Batman: Rogues Gallery (Part 1)

    Grasshopper Gang

The Grasshopper Gang

Alter Ego: Unnamed brothers

First Appearance Detective Comics #334 (December, 1964)

Identical brothers who appear twice during the Silver Age. They are skilled contortionists who initially use Twin Switch methods to make Batman think there is only one of them, who is capable of jumping distances no regular human can jump.

  • Collective Identity: There are two Grasshoppers (with a third one, possibly another brother, joining them in their second appearance), but they initially pretend to be a single villain.
  • Contortionist: They are double-jointed and use this skill to hide in places most people wouldn't be able to fit into, such as a chandelier.
  • Genius Bruiser: They are tough and athletic criminals who also deliberately let Batman figure out their Twin Switch to make him feel confident as they lure him into a trap.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: The only thing that distinguishes them from each other is their voices.

@ Batman: Supporting Cast

    Detectives Murphy and Moses
Two homicide detectives who appear in several issues throughout the nineties. —-
  • Only One Name: Neither detective ever gets a first name.
  • Those Two Guys: They are a Salt and Pepper duo who always appear together and are more notable for their playful, established banter than they are for solving crimes.

    Stanley Kitch

A former lawyer and sometimes partner of Harvey Bullock. Gordon trusts him enough to let him work with Batman on occasion. He appears in the Post-Crisis era.

    Billy Petit
A Trigger-Happy S.W.A.T. cop best known for his role in ''Batman: No Man's Land.
  • Crazy Survivalist: He is a swaggering, gun-toting cop who has been hiding caches of ammo throughout the city long before the earthquake that made them come in handy.
  • Rank Up: He is a mere sniper in his debut, but leads the S.W.A.T. team afterward.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Even on his best days he is a Blood Knight, and he spends most of No Man's Land enforcing law-and-order with brutal methods before Jumping Off the Slippery Slope and becoming a borderline warlord who will kill anyone who upsets him.

    Other Major Crimes Unit Members
Detectives such as Marcus Driver, Romy Chandler, Josephine "Josie Mac" MacDonald, Vincent Del Arazzio, Sarge Davies, Nelson Crowe, Joely Barlett, and Tommy Burke frequently appear in the Lower-Deck Episode series Gotham Central, but rarely appear outside of it.
  • No Hero to His Valet: Most of them look at Batman with distrust and frustration despite his Man of the City status, being frustrated about how he rarely communicates with them and can't keep a lid on villains like Joker and Mr. Freeze.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Most of them never appear before the first issue of Gotham Central (Del Arrazio, Bartlett, MacDonaldcivilian worker Stacy, and the Out of Focus Detective Eric Cohen are among the few exceptions) but are treated as cops who've spent a long time dealing with Batman and his Rogues Gallery.

The Mystery Analysts of Gotham City
A Pre-Crisis group of detectives (D.A. Danton, Kaye Daye, Art Saddows, Hugh Rankin, Martin Tellerman, and initially Ralph Vern) who include Batman and Commissioner Gordon in their circle and regularly meet to discuss tough mysteries. They appear (whether together or individually) in about twenty issues from 1964 to 1978, before being dropped by the writers as Batman began his transition into a Darker and Edgier loner.
  • Distinguished Gentleman's Pipe: Saddows is a thoughtful and upper class reporter who is always smoking a pipe.
  • Evil Old Folks: Ralph Vern, the oldest member of the group, turns out to have ambitions of committing The Perfect Crime and eventually acts on them.
  • Hard Boiled Detective: Hugh Rankin is a street-smart private investigator who is good with his fists but engages in gadgets and trickery when needed. He is one of the only members who is constantly helpful in the field, although it also takes him several issues to prove his worth and be accepted into the club.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Art Saddows is a crime beat reporter and one of the more accomplished members of the group.
  • Keep the Reward: Martin Tellerman once saved the life of a millionaire art collector's son and refused to take a reward. The persistent millionaire secretly replaced Martin's copies of famous paintings with the originals (after purchasing them legally), but Tellerman donates them to a museum once he learns the truth. The museum names a wing after him, which is a reward he is willing to accept.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: All of them are competent enough, but never seem to solve anything on their own while Batman is around.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Mystery author Kaye Daye is the only woman in the group.

@ Don't Call Me Ishmael!

  • Motor Mouth: Scobie is prone to making extremely long speeches over what appear to be short time periods. Often, these are Rousing Speeches or Shut Up, Hannibal! moments that are played for awesomeness rather than comedy.
  • Always Someone Better: In the first book, Ishmael reflects about how he had a school assignment to decorate a peg like a famous person, spent hours on it, and failed miserably. When Prue had that same assignment a few years later, she enthusiastically made over a hundred pegs recognizably modeled after famous figures.

@ The King Nobody Wanted

He describes alcohol as a “family evil” when refusing a drink, and several of the worst Targaryens, like Brightflame (who died during an Alcohol-Induced Idiocy moment), Aegon II, and Aegon IV, were fond of drinking.

The bad prophecy Cersei got from Maegy the Frog focuses on her firstborn child rather than all of them.

For Bendy and the Ink Machine

Nathan Arch

  • Parental Neglect: He was a neglectful father to his son Wilson. He only ever focused on his business, making Wilson feel like he would never be as good as the creators and 'doers' in the world.

  • Superior Successor: He became the owner of the Bendy franchise after Joey ran his studio into the ground. While he was just as corrupt as Joey, he seems to be a far more competetant businessman. His company, 'Archgate Pictures' is shown to have remained successful for decades and All in a stark contrast to the disaster Joey Drew Studios became.

  • Red Herring: With him being the new owner of the Bendy franchise, and some ominous statements we hear from him, the Dark Revival seems like it is building him up as a potential threat. It is later revealed he is technically responsible for the games' plot, but only indirectly. His neglect of his son Wilson is what motivates him to kick off the games' main conflict. Nathan himself seems to have been oblivious about the supernatural aspects of the franchise.

The Ink Demon

  • Ambiguous Start of Darkness: He sheds his illusive and mysterious nature in the Dark Revival; where he is revealed to be openly cruel, manipulative and egotistical. There remains ambiguity on if he was always like this, or if he only became this way after being locked away by Joey.

  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Audrey's Abel. Both are creations of Joey Drew, born from the Ink he used in his experiments. He knows that they both came from 'the dark puddles', and thus desires to assimilate Audrey into himself.

  • Cold Ham: In the Dark Revival, he is boastful and dramatic, yet rarely raises his voice.

  • Heel–Face Reincarnation: Mixed with Heel–Face Brainwashing. Once Audrey takes control of the Ink dimension, she recreates Bendy as a more benevolent entity to be her assistant.

If someone could add some of these for me, while also touching up some of the Grammer, I would appreciate it.

Reposting this until it finally gets some feedback.

For Wall-E.

  • Accidental Hero: A variation with the Buy N Large corporation. Their initial plan was to send humanity in a cruise away from Earth for 5 years. They would spend those 5 years cleaning up the planet. But since the Earth became too toxic, they were forced to abandon that idea and leave humanity in space for eternity. All things considered though, they definitely saved the human race, since they were evacuated before the Earth became inhospitable.

Oh. Right. One thing, Arivne. About the Laville thing...

Firstly, in context of the story (you don't need to dig too much into it), Laville is not getting extra incomes, it's more like he's getting insurance for the job, good place to sleep while working or other beneficial things. So instead of other potential income, I'd say other potential benefits sound better.

Secondly...

^ It's not clear whether all of this occurs in the main body of the work (in which case it should be in present tense) or in the past of the work. If it did occur in the past, you should say "Before the work begins" or something like that at the beginning to make that clear to the reader.

Usually the beginning of the paragraph signify the events of the past. But I can understand if you're a bit confused. So... I decided to modify a certain sentence into Now, as a member of Veda, therefore, after this one, it's present tense. The question is...

Would it fit better if the sentences from Now and forward get put in a different paragraph to better signify "Okay, we're no longer in past tense. We're now in present tense."?

Hi fellas. It's me again. Let's have another try.

Some tropes for Total Drama episodes, characters and others:

  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Many find really Out of Character for DJ to join Duncan and Geoff in picking on Harold throughout the episode given his stereotypical characterization as a Gentle Giant, but if one recalls why DJ was forced against his will to swim and push all of his team's canoes to win the challenge in "Up the Creek", it was because Harold stupidly burned all the oards down. Was DJ's bullying on Harold revenge for that incident and opted to move on once Harold admitted his underwear problems? After all, whereas Duncan and Geoff keep annoying Harold two episodes later, DJ leaves him alone.
    • Was Harold's insistence at the dirty underwear not being his despite obvious evidence of the contrary just stubborn, inconsiderate pride? Or maybe he was planning to pick it up but because of Duncan being the first one ordering him to do so opted to not do it because he didn't want to give Duncan any satisfaction.
    • When Duncan kisses Courtney and is congratuled by Geoff for winning her heart, Harold looks surprised and then glares at the two, with Courtney being eliminated after they lose the challenge thanks to Harold rigging the votes. While the scene was likely the moment in which Harold got the idea that eliminating his rival's girlfriend would make him miserable, maybe his surprise and glare was because he also had crush on Courtney or because he felt that it was absolutely unfair that after bugging him all the season Duncan got a girlfriend while he didn't get one?
    • In contrast to Duncan, Geoff and DJ being surprised at Courtney being eliminated and Harold staying, Bridgette just stands there emotionless as Harold goes to his marshmallow. Did this mean that she also voted Courtney off and/or didn't expect Harold to be eliminated? Or maybe she correctly guessed that Harold had done something but didn't say anything as she felt that Duncan and Courtney deserved it for being so cruel to him?
    • After Duncan threatens him for mocking him how Lindsay bested him during the skii challenge, Chris fearfully gives Duncan the last marshmallow and announces Harold's elimination, remarking that he was safe anyway and was just teasing him. Was Harold indeed voted off or maybe Duncan was the one eliminated but his threats were enough for Chris to spare him? If the latter's the case, as Chris was aware of Harold rigging the votes last episode to eliminate Courtney unfarily, maybe Chris saw giving Duncan the last marshmallow despite him being out as a perfect karma for Harold due to his previous cheating?
  • Ass Pull:
    • Despite him being the one who costed his team the challenge by eating all the food, especially the ribs, they had prepared for Chris, Owen isn't even in the bottom two during the elimination ceremony, with Beth ultimately getting the boot due to her Tikki doll apparently cursing the Screaming Gophers. As there's no factual evidence that the curse was real, most fans (especially those who dislike Owen) feel like Owen should have been booted here due to foolishly screwing up the challenge for his team. Thus, it isn't uncommon for some fanfic retellings of the first season to have Owen eliminated here.
    • Lindsay's elimination by accidentally voting for herself instead of Duncan is seen, by most fans, as one of the worst eliminations in the show, especially given how much focus was given to Lindsay during the season similarly to Harold to the point she was considered one of the season's protagonists and a deserving winner, but by sparing Duncan, it seems to validate the suspicions of the writers giving Duncan constant Plot Armor. It doesn't help either that Lindsay was a bit smarter here than last season, so a random moment of stupidity costing her stay in the competition was seen as something too forced to keep Duncan in the game.
  • Broken Base:
    • People are divided on who was in the wrong in this episode. Some say it's Harold for leaving his dirty underwear around the cabin and refusing to pick it up when confronted by lying that it wasn't his despite obvious evidence of the contrary, which make the pranks Duncan, Geoff y DJ subject him to a bit justified in their eyes. However, others point out that the trio took it too far with their pranks, especially the last one, in which they left a naked Harold sleeping on the Dock of Shame only to wake up and find himself exposed in front of the competition's remaining girls, aside that what Harold did was something understandably embarassing to own it up and that, given how Duncan had already pick on him unprovoked in past episodes, Duncan decided to bully him mainly because he likes to bug him. And then there are those who think the four guys were in the wrong: Harold should have been more a more considerate teammate but Duncan, Geoff and DJ should have handled it better.
    • People are divided on if Harold was justified in voting Courtney off or not. Most fans find it stupid for him to vote Courtney off when it was Duncan the one who picked on him: while Courtney did mistreat him occasionally in previous episodes (something that is much overlooked by most of Courtney's fans), she didn't seem to particularly enjoy the bullying Harold was subjected to. However, others argue that given how Duncan didn't seem really interested in the competition from the beginning and due to his popularity on the team, Harold likely deduced that if he voted Duncan off, not only he wouldn't have really cared, but the rest of his teammates would have deduced that he had something to do with his elimination, so by voting Courtney off, Harold knew that it would make Duncan miserable due to forcing him to stay in the game without his girlfriend.
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Duncan being arrested by the Canadian police after blowing up Chris' cottage, as unfair as it's due to Chris often doing worse and getting away with it, can be seen as something gratifying due to all the jerkish things he did in previous season, from his constant unjustified bullying on Harold during the first two seasons to his unfaithfulness to Courtney and the infamous love triangle between him, her and Gwen in the third season. Sure, the episode's exclusive clip hints at Duncan getting sexually assaulted, if not raped, by his cellmate, but after all, Duncan also did something similar to Harold when he left him naked in front of Camp Wawanakwa's female population in season one.
    • Despite how infamous the episode is due to its handling of Courtney, seeing Courtney being humiliated and eliminated can be seen as rewarding for her horrid and jerkish behaviour in previous seasons and how she always prioritized winning over friends and relationships, even planning to backstab her best friend and her new boyfriend. This may have been intentional, as the show's writers have stated that they never intended to redeem Courtney.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends:
    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the scene in which Heather accidentally exposes her breasts to Harold was originally uncensored, but that Cartoon Network had Fresh TV censor them with Pixelation so they could air it for their target audience. While Fresh has depicted female nudity on other productions by them like Western Animation/Sixteen, something unusual back then and nowadays, all those moments have never been uncensored, so whatever videos of Heather's uncensored breasts that can be found on the Internet are likely fake or made by fans.
    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the episode originally had an scene in which Heather discovered that she had immunity by looking through the lock of her treasure chest, hence her risky plan to make it look like Trent was cheating on Gwen to have him voted off. While there's no evidence such scene existed, it somewhat makes sense for Heather's plans, as she knew she had no allies other than Lindsay by that point and trying to frame Trent from being unfaithful despite the possibility of everyone seeing through her ruse and voting her off sounds something risky for an expert strategist like her.
    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the reason the episode's original plot was scrapped was because Novie Edwards had other commitments, hence why her elimination was unintentionally caused by the losers. It's unknown if this is indeed the case, but the fact that Leshawna never speaks in the episode seems to be one of the reasons this rumor was sparked.
    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that Ezekiel being eliminated first in this episode, which eventually turns him into a feral Gollum expy, was to spite popular Total Drama fanfic writer The Kobold Necromancer due to his Total Drama Comeback fanfic being considered superior by several fans to Action. To drive the point home, Kobold is particularly known among the fandom for giving satisfying Character Development to Ezekiel in his stories, which only fueled Ezekiel's popularity among the fans. As some vague references to Kobold have been included in the show, plus Word of God stating that Ezekiel wasn't originally planned to compete in World Tour until they realized how popular he was, many fans assume Ezekiel was brought back as a Butt-Monkey just to mock his immense fanbase. Needless to say, this plot point was the reason World Tour ended up being Kobold's less favorite season.
    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the finale was to be Courtney vs. Zoey or Courtney vs. Lindsay, but that Cartoon Network didn't wish for a all-female finale despite having an all-male finale in Revenge of the Island, which makes several fans believe that the network and Fresh TV are sexist. While there's no word on if Cartoon Network's executives are sexist or not, Fresh TV's executives likely aren't, considering the many female employees they have in addition that there's no solid proof that Courtney or Lindsay were ever meant to reach the finale, but given how Courtney's storyline of forgiving Gwen being thrown off in two episodes ago despite no hints at Courtney secretly planning to backstab her was so sudden, many fans also believe that Ed McDonald deliberately made Courtney lose to prevent her from reaching the finale.
    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the finale was to be Jasmine vs. Sky, but Cartoon Network didn't wish an all-female finale and had the writers take Shawn to the finale while eliminating Jasmine in the Final Four, which makes several fans believe that the network and Fresh TV are sexist. While there's no word on if Cartoon Network's executives are sexist or not, Fresh TV's executives likely aren't, considering the many female employees they have in addition that Sky ends up winning the finale in the original ending, which makes her the first female official winner in the show. However, given how Chris reveals Sky's lies about her not having a boyfriend to Dave to screw her up, some speculate if maybe the crew was forced to implement such plot point with no foreshadowings just to paint Sky in a negative light and make Shawn more rootable.
    • It's also widely rumored among the fandom that Sky and Dave were going to end up together and that Keith was a controlling boyfriend, hence Sky's line of her need to say goodbye to him because he was in the room with her. According to these rumors, Sky was originally going to mention Keith early on the season by telling Dave that she doesn't wish to have a boyfriend after she discovered Keith kissing her best friend, but promising Dave to date him once the competition ends. However, instead of her audition tape, Chris was gonna reveal a video filmed at the airport when Sky was saying goodbye to her acquaintances before leaving for Total Drama, with Keith among them, leading Sky to admit that she discovered Keith's unfaithfulness the night before taking her flight so she didn't have time to properly break up with him. Had this concept been included, Sky's boyfriend twist wouldn't have felt so forced, and while there's no concrete evidence this was the case, it's said that Sky's sister was gonna appear in the scene, and given how she later shows up in Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race, it adds more credibility to the theory.
  • Signature Scene:
    • Heather's breast being exposed to Harold are considered one of the show's highlights, given how uncommon female nudity was on children's television back then and still is nowadays.
    • Ezekiel falling into the volcano with the suitcase of money in reference to Gollum's death in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is the best known moment in the episode for two reasons: 1) It makes Ezekiel "technically" win the season's prize and 2) He deprives both Alejandro and Heather from the money, as several found unable to root for them given their villainous actions throughout the season or before it.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The Final Three being skipped by Courtney and Owen being eliminated in the Final Four was seen as something boring and anti-climatic by several fans who wished for a conventional challenge, hence yet another one of the reasons many say Action didn't live up to Island. Doesn't help that All-Stars would repeat the same concept three seasons later, though in that case, given how the show stopped having 26-episode long seasons after World Tour, it was something necessary.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • Katie's encouragement to Sadie about not giving up and doing her best to make it further in the competition, in addition to Katie's stereotype being the "Sweet Girl" and Sadie's stereotype being the "Sweet Girl's Friend", could have led Sadie to undergo an arc of learning to be herself and not just imitate what Katie does. However, after the following episode, Sadie gets Demoted to Extra and doesn't even make a speaking appearance until her boot episode.
    • Harold's friendly interactions with Bridgette during the challenge, especially when he comforts her by assuring her that they would only pretend to hunt and not doing so for real, could have developed into a close friendship that could have generated tensions among Bridgette and her other friends in the team, given how she does seem to be the only Killer Bass who does get along with Harold, perhaps even standing up for him in the following episodes when Duncan, Geoff and DJ pick on him. However, nothing ever comes from this, though Bridgette still remains friendly with him and is shown to not enjoy the bullying he is subjected to.
    • The possibility of the underwear not actually belonging to Harold like he claimed sounds like an interesting twist that could have started an intriguing plotline of how the boys would react to learn they had targeted the wrong person and how the other campers would react upon learning that the Killer Bass unfairly bullied one of their own teammates. Unfortunately, this possibility is never picked up and everyone seems to have forgotten this event in the following episode.
      • Harold could have also started to scheme a revenge plot not only on Duncan, Geoff and DJ, but also on the remaining girls for joining them in their last prank, possibly even becoming a villain himself. Perhaps even Heather could have instead not joined on the last prank and recruit him into her alliance.
    • Harold and Duncan becoming friends and moving on from their rivalry could have been a perfect way for the two to finally bury the hatchet and team up for the rest of the game, perhaps even making it to the finale and split the money if they won, departing the competition as equals. Unfortunately, under Chris' orders, Owen screws up the possibility by provoking Duncan into making fun of Leshawna.
    • Lindsay successfully voting for Duncan rather than herself is what many fans wished it should have happened, given how Lindsay shined in the season and underwent a great deal of Character Development by learning to not let others manipulate her and learn some leadership skills, to the point many feel Lindsay deserved to make it to the finale.
    • Harold getting Duncan, Courtney and Beth to vote Owen off by informing them about Owen's true role as Chris McLean's mole instead of keeping the information for himself and thus getting eliminated is what many fans wished it should have happened, given how Harold shined in the season and underwent a great deal of Character Development by using his skills much more to lead his team to victory and learning to stand up for himself, to the point many feel Harold deserved to make it to the finale.
    • Ezekiel undergoing Character Development after being the first boot in the first season could have been an interesting way to flesh him out after not competing in Action. Instead of Cody, Ezekiel could have been the boy assigned to Team Amazon and show if he has abandoned his sexist beliefs since his stay at Playa Des Losers. However, whatever potential Ezekiel had is thrown away when he loses the challenge for his team and gets voted off first again.
    • Rather than leaving here, many fans wish that Tyler had stayed in the game and made it to the merge given how he didn't reach it in Island. However, just like Noah, Tyler ends up being booted in favor of Duncan's return, which is yet another reason several fans hated Duncan's return in World Tour, as they feel that Duncan's return prevented Noah and Tyler from making it far.
  • Uncertain Doom:
    • The butler of the McLean Hotel & Spa is seen playing the violin as Camp Wawanakwa sinks, and unlike the interns, he is seen't the following season. Due to his scene parodying the iconic Titanic (1997) sinking scene, his survival chances don't look good.
    • Alejandro and Heather are last seen swimming away from Fang after Camp Wawanakwa sinks, as Mike got Fang obsessed with them by giving Alejandro Fang's missing tooth. However, as no following seasons have featured the villainous couple, it's hard to know if they escaped with their lives or not.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Though she ends up being attacked by Egyptian scarabs after being eliminated in All-Stars for mocking them in Egypt's sewers with the implication that no one heard her or came to her rescue, her silhouette is seen among the balloons in the season finale, implying that at the very least, she survived if not completely unscathed.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Harold is supposed to be in the wrong here, but it's hard to blame him for denying that the dirty underwear was his given that it's something understandably embarassing to admit, let aside the fact that while Duncan, Geoff and DJ started pranking him lightly, the following pranks went too far, especially the last one which consisted on him being left nude to wake up in the Dock of Shame the next morning and be exposed in front of the remaining girls, something that can be easily considered traumatic and psychologically scarring.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Duncan, Geoff and DJ are supposed to be in the right here due to Harold not being a considerate teammate by leaving his dirty underwear all over the cabin and refusing to pick it up. However, while it's true that Harold should have been more respectful and their pranks were initially more lighthearted, their following pranks like burning his genitals with hot sauce, giving him an "underwear sandwich" to consume and leaving him sleeping naked so all the remaining girls could see him naked the following morning went too far, not to mention that the last one could be considered sexual assault. Even if they were somewhat justified in pranking Harold here, Duncan and Geoff still picking on him unprovoked two episodes later makes them come off as assholish jerks who don't keep their promises and just bully Harold For the Evulz.
  • What Could Have Been: The episode originally involved a fashion style challenge that Heather would have won, leading to Leshawna's elimination due to Heather being given the choice of selecting which camper she wished to eliminate. This makes sense given how the episode's title doesn't have any sense, as "Haute Campture" is a pay on the term "Haute Couture", which consists in high end fashion based in France.
"Each camper is getting their minutes of fame - or make that, five minutes of shame, when they compete in the Total Drama Modeling Challenge. Dressed in heels in wigs and forced to strut their stuff, they will be judged on their walking, talking and hawking as they participate in the photo shoot. Owen scores big points with the judges, but loses big time friendships when he gets caught in multi-alliances. If the campers humiliation weren't tested to the limits, their courage will be when they are told they must do their final catwalk performance on a tiny runway over a pit of crocodiles! In the end, one camper reigns supreme when they fall into the croc pits and face off with the hungry beasts."
  • What Happened to the Mouse??:
    • The fates of Blaineley, Ezekiel and Heather (though in the latter's case, only in her ending) are left explicitly undisclosed by the end of the episode, with Blaineley disappearing after running over Alejandro with her dolly and not being amose swimming away for safety, Zeke is thrown out of the volcano into the Boat of Losers but doesn't emerge after sinking it and, in Heather's ending, the episode ends just as Heather is about to be hit by a flaming rock. Needless to say, the latter two show up alive and well next season and Blaineley is later shown alive two seasons later.
    • All the season's contestants, minus the finalists and their helpers, are last seen floating away inside the balloons where Chris and Owen put them in and are never seen for the rest of the episode. Though Word of God claims that they safely landed on the water when their balloons popped out, it's left unspecified if they were ever retrieved or not.
    • In the All-Stars finale, despite being present inside of the balloons Owen inflated with his farts so the finalists could get as a helper the contestant they freed, Lindsay/Lightning/Jo/Sam/Sierra/Duncan/Courtney/Scott isn't among the four helpers shot down and later floats away with the rest without being seen for the rest of the episode. Word of God claims that all the contestants inside the balloons survived and landed safely on the water after their balloons popped out, but the statement leaves undisclosed if they were retrieved afterwards or not.
  • Fridge Horror: While Word of God states that Lindsay/Lightning/Jo/Sam/Sierra/Duncan/Courtney/Scott all landed safely on the water after their balloons popped out offscreen, it doesn't state if they were ever found and retrieved or not, so while they may have survived falling off from their balloons into the sea, who knows if maybe they were left far away from civilization with no food available and with the danger of being attacked by sea animals like sharks? Considering none of these contestants are ever seen again, their chances at survival may have been shot down.

For Leaning on the Fourth Wall Visual Novel:

  • Amagoushi No Yakata: In a few moments after Madarai (one of the actors) was found dead in the dining room, Hiori, another actor, explains to Nagomu that his role name appears in all Takato's (Hiori's already-deceased grandfather) detective novels, and the rest of the actors and actresses play as guest characters. This also makes sense, meta-wise, because Hiori becomes Nagomu's actual detective partner in Amagoushi no Yakata and its sequels Naraku no Shiro and Koori no Haka. The words that are marked with dots above and the Sequel Hook stinger emphasize them.
Hiori: For some reason, my name is the only one different from the others.
    Nagomu: Different?
Hiori: Others are just guest characters appearing in one work, but I appear in the whole series.

"So instead of other potential income, I'd say other potential benefits sound better."

^ You wrote: "other potentials he could have.", so I had to guess what you were talking about.

"Usually the beginning of the paragraph signify the events of the past."

^ This is not correct. Just because something is mentioned at the beginning of a paragraph does not mean it occurred in the past of the work. That's why I said you need to make it clear.

"But I can understand if you're a bit confused."

^ First, you need to know that this statement is written in a very condescending manner. Please don't write statements like this, as most people you direct them toward will be insulted. Second, I was not "confused". What you wrote was unclear because of your incorrect assumption above.

Would it fit better if the sentences from Now and forward get put in a different paragraph to better signify "Okay, we're no longer in past tense. We're now in present tense."?

^ This would be a good idea.

  • In "A Case of Immunity", the killer confesses to avoid being extradited to his and his victims' country (which apparently has a ruthless capital punishment system). Columbo lets him suggest confessing and then reveals he already has a pre-prepared confession (and two copies) for the perp to sign. He asks the frantic killer if he'd like to read the confession before signing it, and the man quips that he already knows what it says.

@ ElJuaco

Total Drama

  • Alternate Character Interpretation:

    • Many find it really Out of Character for DJ to join Duncan and Geoff in picking on Harold throughout the episode given his stereotypical characterization as a Gentle Giant, but if one recalls (superfluous word - cut) DJ was forced against his will to swim and push all of his team's canoes to win the challenge in "Up the Creek" (remove comma, superfluous words - cut) because Harold stupidly burned all the boards down. Did DJ bully (superfluous word - cut) Harold to get revenge for that incident and opt to move on once Harold admitted his underwear problems? After all, whereas Duncan and Geoff keep annoying Harold two episodes later, DJ leaves him alone.
^ There's no such word as "oards". Did you mean to type "boards" (as I've guessed here) but miss the b off the beginning? Or did you mean to type "oars" but accidentally add a d between the r and the s.

  • Was Harold's insistence that the dirty underwear was not (superfluous word - cut) his despite obvious evidence to the contrary just stubborn, inconsiderate pride? Or maybe he was planning to pick it up, (comma) but because of Duncan being the first one to order him to do so he opted to not do it because he didn't want to give Duncan any satisfaction.

  • When Duncan kisses Courtney and is congratulated by Geoff for winning her heart, Harold looks surprised and then glares at the two, with Courtney being eliminated after they lose the challenge thanks to Harold rigging the votes. While the scene was likely the moment in which Harold got the idea that eliminating Courtney would make Duncan miserable, maybe his surprise and glare were because he also had crush on Courtney or because he felt that it was absolutely unfair that after bugging him all the season Duncan got a girlfriend while he didn't get one?
^ Be careful how you use pronouns if there are two or more characters or groups of characters they could refer to as it can become hard to tell which pronouns refer to which characters.

  • In contrast to Duncan, Geoff and DJ being surprised at Courtney being eliminated and Harold staying, Bridgette just stands there emotionless as Harold goes to get his marshmallow. Does this mean that she also voted Courtney off and/or didn't expect Harold to be eliminated? Or maybe she correctly guessed that Harold had done something but didn't say anything as she felt that Duncan and Courtney deserved it for being so cruel to him?

  • After Duncan threatens him for mocking him about how Lindsay bested him during the skiing challenge, Chris fearfully gives Duncan the last marshmallow and announces Harold's elimination, remarking that he was safe anyway and was just teasing him. Was Harold indeed voted off or maybe Duncan was the one eliminated but his threats were enough for Chris to spare him? If the latter's the case, as Chris was aware of Harold rigging the votes in the previous episode to eliminate Courtney unfairly, maybe Chris saw giving Duncan the last marshmallow despite him being out as a perfect karma for Harold due to his previous cheating?

  • Ass Pull:

    • Despite him being the one who cost his team the challenge by eating all the food, especially the ribs, they had prepared for Chris, Owen isn't even in the bottom two during the elimination ceremony, with Beth ultimately getting the boot due to her Tikki doll apparently cursing the Screaming Gophers. As there's no factual evidence that the curse was real, most fans (especially those who dislike Owen) feel like Owen should have been booted here due to foolishly screwing up the challenge for his team. Thus, it isn't uncommon for some fanfic retellings of the first season to have Owen eliminated here.

    • Lindsay's elimination by accidentally voting for herself instead of Duncan is seen, by most fans, as one of the worst eliminations in the show, especially given how much focus was given to Lindsay during the season similar to Harold to the point she was considered one of the season's protagonists and a deserving winner. (period) But (superfluous word - cut) sparing Duncan (remove comma, superfluous word - cut) seems to validate the fans' suspicions of the writers giving Duncan constant Plot Armor. It doesn't help either that Lindsay was a bit smarter here than last season, so a random moment of stupidity costing her her place in the competition was seen as something contrived to keep Duncan in the game.

  • Broken Base:

    • People are divided on who was in the wrong in this episode. Some say it's Harold for leaving his dirty underwear around the cabin and refusing to pick it up when confronted by lying that it wasn't his despite obvious evidence to the contrary, which make the pranks Duncan, Geoff and DJ subject him to a bit justified in their eyes. However, others point out that the trio took it too far with their pranks, especially the last one, in which they left a naked Harold sleeping on the Dock of Shame only to wake up and find himself exposed in front of the competition's remaining girls. (period) Aside from that what Harold did was something he was understandably embarrassed to own up to and (superfluous word - cut), given how Duncan had already picked on him unprovoked in past episodes, Duncan decided to bully him mainly because he likes to bug him. And then there are those who think the four guys were all in the wrong: Harold should have been (superfluous word - cut) a more considerate teammate, (comma) but Duncan, Geoff and DJ should have handled it better.

    • People are divided on if Harold was justified in voting Courtney off or not. Most fans find it stupid for him to vote Courtney off when it was Duncan (superfluous words - cut) who picked on him. (period) While Courtney did mistreat him occasionally in previous episodes (something that is much overlooked by most of Courtney's fans), she didn't seem to particularly enjoy the bullying Harold was subjected to. However, others argue that given how Duncan didn't really seem interested in the competition from the beginning and due to his popularity on the team, Harold likely deduced that if he voted Duncan off, not only would Duncan not have really cared, but the rest of his teammates would have deduced that Harold had something to do with his elimination. (period) Therefore by voting Courtney off, Harold knew that it would make Duncan miserable due to forcing him to stay in the game without his girlfriend.
^ Be careful how you use pronouns if you have two or more characters of the same gender as it can become hard to tell which pronouns refer to which character.

  • Catharsis Factor:

    • Duncan being arrested by the Canadian police after blowing up Chris' cottage, as unfair as it is due to Chris often doing worse and getting away with it, can be seen as something gratifying due to all the jerkish things he did in the previous season, from his constant unjustified bullying of Harold during the first two seasons to his unfaithfulness to Courtney and the infamous love triangle between him, her and Gwen in the third season. Sure, the episode's exclusive clip hints at Duncan getting sexually assaulted, if not raped, by his cellmate, but after all, Duncan also did something similar to Harold when he left him naked in front of Camp Wawanakwa's female population in season one.

    • Despite how infamous the episode is due to its handling of Courtney, seeing Courtney being humiliated and eliminated can be seen as rewarding for her horrid and jerkish behavior in previous seasons and how she always prioritized winning over friends and relationships, even planning to backstab her best friend and her new boyfriend. This may have been intentional, as the show's writers have stated that they never intended to redeem Courtney.
^ American and Commonwealth spellings are both acceptable on this site, but try to be consistent about which you use.

  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends:

    • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the scene in which Heather accidentally exposes her breasts to Harold was originally uncensored, but that Cartoon Network had Fresh TV censor them with pixelation so they could air it for their target audience. While Fresh has depicted female nudity on other productions by them like 6teen, something unusual back then and nowadays, all those moments have never been uncensored, so any videos of Heather's uncensored breasts that can be found on the Internet are likely fake or made by fans.
^ Use curly brackets to convert a one word title into a WikiWord.

  • It's widely rumored among the fandom that Ezekiel being eliminated first in this episode, which eventually turns him into a feral Gollum expy, was to spite popular Total Drama fanfic writer The Kobold Necromancer due to his Total Drama Comeback fanfic being considered superior to Action by several fans (move text). To drive the point home, Kobold is particularly known among the fandom for giving satisfying Character evelopment to Ezekiel in his stories, which only fueled Ezekiel's popularity among the fans. As some vague references to Kobold have been included in the show, plus Word of God stating that Ezekiel wasn't originally planned to compete in World Tour until the writers realized how popular he was, many fans assume Ezekiel was brought back as a Butt-Monkey just to mock his immense fanbase. Needless to say, this plot point was the reason World Tour ended up being Kobold's least favorite season.

  • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the finale was to be Courtney vs. Zoey or Courtney vs. Lindsay, but that Cartoon Network didn't wish for an all-female finale despite having an all-male finale in Revenge of the Island, which makes several fans believe that the network and Fresh TV are sexist. While there's no word on if Cartoon Network's executives are sexist or not, Fresh TV's executives likely aren't, considering the many female employees they have. (period) In addition (superfluous word - cut) there's no solid proof that Courtney or Lindsay were ever meant to reach the finale, but given how Courtney's storyline of forgiving Gwen being thrown off (superfluous word - cut) two episodes ago, (comma) despite there being no hints that Courtney secretly planned to backstab her, (comma) was so sudden, many fans also believe that Ed McDonald deliberately made Courtney lose to prevent her from reaching the finale.

  • It's widely rumored among the fandom that the finale was to be Jasmine vs. Sky, but Cartoon Network didn't want an all-female finale and had the writers take Shawn to the finale while eliminating Jasmine in the Final Four, which makes several fans believe that the network and Fresh TV are sexist. While there's no word on if Cartoon Network's executives are sexist or not, Fresh TV's executives likely aren't, considering the many female employees they have. (period) In addition (superfluous word - cut) Sky ends up winning the finale in the original ending, which makes her the first official female (move text) winner in the show. However, given how Chris reveals Sky's lies about her not having a boyfriend to Dave to screw her up, some speculate that maybe the crew was forced to implement this plot point with no foreshadowing just to paint Sky in a negative light and make Shawn someone people would root for.

  • It's also widely rumored among the fandom that Sky and Dave were going to end up together and that Keith was a controlling boyfriend, hence Sky's line about her need to say goodbye to him because he was in the room with her. According to these rumors, Sky was originally going to mention Keith early on the season by telling Dave that she doesn't wish to have a boyfriend after she discovered Keith kissing her best friend, but promising Dave she will date him once the competition ends. However, instead of her audition tape, Chris was going to reveal a video filmed at the airport when Sky was saying goodbye to her acquaintances before leaving for Total Drama, with Keith among them, leading Sky to admit that she discovered Keith's unfaithfulness the night before taking her flight, (comma) so she didn't have time to properly break up with him. Had this concept been included, Sky's boyfriend twist wouldn't have felt so forced, and while there's no concrete evidence this was the case, it's said that Sky's sister was going to appear in the scene, and given how she later shows up in Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race, it adds more credibility to the theory.

  • Signature Scene:

    • Ezekiel falling into the volcano with the suitcase of money in reference to Gollum's death in The Lord of the Rings is the best known moment in the episode for two reasons: 1) It makes Ezekiel "technically" win the season's prize and 2) He deprives both Alejandro and Heather of the money, as several fans felt unable to root for them given their villainous actions throughout the season and before it.

  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The Final Three being skipped by Courtney and Owen being eliminated in the Final Four was seen as something boring and anti-climatic by several fans who wished for a conventional challenge, hence yet another reason many say Action didn't live up to Island. It doesn't help that All-Stars would repeat the same concept three seasons later, though in that case, given how the show stopped having 26-episode long seasons after World Tour, it was something necessary.

  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:

    • Harold's friendly interactions with Bridgette during the challenge, especially when he comforts her by assuring her that they would only pretend to hunt and not do so for real, could have developed into a close friendship that could have generated tensions among Bridgette and her other friends in the team, given how she seems to be the only Killer Bass who gets along with Harold, perhaps even standing up for him in the following episodes when Duncan, Geoff and DJ pick on him. However, nothing ever comes from this, though Bridgette still remains friendly with him and is shown to not enjoy the bullying he is subjected to.

    • The possibility of the underwear not actually belonging to Harold like he claimed sounds like an interesting twist that could have started an intriguing plotline about how the boys would react to learn they had targeted the wrong person and how the other campers would react upon learning that the Killer Bass unfairly bullied one of their own teammates. Harold could have also started to plot revenge not only on Duncan, Geoff and DJ, but also on the remaining girls for joining in with their last prank, possibly even becoming a villain himself. Perhaps, instead of joining in on the last prank, (comma) Heather could have recruited him into her alliance. Unfortunately, this possibility is never picked up and everyone seems to have forgotten this event in the following episode.
^ The third level bullet is unnecessary, so I incorporated its content into the second level bullet above it.

  • Harold and Duncan becoming friends and moving on from their rivalry could have been a perfect way for the two to finally bury the hatchet and team up for the rest of the game, perhaps even making it to the finale, (comma, superfluous word - cut) splitting the money if they won, and departing the competition as equals. Unfortunately, under Chris' orders, Owen screws up the possibility by provoking Duncan into making fun of Leshawna.

  • Lindsay successfully voting for Duncan rather than herself is what many fans think should have happened, given how Lindsay shined in the season and underwent a great deal of Character Development by learning to not let others manipulate her and acquiring some leadership skills, to the point where many feel she deserved to make it to the finale.
^ There's no need to avoid using pronouns if it's obvious which character they refer to. Lindsay is the only female mentioned in this entry, so there's no risk of confusing people by referring to her as "she".

  • Harold getting Duncan, Courtney and Beth to vote Owen off by informing them about Owen's true role as Chris McLean's mole instead of keeping the information to himself and thus getting eliminated is what many fans think should have happened, given how Harold shined in the season and underwent a great deal of Character Development by using his skills much more to lead his team to victory and learning to stand up for himself, to the point where many feel Harold deserved to make it to the finale.

  • Ezekiel undergoing Character Development after being the first player to be booted off in the first season could have been an interesting way to flesh him out after he didn't compete in Action. Instead of Cody, Ezekiel could have been the boy assigned to Team Amazon and could have shown if he has abandoned his sexist beliefs since his stay at Playa Des Losers. However, whatever potential Ezekiel had is thrown away when he loses the challenge for his team and gets voted off first again.

^ Which character are you talking about here?

  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Harold is supposed to be in the wrong here, but it's hard to blame him for denying that the dirty underwear was his given that it's something understandably embarrassing to admit, (superfluous word - cut) aside from which while Duncan, Geoff and DJ started pranking him lightly, the following pranks went too far, especially the last one which consisted of him being left nude to wake up in the Dock of Shame the next morning and be exposed in front of the remaining girls, something that can be easily considered traumatic and psychologically scarring.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Duncan, Geoff and DJ are supposed to be in the right here due to Harold not being a considerate teammate by leaving his dirty underwear all over the cabin and refusing to pick it up. However, while it's true that Harold should have been more respectful and their pranks were initially more lighthearted, their following pranks (parentheses) (like burning his genitals with hot sauce, giving him an "underwear sandwich" to consume and leaving him sleeping naked where all the remaining girls could see him (superfluous word - cut) the following morning) (close parentheses) went too far, not to mention that the last one could be considered sexual assault.

This makes sense given how the episode's title (superfluous words - cut), (superfluous word - cut) "Haute Campture" is a play on the term "Haute Couture", which consists of high end fashion based in France.
"Each camper is getting their five minutes of fame - or make that, five minutes of shame, when they compete in the Total Drama Modeling Challenge. Dressed in heels and wigs and forced to strut their stuff, they will be judged on their walking, talking and hawking as they participate in the photo shoot. Owen scores big points with the judges, but loses big time friendships when he gets caught in multiple alliances. If the campers' humiliation weren't tested to the limits, their courage will be when they are told they must do their final catwalk performance on a tiny runway over a pit of crocodiles! In the end, one camper reigns supreme when they fall into the croc pits and face off with the hungry beasts."

  • What Happened to the Mouse?:

    • The fates of Blaineley, Ezekiel and Heather (though in the latter's case, only in her ending) are left explicitly undisclosed by the end of the episode, with Blaineley disappearing after running over Alejandro with her dolly and not being among those swimming away to safety, Zeke is thrown out of the volcano into the Boat of Losers but doesn't emerge after sinking it and, in Heather's ending, the episode ends just as Heather is about to be hit by a flaming rock. Needless to say, the latter two show up alive and well next season and Blaineley is (superfluous word - cut) shown alive two seasons later.

    • All the season's contestants, minus the finalists and their helpers, are last seen floating away inside the balloons which Chris and Owen put them in and are never seen for the rest of the episode. Though Word of God claims that they safely landed on the water when their balloons popped (superfluous word - cut), it's left unspecified if they were ever retrieved or not.

    • In the All-Stars finale, despite being present inside of the balloons Owen inflated with his farts so the finalists could get as a helper the contestant they freed, Lindsay, (comma) Lightning, (comma) Jo, (comma) Sam, (comma) Sierra, (comma) Duncan, (comma) Courtney and Scott are not among the four helpers who are shot down and later float away with the rest without being seen for the rest of the episode. Word of God claims that all the contestants inside the balloons survived and landed safely on the water after their balloons popped (superfluous word - cut), but the statement doesn't disclose if they were retrieved afterwards or not.
