I'm back, with some tropes and description for a character (Little Oars Jr.):

Little Oars Jr

One of Whitebeard's subordinate captains and a descendant of Oars. In contrast to his ancestor's fame, he's a kind person who even appreciates simple gifts like a hand made hat (though proportionate to his size). He's very loyal and a close friend of Ace, to the point that he's one of the first captains at Marineford to rush in an attempt to save him, but is quickly stopped by the combinate attacks of Kuma, Doflamingo and Moria.

After being mauled by the Warlords, he collapses to the ground, and his heavy body prevents the marines to raise the section. After a while, he recover his senses and push the last of Whitebeard's ship but is latter taken down by cannon fire.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Doflamingo cuts off his right leg. Moria complains of that because it prevents him to use Oars Jr's body as a zombie.
  • Ambiguously Human: Or rather, ambiguosly giant. He's referred as a giant, but his demonic appearance says otherwise.
  • Barbarian Long Hair: He has a long red mane that goes down on his back. It's so characteristic his crewmembers wears large wigs that resemble his hair.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: When you're against three of the seven Warlords of the sea, there's not much you can do. Kuma, Doflaming and Moria have an easy time with him.
  • Dead Guy Junior: He's name "Oars Jr." afer his ancestor.
  • Determinator: Despite being brutally mauled by the Warlords, he still keeps on helping the Whitebeard Pirates with all the energy he has left.
  • Futile Hand Reach: After enduring multiple attacks, he tries to reach Ace with his hand but collapses before he can do it.
  • Gentle Giant: Almost literally. He's huge but also a carefree person who likes the little things of life.
  • Horned Humanoid: Just like Oars, he has large horns that give him a Oni-like appearance.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Moria pierces through his chest with his shadow spear.
  • Made of Iron: Hit by a powerful shockwave? Having the right leg cut off? Being impaled in the chest? No problem, he still has enough energy to push a ship.
  • Nice Hat: Wears a large kasa which is very important to him, since it's a handmade gift from by Ace.
  • Our Giants Are Bigger: He's in fact twice as big as the average giant.
  • Rasputinian Death: First Kuma sends him an Ursus Wave, then Doflamingo cuts off his leg and finally Moria impales him. In the end he still has some energy to try to reach Ace before he collapses. Subverted as he's still alive but possibly Double Subverted if the cannon fire ultimately kills him off.
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: Has a necklace made of giants skulls but, unlike most examples of this trope, he's a nice guy.
  • Uncertain Doom: While he survives the Warlords' combined attacks, it's not certain if the cannons finished him off or simply knocked him.
  • The Worf Effect: He's immediately taken down to show how high the stakes are in the Summit War.

rush in an -> rush in in an

Yes, I know it looks wrong. It's actually correct: you're using "in" in two different ways.

he collapses to the ground <- no comma and his heavy body prevents the marines from raising the section. After a while, he recovers his senses and pushes the last of Whitebeard's ships but is later taken down by cannon fire.

You're missing some words in the second sentence but I don't know what they are. It has to do with how or where he pushes the ship.

Moria complains about it because it prevents him from using Oars Jr.'s body as a zombie.
  • ambiguosly -> ambiguously
He has a long red mane that goes down on his back. It's so characteristic, <- comma his crewmembers wear
  • When you're against three...Doflaming -> When you're up against three...Doflamingo
  • He's name "Oars Jr." afer his ancestor. -> He's named "Oars Jr." after his ancestor.
  • He's huge but also a carefree -> He's huge, <- comma but also a carefree
  • give him a Oni-like appearance. -> give him an oni-like appearance.
  • Having the right leg cut off? -> Having his right leg cut off?
  • since it's a handmade gift from by Ace. -> since it's a handmade gift from by Ace.
Subverted, <- comma as he's still alive, <- comma but

Fridge Brilliance

  • While Merlin might have Jim ill-prepared for the Pale Lady, Jim wins anyway through a magic more versatile and powerful than anything Merlin or Morgana could conceive or understand: as Blinky states, it is his heart. It allows him to remind Angor Rot to remember and be the hero he once was and give the heroes the opening they need to take her down. It is his circle of loved ones (who he loves to the point of surrendering half of his humanity for and inspires them to find greatness they never knew of within themselves) who seals away Morgana through their combined efforts. He may not be a wizard, but like Harry Potter, his greatest weapon/power is his heart and ability to love.

Another EP to proofread and i need to post this quick in CM cleanup thread for Saturday:

What's the Work

Darling In The Fran XX is a 2018 mecha anime. The story is set in a distant future where the world is ruined and humanity lives in a mobile fort cities called "Plantations". And those plantations was managed by a mysterious organization called APE and the creatures called Klaxosaurus were trying to attack those plantations. To encounter them, APE made the children who lives inside the plantations and don't know the outside world is like to fight against them by piloting a robot called Fran XX. For most of the children, Fran XX proves their very existence and their only purpose is to fight against them.

However, the story mostly focuses on the Plantantion 13 and one of its members, Hiro, who used to be known as a prodigy for fighting against the Klaxosaurus. However, a certain event cause him unable to piloting Fran XX and he thought that his existence seems unnecessary. However, one day, a mysterious girl with horns on her head known as "Zero Two" appears before him.

Alright, I mentioned in the brief summary that the Plantations and the children were lead by a mysterious organization called APE and it's leader is referred by children as Papa. Which is the candidate that I'll bring today.

Who is He/What Has He Done

Papa is the leader of the mysterious organization known as APE and is essentially the one who controls the children in the Plantations. However, he has an interesting twist: He is actually a member and a leader of an ancient Hive-Mind known as VIRM. So when Papa used to be a VIRM leader before he came to control the children, he used to come to other planets, forcing some living creatures in said planets to assimilate with them otherwise they would be eradicated. This was proved by the Klaxosaurs civilization whose civilization got destroyed by VIRM because they refused to surrender against them. Fortunately the remaining Klaxosaurus live in the depths of the Earth.

However, as the time went by, VIRM then disguise themselves as a cult who claims to be the savior of humanity so that the Earth people could be easily subjugated. To this end, they invented a technology that was known as the Magma Technology in which the humans used it too much and as a result, leaving Earth as a barren wasteland and making the Klaxosaurus angry. And this is where Papa/VIRM step up claiming to be the saviors of humanity by build the Fran XX technology and the plantation technology to combat the Klaxosaurs.

As Papa, he's a bit extreme to say at least. While he present himself as a benevolent leader of the cult...If one of the children are rebel against him, there will be a severe punishment like a memory wipe. And he's the reason on why Hiro ended up like he was in the present. Because Hiro went to save the young Zero-Two from the abuse and the horrifying experimentation and escaping from Plantation, Papa then orders his troops to capture them and forcefully erase their memories. He went worse in Episode 15 where he orders the Plantation 13 and the other squads to fight against a giant Klaxosaurus in order to overtake an area known as Gran Crevasse. Now this doesn't seem bad. However, the way that Papa counterattacking the Klaxosaur is horrible because he ordered Squad 26 to act as suicide bombers and detonate most of the plantations to stop the Klaxosaurs attacks.

In Episode 18 or 19, it was revealed that Papa ordered his scientists to erased Hiro's friends, Mitsuru and Kokoro's, memories after his special squad, The Nine's, leader Nine Alpha reported that Mitsuru and Kokoro are getting married. In Episode 20, after the leader of the Klaxosaurs got the ultimate weapon that decides the fate of Earth, the Star Entity, Papa then reveals himself to the rest of the APE members that he is the entity known as VIRM and then absorbs all the APE members to his consciousness. After this, he then decides to destroy the Earth because it doesn't reach VIRM's expectations. In the final battle when Hiro and Zero-Two merged together as Strelizia Apus and tries to wiping VIRM and its fleets, unfortunately Hiro and Zero-Two are killed in the ensuing fight and VIRM gets away with everything. Waiting until the next human evolution. Fortunately however, both Hiro and Zero-Two are reincarnated. So yay I guess?

Heinous Standard

Baseline standard? Papa/VIRM obliterates it with flying colors. From mass genocide of an entire species, plantation explosion to countering with Klaxosaurs, brainwashing, forcing some species to assimilate with it and so on so there's no issue here...However, the main problem is his mitigating factors that I will address.

Freudian Excuse/Mitigating Factors

Alright, here's the tricky part of Papa/VIRM being qualifying for this trope. The main issue relies on the so called Well-Intentioned Extremist thing that VIRM/Papa had and the Hive-Mind nature that surrounding them.

Okay, so Papa/VIRM believed that many people need to assimilate with them because they pitied the other species commits something such as war, crime etc. However, I'm not seeing the WIE things that they had. The main issue is that VIRM forced the entire species to assimilate with them otherwise the planet will be destroyed and the fact that they wanted to destroy the Earth because the Klaxosaurs leader took one of their weapons to destroy the Klaxosaurs for good out of spite...Undermines any potential WIE that they had IMO so yeah...

Also, Let's talk about the Hive Mind mentality that this species had: I felt that they both have the same thinking and treated as an individual rather than a group. Like in Naraku's case. Because I felt that both Papa and the second in command, who are essentially VIRM in disguise, have the same thoughts and feelings. So at the end of the day, I'm torn on this one.

Final Verdict

He's the one I'm rather on fence about. On one hand you can say yes due to VIRM's extremely petty motive because some people didnt assimilate to them. On the other hand you could say no due to the various mitigating factors that they had. Until then, thoughts?

@Arivne Sorry for the word cruft and the natter that this EP had. But I think I'm fine if someone else could proofread this EP or I just going to post it tomorrow.

Some tropes for Sadi-Chan:

A chief-guard of Impel Down and the one in command of the Jailer Beasts. She's a sadistic person who enjoys hearing the screams of her enemies (and even of her allies) and, fittingly for her sadist personality, she has a pitchfork with a concealed whip as a weapon of choice. She has a crush on Magellan.

When Luffy infiltrates Impel Down, she sends Minotaurus [that's literally his name] to stop him and is later assigned to guard level 5's entrance. After luffy, Ivankov, Jinbe and Crocodile escaped from level 6 and defeats the Jailer Beasts she angrily attacks them and fight Ivankov, who manages to tie her up using her own whip.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Invoked, as she wants to be called Sadi-Chan.
  • Anti-Hero: A rare antagonistic example. While she's guarding a prison full of evil pirates, she enjoys whipping the prisoners a bit too much.
  • Bad Boss: She's fond of whipping the Jailer Beasts as a punishmen for their failures.
  • Badass Cape: She's said to be stronger than the four Jailer Beasts combined and wears a large white cape.
  • Bare Your Midriff: There's hardly something of the midriff that is covered.
  • Blinding Bangs: Her long blonde hair covers her eyes.
  • Designated Girl Fight: Invoked by her opponent who, upon realizing he's facing a woman, uses his powers to switch gender.
  • Dominatrix: She gets so much sexually excited from the screams of others that she becomes a parody of it.
  • Fragile Speedster: She manages to dodges most of Ivankov's attacks while destroying the walls but, once she loses her weapon, she goes down quickly.
  • Horny Devil: Her stripperific outfit, which makes her look like a succubi, combined with her sadist and dominatrix-like personality gives off this vibe.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is, very fittingly, the short for "sadist".
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Her weapon is a pitchfork wich conceals a whip to combine both her succubi-appearance and her dominatrix personality.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a dominatrix wich wears a very skimpy devil outfit and gets sexually exited when she makes the others scream by whipping them.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Her Weapon Of Choice is a pitchfork, which conceals a whip, to go with her demonic appearance.
  • Smug Super: She refuse the marines help claiming Impel Down's staff is enough to catch Luffy. She's right, as Magellan capture and sends him to Level 5, but then he escapes along with some really strong prisoners...
  • Stripperiffic: Her outfit leave most of her skin exposed.
  • Unwilling Suspension: Ironically enough for a dominatrix, Ivankov defeats her and ties her to the ceiling with her own whip until Magellan rescues her.

  • Evil Is Sexy: Dakki in both the remake and manga version. Because of her fashion choice that sometimes using a skimpy costumes (While the original anime version isn't bad, she dressed a bit modest compared to her remake and manga fashion) and her alluring, easygoing attitude that could attract some people. However, deep down inside, she is a sadistic monster who manipulate King Chuou and enjoy the suffering of other people.

Some tropes

for Magellan

  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Parodied. Thanks to his devil fruit, he can eat poisonous food. However, they give him diarrea, so he's busy on the toilet most of the time.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: After the timeskip, he has a large scar on the left side of his
face, that he has probably received when all Impel Donw's prisoners escaped and attacked him.
  • Top-Heavy Guy: He's a large imposing man but his legs are really tiny.

for Hannyabal

  • Formerly Fit: Not that he was the epitome of fitness before but, after the timeskip, he has gotten much fatter.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: Aside of his Starscream tendencies, he's a guy willing to do anything to protect the innocents from the worst criminals.
  • Passing the Torch: Despite not liking how he wants to take his place, Magellan says that Hannyabal is the only one worhty to succeed him.

Tropes for Cabba

Adaptational Wimp: In the manga, Cabba has a less impressive performance in the tournament of power, eliminating fewer fighters than his anime counterpart. Also, he never attaining the Super Saiyan 2.

Heroic Sacrifice: Not a lethal one, in the manga, to prevent Berserker Kale from being eliminated, Cabba leaps off towards her and throwing her onto the arena and falling off in her place, not without first putting on her the Potara earring that allows the fusiĆ³n with Caulifla.

some tropes

for Magellan:

  • Almighty Janitor: After he's demoted to vice warden, even if it's the second highest rank, he's still by far the strongest of Impel Down's staff.
  • Horned Humanoid: Subverted. He has a pair of long horns that help giving him a demonic appearance, but they're actually fake.
  • My Greatest Failure: He's so broken after having failed to prevent the escape, that he has to be sedated to prevent him from commiting suicide and doesn't protest when he's demoted from chief warden.
  • Rank Up: Inverted. Because he couldn't prevent the mass escape, he goes from chief warden to vice-warden.

And for Domino

On of Impel Down's high officers. She's serious and strict, to the point of scolding Magellan, the chief warden, for spending too much time in the washroom.

She greets Hancock during her visit in the prison (actually a way for Luffy to sneak in) until she's petrified by her devil fruit power. After going back to normal, she doesn't remember being turned into stone and accomany Boa Hancock to Magellan's office.

During the timeskip, she's promoted to head jailer, left vacant after Shilew's arrest.

  • Absolute Cleavage: After the timeskip, she doesn't wear the shirt under the jacket, leaving her ample cleavage exposed.
  • Coat Cape: Wears one to indicate her promotion to head jailer.
  • Commissar Cap: Has one to complete her Nazi-eske uniform.
  • Cool Shades: Wears a pair of red-jaded glasses.
  • Failed a Spot Check: If she did a decent body search, she would've realized Luffy was hiding in Hancock's coat.
  • Informed Ability: To be a head jailer, she has to be one of the prison staff's strongest members, but she's never seen in action.
  • Meaningful Name: Domino comes from dominus, which refers to a person who has control over others, a fitting name for a high-ranked individual.
  • No Badass to His Valet: It doesn't matter if Magellan is the prison's highest authority and can kill her at any time if he wants to, she still scolds him for wasting too much time in the washroom.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: In a drawing of her when she was a kid, she's playing football.
  • Peek A Bangs: On top of wearing shades, her hair cover her right eye. She has this haircut since she was a kid.
  • Taken for Granite: Before she can spot Luffy, Boa Hancock turns her into stone with her Mero-Mero Fruit power. She gets back to normal but doesn't remember it.
  • Whip It Good: She's carries a whip, though she's never seen using it.

  • Cabba has a less impressive -> Cabba has a less than impressive
  • Also, he never attaining -> Also, he never attains
Not a lethal one. In the manga, to prevent Berserker Kale from being eliminated, Cabba leaps off towards her, <- comma and throws her into the arena and falls off in her place, while putting

The Heroic Sacrifice page says that the person making the sacrifice must be "killed, crippled, or maimed as a result." Since this doesn't happen in your example, it isn't an example of that trope.

It might be an example of Diving Save, though.

Almighty Janitor: After he's demoted to vice warden, even if it's the second highest rank, he's still by far the strongest of Impel Down's staff

Almighty Janitor is limited to characters who are "near the bottom of the scale in terms of rank." A vice warden who is the second highest rank doesn't count.

  • that help giving him -> that help give him
  • the escape, that he -> the escape <- no comma that he
  • commiting suicide and -> committing suicide, <- comma and
  • On of Impel Down's -> One of Impel Down's
  • and accomany Boa Hancock -> and accompanies Boa Hancock
During the timeskip <- no comma she's promoted to head jailer, a post left vacant after Shilew's arrest.
After the timeskip <- no comma she doesn't wear a shirt under her jacket
  • Nazi-eske -> Nazi-esque
  • red-jaded glasses. -> red-shaded glasses.
  • If she did -> If she had done
her hair covers her right eye. She has had this haircut

For One Stat to Rule Them All:

  • Dark Souls
    • Dexterity allows one to use various lightweight weapons proficiently, and some weapons, such as Quelaag's Furysword and Chaos Blade, solely depend on Dexterity and Humanities to be effective with little to no Strength investments. It also affects spellcasting spell starting from 35 Dex and caps at 45 Dex. A character with 45 Dex can cast sorcery 10% faster and pyromancy 20% faster, allowing mages to decimate their foes even quicker, leaving little to space for their enemies to escape from their barrage of spells. Simply push Dexterity into 45 or even further, and Strength would become redundant for any spellcaster with a pure Dex weapon.
