I'm back and I have another examples that need proofread:

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: Part of the reason why Stealth Symphony had a hard time finding an audience is because of the premise starts off pretty strange compared to Jump standards and Narita's fascination with amoral but charismatic killers and the manga's over-the-top violence which sometimes clashes with the tone of Shonen Jump.
  • Cult Classic: Despite the manga is axed and got faded into obscurity, there are some readers who enjoyed the manga to the point it was called one of the most underrated manga by Jump. Mainly because the manga is filled with interesting characters and plot twist and also a great art by Narita himself.
  • Evil Is Sexy: Waybis is a beautiful mermaid that only wears a bra as her clothing. However, she is also revealed to be the leader of a Human Trafficking ring and is an ultra sadistic person to boot as she loves to see other people suffer after giving them hope.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The manga cover has an enormous amount of casts and has a potential to develop to become something better. However, due to the manga got axed by Shonen Jump after Chapter 20, they just becoming a quick cameo at best.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Combined with What Could Have Been and They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character. The manga featured a gigantic cast of interesting looking characters and the author could make some fascinating story arcs based on their perspectives given Narita's track record of his previous works, Durararara and Baccano. Not only that, due to the amount of the cast members, the author could expand the setting even further despite the setting itself only taking place in the city of Jinbocho. It also has an interesting open ending that could be used to expand the territory of Narita's storytelling even more. However, due to the low ratings in Weekly Shonen Jump rankings and as a result the manga got axed pretty quickly, Stealth Symphony never uses its potential to the fullest and never seen the light of success that his previous works had.
  • The Woobie: After the story hits Chapter 16, Jig is essentially this. In the past, Jig's family was killed by some bullies who burned down Jig's house out of pettiness and as a result, Jig ended up getting berserk and turns himself into a dragon while brutally murdering the people who kill his family. As a result of the incident, Jin went insane and living in a complete denial. However, a mysterious woman tries to help him until it was revealed that Jig got backstabbed by said woman because she hires a mercenary to kill Jig to obtain the treasure that Jig had in the earlier chapters. Not even helping that the mercenary that the woman hired and one of the woman's subordinates in later chapters either taunts him or beats him up which resulted him going insane and meeting his own death by getting beheaded by the mercenary that Jig hired.

I wish to make a Quotes entry for the Empire Earth as a place to put these lines from the game I see as noteworthy for the tropes they contain... And because some of them sound really cool.

  • Russian Campaign

Badass Boast: Girgor II: "Bismark once said the issues of his day would be solved with blood and iron. It seems we must solve ours with iron alone."

Unwilling Roboticisation: In this case "Unwilling Cyborgisation"

Sergei Molotov: "I have recovered the plans for the Time Machine, and destroyed the prototype... but I fear the radiation released by the blast was too... much..."

[Collapses]

Girgor II: "Fear not, Molotov. Novaya Russia cannot afford to have so brilliant a soldier taken from her. There is little our scientists cannot repair."

  • Greek Campaign

Alternate Character Interpretation: Narrator: "The assassins are dead and the Tomb of Xerxes has been captured. Alexander's triumph in Western Asia is now complete, though darkened by one realization: Philotas, the commander of the Companion Cavalry, was part of the conspiracy. This once-trusted friend must now be put to death. The path to greatness is not an easy one. History claims that Alexander wept when he had no more lands to conquer. But perhaps, as he stood alone at the height of his power, there was another reason behind the tears."

All of these are taken directly from the game, so any grammatical mistakes are on the shoulders of the game writers. So far, though, it all looks solid to me.

Bismark once said <- no comma the issues of his day would be solved with blood and iron. It seems we must solve ours with iron alone.

That was two sentences joined by a comma splice.

  • There is little our scientists cannot repair.

The assassins are dead and the Tomb of Xerxes has been captured. Alexander's triumph in Western Asia is now complete, <- comma though darkened by one realization: Philotas, the commander of the Companion Cavalry, was part of the conspiracy.

Long Hair Is Feminine: Her head shape resemble with "woman head with black hair", which also very fit for her due being the most girlish of the female engines.

Hidden Depths: Though never shown in series, as stated by his profile at Vol.5, Uryuu has low blood pressure.

A description for the Kuja in general

Amazon Lily is an island populated by an all female tribe called "Kuja". Since there are no men in their tribe and they're quite isolated from the rest of the world, Kujas tend to be ignorant and diffident about males, although some leave the island and come back pregnant (and always with females). Their costumes resemble those of the Amazons and are they ruled by Boa Hancock, who has joined the Seven Warlords of the Sea to protect her island.

Every Kuja is quite strong and has some proficiency with Haki, and most of them wear really revealing outfits. Their most common weapon is a snake that can become a bow or a staff. However, only the strongest of them are part of the Kuja Pirates.

A description for the Kuja Warriors

Those who aren't members of the Kuja Pirates remain in Amazon Lily, and thus have little knowledge about the outside world. While not as strong as the Kuja Pirates, they're still proficient warriors.

A folder for a couple of characters

EDIT: corrected

folder:Nerine]]

Nerine

A member of the Kuja tribe who's very curious about men. Upon meeting Luffy, she takes note of everything about him and uses him as a standard for all other men, to the point that she starts to believe that all men are made of rubber.

  • Constantly Curious: Since she's never met a man before Luffy, she writes down everything she discovers about him.
  • Hair Decoration: Has a yellow hair-clip.
  • Innocent Bigot: Although she's friends with Luffy, she treats him and other men like another species.
  • Ki Attacks: As with all Kuja, she can use Haki. Her main use is to imbue her arrows with Haki to make them explode upon contact with the target.
  • Made of Explodium: Her arrow become explosive after being imbued with Haki.

[[/folder]]

Tropes for Gloriosa

  • Category Traitor: Due to having left Amazon Lily, she's considered a traitor among the Kuja. While the Kuja Empress of that time forgave Gloriosa after she returned, she lives in the outskirts, isolated from the other Kuja.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: She's always been the Straight Man to Boa Hancock, but becomes this once Hancock falls in love with Luffy, as she constantly reminds her that none of Luffy's actions mean they're married.
  • Feather Boa Constrictor: Being a Kuja, she has a snake that she uses as a staff to give her the image of a wise old lady.
  • Flower In Her Hair: She has a small pink flower as a decoration for her hair.
  • The Hermit: Downplayed because she does not live that isolated from the others, but she still has little contact with the rest of the Kuja tribe, save for Hancock.
  • Oh, Crap!: She's shocked to learn that a man (Luffy) is on Amazon Lily.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Everyone call her "Elder Nyon". The only exception is Silvers Rayleigh, who's a close friend of hers.

Description and tropes for Citron

"They sure did lead us on a merry goose chase. It'd have been faster to just wait at Cacao, and have tea and chocolates."

She's quite lazy and confident about her family's abilities, as she suggested that they wait for the Straw Hats at Cacao Island instead of following them.

She's seen with her twin sisters following the Thousand Sunny.

  • Badass Arm-Fold: While following the Thousand Sunny, she's presented in this pose, confident that they'll capture the Straw Hats.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Her eyes and hair are both orange.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She's seen for the first time at the tea party, but makes her official appearance much later, when she's following the Straw Hats with Smoothie and Cinnamom.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Not only does she resembles Big Mom physically, but she is also quite the glutton just like her.
  • Oh, Crap!: After Smoothie becomes bigger to attack the Straw Hats, she's afraid their own ship will sink and warns her sister.
  • Rapunzel Hair: Her bushy hair is really long and covers her entire back.
  • Tattooed Crook: She's loyal to Big Mom and, following the Longlegs' tradition, has a tattoo on her thigh.

Description and trope for Cinnamom

"How impatient. Men are quite stupid"

She considers men stupid and thinks women are better at dealing with problems. She has a long sword similar to her twin sister Smoothie's, implying she's a good swordswoman.

She's seen with her twin sisters following the Thousand Sunny.

  • Beauty Is Bad: She's quite stunning and has a sexy pair of long legs, but also a misandrist pirate.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: If you look closely, you can see her at the tea party and she is among the family members who are about to kill the Vinsmokes, but she makes her official appearance much later, when she's following the Straw Hats with Smoothie and Citron.
  • Hand Cannon: During the tea party, she holds the Vinsmokes at gunpoint with a large and powerful gun made with the purpose of piercing the Vinsmoke's tough skin, although in her hand the gun doesn't look that large.
  • Oh, Crap!: She doesn't panic like Citron, but it's clear that she's afraid a large Smoothie might be a bit too heavy for their ship.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's likely ten feet tall, thanks to her really long legs, and is quite beautiful.
  • Tattooed Crook: Those of the Longleg tribe have the habit of having a tattoo on their legs, and she follows it. She's also the daughter and a loyal subordinate of Big Mom.

for Smoothie

  • Awesome, but Impractical: Having the ability to enlarge themselves is quite awesome, especially when it gives you the ability to send giant razor winds. Too bad it's not quite as awesome when the ship you're standing on can't sustain your weight.

Spider-Man (PS4)

Spider-Man:

Zed Wales

  • Break the Cutie : Zed, despite growing up together with Rachel over a decade, doesn't see her overheat until #5, and when it does happen, he actually cries.
  • Dope Slap: Gave one to Nova so hard it sent her through the ground, leaving Impact Silhouettes for her.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Initially he doesn't like Nova at all, and interprets everything she says as an insult or arrogance.
  • Living Lie Detector: Zed could easily discern truth from lie.
  • Missing Mom: His character arc is based around his mother disappearing into the subspace thirteen years ago. Although sadly, it might stay like that seeing as how Zed's mother and many others that were in the incident 13 years have become part of Messiah's data. With Messiah & the hyperspace destroyed, it looks as though Zed might not ever see his mom ever again.
  • Tsundere: While Zed is rather strict and annoyed by Nova's antics, he was genuinely concerned and worried when Nova was in danger, implying he does care more about her than he is willing to admit.

Alexis Stephan A shy, nervous girl lacking in confidence, Alexis is the protagonist. When she was younger, Trina Kyra gave her the rare card, Warrior Queen, which Alexis refers to as her 'avatar'. Through playing Card Guard and developing her skills, Alexis gains friends and becomes a more confident person, as well as unlocking the power of Nemises. However, this power corrupts her, causing her to become cold and arrogant, and with Reiza's coercion, Alexis abandons her trusted Jack Paladian in favour of a Dark Paladin Deck. After a merciless winning streak she is finally saved from her insanity by Kyra, who makes Alexis realize the folly of relying on the precognitive abilities of Nemises instead of her own inner strength and courage. Though Alexis switches back to her Jack Paladin deck, she cannot deny the part of herself that lusts after the Nemises power. She eventually accepts both desires- to use and reject Nemises- as equal parts of herself, manifesting in the Majesty Queen Warrior card.

Tropes applying to her:

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Belittling Kyra's strength or making her feel powerless are the only ways to really anger her, which activates her Nemises.
  • Break the Cutie: On several occasions, though none hit her as hard as Kyra leaving V5, resulting in her losing all direction and falling for Reiza's games by picking up the Dark Paladins.
  • Evil Laugh: At the peak of her insanity, she gives one when she thinks she's on the verge of beating Kyra in Episode 50. .
  • Hidden Depths: She starts off as the average shy, nice kid, and mostly follows that pattern for most of the season. As she admits in the final Fight of season 1, she became addicted to Nemises that quickly because she enjoys the feeling of being superior to everyone else. And her obsession with being acknowledged by Kyra is not healthy.
  • Hidden Eyes: Alexis's quite fond of these, having them frequently when depressed or using Nemises.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: She just wants to become good enough for Kyra to acknowledge her. In typical fashion, the trope gets very nastily deconstructed. And even after she snaps out of her addiction, a part of her still wants to accept Nemises.
  • Ill Girl: She is suffering from chronic heart disease.
  • Mind Rape: Not as bad as Kyra's, but Alexis does suffer ones from both Reiza in Season 1 and Tara towards the end of Season 3.
Nice Girl: A very friendly and gentle girl who enjoys playing Card Guard for fun. Not a Morning Person: She can't get up without Emi to wake her up, and even then she looks rather dazed for a while afterwards.
  • True Companions: Views her teammates as this.
  • Not So Different: Episode 49 reveals that she and Reiza are extremely similar. Both started out as kind before being corrupted by Nemises,
  • Psychic Powers: Her Nemises which gives her precognition of game-winning cards and an evil persona.
  • Sanity Slippage: By the time she gets Nemises, she's clearly going through this. Even while under its influence, she jumps about. Contrast her fights with Kevin and Ryudou against those with Kalin, Bidou, and especially, against Kyra. And there's that Evil Laugh in her fight with Reiza...
  • That Man Is Dead: She dismisses Warrior Queen as merely a 'former avatar' when Kyra confronts her with it in Episode 49.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Alexis's confidence and skill growth across the series builds up to this. It finally happens in Episode 41, but with a side-order of Drunk with Power. Though it's instantly subverted when Kyra and Reiza demonstrate in quick succession that it was Alexis's Nemises, not Alexis herself that was growing stronger.
    • Beginning with standing up to Reiza in episode 53, and thoroughly confirmed in her successive victories against Kendall in episode 56 and Reiza in episode 65, Alexis now plays this trope completely straight as during Season 2 she finally has more wins than defeats compared to her barely break even record in Season 1.
    • Comparing Alexis to where to begin in Season 1, her parallel position in High School and how she handles it speaks volumes about her growth. Rather than shrinking into the background, she takes the bull by the horns and even in effect, challenges the Student Council's disapproval of the Cardguard Club to spark a revolution in the student body's way of thinking towards Cardguard.
  • Trapped in Another World: In Batte Guard, where she's disappeared from Earth
  • Unknown Rival: Pretty much to Kyra. Tragically, this is what fuels Alexis's decent into darkness, believing what Kyra wants is for her to grow stronger before she'll acknowledge her.

Trina Kyra The Rival. Kyra is a world-class Card Guard player with an almost perfect win-loss record. She is cold, aloof and is always searching for strong opponents to train against. She is so confident in her own abilities that she will declare "Final Turn" when she is certain of victory. She was once a good friend to Reiza, and together with Tara they made plans to form the ultimate Cardguard team "Lancers Copers". However, Reiza became corrupted by Nemises in an effort to become as good as Kyra, and unable to stop her friend from falling into darkness, Kyra abandoned her and fled.

Tropes apply to her:

  • The Ace: Kyra has the best win record of the main characters, having lost all of four times.
  • Aloof Ally: Post-regionals, she has a tendency to basically let the rest of the team get on with it without her.
    • Subverted in the Link Tournament arc when she's willing to help Iza get better, and even commenting that they fought their hardest as a team.
  • The Atoner: In Episode 49, it's revealed she feels guilty for not being able to stop Reiza previously. Her confrontation with Alexis in the same episode is her attempt to try and atone for her mistake and how she ran away from Reiza.
  • Broken Ace: As good as she is, Kyra can't find fun in Card Guard any more after what happened between her and Reiza until her first fight with Alexis. Even after that, what's happened to her over the past few years has completely changed her.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The foundation of Alexis obsession with her.
  • Blood Knight: She's always seeking powerful Card Guard opponents, to the point where it's possible to bribe her into a social activity with the promise of strong competition.
  • The Corruptible: Self-confessed, she admits that if there was another way of becoming stronger, even if it would endanger the world, she'd go for it because she's driven herself that far over the edge.
  • Crutch Character: For the majority of the first season, Kyra is V5's strongest duelist, and most of the team victories can be contributed to her and Kotori as Alexis and Matt are fairly new to the game, and needed time and experience to develop their skills. She even ends up leaving the team during the second tournament after an argument with Alexis, and hasn't fought in the National Tournament since.
  • Cynical Mentor: She doesn't really seem to care if Alexis succeeds or fails at first, and usually gets coaxed into providing support by Milla.
    • As of Episode 44, it may be that Kyra is a Deconstruction of this. The reason she seems not to care is because she doesn't know what to do to stop Alexis falling to her Nemises and is possibly still filled with guilt for not preventing Reiza's fall.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: The death of her parents viciously stripped away her cheerful personality, and in the space of about a year, more resembled herself at the time of Season 1. But Reiza's corruption by Nemises worsened it still; when she returns to Hitsue, Milla recognizes her, but Kyra's by all accounts, a completely different person.
  • The Dragon: To Tara and Void once she's willingly corrupted.
  • Facial Markings: After accepting Hanoi, she has red markings underneath her eyes.
  • Fallen Hero: In season 3, she accepts the power of Hanoi and becomes one of the antagonists.
  • Finishing Move: If she says the words 'Final Turn', you're generally screwed.
  • Heel Realization: Tells Alexis flat out that she is disgusted at the sins she committed and intends to get rid of herself from existence.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Milla
  • Kill It with Fire: Her Units tend to attack with fire.
  • Large Ham: Not during everyday life, but when it comes to fights, Kyra really likes to grandstand, especially when she's about to win.
  • Mind Rape: Undergoes a brutal one at the hands of Tara in Episodes 127 and 128, leading to her Face Heel Turn.
  • Minor Living Alone: Since moving back to Hitsue at the age of 15-16.
  • Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: Incredibly so. Because she's got a lot to be desired when it comes to explaining her motives and actions, she’s regarded both within and beyond the characters around her as uncaring. But she is working to reaching the same end as the other characters want.
  • More than Mind Control: Episode 162 reveals that she never let her heart be controlled by Hanoi, and kept reversing cardfighters fully aware that she would eventually have to pay the price for what she did.
  • Not So Different: Many parallels are drawn between Alexis's fall to Nemises in her quest for Kyra to notice her and Kyra's surrender to Hanoi in order to keep up with Alexis.
  • Not So Omniscient After All: In Episode 44 a rather popular piece of fanon was shot down, Kyra neither has nor knows about Nemises. It also nicely presents Fridge Brilliance as to why Kyra was so vague with Alexis before, she has no idea what exactly Nemises does or how to prevent it.
  • Not So Stoic: In episode 40, when she realizes Alexis may be starting to depend too much on her Nemises.
    • She's quite distraught about losing to Reiza in Episode 58, and losing her best chance at saving her and takes it out on Alexis.
    • In Episode 64, when Alexis slips back under Nemises's control Kyra finally steps up and calls out to her with quite a bit of emotion behind her voice.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: After beating Reiza towards the end of Link Tournament.
  • Shock and Awe: In season 2, she switch to a Lightstage deck after the Kandina are sealed. She continues using them during the first half of the third season.
  • The Stoic: Kyra is a very serious person who rarely smiles.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Kyra isn't really a bad person, but she tends to have trouble expressing herself, so she mostly comes off as cold. But there are times when she can be genuinely kind or encouraging.
  • Temporarily a Villain: She's forced to become this after her encounter with the possessed Tara, although it's later revealed that she willingly chose this path. Alexis eventually beats some sense into her.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Thanks to Alexis appearing in her life, Kyra becomes happier and friendly which even prevents her from being cynical once again because Alexis proves herself to be her worthy opponent and saving her from Hanoi's influence.
  • Used to Be More Social: Any flashback to Kyra's time spent with Milla and Alexis shows just what a Cheerful Child she used to be, in stark contrast to her teenage self.
  • When She Smiles: When Matt defeats her she finally manage to smile clamming that he has already surpass her expectation, much to his surprise.

Matt Tendall An employee at Towns Card, and the nephew of the manager. He initially refuses to play Card Guard but is forced into trying the game by Sam. Although Matt is the least-experienced and least-enthusiastic of Team V5, he possesses a Photographic Memory that gives him a powerful edge in the game.

Tropes apply to him:

  • Break the Cutie: Haunted by the memories of his parents' death, he temporarily quit V5
  • Death Glare: Whenever customers make a ruckus in the shop, his expression turns murderers.
  • Japanese Delinquents: He has a reputation for being the "Boss Man" of Miami High, a title given to the leader of a male gang. He never actually does anything bad, meaning that he probably got the moniker due to his cold and standoffish personality, and his tattered coat (which is traditionally associated with the attire of male delinquents).
  • Nice Guy: He might be snarky sometimes, distantly stoic and at first a delinquent but behind it all, he's actually a very kind boy who thinks of his friend's wellbeing first than himself especially Alexis and Cathy.
  • The Nicknamer: In Mini Cardguard, his contacts list is almost entirely nicknames for everyone.
  • Not So Above It All: In episode 70 he initially acts all serious… until he briefly remains alone, at which point he takes a picture of himself – the same thing the other were doing earlier.
  • Not So Different: To Kyra; they've both been through the same trauma, with the same impact upon them, and having to rediscover their love for the game, which leads to their coming out of their shells.
  • Photographic Memory: Arguably deconstructs the trope, due to being forced to relive his parent’s deaths if he remembers it.
  • The Stoic: He is often seen with a deadpan expression.
  • The Smart Guy: Of Team V5.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Realizing his parents would want him to be happy when playing Card Guard prompts Matt giving himself a chance to ask Sam for a key to his small treasure chest containing a Cardguard deck constructed with love from his parents and wears the key around his neck in memory of them.
  • Used to Be More Social: Prior to his parent’s death Matt was a cheerful and an energetic kid.

For NightmareFuel/GirlsFrontline:

  • At the third part of the Continuum Turbulence event, you finally get to see the effect of the Collapse Fluid up close, and this is the first time you'll have to fight against the ELID Infectees, flesh-and-blood KCCO military personnel who are turned into zombies after M4A1 detonated the Collapse Fluid during the Singularity event. It's also implied that they're technically still alive, only with their skin silicified and their higher brain functions eroded, until they are left as nothing more than a shambling husk.
