Hi guys. It's me once again. Let's have another try.

For a potential Headscratchers page of Como dice el dicho. Here's one for the episode "Ya la esperanza perdida, ¿qué queda de perder en esta vida?":

  • Why does Esteban assures his wife Irena that their daughter Rocío wasn't going to die if Rocío, well, slit her wrists? The doctors managed to save her, but if they haven't done so, Rocío would have died. Doesn't her father know that slitting one's wrists mean a slow death?

And one for "Por la muestra se conoce el paño":

  • Why doesn't Camila and Alexa's grandmother like Verónica as her son's wife at first? She looks like a good woman, is faithful to her marriage and doesn't seem to have any bad qualities.
  • The next day after her grandmother tells her that she has already accepted Alexa's invitation, why does Camila tell her firend that her grandmother is coming to accompany her and Alexa when her grandmother told her that she would go only with Alexa last night?

Pokémon: Roses of the Garden

Arceus

The Alpha Pokémon and creator of the Pokémon World.

  • God: He's known as the Alpha Pokémon and created the Pokémon World.
  • Gold and White Are Divine: He's mostly white with gold hooves, cross-wheel on his back, and a coloration on his head.
  • Top God: As the Alpha Pokémon, Arceus is the strongest Pokémon there is and appears to be the leader of the other Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.

@ Contested Sequel

Other times, Canon Discontinuity doesn't happen because the work is poorly received, but whoever owns the rights to the franchise thinks they have a better idea about what to do next, causing a divergence from the established story.

@ Burke's Law

  • Stay in the Kitchen: In "Who Killed the Toymaker," the victim's affection for his wife (the model for a toy line) plummeted when she got an MBA and went to work at his company.
@ M
  • One-Scene Wonder: Leeser only appears in one scene, but it's a pretty memorable one, given how he follows the killer through the streets and marks his shirt with chalk so that others will recognize him.
@ Deep Blue Sea Ensemble Dark Horse
  • Despite being The Chick and having less screen time than almost everyone else, Janice is fairly well-liked. Her sunny and skillful delivery of the film's exposition and her role as the only one of the three scientists who respects the laws against genetic engineering both make her endearing.
@ Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives Ensemble Dark Horse
  • Lizbeth is pretty popular due to her humorous and Genre Savvy reaction to seeing Jason on the road, setting her apart from the usual Too Dumb to Live victims.

@ Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

    Lizbeth

Elizabeth "Lizbeth" Mott

Played By: Nancy McLoughlin

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: As Jason closes is on Lizbeth, she desperately holds out a handful of cash and her ATM card.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Lizbeth falls into a mud puddle without getting a speck of dirt on her face. Then, when Jason seemingly impales her with a fencepost, the impact forces her head under the surface of the puddle, so the injury isn't shown.
  • Cool Big Sis: Lizbeth is Paula's sister, and Paula's eagerness to work with Lizbeth and concern over her disappearance indicates the two are close.
  • Genre Savvy: She has an appropriately wary reaction to seeing Jason.
Lizbeth: I've seen enough horror movies to know any weirdo wearing a mask is never friendly.
@ Run for the Border
  • The Star Wars Legends comics "The Duty", "Salvaged," and "Parallels", along with the final Republic Commando novel, feature Jedi fleeing toward the Outer Rim (where the Empire has no presence) in the months after Order 66. All of the groups contain Younglings. Sympathetic scavengers and freight haulers smuggle all of the groups (save the one in "Parallels") past Imperial patrols. The three latter groups make it, but the group in "The Duty" is wiped out by Vader.

Reposting from the bottom of the last page so it doesn't get lost.

Here are a few more examples I would appreciate having looked at.

1. A rewrite of one of Moonface's examples on Characters.Buso Renkin:

  • Meaningful Name:
    • As a humanoid homunculus, Moonface’s name is both a reference to the Man in the Moon, and a play on "moon phase" — a reference to the ability of his Buso Renkin, which creates 30 duplicates, each with a head representing a phase of the moon.
    • As a human, Lunare Nikolaev’s forename means luna or moon, represented his obsession with the moon.

2. A revision of a House Goliath example on Characters.Necromunda (I don't think I have posted it before, but I cannot remember):

  • The Berserker: While many Goliaths will descend into a stimm-induced rage, caring for nothing except killing what's in front of them, the hulking Brutes known as 'Zerkers are near uncontrollable lumps of muscle with limited mental functions. Created through the overuse of drugs and muscle-grafts, 'Zerkers will charge directly at an enemy, ignoring their defensive fire, and rip them limb from limb. In-game, these 'Zerkersnote  have high Strength and Toughness characteristics, gain extra Attacks from the drugs in their system and have the Impetuous special rule, allowing them to get into combat easier after finishing off their opponent.

3. A revision of a Daemons of Khorne example from Characters.Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Grand Alliance Chaos:

  • Walking Wasteland: Bloodthirsters of Unfettered Fury are so saturated with the power of Khorne that the ground around them cracks and bleeds molten rock, causing mortal wounds against any enemy that gets too close.

4. A revision to one of the Silent King's examples on Characters.Warhammer 40000 Necrons:

  • The Slow Path: Rather than entering stasis like the rest of his race, Szarekh stayed awake and lucid for the sixty million years between the Necrons' rebellion and the game’s present timeline, while travelling the void of intergalactic space.

Gold and White Are Divine: He's mostly white with gold hooves, cross-wheel on his back, and a coloration on his head.

This is a Zero-Context Example because it doesn't say how he is divine. I know you said it in other examples, but according to How to Write an Example - Don't Refer to Other Items on the Page, you shouldn't assume that the rest of the page is always going to stay the same.

Each example should be able to stand on its own.

Arivne: so, this becomes like this?
For my trope proposal:
Trope Title:
Win For You, Lose For The Poor
Laconic: A Moral Dilemma where you must lose on purpose so someone else who needs the prize more can win.

Trope Description:
It's your choice: Shall you keep using your superior skills to win, or will you lose on purpose so that poor guy can win?

If you realize that you already have enough assets or the other guy deserves it more, you have a choice to make. You can either deliberately lose the competition and let him win, or you can win the competition, accept the prize and then just give it to the poor guy.

The poor guy's backstory may be set as a Dramatic Irony. Sometimes you learn that guy's backstory right before or after the competition.

May lead to a Secret Test of Character moment where you will be rewarded for your generosity either by the poor guy or other people.

A Sub-Trope of Moral Dilemma. Compare Friend-or-Idol Decision, where the other character is someone you know (a friend, family member or even an Arch-Enemy), and the event mostly takes place in dire situations. This trope usually takes place in/related to a contest/competition and the competitor is usually a stranger who is poor/disabled/homeless/young/old, etc. despite its title.

For Kuukiyomi:

  • Shout-Out: The 58th situation of Kuukiyomi 3: Consider It More and More!! resembles Star Wars, and the player must increase the player character's Laser Blade's length during the battle with the Darth Vader-like villain. Increasing it too much will lead to a Distant Reaction Shot where the laser blade impales the ceiling of the Death Star-like lair and reaches the vacuum of space.

Thanks.

@ Power Rangers S.P.D.

  • Combat Parkour: As the Kat Ranger, Kat does some impressive flipping and dodging during her one battle, while delivering some devastating kicks and taking out a whole squad of Mooks single-handedly in under three minutes.
@ The Last Days of Krypton
  • Adapted Out: In the comics, the Phantom Zone hosts scores of colorful prisoners convicted of crimes of varying severity. Here, Zod and his followers are the only inmates at the time of Krypton's destruction.
  • Despair Event Horizon: No-Ton slumps to the ground, crying, after the arks he's trying to build for a Homeworld Evacuation collapse due to the effects of an earthquake.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Tyr-Us and Gil-Ex are overly entitled and somewhat stiff in their first scenes, but they don't come across as completely nasty and irrational until after spending the better part of a year imprisoned in the Phantom Zone.
@ Most Definitely Not a Villain
  • One episode of Enlisted has PFC Gumble impersonate a doctor in a video testimonial. His disguise would be a lot more convincing if the video captions didn't list his title as "Real Doctor."
@ Wrench Wench @ Mage Marksman
  • Star Wars: Republic: Jedi Zule Xiss and Dass Jennir wield both lightsabers and blasters in combat during the Clone Wars and the aftermath of Order 66, respectively.
@ Sonny with a Chance
  • In "Sonny With a Secret," Tawni exposes the villain and foils an attempt to kill Sonny by noticing that Penelope is wearing the same shoes from a previous disguise.
@ Burke's Law
  • Burn Baby Burn: In "Who Killed the Movie Mogul," the Burkes question Leo Barnett's main starlet and reluctant mistress as she puts everything Leo ever gave her into a car (which he also gave her). She then uses some of the studio's equipment to blow the car up.

  • Here be monsters: Nemesis is a affable goddess known as The Balancer and is an agent of the forces of darkness. Summoned by the vampire Zahalia Walker to see if vengeance is deserved against Buffy for killing Walker's sons, Nemesis decides to play a game with Buffy to see if her love for her mother Joyce exceeds that of Walker's for her sons. Kidnapping Joyce, Nemesis creates an intricate game that forces Buffy to confront her greatest fears to save her. Nemesis anticipates that Walker will betray her and try to kill Buffy even if she succeeds so manipulates the situation to have Walker die at the hands of the friend of one of her son's victims in order to balance the cycle of violence.

Hi guys. It's me once again. Let's have another try.

For a potential Headscratchers page of Como dice el dicho. Here's one for the episode "El león no es como lo pintan":

  • Why do Gael and Mateo bully Fabián at first? Gael implies that they bullied Haydeé because she has two moms, but it's never stated why they bullied Fabián.
  • If Rosalía didn't want Gael to discover what had happened to his brother, then why didn't she shut down his aunt from his life? Gael mentions that his aunt was the one who kept speaking with his "brother".
  • When Gael and Mateo go to look for Gael's brother Aldo at the nightclub where Gael's aunt says he works, only to find out that Aldo's transgender and her name is now Tara, why doesn't Tara's boss tell him immediately that Tara had come out instead of taking him to see a woman he didn't know and tell him that she was his brother? It does really seem at the beginning that Tara's boss is playing a joke on Gael and it was possibly not the best way to reintroduce Tara into Gael's life.
  • Why did Gael stop to have birthday cakes after his father died? Rosalía forgot his birthdays or what?
  • Why does exactly Tara die? While struggling to get into Gael's room, she was just pushed by Joaquín against a column but then she just falls.
