Trivia.Spider Man Shattered Dimensions:

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Due to Activision losing the Spider-Man license in 2014, Shattered Dimensions, along with every Spider-Man title developed by Activision, would be delisted from all digital storefronts in 2014. It would be briefly re-issued on Steam a year later in 2015 with a new deal, before being permanently delisted two years later in 2017. As a result, the game has become increasingly difficult to obtain, with physical copies often going up for hundreds of dollars on secondhand markets.

  • What Could Have Been: HD remasters of Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time were allegedly planned by Activision to serve as a "quick money maker" to capitalize on the hype of Spider-Man (PS4), with Activision going as far as to make early prototypes. Marvel was initially on board with the idea and was close to approving a deal to allow the HD remasters. However, the deal fell through after Activison got too greedy and began pushing to develop new Marvel games, causing the HD remasters to get scrapped.

Trivia.Donkey Kong Country:

  • Permanent Placeholder: According to designers Gregg Mayles and Liv Bayliss, Country was derived from the game's working title The Country Project (named after Rare themselves, who developed in the countryside) and it wasn't originally planned to be the game's name. However, Nintendo liked the Country name and decided to keep it for the final title.

Hi Clare. Looking back, I can see that you might have some of the same complaints with me as Arivne and may not want to edit for me either. I hope that isn't true, but if it is, I understand. However, if you (or anyone else) is still willing to check my stuff, then here is a repost of the better stuff from my last post (some is irrelevant in retrospect) and some new stuff.

@ Judge Dee

  • Not Me This Time: In The Chinese Maze Murders, Judge Dee hears many horrid tales about Small-Town Tyrant Chian: that he has been extorting merchants, kidnapping people for slave labor, burning down the homes of his enemies, filling false reports to the Imperial Court, and committing murders. After he arrests Chian, Dee learns that Chian is guilty of most of these offenses (and a few even worse acts of treason that don't initially come to light) but not murdering a previous magistrate or abducting a blacksmith’s daughter to be his concubine.
  • Practically Different Generations: In The Chinese Maze Murders, a dead governor left behind two sons from different marriages, one of whom is forty when the story begins, while the other is twelve. The older son accused his half-brother of being illegitimate, but this is a lie and they are in fact related. The age gap between the sons is actually a plot point. The father realized that his older son had a criminal disposition and would likely be caught and executed or sent to prison one day, so he remarried a younger woman mainly to have another son to continue his line in case his dark predictions about his firstborn son came true. They do.

@ John Wick: Chapter 4

  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: The mothers of Caine and Koji’s daughters are never seen or mentioned.
  • Fanservice Extra: Plenty of young people wearing clothes that show a lot of skin are seen dancing in the nightclub where John fights Killa.
  • Men of Sherwood: The Continental Osaka hospitality department is made up of fierce fighters who do take some losses while defending the hotel but give as good as they get and have many members who are only knocked unconscious or are last seen retreating toward the end of the fight and may have survived. Their skill and survival rate are especially notable to anyone who contrasts them with the New York Continental guards from the previous film. Save for Charon, that group were all killed in about a minute without inflicting a single kill against their attackers.
  • The Un-Reveal: The Marquis asks Mr. Nobody how he tracked John Wick to Osaka and if there was any trick to it beyond the simple common sense of looking up a known associate of Wick, but never gets an answer.

@ Shoot the Builder

  • Shadows of the Empire The sourcebook short story "Only One of Her Kind" shows Xizor purchase the human replica droid Guri and then have her kill the scientist who is primarily (although not solely) responsible for her creation so no one else will have a similar weapon. This effort fails because the scientist was Properly Paranoid enough to make a replica droid of himself and have that droid deliver Guri to Xizor.

@ Obi-Wan Kenobi

  • Older Than They Think: Owen being a Badass Normal who fights a Dark Side user with blasters to protect a young Luke traces all the way back to the 2005 comic one-shot "Old Wounds" (a Legends era story largely believed to be non-canon even before the reboot), where he even kills Darth Maul.

@ The Spectacular Spider-Man

  • Every moment between Calypso and Kraven is sweet. They are playful between hunts, she is supportive of him after he suffers defeats, and her love for him doesn't waver even after he mutates himself into a lion hybrid.

@ The Island at the Top of the World

  • When Brieux stops Ross from going outside to do some risky repairs, he snaps that only an idiot would go out there and do that. Then, after a moment of reflection, he admits he has to do it himself.
  • After being a blunt, impatient hothead for 90% of his screentime, Ross is shocked and offended that Ivarsson hints that he might not be tactful enough to question Oomiak.
  • Ivarsson tries to butter up Oomiak by saying they have heard many stories about him. Oomiak is skeptical, saying not even his own sled dogs have heard of him.

@ Bruce Wayne: Not Super

Younger versions of the We Are Robin Group, the Grant Morrison version of Batman International, and everyone to wear a Batgirl or Batwoman costume will cameo as groups of heroes inspired by Batman ... who suffer Epic Fails that suffer Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube! fates that embarass Bruce
.

Gotham Prep is an Academy of Evil that is being subtle about it
.
  • At least three supervillains are on the faculty and the vice-principal encourages bad behavior in the next generation of potential heroes (letting Clark be a Big Jerk on Campus, wanting Jack and Bane to rob banks, etc.). Maybe the entire faculty is in on what he is doing.
  • Maybe Penguin (who Clark bullies in gym class) will be one of their Corrupt the Cutie successes.
  • Maybe in this universe, Thomas and Martha were murdered because they found out what was going on at the school they built.

Arrow S4 E4 "Beyond Redemption":

  • My God, What Have I Done?: Quentin subtly and tearfully implies while explaining to Oliver why the former would work for Darhk with Star City in dire straits, he realizes that by allowing his anger over not being told about Sara's death much sooner turn him into the League's Unwitting Pawn, he drove Oliver away, the one person who would have done something about the whole situation.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun

  • Moon Logic Puzzle: The requirements to obtain the Legendary Leaf during the Harvest Festival are incredibly obtuse, something that the Legendary Leaf itself admits after revealing its sentience. To even know where to find the legendary seed and pot needed to create the leaf, the participant must decypher a riddle only known by the animals in the festival, not only it would be impossible for most demons to know the riddle's existence because most demons can't even understand animals, but it's also counter-intuitive for the tournament since the participants need to beat and collect animals to gain points. Then, to get the seed and the pot, the participant must enter two different caves and faces a powerful entities in each (thankfully, there is another solution than direct fight for both). On their way, the participant must also help a trapped student who seems to be another participant but is secretely in cahoot with the school staff since said student holds the watering can needed to make the leaf bloom. Even with all these secret conditions fulfilled, the participant needs plenty of mana to make the leaf bloom. According to the Legendary Leaf, the solution was intentionnaly overly complicated so it could done by a demon who thinks differently than other demons, which is why Iruma could do it since he's secretely a human, so his unusual compassion was one key to win the leaf. Teaming up with other students is also what allowed him to win since having Lied as his teammate divided to research time for the seed and the pot and most of Iruma's classmates helped him and Lied in some way, which is quite notable since demons tend to be selfish, but all of Iruma's classmates were influenced by Iruma's unique good nature.

Legends of Idleon

  • Company Cross-References: The game contains several references to Idle Skilling, another game LavaFlame2 made before Legends of Idleon.
    • Several enemies, equipments and skills originally come from Idle Skilling
    • The NPC Bandit Bob was a recurring enemy you could encounter in various forms.
    • The Pincermins and Sand Giants enemies in Yum-Yum Desert were Crusade bosses in Idle Skilling. There's even a possible daily task where the player must go to the Sand Giants' area and say "Those would be cool crusade bosses".
  • Creator Cameo: LavaFlame2 himself plays the game and can be encountered since it's a MMO. He's easily recognizable since he's twice as big as the other players.
  • Dem Bones:
    • The NPC Meel is a dancing skeleton.
    • The NPC Killroy is a floating skull.
    • Efaunt is a giant skeleton with six arms and an elephant head.
    • The FrostBite Tundra world has two skeletal enemies called Xylobone and Bloodbone.

@Arivne got it.

Age of Empires II: Units

Eagle Warrior Line

  • Fragile Speedster: While not as fast as the Scout Cavalry line, they are the fastest infantry in the game.
  • Nerf: Rise of the Rajas increases their training time in the Castle Age, and Definitive Edition reduces the Eagle Scout's line of sight in the Dark Age, making them less effective early game scouts.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Since African Kingdoms makes the Eagle Warrior into an upgrade for the Eagle Scout, its stats are buffed in the expansion.

Petard

  • Awesome, yet Impractical: Petards deal heavy damage per attack, and their bonus damage against buildings is the highest in the game. Sadly, they die laughably easily. Even with their high damage, the cost of creating enough Petards to destroy anything besides siege units (which they also get bonus damage against) and Wonders is actually greater than the resources used to create the target in question.
  • Crippling Over Specialization: Petards deal massive damage to buildings and have respectable damage against siege units. However, most units that Petards do not do bonus damage against will survive their attacks. Without that bonus damage, the number of Petards it takes to destroy a unit costs more resources than the unit in question.

Eternal Darkness

The Ancients

  • Inexplicably Awesome: What the Ancients are and why they are so powerful is never explained.
  • Mysterious Past: Whatever past the Ancients have is likely a mystery to all but the Ancients themselves.
  • Time Abyss: How old the Ancients are is up in the air, only that they have existed longer than humanity has.

Hercules

  • Flunky Boss: Medusa calls in an endless supply of skeleton warriors to attack Hercules in addition to her own attacks.
  • Guide Dang It!: The boss fight with Nessus. He is immune to standard forms of attack. The player hurts him by jumping on his back, something there is no indication they can or are supposed to do.

Disney's Hades Challenge

  • Bad Boss: Hades beats Pain and Panic multiple times throughout the game. In his defense, he beats them after their bumbling accidentally helps the player.
  • Evil Is Petty: After the player gets a trophy, Hades will quiz them on the various tidbits on Greek mythology they find throughout the game. If the player gets a question wrong, Hades will shrink their trophy.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: Monsters and other threats are terrorizing Greece, and even though Zeus isn't busy with anything, he insists on Phil getting a hero to fix things. That said, he and the other gods give the player gifts.
  • Poke the Poodle: Hades will quiz the player on Greek mythology after they get a trophy. The ominous setup hints that he will do something terrible if they fail to pass the quiz. Nope. All Hades does is shrink the trophy and insult them for getting the question wrong.

Hercules The Animated Series S 1 E 23 Hercules And The Phil Factor

  • Jerkass: Chiron mocks Phil every chance he gets, and his guide on being a hero culminates in him mocking the reader, saying they will never be a hero.
  • Logical Weakness: The Catoblepas has a hide made of bronze, which means the spear Hercules tries to use against it bounces off. Since its skin is made of metal, it also means it sinks once it falls into the sea.
  • Super Drowning Skills: The Catoblepas sinks like a stone when it falls into the sea. Justified as its skin is made of bronze, so it's much heavier than a flesh and blood animal.

Hercules: The Animated Series

  • Defeat Equals Friendship: After Hercules defeats Fear and Terror at their trivia board game, he continues to play the game with the two to help him study history.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: When Fear and Terror challenge Hercules to a trivia board game and use Athena's pet owl to figure out the answers to the questions, Hercules accuses them of cheating. Fear points out that Hercules attempted the same thing with his school mid-term exam, so he has no room to talk.
  • Loser Deity: Many of the gods.
    • Ares and Athena have been locked into Sibling Rivalry since they were children and will resort to petty pranks to get under the other's skin. Even though Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom and is Hercules' ally, whenever her feud with Ares comes up, she proves to be just as petty as her brother.
    • Poseidon is an idiot and a bore. In a meeting with Hades, he talks about how he created aquatic mammals, which Hades states he has had to sit through more than once, and explains the mammals used to die before he gave them blowholes. In that same meeting, Hades tricks Posedian into giving him control of Athens.
    • Trivia is frequently bullied and gets no respect for talking about inane things.

Hercules The Animated Series S 1 E 11 Hercules And The Tapestry Of Fate

  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: The Fates seemingly have a Pet the Dog moment when Hercules restores the Tapestry, so they get tickets to the Orpheus concert. However, then it turns out they caused Orpheus to lose his voice, so the concert is canceled.
  • Mugging the Monster: Hercules is attacked by Arachne while trying to find the Tapestry. Since Hercules is a god, not only does this not hurt him, but Arachne breaks her teeth.
  • No-Sell: Arachne tries biting Hercules and breaks her teeth since, with reality rewritten, Hercules is a god.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Hilariously defied. Phil suggests Hercules get into the Orpheus concert by getting Zeus to help. Not even having the Top God as his father is enough for Hercules to get into the concert.
  • Villain World: Hades rewriting the Tapestry makes him the ruler of Olympus and, by extension, the world.

The Simpsons S5 E5 "Treehouse of Horror IV"

  • The Devil Is a Loser: The Devil nearly loses Homer's soul out of the gate when he makes the mistake of blurting out that he only gets Homer's soul if he finishes the doughnut. When Homer mocks him after finding a loophole to keep his soul, the Devil turns into a giant but doesn't do anything besides boasting he will have Homer's soul. He only comes close to getting Homer's soul because Homer keeps the last piece of the doughnut and finishes it despite the notes telling him not to. Despite hand-picking the jury for the trial over Homer's soul, the Devil still loses.
