This thread is for tropers who have trouble with English and would like some help with the crazy grammar of this crazy language.

Write down what you wish to edit on the wiki. If you have been suspended from editing, another troper might be kind enough to edit for you after your suggestions have been corrected.

The thread is for help and feedback on your own suggested edits.

If you want help correcting other people's edits (e.g., if you find a page which seems to have grammar problems but want a second opinion, or you don't feel able to fix it by yourself) then that's off-topic here, but we have a separate Grammar Police cleanup thread that can provide assistance.

Man, the mods are very strict when it comes to grammar and spelling.

And I'm not very good in making many examples without any mistakes.

I wish the mods are more forgiving with one, two, or even three minor mistakes in an edit. I'm sure minor mistakes aren't that big of a deal. Especially when the user tries their best not to make any mistakes.

I used Reverso to check my spelling.

@ Star Wars: Republic

  • Adult Fear: Near the end of the Clone Wars, Tholme discusses how he always found it comforting to know that his former padawans Quinlan and Aayla would probably outlive him, but the war has destroyed that certainty.
@ Return of the Jedi
  • Mood Whiplash: A somewhat lighthearted moment in Jabba's palace with lots of music and dancing takes a much darker turn when poor Oola ends up in the rancor pit.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Two scout troopers are knocked unconscious rather than killed (the one Han fights right before the speeder chase and the one who briefly takes Leia prisoner), then are never seen or mentioned again as the Rebels continue on.
@ John Putnam Thatcher
  • For Want Of A Nail: In Going for the Gold, a plan to distribute forged Eurocheques during the Winter Olympics is derailed when one of the criminals accidentally uses one of the forged checks to make a purchase instead of one of his actual checks. This attracts the attention of the authorities much earlier than anticipated.

For Recurring Extra Video Games:

  • Kuukiyomi: There are some extras who also appear in some installments.
    • The pretty idol named B.B. appears in the background commercial posters, in her gravures, in her signage stand situation in the first and second games. She appears in the train machinist situation in the "Considerate Mode" and the concert situation in the "Considerate Together Mode" from the third game.
    • The 3 punk rock members: The bassist, the vocalist and the guitarist. The bassist appears in the 49th, 64th and 94th situations from the first game; 10th and 81st situations from the second game; and 76th and 89th situation from the third game. He also appears with B.B. in one of Co-Op situations when the train departs. The vocalist appears in the 58th and 63rd situations from the first game. And the guitarist only appears in the 64th and 94th situations in the "Considerate Mode" and B.B.'s concert situation of the Co-Op mode.
    • C-Ko's parents first appear in the 2nd game, especially the 72nd and the 89th situations. C-Ko's father also appears in the 100th situation of the third game.
    • The Big Bro and Setsuko from Grave of the Fireflies appear in some morality-based situations.

Proposed Trope grammar repair:
Some people are considered attractive and/or very adorable or whatsoever because they disguise as someone else, but what happens if their identities get revealed by accident/by misfortune?
Variants of accidental reveal:

1. The reveal is done without any digital devices involved, just sheer amount of misfortune, coincidence, uncontrollable emotions or nature's mischief.

2. The technical problems from people who are using avatars on the internet, but gets revealed due to a technical glitch.

3. someone unintentionally sees or takes a camera shot of something on the internet or someone in real life that reveals their true identity.

4. Someone who (doesn't) work(s) for stage and technical stuffs accidentally sets the wrong camera, turns on/off the wrong button and whatsoever due to sheer amount of stupidity, clumsiness, etc.

5. The reveal is done when someone stumbles upon the documents, which have the actual identity of someone and nobody expects that.

However, no matter how it occurs, this is often Played for Laughs or Played for Drama. This trope can be overlapped with So Much for Stealth and Conveniently Timed Guard if the someone fails to do a stealth mission. This can only be applied when The Reveal is unintentional and it can happen in real life. If someone intentionally or fantastically reveals their identity like unmasking someone, the magical camouflage potion wears off or intentionally finding someone's documents to prove something, this trope won't apply.

Remember that Tropes Are Tools. If it's done well, it will create a massive punchline and twist. Done poorly it will just create an offensive implication or downright disappointing.

A Sub-Trope of The Reveal and Secret Identity. A Sister Trope to Accidental Public Confession and Accidental Truth for the verbal equivalent. Not to be confused with Glamour Failure, when that trope describes the disguise fails due to some aspects and the second or third person knows it, not revealed by accident. This may be related to The Man Behind the Curtain, if the one who disguises is a villain or a Big Bad.\\

For Magnificent Bastard.

  • Nicolai Technus, ghost master of science and electrical technology is a hilarious Large Ham whose far more dangerous then he appears. Technus over the series keeps Danny on his toes, constantly upgrading and adapting himself to face off and fight Danny on an even playing field. Technus infiltrates the game Doomed and uses his powers and skils to try and win it in order to conquer the world wide web, coming dangerously close to winning. Eventually purging himself of his goofier quirks which were effecting his plans, Technus upgrades into the more sleek and sauve Technus 2.0. Technus 2.0 manipulates Danny and Valerie Gray into getting together in order to distract him so he can hack into and take control of her father's computer satellite allowing him control over all the world's technology. He later exploits Danny's Secret Identity to force him to not transform in public so he can kill him with valerie's suit and later in a move of quick thinking transforms Valerie into a new ghost hunter form to stall Danny as Technus 2.0 begins his digital ascension into a world wide threat.

  • Desiree is a sultry ghost genie who in life was a harem girl whose heart broken was by the Sultan leading to her becoming twisted over time due to bitterness. Desiree grants the wishes of others and twists them to create chaos leading to best friends Danny and Tucker getting into blows. In her return, Desiree discovers that Sam was the person who convinced Danny to go into the Ghost Portal and hence get his powers and formulates a plan to get rid of him. She manipulates monsters into being sent against Danny's crush and then has them subtly hint that Sam is behind them causing them to come to blows and having Sam wish that they never meet which takes away Danny's powers. Desiree seeks to get him out of the way so she can use the wishes of the Shooting Star festival to give her ultimate power.
  • Walker is the snarky warden of Ghost Zone's prison and a southern ghost who seeks to bring "order" to the Ghost Zone. After Danny escapes from him, Walker has his army invade the human world to flush him out. Walker sends the ghostly prisoner Wulf to sniff out all of the people Danny is close to in order to possess them and use them to manipulate public favour away from Danny by making him hated and feared by all. Framing him for the attacks, Walker when being defeated uses the body of the Mayor to proclaim that Danny is attacking him to permanently ruin his reputation stating "the town he lives in will now be his prison". Later kidnapping Danny's classmates, Walker plans to capture him when he arrives back in a backstab. A brilliance plotter with a love for sadistic jokes, Walker would end up being one of Danny's toughest opponents.

  • Ghost Writer is a wisecracking ghost who decides to teach Danny a lesson about how ruining Christmas for others is wrong after Danny destroys his prized poem and mocks him for it. The Ghost Writer traps Danny in a world where everything rhymes in order to do so. Using his powers to summon and control monsters such as ghost reindeer or living Christmas tree monsters, The Ghost Writer cleverly sets about framing Danny for the destruction to the town and holiday they cause to make him into an outcast in order to to show him how ruining the holiday for others feels. When Danny returns to the Ghost Zone to defeat him, he summons all of Danny's Rogues Gallery to aid him and when they side with Danny against him due to a christmas truce has them mind controlled into fighting each other. Even though he's defeated, the Ghost Writer was still able to teach Danny his lesson and ends the episode being proud of him.

[up] It's okay.

Speaking of, the post I made recently only had two minor errors that you corrected. I doubt those two errors were big enough to warrant a red flag.

Anyways, is it possible for me to have my suspension lifted on the condition that I will check my edits first? I promise to have a thorough examination of my edits in the future, and I am willing to take full responsibility of my actions and edits.

If I fail to uphold my condition, then I am more than happy to be banned from editing in TV Tropes again.

P.S. Thanks for correcting the mistakes.

Kenny: All I can say is, other people have been unsuspended on the condition that they check their edits here first before they post them. Problem is, the majority of people who get unsuspended that way don't actually check their edits here every time. Or they do, but then they make small changes later that don't have proper grammar.

In short, they keep thinking "a small edit like this doesn't count, and besides, I know what I'm doing," when they clearly don't know what they're doing. Avoid that at all costs.

Hi guys. It's me again. Let's have another try.

Some potential Headscratchers for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides:

  • If Blackbeard really wanted to be immortal, then why didn't he go after Davy Jones and kill him? Being captain of the Flying Dutchman guarantees immortality as long your heart is protected. The possibility of the Flying Dutchman's crew defeating the Queen Anne's Revenge's crew is slim considering that Blackbeard has the Sword of Triton and can use magic against his enemies.
  • How did The Spaniard and his men to avoid the mermaids in Whitecap Bay? When they arrive to the Fountain of Youth's cave, they have suffered no losses, whereas Blackbeard lost some of his crewmen while trying to capture the mermaids and Barbossa's ship was sunken down by the mermaids with little effort.
  • Upon discovering the Fountain of Youth, Blackbeard yells at Jack and tells him to not touch the water because only he can drink from it. But what if Jack touched the water? The water only affects you as long you have the Chalices of Cartagena and a mermaid's tear. Do Blackbeard believed that if Jack touched the water the Fountain was gonna explode or what?
  • What happens with Barbossa's crew at the end? The British soldiers Barbossa brought to the cave mysteriously vanish after dragging away the corpses of Groves and Gillette. Did they join the Queen Anne's Revenge's crew afterwards or not? They don't appear to have joined it at the end of the film and the Spanish left immediately after destroying the Fountain, so they couldn't have slaughtered them.

And two Headscratchers for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales:

  • What happened with Bootstrap Turner? He promised Will to stay with him aboard the Flying Dutchman at the end of the third film but he is nowhere to be seen here. What's more, Will doesn't even mention his father while talking to Henry, not even saying something like "You're trying to free me just like I tried to do with your grandfather"? Did Bootstrap get bored of sailing with Will or what?
  • If the Trident of Poseidon could break all curses of the Seven Seas, why didn't Barbossa and his cursed crew search for it once they got the curse of the Treasure of Cortés prior to the first film? They only became aware that they needed to keep Bootstrap with them to break the curse so they went after Will, but why didn't they consider to go for the Trident if tracking down Will was hard?

P.D. Michael Katsuro, yeah you're right. After your note, I concluded that Maximus's son Headscratcher for Gladiator isn't really a plot hole. The child surely missed his father a lot and didn't think that the horses were going to kill him.

Michael: Man, this is what I fear the most in editing now. And I'm still afraid of making new forum posts until today because I worry that I might make another spelling mistake.

I have been trying my best currently. I want to make sure that I don't make any mistakes while editing.

If a spell checker doesn't guarantee an edit without any mistakes in TV Tropes, then I'm not sure if I can ever improve enough to meet the standards of editing in this website.

I am taking my mistakes seriously, but the standards of editing in TV Tropes are too strict for me.

All I know, I want to prove to myself that I can make a new page in TV Tropes without making more than ten, if not five, mistakes. In fact, I am more than happy to proofread the page that I am making.

I used Reverso to check my spelling.
