- Doting Grandparent: Like in canon, Sullivan deeply loves and spoils Iruma a lot, even to the point of taking his grandson to an all-you-can restaurant when Iruma wasn't eating normally just so the latter would feel better.
Like in canon, Sullivan deeply loves and spoils Iruma a lot, even to the point of taking him to an all-you-can restaurant when Iruma isn't eating normally just so he will feel better.
Writing "his grandson" means it might be Iruma's grandson. Yeah, from context that's obviously not the case, but this kind of elegant variation with "his grandson" and "the latter" isn't great here.
Nightmare Face: Mrs. Mavilda makes one of these when she says she's cutting the tree down for firewood.
"The Kindly Lion" YMMV
- Awesome Music: The songs written by Takashi Yanase and performed by Japanese music group "100s" has some very decent and groovy songs. These include a song performed during sequences where an adult Buru-buru is running, to "Muku-muku's Lullaby" which is very touching and beautiful lullaby. Then there's the upbeat and catching musical number played when Buru-buru and his mother are dancing with each other (which is also used for the credits).
- Heartwarming Moments: While the short and movie does enter tearjerker territory. "The Kindly Lion" does contain a fair share of sweet and heartwarming moments between Buru-buru and his mother Muku-muku. These include
- The film begins with an orphaned Buru-buru crying, blind, and malnourished. Happily, a female rabbit spots the lonely lion cub and immediately takes him to Muku-muku who is mourning the loss of her puppies. The rabbit cheers the saddened dog by convincing her to become Buru-buru's new mother and parent. Muku-muku quickly agrees on becoming his new mother and the first action she does is giving him a hug.
- As Buru-buru is trying to drink milk from his mother's teats. He loses grip and fall flat on his back reducing him to tears. She walks back and decides to carry him on her back to calm him down. The scene later cuts to Muku-muku rocking him back and forth on her back as she's singing a lullaby to him. During her lullaby, we see Buru-buru drinking from his mother before both characters fall asleep peacefully.
- The song about how much Buru-buru loves his mother's milk. The setting takes place on a hill which is formed by a white water drop representing milk. Muku-muku is shown happily feeding the lion cub alongside hugging him. As Buku-buku is drinking his mother's milk, his tail begins wagging as a sign of relaxation and happiness.
- Buru-buru now an adolescent lion cub learning how to become a dog. Instead of roaring, he barks, whimpers, and is seen eating biscuits. When he's learning how to eat from a dog bowl, his mother simply smiles and giggles to herself as he starts enjoying the dog biscuits. Special mention goes to the scene where Muku-muku is teaching him how to pee like a dog by lifting his hind legs near a tree, how to pant, and rolling over.
- Later in the story, a grown Buru-buru and an elderly Muku-muku are admiring a small lake at the zoo. Buru-buru quickly gets frightened by his appearance hoping he would look like an actual dog. However his mother tells him "You and I appear different indeed, but in our hearts, we are the same." since she strongly believes "The heart is the most important thing" between a mother and son. The scene then transitions to both character happily dancing with each other with a song expressing how much they love each other.
- In a bittersweet way, while Buru-buru manages to reunite with his mother who is very weak and on the verge of death. The final time Buru-buru and Muku-muku are shown interacting is with both characters giving a long hug after years of separation. After both characters are gunned down by a group of policeman, the lifeless bodies of Buru-buru and Muku-muku are lying down. However, Buru-buru is still embracing his mother.
- Tear Jerker:
- The story begins with Buru-buru crying after the death of his parents. He's extremely skinny, blind, and cold. A female rabbit notices his sad state and quickly takes him to Muku-muku.
- Muku-muku is first seen completely heartbroken over the death of her puppies after birth. She's seen crying until a rabbit tells her that she should adopt a lion cub since his parents are deceased. In general, both character suffered loss (Buru-buru's parents no longer alive, and Muku-muku's loss of her children).
- Buru-buru frighting by his own reflection in a lake as a grown lion. For most of his life, he expected to look like his mother. He calls himself "hideous and horrifying" as his body turns blue and starts crying. His adopted mother notices his reaction and gives him comforting words.
- Despite Buru-buru and his adopted mother genuinely loving one another. Humans don't understand this and decides to move Buru-buru to a different zoo. When the narrator tells this to a child, the sun reactions by frowning sadly.
- As Buru-buru is locked inside a car that's taking him to a different zoo. Muku-muku is running as fast as possible. Due to her age, she gets tired and can only watch on as a single tear goes down her cheek. This would be the last time she would see her son for a long time.
- As Buru-buru is staying at a circus, he starts forgetting the life he's spent with his mother. While he's able to do many tricks and acts, he's still forgetting the previous life he spent with his mother. One night as he and the other circus animals are sleeping. He hears his mother's lullaby which is the first time he remembered anything about his mother in ages. He gets motivated on seeing his mother again by constantly hitting his head on to a large cage as hard as he can. He hits the cage so hard that his head begins bleeding until he's able to escape.
- The ending when Buru-buru finally reunites with Muku-muku. She's extremely weak and close to dying. Happily, he decided to hug is mother who returns the favor in pure happiness in love. Sadly, the policeman decide to open fire on Buru-buru and Muku-muku who are unaware that the policeman were chasing the lion.
- The child narrator's reaction to the policeman chasing Buru-Buru and later shooting Buru-buru alongside his mother. The child is yelling at the policeman to not shoot them. After Buru-buru and his mother are killed, the child is hearing crying hysterically and is saying that Buru-buru didn't hurt anybody and just wanted to see his mother again.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Similar to Chirin no Suzu the original book and animated film was aimed at children and family audiences. While both characters end up killed by the very end, the story alongside Chirin no Suzu is very beloved by families and older generations in Japan.
Some additions for Age of Wonders.
Orc
- Javelin Thrower: Their irregular unit, Spearman, in Age of Wonders 3 can use the Throw Javelin to give them a cheap ranged attack. Some of their class units, like Martyrs and Hunters, have Throw Javelin as their ranged attack instead of their original attacks (Throw Rock and Shoot Bow, respectively).
- Status Buff: Many Orc units have the ability, War Cry, which increases their melee attack for one turn.
Goblin
- All Trolls Are Different: In all three games, the Goblins could train Trolls, though in 3, they can only train "Tame Trolls" through a Racial Governance, which is identical to regular trolls but are trainable when a city has the Beetle Command building. The trolls are known for their monstrous strength and capability of regeneration.
- Blow Gun:
- The Darters are their main archer units that shoots poison darts to deal both physical and poison damage.
- Their successor, the Swarm Darter, in Age of Wonders 3 is their main archer units. They are Glass Cannons due to their terrible HP but their Mosquito Dart attack deal both physical and blight damage and are not affected by long-range and obstacles penalties.
- Geo Effects:
- Goblins enjoy Wetlands as both morale boost and terrain to traverse through. In addition, their racial trait include Wetland Foraging, which allow them to regenerate more HP when standing on Wetlands.
- While they don't benefit from being underground, it is their secondary preference due to Cave Crawling and Night Vision giving them benefits in Subterranean terrain.

In the The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy episode Sickly Sweet, Grim and Billy, sick of Mandy's attitude toward them, put a "Mask of the Beast" on her, which will turn her into a hideous monster if she keeps acting mean. After they push her past her limit, Mandy accepts being turned into a beast and kicks the shit out of them.
@Michael Katsuro: Thanks again
Missing typeos such as that is annoying, but at least they weren't more serious grammar mistakes.
Gretel and Hansel
- Bloodier and Gorier: This game might be one of the goriest adaptation of the Hansel and Gretel tale.
- Brats with Slingshots: Gretel owns a slingshot. In the first game, it's her main way to interact with objects.
- Broken Bridge: The second game has several paths that are blocked until Gretel find whatever she needs to cross it.
- A path is blocked by a tree's roots. Gretel need to find an axe to cut them.
- A small bridge is blocked by a sitting bear. Gretel need to find bear trap to get rid of it.
- A swamp is inhabited by a snake that will kill Gretel should she try to go in it. She need Hansel's help to cross it.
- Gretel and Hansel are blacked by a cliff near the end. She need to find some statue pieces to add on incomplete statues to make a bridge magically appear.
- Cain and Abel: Gretel can kill her brother. In the first game, the game even awards the player with a "Kain" achievement.
- Dumb Muscle: Hansel is a total idiot, but he's stronger than his sister which can make him useful in some parts.

Here's an idea for Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade - The Black Fang.

Thanks Michael.
- In the Star Wars Legends comic Darklighter, one of Biggs' academy roommates recounts the story of a man whose neighbor said he never wanted to see his face again. In response, the guy used explosives to etch a drawing of his face onto their home planet's moon, ensuring that his rival would always see it.
- Dirk Pitt Adventures
- In Atlantis Found, the Nazi Arctic submarine base and storage facility was constructed by a slave labor force of Russian POW's. Most of them died of cold and exhaustion during the construction, and the survivors were executed afterward.
- Prior to the events of The Treasure of Khan, the Mad Scientists who built the villains' earthquake machine died shortly afterward. It's ambiguous whether their employers murdered them or if they died accidentally while testing their invention.
- Zigzagged in Lost City from the sequel series. The scientists hired by the Racine Fauchard to recreate the Elixir of Life are initially paid off and sent home unharmed. However, Racine accidentally leaves evidence of her crimes on one scientist's computer, causing the research team to threaten to go to the authorities. Racine murders nearly all of them within a week. Then she discovers there are flaws in the potion that she can't fix on her own, and spares at least one scientist so that he can fix the formula. Instead, he sabotages the potion to kill her.
- Star Wars Legends:
- Sourcebooks for The Thrawn Trilogy reveal that after the construction of The Maze containing his hidden treasure vault, Palpatine killed both the architect and the construction foreman to make sure that no one but he could find their way through.
Palpatine: And if I ever need your services again, I will not hesitate to clone you.- Palpatine and his minions do this on a planetary scale in Death Star. Grand Moff Tarkin uses convict laborers from the prison planet Despayre for the final stage of the Death Star's construction. Then he blows up the entire planet to test the space station's super laser. The only survivors are a few engineers deemed valuable enough to spare for additional work and a man who stows away on a supply vessel returning to the Death Star.
- Bevel Lemelsik, the primary designer of the Death Star, is initially rewarded instead of being murdered, but after the Death Star is destroyed due to an overlooked weak spot, he's tortured to death by a furious Palpatine (as revealed in The Callista Trilogy). Then Lemelisk is resurrected with dark magic so he can build a second, improved Death Star.
- Lemelisk's former teacher Nasdra Magrody plays a minor, Obliviously Evil role in creating the Death Star, but suffers this fate in relation to a completely different project in the Backstory of The Callista Trilogy. Magrody's family is held hostage while he's forced to build a brain implant that will control machines with the Force. After the project's completion, he disappears and is probably murdered.
- Tales of the Bounty Hunters: This is done by the builders' creation rather than their employer. The assassin droid IG-88 spends years trying to kill all of the scientists who helped build him and know about his weak spot so that they'll never tell anyone.
- Prior to Labyrinth of Evil: Palpatine killed everyone involved in the design and delivery of Darth Maul's ship except two scientists he planned to use later and a pilot who went into hiding. During the book's events, Palpatine unsuccessfully attempts to kill the pilot and the less important scientist to cover his tracks.
Fa'ale Lah: You know, they killed the engineers, the mechanics, just about everyone who worked on that craft. But I knew. I made the delivery, grabbed what was due me, and I was away. Not far enough, though. They tracked me to Ryloth, Nar Shaada, half the starforsaken worlds in the Tingel Arm. I had my share of close calls.
- The Woobie: Alice is kidnapped from her parents and raised in an atmosphere of complete fear where the slightest step out of line could get her mutilated and locked in the basement for the rest of her life. She's beaten, forcibly bathed in steaming hot water, and possibly sexually abused.
- Xaverri only appears in two novels, but she's one of Han's better-liked pre-Leia love interests due to being a brilliant stage magician and anti-Imperial con artist with a Dark and Troubled Past.

Here are a few more examples I would appreciate having looked at.
1. A revision to a House Goliath example from Characters.Necromunda:
- Chainsaw Good: Some background material, usually from early editions, mentions that the warriors of House Goliath are very fond of chain weapons, due to the messy carnage they can create, and their intimidating look. While this isn't represented in the rules, a number of models from various editions have shown their appreciation for chain weaponry by replacing the House’s signature mohawk hairstyle with a chain blade.
2. A rewrite of an example in Valkia's section of Characters.Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Grand Alliance Chaos:
- Chainsaw Good: Some background material, usually from early editions, mentions that the warriors of House Goliath are very fond of chain weapons, due to the messy carnage they can create, and their intimidating look. While this isn't represented in the rules, a number of models from various editions have shown their appreciation for chain weaponry by replacing the House's signature mohawk hairstyle with a chain blade.
3. A rewrite of one of Illuminor Szeras' examples on Characters.Warhammer 40000 Necrons:
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: During 7th Edition, Szeras had the Gaze of Flame ability that causes his single eye to emit a strange green glow, which was so unnerving that it damaged enemy morale. Later editions removed this ability from Szeras' datasheet.
