Shall We Do About You?" where he and Portia go through "more and more absurd ideas [before] they finally say that their intent is to set Katniss and Peeta on fire."
      • It's noted that most of the reviews of the first staging of the show "from other districts, many already in rebellion, indicated that the musical was considered in poor taste." That they take the time to make that clear during the rebellion is amusing.
      • Long after the rebellion, Katniss and Peeta's daughter plays Effie in a school play version of the show and rejects a suggestion that she play her mother since "It's weird enough to pretend to kiss Haymitch."

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Gia, the current District 12 escort, makes Beckett back away from whipping Haymitch with just a slightly raised voice and a stern look that falsely implies she has official backing to oppose that decision.
  • Kay Donner tells Beckett to her face that the collapse of the Capitol is inevitable and, after being sentenced to four hours of hard labor building a gallows, accepts a harsher punishment rather than perform the work due to how the gallows will be used to hang miners.
  • In response to the whippings, executions, and Divide and Conquer tactics of the Peacekeepers, a miner named Yarrow Crockett somehow smuggles a bomb into their barracks (a high-security location he has no known legitimate reason to visit). Regrettably, the timer fails, and the Peacekeepers survive to make Yarrow join those he tried to avenge, but it was an ok effort.
  • The rescue of Peeta, Johanna, and Annie is shown in great detail.
    • Messalla the Rebel propagandist and two Junior gamemakers who have been spying for Plutarch put themselves at risk while participating in the raid and being genuinely useful.
    • The Leeg twins arm themselves with melee weapons from the training center to quietly kill any guards they will encounter.
    • Seconds after being rescued from her torture chamber, Johanna grabs a gun to shoot a Peacekeeper who was Playing Possum and asks to keep it until they are safe.

@ The End of the World (FernWithy)

  • Plutarch talks to Haymitch and admits that for all of his ruthless moments, he has had a Wide-Eyed Idealist Black-and-White Morality schoolboy view (he was just a teenager when he first became a Rebel) of what the rebellion would be like and is bothered by how ruthless and controlling Coin is acting. While Haymitch reflects that Plutarch can get people killed by being too naive about the things people in power might do, the speech does move him.
@ The Victors Project

The Victors Project: Districts Nine to Twelve and the Capitol

    Benedictus
  • Evil Counterpart: To the unnamed junior gamemaker who helps rescue Enobaria in her chapter. Both game workers (although Benedictus was an intern rather than a full-time gamemaker) are former spies and rebel recruits of Plutarch who are involved in breaking an imprisoned victor out of her cell, but the similarities end there. The other gamemaker is loyal to Plutarch, is saving a Victor who Coin wants to assassinate, and apparently remained undercover in the Capitol during the rebellion. Benedictus helps a Victor escape custody as part of a plot for Coun to kill her (although it fails), casually rats out Plutarch to someone who contemplated executing him (although she gets killed before having a chance to give that order), and may have been one of the Capitol rebels who fled to District 13, given his loyalty to and association with Coin.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: He is impatient and patronizing, but he is introduced helping Jade escape from illegal imprisonment, only for it to turn out he is working for Coin and luring Jade and her friends into a trap.
  • Karma Houdini: Nothing bad happens to him on page despite him being a smarmy, cold-blooded accomplice to Coin and her misdeeds.

@ Sunnydale Residents

    Daniel

Daniel Addison

A dino-phile museum worker at the Sunnydale Museum of Natural History in the novel Paleo. He plots to hatch dinosaur eggs for fame and glory, a goal which is being manipulated by dangerous dark forces.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He is very knowledgeable about dinosaurs and has some raw cunning, but an old supervisor evaluation the Scooby Gang digs up on him describes him as someone unwilling to put in the hard work needed for success, a highly accurate description.
  • The Corruptor: New Transfer Student and fellow dino-phile Kevin Sanderson becomes less rational and moral the more time he spends listening to Daniel (who assumes a mentor role to him) talk about bringing back dinosaurs with magic.
  • Glory Seeker: His goal in life is to do something that will get people to know his name and he will hatch dangerous dinosaurs and shrug off a death they cause to achieve that goal.
  • Pet the Dog: He feels some sadness and respect while reading up on an archeologist who uncovered some of the stuff he plans to use after learning the man had his paltry bank balance donated to the museum due to having no next of kin or close peers when he died.

@ Johanna Mason: They Will Never See Me Cry

  • Johanna tries to keep Gloss facing her during the Cornucopia bloodbath as they duel, while Chaff and Seeder sneak up behind him to attack. However, seconds away from when they can lunge, Gloss reveals he knew what was happening the whole time and was luring Chaff and Seeder in, spinning around to stab Seeder while Cashmere appears on the other side of the Cornucopia to catch Chaff and Seeder between them.
Gloss: [N]ot much gets past me and my sister, even when we're on opposite sides of the Cornucopia.

@ Johanna Mason: They Will Never See Me Cry

  • Johanna learns that her dead ally Red was Finnick's nephew.
  • Johanna's kind and dainty mother becomes a Broken Bird after her husband dies and she has to watch her daughter kill people in the Hunger Games.
  • Finnick calling Johanna, crying, to tell her his sister was killed by the Capitol during a riot suppression action.
  • Johanna's conversation with her sixteen-year-old fellow mentor Byte during the 74th Hunger Games. She sees how out of depth he is after he only won through a Victory by Endurance achievement and lacks the fire that keeps so many other victors going. He knows his tribute is doomed despite being a de facto part of the Career Alliance and asks her to lie to him about how mentoring will get easier. The way Johanna speaks from experience and Byte knows what she really means is sad.
Johanna: No worries, hun, in a couple of weeks, you'll be fine. You'll probably never see their families in District 3. The media definetely won't plague you asking why you didn't do something that seems so obvious to them but escaped you in the heat of the moment. This time next year you won't even remember their names.
    • Then, a chapter later, Byte is asleep when his tribute dies, and Beetee talks with Johanna about how he's not good with people, but has to be there with Byte while Agnes, the third District 3 victor with them in the Capitol, tries to help but has a family to take care of.
Beetee: I'm not supposed to be a living emotional crutch to a boy who thinks people are dying because of him. I shouldn't be having to distutb the first sleep he's had in days to tell him that we've lost the fight once more.
  • Johanna's family is Doomed by Canon, but the way they die one by one after being so close-knit and happy early on is played for great tragedy, especially when her brother Joey, with his constant Children Are Innocent moments, goes.
  • Rue's death scene gets a Perspective Flip showing not only the mentors from her home district but also others like Johanna, Haymitch, Bit Character Gamma from District 5, Lyme, and even Marvel's mentor Gloss unashamedly crying, fixated on the scene, or looking at the ground.
  • After seeing Johanna's gradual bonding with District 7 escort Lalaney, it is a Gut Punch when Lalaney abruptly shows up serving the District 7 victors as an avvox, with the implication that Snow also avvoxed her husband and daughter (or maybe just killed them).
  • Kindly Scatter Brained Senior District 7 mentor Egor is beaten and probably killed by Peacekeepers as Johanna can only watch, moments before she is taken away to be prepared for the arena.
  • Johanna lies to Katniss that Haymitch and not Cinna told her to rendezvous with Wiress and Beetee, not wanting to get Cinna in trouble and not knowing that he has already fallen victim to the same treatment as Egor.
  • Despite Johanna claiming there is no one left that she loves for jabberjays to mimic the voices of, they still bring her to tears by imitating her brother, knowing that he may be dead, but she still loves him.

@ Johanna Mason: They Will Never See Me Cry

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Lampshaded. After the deaths of 12-year-old Rue and her killer Marvel, Johanna notes that Marvel's mentor Gloss is grieving but she can't tell which death upset him (although it's possible both did).
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • District 3 victor Byte is one of the best-liked characters despite only appearing in about ten chapters due to how he gets a Victory by Endurance without killing anyone and gets some emotional moments with Johanna when he seeks comfort while being out of his depth mentoring.
    • Johanna's Adorably Precocious Child little brother Joey is absent from large parts of the story due to how he stays behind whenever Johanna is in the Capitol or the arena, but he is a fan favorite.
    • Johanna's arena ally Red is very popular for being part of a Badass Family and being a Bruiser with a Soft Center who has some good chemistry with Johanna.
  • He's Just Hiding: The sequel story makes no direct mention of the non-Quell tribute victors besides Annie, making it nice to hope that some (especially from Districts 3 and 4) may have gone underground and survived the rebellion.
@ Johanna Mason: They Will Never See Me Cry
  • The Prankster: Betee confides in Johanna that he once electrified a chair to deliver (mild and non-dangerous) electrical shocks to a teacher and also sabotaged a vending machine to dump salt on the food.
@ We Must Be Killers
  • In a simultaneously awesome and heartwarming moment from the Fix Fic A District Upside Down: The War, dozens of victors, both ones who die in canon and all of the original survivors besides an indisposed Beetee, march on the city square to make Snow and his men surrender with a show of force. Then, when Coin tries to drop her parachute bombs like in canon, Beetee has found out what she is doing, hacked into the bombs, and makes them explode while they are too far from the ground to hurt anyone and are close enough to the hovercraft to damage it and make it land, whereupon a crowd of rebels promptly seize the crew and all the evidence they need to convict Coin of attempted mass murder.

The Karate Kid: Daniel LaRusso

What Would X Do?: Much of his Character Development, both as a parent and as a master, is understanding that what there was between him and Mr. Miyagi is not what there is now between him, his children and his students. Up until the end of season 4, for Daniel there's no right fighting or teaching style apart from Miyagi's one. This obsession is so strong that he ends up alienating his children and part of his students, until he's able to remember one important thing Miyagi explained to him, which is the fact that Daniel as well needs to find his own style, because there's no bad or wrong style as long as the practicioner is fair and honorable.

YMMV.Amazing Fantasy Number 15

  • Just Here for Godzilla: Being an anthology comic, the issue (and previous issues of Amazing Fantasy) contains several other stories, but most are only interested in it for the debut story of Spider-Man.

Trivia.Spider Man PS 4

YMMV.The Amazing Spider Man 2022

  • Critic-Proof: Despite the negative backlash the run has received from fans and critics for certain narrative and characterization decisions, Zeb Wells' run has been doing quite well in sales and has performed better on the charts than both Nick Spencer's run and Spider-Man Beyond.

For Characters. The Kindaichi Case Files Marin Hayama:

  • Manic Pixie Dream Girl: Marin is the new main female deuteragonist to Hajime Kindaichi. She's a comedic, talkative Ditzy Genius and Genki Girl (but sometimes stubborn and strong-willed) work partner who helps with both his works and murder cases. However, she sometimes upsets Hajime inadvertently, especially when he sees her wearing nothing but a set of transparent lingerie, which becomes a Running Gag every time he thinks or dreams about it. It helps that Hajime becomes more jaded and reluctant about solving murders than in his high school days because of the incident that led to him completely losing his drive towards solving mysteries for 20 years.

Scoot and Brock observe that May is inadvertently influenced by Ash's battle style, which relies heavily on dazzling power attacks similar to his own. While this approach served her well in the past, it proves ineffective against an experienced coordinator like Solidad, who shares the style, but is aware of the glaring flaw of vulnerability to maneuver and reprisal assaults. This ultimately leads to May's crushing defeat in the semifinals.

^ "...similar to his own" - Similar to whose own? You refer to at least two male characters (Brock and Ash), so it isn't clear who the "his" refers to.

^ If you don't understand what I'm talking about, just delete the phrase "similar to his own", since it isn't really necessary.
