This thread is for tropers who have trouble with English and would like some help with the crazy grammar of this crazy language.

Write down what you wish to edit on the wiki. If you have been suspended from editing, another troper might be kind enough to edit for you after your suggestions have been corrected.

The thread is for help and feedback on your own suggested edits.

If you want help correcting other people's edits (e.g., if you find a page which seems to have grammar problems but want a second opinion, or you don't feel able to fix it by yourself) then that's off-topic here, but we have a separate Grammar Police cleanup thread that can provide assistance.

Eleanor reveals that her jewelry is made of the hearts of her victims, made of at least a dozen individual diamonds.

^ As written, this is saying that the hearts of her victims are made up of individual diamonds. Is that correct? If so, it should be re-written as:

^ "...is made of the hearts of her victims, each of which is made of at least a dozen individual diamonds.

^ If not, did you mean:

"...her jewelry is made of the hearts of her victims and at least a dozen individual diamonds."

...recovered over the course of the story...Meanwhile, <- comma in...The caller is worried about them looking into Princess Juliana. The cloaked figure then drops this line.

^ "The caller is worried about them looking into Princess Juliana." Looking into what about Princess Juliana?

^ "The cloaked figure then drops this line."

^ If you mean the figure just stops talking about it, you can delete this sentence.

@ Bret King Mysteries new page

  • Fair for Its Day: While Bret's Mexican and Navajo friends Benny and Ace (particularly the former) are a bit stereotypical, they are both heroic, developed characters. Throughout the series, Mexican and Navajo culture are portrayed as distinct from white American society, but are portrayed with a decent amount of dignity, seriousness and accuracy.
@ Rick Brant
  • Broken Base: For some people lucky enough to find an affordable copy of the limited edition last book, The Magic Talisman, it is a suspenseful adventure that also lets the main cast mature and develop in realistic and interesting ways. For other fans, it's a waste of money and a weird Out-of-Genre Experience, with writing that shows signs of the long Sequel Gap.
  • Cult Classic:The series has been out of print for years and only a few books have been released on Kindle, but it has a strong fan base that feels the interesting characters, suspenseful action scenes, and realistic science make it better than the Tom Swift series.
  • Values Dissonance: How well foreign cultures and characters are portrayed varies from book to book, but, as the first books were written and are set soon after the end of World War II, the word "Jap" is used in a derisive fashion and the first major Japanese character is an Inscrutable Oriental and sadistic antagonist, albeit also a highly competent one.
@ Limitless

Sipiwe

Played by: Sipiwe Moyo A nurse who provides medical services for Morra's employees.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She goes to work as a nurse for Brian's father and insists that she values the Hippocratic oath and is just there to monitor Brian's discretion and give good service to his father as a motivator for him to be loyal to Morra. Sands says that she's there to harm Brian's father if he gets out of line and this does happen (albeit non-fatally) later on, implying he's telling the truth.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: She initially just appears as a nurse accompanying Morra when he gives Brian his first NZT immunity shot. In the next episode, she shows up as Dennis's nurse to spy on and intimidate Brian.
  • Put on a Bus: After Dennis's poisoning, which she is probably responsible for, Sands has her transferred, presumably due to knowing Brian wouldn't be able to hide his feelings of hostility toward her in front of people.

Danny

Played by: Jeffrey Omura One of Morra's senatorial aides.
  • Number Two: He appears far less than Sands, but seems to be Morra's highest-ranking lieutenant, as he's present while Morra alludes to his master plans and doesn't seem confused or ignorant.
  • Spear Carrier: He appears in three episodes with a certain amount of dialogue but has little characterization, and it wouldn't have affected the plot to split his scenes among three different Bit Characters.

Huston

Played by: Brian Mannain A former MI6 colleague of Sands and the man who recruited him for Morra.
  • And I Must Scream: After a stroke and a car crash, he has locked-in syndrome and can't move or talk, but is aware of his surroundings.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: He's introduced as just a comatose old friend of Sands, who recruited him for Morra and whom Sands doesn't want to be forced to kill for a blackmailer. Then it turns out that his ledger has secrets about the murder of Rebecca's father and he has some communication abilities despite his poor health, enabling Brian and Rebecca to communicate with him by using his heart monitor to ask him yes and no questions.
  • Crazy-Prepared: He's experienced in blackmail and surveillance and has a ledger holding all of the dirty secrets of his criminal friends and enemies in case anyone tries to kill him to shut him up.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: It's implied that he wanted to turn against his and Sands' drug-running old boss even before they were busted and offered immunity deals.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Huston is a codename, for John Huston, and his real name is unknown.
  • Villainous Friendship: He and Sands served together as black ops spies and drug runners for years together. After their unit disbanded, Huston bribed authorities to get Sands out of a Hellhole Prison and got him a job working as a fixer for Morra. Sands is reluctant to kill him even when he's comatose. Huston does ultimately co-operate with the investigation against Sands, but mainly due to his desperation to get help with his And I Must Scream state of health.

Amelia Glasser

Played by: Shirley Roeca A former rising star in the DOJ investigators office who crashed and burned after taking a job for Morra as an investigator.
  • Being Good Sucks: She quit working for Morra after Sands started killing the NZT addicts she tracked down and had to go on the run as a result, while suffering from agonizing NZT withdrawal.
  • Broken Ace: She's a former government investigator who Rebecca remembers as an intelligent peer and who went into the private sector for a seven figure salary. After going on the run from Morra and losing her access to the NZT pills he gave her, she's a physical and mental wreck with a string of arrests for petty crimes and is living in a trailer in the woods.
  • Lazy Alias: Amelia uses the alias Amy Glass.
  • One-Shot Character: She only appears in "Hi, My Name Is Rebecca Harris."
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Brian and Rebecca bribe her for some help, giving her a shot at relocating and getting back on her feet.

Brandy Jo Hawkins

Played by: Simone Bailly A terminally-ill sniper who Morra has bribed to take the blame for Piper's failed attempt to assassinate him so that no one will look into the real motives behind the shooting.
  • Action Girl: She is one of the first female snipers in the military, has four confirmed kills in Iraq, and got a dishonorable discharge for punching a superior officer.
  • The Fall Guy: In exchange for money for her family, Hawkins claims that she's a Right-Wing Militia Fanatic who tried to kill Morra. Interestingly, she isn't acting as a fall guy for the real culprit, but for the intended victim (who doesn't want an investigation into his affairs).
  • Gunman with Three Names: She makes a false confession to an attempted political assassination and is referred to by all three of her names.
  • One-Shot Character: She only appears in "The Assassination of Eddie Morra", but is mentioned in other episodes.
@ Power Rangers Zeo
  • The debut of the fearsome Machine Empire's fortress, and the way their Mook fighter pilots chase Zedd and Rita off the planet.

@ Power Rangers Zeo

  • Rita's conversation asking her father to grant her band refuge from the Machine Empire is reminiscent of a Bratty Teenage Daughter, particularly the way she tells him she "needs a place to crash."
  • Rito and Goldar acting as Bulk and Skull's servants in exchange for a place to stay after being left on Earth when Rita and the others flee may be classic Badass Decay, but it's also hilarious.

Fan Work/Second Best (Shadow and Bone)

'When another sun summoner is found, Alina watches from the sidelines of a life that was supposed to be hers.'

An epic Shadow and Bone Alternate Universe Fic by Stormpill, the story explores what would happen if a more palatable Sun Summoner showed up shortly after Alina Starkov had awakened her powers.

The Fic was eventually taken down by the Author, Stormpill, as a result of online harassment. But copies exist in private and Stormpill has hinted that they would be willing to repost it in the future. The Fan Verse The Second Best Cinematic Universe is still active on Archive of Our Own.

Second Best contains examples of:

  • Hundred Percent Adoration Rating: Svetlana at first.

  • Adapted Out: Several prominent characters either don't appear or are only briefly mentioned including The Crows, Nikolai Lantsov, and Zoya Nazyalensky.

  • Always Someone Better: Svetlana to Alina initially. Alina eventually comes to view Svetlana as an obstacle rather than a rival.

  • Ambiguous Innocence: Svetlana could be either a Skilled, but Naive Sheltered Aristocrat or an uncaring Royal Brat. She gets worse as the story goes but whether it's her true nature or she's lashing out from stress is unclear.

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Alina demands to know why people expect her to suffer in gracious silence. Fedyor, to his credit, takes her words to heart.

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Ivan favored Svetlana, to the point he trashed Alina's reputation. Once Svetlana is crowned, she uses her position to advocate for homophobic policies.
    • Stormpill stated this is their Intended Audience Reaction. Svetlana is essentially an amalgamation of how many Darklina shippers write Alina in their own fanfictionsnote . But instead of glossing over what kind of person that would make her, Stormpill showed it in all its unpleasant glory.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Alina is a fundamentally good person but she's willing to do some nasty things if she chooses to. To reclaim her Amplifiers and initiate her coup, Alina butchers Svetlana alive.

  • Break the Cutie: Alina spends the first few chapters descending from emotionally fragile to a full Broken Bird.

  • Broken Pedestal: Fedyor to Alina. After Alina ran away with help from Ivan's reputation destroying rumors, his image of her goes from a Saint to a Spoiled Brat.
    • Rebuilt Pedestal: Once Ivan tells him the truth, Fedyor comes to understand that Alina isn't the perfect Sun Saint but a flawed person who is nonetheless worthy of his respect and loyalty.

  • Burning the Ships: When Ivan offers his help to dethrone Svetlana, Alina is understandably skeptical. To prove he's serious, Ivan tells his husband Fedyor about how he purposely destroyed Alina's reputation. Feydor is devastated and it nearly destroys their marriage.

  • Conspicuously Public Assassination: Rebels plant a bomb at the opening of the Royal Naval Academy in an attempt to kill Aleksander and/or Svetlana. Both Royals survive but Malyen Ostrev dies in the crossfire.

  • The Coup: Aleksander's canonical plan goes off without a hitch thanks to Svetlana.
    • At the end of the story, enough people are sick of Aleksander and Svetlana's leadership that Alina can stage her own coup and crown herself Queen.

  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Aleksander Morozova remains intensely obsessed and possessive of Alina, even after he marries Svetlana. At one point, Aleksander is so desperate to have Alina's attention, that he confesses to being the Black Hereticnote  just to get her to interact with him. She refuses to take the bait.

  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Svetlana is butchered alive so Alina can claim Morozova's Amplifiers. Alina has the decency to give her drugged tea to ease her pain.
  • Cruel Mercy: Aleksander's punishment for Alina's 'desertion'. Instead of being shot or jailed, Alina gets to be a high-ranking servant for the Queen of Ravka.
    • Alina offers this to Aleksander once she crowns herself. Aleksander is allowed to live, retain a high government position, and has the possibility of Alina's love and forgiveness, so long as he remains her loyal dog.

  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Alina's treatment over the story is an emotional version of this trope. After hearing Svetlana use Aleksander's first name, Alina gives up on making a life in the Little Palace.

  • Deadly Upgrade: Morozova's Amplifiers are this for Svetlana. Bahgra hints and David confirms that Morozova's Amplifiers are rejecting her and will kill her. Alina decides to hasten Svetlana's demise to ensure the Amplifiers don't die with her.

  • Dramatic Irony: Aleksander does everything he can to try to bend Alina to his will. In the final scene, Aleksander willingly submits himself to Alina, for the slim chance that she would one day forgive him.

  • Didn't Think This Through: Aleksander Morozova as per usual. Most prominently, his petty acts of revenge against Alina alienates her and several of his key subordinates.
    • Svetlana bluntly tells Ivan that his relationship with Fedyor is an abomination. Ivan decides to dethrone her.

  • Entitled to Have You: Aleksander still believes that Alina was meant for him. Alina takes full advantage for her own ends.

  • Evil Is Petty: Stormpill stated that Aleksander's actions in the fic were at least partially revenge for Alina rejecting his colors.

  • Exact Words: Alexsander lets Mal believe that finding Morozova's Amplifiers will help Alina. Aleksander gives them to Svetlana, who in turn gives him the power to overthrow the King and drag Alina back to the Royal Palace.

  • Fan Verse: The fic was so popularnote  that it spawned more than 70 Recursive Fan Fiction. The majority are grouped together in an AO3 Collection The Second Best Cinematic Universe.

  • Foil: Svetlana is everything Alina is not: a blonde, blue-eyed Ravkan-looking noble who is entirely comfortable both with her powers and with Aleksander's plans for Ravka. It's telling that after a few years in Svetlana's service, most characters switch their allegiance back to Alina.

  • The Fundamentalist: Svetlana, which is one of the reasons The Apparat champions her.

  • Gaslighting: Aleksander is the main culprit, blatantly screwing with Alina's head to keep her under his thumb. Some of the other Grisha do this as well, although that might have more to do with Ivan's Malicious Slander

  • The Great Wall: Aleksander uses Svetlana's power to turn the Shadow Fold into this, moving the Fold to span the Frjedian and Shu-Han borders. Both countries do not appreciate it.

  • Grew a Spine: Alina's slow journey to rediscover her self-worth and her power is the central conflict of the story.

  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: Alexander Morozova is certainly a much darker shade of grey but both he and Alina can be selfish, kind, cruel, reasonable, and petty.

  • Hazy-Feel Turn: People in this story are less good or bad and more loyal to Aleksander or loyal to Alina.

  • Holier Than Thou: Literally in this case. The majority of peoplenote  believe that Svetlana is the prophesized Sun Saint while Alina is merely a Sun Summoner.

  • Hypocrite: Aleksander Morozova, even more than Canon. He makes Alina's life at the Little Palace miserable and marries another woman but berates Alina for deserting her people and drags her off when she flirts with other men. Alina shuts down this attitude with a well-timed Groin Attack.

  • I Coulda Been a Contender!: Svetlana takes away everything that was promised to Alina, from her place with the Grisha to Aleksander's love. Once Alina rediscovers her self-worth, she not only reclaims everything Svetlana took from her but also rises higher than Svetlana ever could on her own.

  • Inspirational Martyr: Svetlana becomes this to her few remaining followers, titled as Santka Svetlana of the Stolen Light.

  • Immigrant Patriotism: PlayedWith. Svetlana states this is the case but her actions are ambiguous. She's willing to attack her birth country but she's just as quick to try to impose Fjerdian values on her new subjects.

  • Ironic Echo: When Alina confronts Aleksandr about his sudden change of feelings, he claims he was only interested in her friendship. Later in the story, Alina seduces Aleksander and leaves him wanting, repeating his own words as she goes.
    • After being caught, Alina is given a white Kefta to wear. After she seizes the throne, Alina gives Aleksander a white Kefta.

  • Kick the Dog: Aleksander's courtship of Svetlana seems to be a series of these aimed at Alina. He immediately starts ignoring Alina, forces her to room with her new rival, takes away his gifts and gives them to Svetlana instead, and gaslights her into believing he never wanted her.

  • Made a Slave: When Alina is found, she is forced to become Svetlana's handmaiden as punishment.
    • At the end of the story, Aleksander willingly becomes Alina's devoted servant.

  • Minion Manipulated into Villainy:Mal joins the Oprichniki so he can get in contact with Alina and help her. He's furious that his actions ended up hurting her instead.

  • Mirror Character: Alina and Svetlana are both Sun Summoners courted by Aleksander Morozova.

  • Moral Myopia: When Aleksander and the Grisha abandon Alina, they expected her to shut up and sit quietly until they need her. When Alina decides she's no longer wanted at the Little Palace, she's an Ungrateful Bastard who's running away from her people.

  • Mysterious Past: Almost nothing of Svetlana's past is explained, not even her last name. This could be Foreshadowing that Svetlana herself isn't Alina's rival.

  • Nice Guy: Malyen Oretsev is a constant source of comfort when Alina is dragged back to the Little Palace. Alina is devastated when he dies, especially because she chose to attend to Aleksander's wounds first.

  • Not Good with Rejection: Again, Aleksander Morozova is even worse than canon. He responds to Alina's rejections by seesawing between petty cruelty and intense possessiveness. Alina ends up taking advantage of his desire by offering him the chance to win her back, for a price.

  • Obnoxious Entitled Housewife: Svetlana acts like a royal version of this. She spends lavishly even as ordinary Ravkans starve, makes her opinions known whether they're wanted or not, and becomes catty when confronted.

  • Original Character: Svetlana, a Noble-born Fjerdian Sun Summoner.

  • Parents as People: Baghra isn't a bad person, but she is a very bad parent.

  • Parental Issues: Aleksander has a boatload of issues, almost all of which stem from Baghra. note

  • Propaganda Machine: Ivan is Aleksander's Minister of Propaganda. He had plenty of practice. The social ice age Alina experienced before and after leaving the Little Palace was exacerbated by Ivan's Malicious Slander.

  • Race Lift: The story follows the TV show canon, making Alina Starkov visibly mixed race. This adds an extra layer of Angst when a more stereotypical Sun Summoner shows up.

  • Rebel Leader: Zoya Nazyalensky is mentioned to be leading a rebellion against Aleksander. It's not clear if her rebels were the ones who planted the bomb that killed Malyen Ostrev or if she might lay down arms once Alina crowns herself.

  • Ruling Couple: Aleksander may handle most of the work, but Svetlana has Ravka's best interests at heart and knows how to make him listen. No, no she can't. Aleksander ignores Svetlana's opinions unless he can use them for his own ends and make her take the blame.

  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: Alina runs away from the Little Palace at the end of the first chapter. It takes over a year for Aleksander to find her.

  • Stay in the Kitchen: Svetlana fervently believes this, publishing pamphlets and pushing for anti-birth control laws. This makes people furious and lets Alina reestablish herself by publishing a counter-pamphlet lambasting it.

  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Svetlana is a blonde, blue-eyed Noble with much better control over her abilities. Pretty much everyone flocks to her as their Sun Saint.
      • At the same time, this leaves Alina in a social ice age as everyone lavishes attention on Svetlana. As a result, she slides into a deep depression and eventually runs away.
    • Just because you're a minority doesn't mean you can't be prejudiced. Svetlana isn't Anti-Grisha but she's still classist, sexist, homophobic, and very, very condescending.
    • Svetlana's proclamations aside, she was still raised in a fundamentalist theocracy. After being crowned, she immediately starts trying to impose her personal beliefs on her subjects.
      • These actions make her more secular subjects unbelievably angry, and several powerful government officials note  turn to Alina to check Svetlana's power.

  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Downplayed Alina chooses to be selfish when she kills Svetlana and takes the throne for herself, but there's no indication she'll be anything but a Reasonable Authority Figure.

  • There Can Be Only One: Svetlana and Alina have a relationship not unlike The Supreme in American Horror Story Coven. In the beginning, Svetlana was powerful and Alina was weak and withering. When Alina becomes stronger, Svetlana's vitality and strength start to slip away.

  • Unreliable Narrator: The story takes place from Alina's point of view and Stormpill has repeatedly stated that she's not always perfectly honest or self-aware.

  • Unwanted Spouse: Svetlana becomes this to Aleksander. Expect not, as it turns out he only ever wanted Alina.

  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Mal finds all three of Morozova's Amplifiers. This gave Aleksander the power to obliterate Novokribirsk and initiate his coup.

  • Villain Has a Point: Aleksander bluntly tells Alina that Svetlana was the better Sun Summoner. This was an objective truth but doesn't justify his actions.

  • What Does She See in Him?: Inverted. After mending fences, Genya and Fedyor wonder what Aleksander didn't see in Alina.

  • All for Nothing: In "Metal Gear Solid V," it's played for laughs that Skull Face spent 9 years rehearsing his speech for Venom Snake, only for the Tomato in the Mirror scene to reveal... Venom Snake was never the true Big Boss, but a random soldier who shielded him from the bomb planted inside Paz in "Ground Zeroes."
  • Distracted by the Sexy: In "Metal Gear Solid V," the reason why the fighter jet chasing down Venom Snake crashes? The pilot was blinded by Quiet's "massive titties." (In canon, it was from Quiet shooting the pilot in the cockpit.)
  • Emergency Cargo Dump: Weaponized and played for laughs in his "Metal Gear Solid V" episode when he has supplies dropped on Quiet during her boss fight, taking her out immediately.
  • The Generic Guy: Max0r considers Jesse Faden in "Control" to be so boring she could suck the rainbow out of a pride parade.

@ ThunderCats (1985) Ensemble Dark Horse

  • The Lunatak Chilla has quite a bit of fan art due to her ice powers and how she's the most humanoid recurring female antagonist.

@ The Corellian Trilogy

  • Have You Told Anyone Else?: Unusually, the person who fears the lethal effects of this trope is the one to ask the question. Han asks the Selonians who are showing him their secret tunnels if anyone else knows about them because of the answer if yes then they'll have less reason to kill him to keep their secret. He’s worried when they say he’s the first non-Selonian to learn this secret, but ultimately they let him leave alive.
@ Army of the Dead
  • Affably Evil: Rolph sides with Brad after his betrayal of Sebastien, but also admits he was starting to like Sebastien. When Brad rants about the others' betrayal, Rolph points out that they betrayed them first. He's also concerned with the idea that Brad wants to kill Sebastien and Gwendoline, and unsuccessfully tries to switch sides after he and Brad are defeated.
  • Butt-Monkey: His subordinates don't even read his briefings, he got Shot in the Ass during a past operation, his first sting operation fails because the vault he wants too guard is at a different bank due to a recent unannounced switch, and he gets an I Told You So comment from Beatrix after the second sting fails due to his reluctance to confide in the safe's owner.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Rolph isn't too smart, but once he and Brad end up working alone, he's more focused and professional than his vindictive partner. He's also the one to suggest following Gwendoline through her GPS tracker.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Delacroix is prone to yelling at people after setbacks.
  • It's All About Me: He boldly predicts about how he'll be the one to catch Gwendoline's crew, as his team is visibly annoyed at being left out of that self-congratulatory speech.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Delacroix is an irritable man who doesn't shy away from Police Brutality, but he's right to point out that people are still committing crimes during the zombie outbreak and are relying on European authorities caring more about zombies on another continent than doing their jobs. He also has a right to be annoyed at his team for not reading his briefing notes.
  • Large Ham: He has a tense and dramatic persona and a loud voice.
  • Nerves of Steel: Delacroix is brave and determined during his Mexican Standoff with Gwendoline and points out that if she shoots him, it will just summon other cops and ruin their escape.
  • Pet the Dog: Delacroix mostly averts the "sympathetic" part of the Sympathetic Inspector Antagonist character archetype, but he shows some sympathy for Sebastien upon realizing he's an Ascended Fanboy of the safe maker Wagner and not a professional criminal. In the climax, he lets Sebastien escape. While this is partially due to his Mexican Standoff with Gwendoline, he doesn't try to cordon off the area to trap Sebastien once Gwendoline surrenders, and pretends he never saw him.
  • Properly Paranoid: Delacroix immediately guesses that the thieves are trying to steal the other safes Wagner built after the first robbery.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: He refuses to take millions of dollars in stolen money to let Gwendoline go, although the fact that It's Personal contributes to this.
@ Army of Thieves
  • Even Better Prequel: A lot of people consider this movie to be better than Army of the Dead due to using its quirky characters for a Lighter and Softer setting rather than a Dwindling Party, and for having a slightly more original plot.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Some fans of this movie (especially Sebastien and Gwendoline shippers) prefer to ignore its tie-ins to Army of the Dead and look at it as a standalone story.
  • Moe: Sebastien's jumpy but earnest Naïve Newcomer and Ascended Fanboy personality and excited physical movements make him even more adorable than he is in the first movie.
  • One-Scene Wonder:
    • Dieter's main two opponents in the safecracking contest Gwendoline uses to audition him: Neo (the reigning champion) and Fireball (the red-haired woman with leopard print gloves) make a powerful impression in their one scene for their skills and Neo's Sore Loser moment.
    • Pavel, the Surveillance Station Slacker at the second bank who picks up on signs of the heist despite his initial sloppiness, sounds the alarm and then wounds "action hero" Brad after a fight.

Roz He was eighty-five, how bad could it have been?
Bebe Ever worn a saddle?
@ Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
  • Pursued Protagonist: “Turn Back the Clock” begins with Jason Kemp fleeing from dinosaurs at the Earth’s core and fashioning an air bag from some shed dinosaur skin to escape underwater. However, it turns out that he isn’t exactly a protagonist and his cowardice got two colleagues killed.

For Gotta Ship 'Em All:

  • Yellowjackets: The plane crash survivors are shipped in almost every which way, particularly the titular team, due to the younger cast having chemistry with everyone. The most common combinations are Jackie/Shauna, Taissa/Van, Lottie/Laura Lee, Misty/Natalie and Akilah/Mari, but there are also fans for Natalie/Lottie, Taissa/Shauna, Natalie/Jackie, and Natalie/Travis. Outside of the plane survivors there are fans that ship the characters with their present day love interests like Jeff/Shauna and Taissa/Simone, but for the most part the shipping is mainly focused on the younger cast.

Any corrections?

@Minorica With all the posts that we put on here regularly, we basically give Arivne bread.

Besides, pretty sure for all our grammar screwups, they have a life.

Rewrite for the Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup:

  • Pitch Perfect: Beca/Chloe, aka Bechloe, is easily the most popular ship in the fandom and easily more popular than Beca's canon ship with Jesse. In fact, fans had already started shipping them from the first trailer and this increased tenfold when the film came out and had loads of Les Yay between them, such as the infamous scene where Chloe walks into Beca's shower to force her to sing. Even win the third film gave Chloe a love interest in the form of Chicago, more fans still shipped her with Beca.

And a new entry for Preemptive Shipping:

  • Pitch Perfect: Even as far back as the first trailer, when the characters names weren't known yet, fans had already started to massively ship Beca ad Chloe together. This continued even when the film aired and Beca was revealed to have a love interest in the form of Jesse, mainly thanks to the massive Les Yay between them.

Any corrections?

@ Power Rangers Zeo

  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Unlike many Mooks in the franchise, large groups of Cogs are willing to retreat once they realize they're outmatched rather than fight to the death.
  • Men of Sherwood: The Cogs are a rare villainous example of villainous interchangeable soldiers who avoid being a Red Shirt Army at least some of the time. They chase all of the established villains out of the galaxy without help from their superiors (although The Dreaded reputation of their group as whole helps), do better against the Rangers in combat than any other Mooks in the franchise (although that might be a case of being Damned by Faint Praise), and sometimes successfully accomplish missions (like stealing a computer disc) without the supervision of a Monster of the Week. They also tend to retreat at the end of battles they lose instead of being killed, unlike most Mooks.
@ Impeded Messenger
  • Subverted in the J.A. Johnstone western The Last Gunfighter: Renegades: A cowboy who is sent to alert the state capitol to send in more Texas Rangers because the local ones are corrupt is seen being held prisoner and murdered along with several other locals who tried to fight back. However, it turns out that he did deliver the message and was captured on his way home (although The Cavalry Arrives Late).
@ Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
  • Chummy Commies: While the show is more likely to feature Dirty Commies when communist countries appear, there are exceptions. "Hot Line" features two Soviet scientists, Malinoff and Gronski, who are sent to help deactivate the nuclear reactor aboard a crashed Soviet rocket before it irradiates the nearby San Francisco. Both men act polite and helpful toward the crew, and while Gronski is an imposter and saboteur, the real Gronski behaves pleasantly before he's killed or drugged and then replaced. Malinoff undergoes a crash course in diving so that he can deactivate the device underwater without complaint and cordially drinks a toast with the Seaview's officers at the end of the episode.
@ Army of Thieves
  • Bare Your Midriff: While she isn't undercover for a heist, almost every shirt Korina wears exposes her stomach.
