Good day. Is been a long time since I've been here, and I'll admit I created some pages without checking my english first. For that, I apologize, I shall send some of the pages just to see if they are alright.

Well, i'm working on a workpage for the book of Doña Barbara. The book was previously the trope namer for Evil Colonianist, and it has some examples in at least two trope pages, so I though: "hey, why don't I create a workpage?"

So, i've been reading it, and working through the page. Is a bit long, so I'll understand if you guys don't correct every mistake. I'll publish it on the next post.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

"Killing the centaur! Don't be a fool, Santos Luzardo! You think that about the centaur is pure rethoric? I can assure you it exist. I heard it neight. Every night comes around here. And not only here; There, in Caracas, too. And even further yet. Anywhere one of us go, us with the Luzardo blood, can hear the centaur. You heard it too, and that's why you're here. Who said is possible to kill the centaur? Me? Spit on my face, Santos Luzardo. The centaur is a enthelechy. One hundred years has been galloping in this land, and will remain for another hundred. I believed myself to be a civilized man, the first of my family, but it changed when they told me "come to avenge your father" for the barbarian to return to me. The same happened to you; you heard the call. I will see you on her arms and go mad for a caress of hers. The devourer of men!"
Lorenzo Barquero

Doña Barbara is a 1929 novel by Venezuelan author Rómulo Gallegos. Its the story of Santos Luzardo, a man who is returning to his native land of Altamira, which has been taken over by the woman known as Doña Barbara, an infamous woman of a dreadful reputation who has renamed the place as El Miedo. There, he will try to recover the place by legal means while his friends try to tell him to kill Doña Barbara and be a man.

Santos Luzardo, on his way, meets Marisela, the daughter of Doña Barbara and Lorenzo Barquero,Luzardo's cousing who was his idol and main inspiration when he was a kid, but has been corrupted by the devourer of men who turned him into an drinker, and took his lands. Marisela, who has only been raised by a dumb worker from the Doña, is taken by Santos in an attempt to educate her.

Doña Barbara is a story of Barbarism versus Civilization, inspired by the sociopolitical situation of Venezuela under the regime of Dictator Juan Vicente Gomez. Despite being an allegorical criticism of Gomez goverment, the General liked the book and gave his blessing. In fact, the book gave its author a good reputation among the people of Venezuela, and was a factor in him becoming president in 1948... before being taken out by another dictator nine months later, Marco Perez Jimenez.

The book was adapted to a mexican movie in 1943, with actress Maria Felix playing the titular character, with author Rómulo Gallegos helping with the script. It has also been adapted in many telenovelas in both Venezuela and Mexico.

The novel briefly became infamous due to Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez calling then President George W. Bush "Mister Danger", like a character from the book, who was an Evil Colonialist.

This work provides examples of:

  • Antagonist Title: Doña Barbara is both the title of the book and the name of the main antagonist.
  • Book Dumb: The people of the Venezuelan fratlands are shown to be quite ignorant, prone to malapropers, and superstitious, which is actually Truth in Television, due to the education of Venezuela outside of Caracas not being very good during those days. Juan Primito hardly speaks well, and Marisela before being taken by Santos was more like a feral child.
  • Central Theme: Civilization overcoming barbarism. The words of Lorenzo Barquero define this. "It is necesary to kill the centaur that all of us, the people of the fratlands, have".
  • Cattle Baron: Doña Bárbara is the Latin American (in fact, Venezuelan) take on this trope, and a female one, to boot.
    • In fact, whenever wealthy people from "El Llano" (the Venezuelan flatlands) appear in Telenovelas they tend not only to represent this trope, but reference Doña Bárbara in a way or another.
  • The Dreaded: Doña Barbara is feared in all the region, with the population making stories about her and how she obtained her fortune. It helps she had allies in dangerous criminals like the Mondragons, knew all sort of sorcery, learned from the indigenous population, and believed to be talking with some sort of spirit which she called "partner" (El Socio).
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Lorenzo Barquero, who is a shadow of his former self, became an heavy drinker due to Doña Barbara influence. Mister Danger, knowing of his misfortune, gives him more and more drinks, because it amuses him.
Mister Danger: He is beyond repair, doctor. Leave him end his own misery. He doesn't want to live. He is still in love with Barbarita''. Terribly so, and he drinks and drinks to forget her. I told him many times: "Don Lorenzo, you're killing yourself". But he doesn't want to listen, and doesn't take the drink out of his mouth.
  • Evil Colonialist: The racist, drunken, Egomaniac Hunter Míster Danger from Doña Bárbara. While Bárbara, the main villain of the book, has a Freudian Excuse for her actions, he enjoys his horrible acts just because he's bored. By the end of the book, when he realizes that now he Can't Get Away with Nuthin', he just flees away from the place. As a matter of trivia, the trope was named after the character previously.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Mister Danger presents himself as a nice guy, but is racist, gives Lorenzo more alcohol despite his status, and attempted to rape Marisela.
  • Feuding Families: The family of the Luzardo and the Barqueros, while from the same bloodline (being cousins), fought over the control of Altamira for the sake its name, with the Luzardo brand wanting it to kept it as "Altamira", while the Barqueros wanted it to be renamed as "La Barquereña". This brought conflict into members of both families, and by the time Santos Luzardo was eight years old, his father killed his son and then committed suicide over this. Santos and Lorenzo are the last of their families. Santos doesn't want this family discord anymore, and tried to convince Lorenzo Barquero, who is a shadow of his former self and found baffling that "a Luzardo is in the house of a Barquero", to accept his friendship.
: Santos Luzardo: ''I'm Santos Luzardo, and I come to offer my friendship.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Minor character Maria Nieves, who despite the name, is a dude. The character is based on a man of the same name the author knew from his travels through the country.
  • Gratuitous English: Mister Danger, being an Evil Colonialist writen by a latin american writer, employ english words among his phrases from time to time.
: Mister Danger: ¡All right! Ya soy en casa.
  • In-Series Nickname: Doña Barbara is known through some nicknames due to her reputation, which includes "La cacica de Arauca" (Arauca's chief), "La devoradora de hombres" (The devourer of men), among others. Mister Danger also affectionaly calls her "Barbarita".
  • The Lost Lenore: Gender inverted example in Asdrubal, Doña Barbara first love. She still misses him, and sometimes projects him on many of her lovers, but the illusion breaks down after a while.
  • Malaproper: Many of the fratlands residents hardly speak well, with old man Menesio using words like "haiga" and "juera" during his sentences, instead of "haga" and "fuera".
  • Posthumous Character: Some characters in the tale are very important to the core motivation of the main protagonists, but they have been dead for decades.
    • Asdrubal was a poor guy who wanted to go to Manaos, and offered his service to "Taita", Doña Barbara caretaker. He teached her how to read and write, and was her first love. One day, however, he was killed by the three men who later raped Barbara. That was 25 years before the events of the book, but Doña Barbara still has a strong memory of him.
  • Slobs Versus Snobs: The conflict of the story is about Civilization, represented in Santos Luzardo (A man who leaved the fratlands behind and went to study to the city of Caracas as a lawyer) and Barbarism, represented in Doña Barbara, a woman who uses sorcery, seductions and controls through fear Altamira, which she renamed "El Miedo" (The Fear). Likewise, Santos Luzardo has to deal with her through the law, avoiding the way everyone on the population fell to the "ley del llano" (law of the llano), which meant honor-killing.
  • Spanish American War: The war is briefly touched on the Luzardos family backstory, where many members went on to serve to both The United States and Spain. Santos father was an avid supporter of Spain, and was devastated after its defeat.
  • Rape as Backstory: Doña Barbara was raped when she was a child, after her first love was killed by the three pirates who abused her. This give Doña Barbara some pity points, despite how "evil" she is.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Doña Barbara, the main antagonist of the book, was raped when she was a child by three men after her boyfriend was killed by the then. Mister Danger then tries to rape poor Marisela, but is stopped.

The prescribed time by law passed for Marisela to enter in holding of her mother's inheritance, of whom no news have been heard, and begone from the Arauca is the name of The Fear, and Altamira returns to be once more.

Thanks in advanced!

Thank you, I shall create the page in a while, and don't worry, I know is illegal, I'm still reading the work to add the father of Luzardo, whose death is crucial to the events of the story.

From Little Sister Heroine. Good evening. I apologize for such a volume of text, I just decided that it's better to straighten out the whole text I added, than to wear it here in pieces.

If the relationship remain incestuous, the sister usually completely takes the initiative, in order to allow the author to save the main character from the moral responsibility, and use thematic fanservice in the work. Thus, in the majority of plot, concentrating on the incestuous relationship with the little sister, sister takes an active role throughout the story seducing his brother, while "protecting" him from all the other girls. If we are talking about siblings with little difference in age or Half-Identical Twins, then the children's traits tend to be less pronounced towards greater borrowing by Childhood Friend Romance tropes

In this regard, it should also be noted that, similar to such plots, the MC and his sister will in most cases be represented by a kind of duet, because of which the surrounding will mistakenly take them for twins even in the absence of kinship or the presence of a difference in age. But this trope works only if the imouto-line is central in this work.

It may include elements of him needing to protect her, a fear that that someone else might hurt her, break her heart, or that other guys just aren't good enough for her. It also is related to the idea that this sibling is theirs, and they don't want someone else to 'steal' them. In this regard, a great many little sister heroines feel aversion to all other men except her brother, that must to emphasize their level is dedicated to him. In other cases, it may also mean that a outsider guy can become a couple with little sister only if he can be equal to or better than her brother, what is often used for harmless resolution romantic tension between brother and sister.

From The Beguiled.

  • Values Dissonance: The original novel and the first film can very easily be regarded as offensive to women, portraying them as very insidious and spiteful, including those who are ready to cripple or even kill a male for showing interest in another girl. And that's not to mention the fact that the first film supports an offensive stereotype that people in the southern states are incestuous Lovable Sex Maniac. The second film basically averted it, being pro-feminist.

Alright, since everything else has been too outside of the scope of this...

Values Resonance

  • Team Fortress 2 can be viewed as this, if the your definition of values is broad enough to include the ideals of what a video game fun and enjoyable. Since the game spent over a decade in development and originated from a mod from the 90s, the game uses conventions typical of first person shooters in the era it was conceived but nearly extinct when it was released. These "outdated" features like a rigid diverse class base, completely sacrificing any sense of realism for the sake of game play, the lack of regenerating health, and weapons being locked to the player rather than spawn points on the map ironically make the game feel like a breath of fresh air in an era where first person shooters were trying as hard as they could to copy the same model. Combined with the newer elements it brought to the table, it effectively popularised the Hero Shooter subgenre.

Hello again. I worked on this article for months, and never checked if the english was fine. I'm going to post the article here to see if anything is alright.

Thank you so much in advance.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/my_best_friend_mernao.jpg
A friendship made in Inferni

My Best Friend Marneao, is a weekly webcomic written and illustrated by El Autor of Sea Snail Studio, hosted on Webtoons. It started to be published on July, 2016,

Life was pretty lonely for Jacob, a nerdy guy who wanted to have a best friend to hang out with, see his favorite shows, read his favorite manga like Yowamushi Pedal, watch Youtube channels, you know, the usual stuff. So he decided to sell his soul to find the perfect friend! And not just any friend: the son of Lucifer himself, Marnaeo.

Jacob and Marnaeo become the best of friends in a flash, hanging out and having the best days ever!... except by going to Earth, Marneao broke a lot of laws that made the Right Hand of God, Baraquiel, really angry, who made Lucifer send demons to take his son back. Marneao will have to fight against demons in order to stay with his Best Friend.

My Best Friend Marneao is El Autor fourth series after Salvatore, Adam, and T.Kin Ball, and the first to be published in english. Is a Fighting Series inspired by Shonen Jump works, and Lighter and Softer than his previous works which were either darkly comedic or pretty graphic.

You can start reading here.

My Best Friend Marneao provides examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Miltch is the protagonist of chapter 46, "A Tale of Inferni II", where he listens to a victim of Cavagnaro and Fleites destruction through his problems in his final moments, and to bring another light on how Hell is suffering because of both The Angelinato and The Revolution.
  • Acrofatic: The webcomic have really big fighters among their characters, with Fleites and Gabriel being pretty destructive and fast.
  • Air Jousting: The demons are able to fly, and the battle of Marneao against Nagore and Giancarlo take place in the sky.
  • The Armies of Heaven: The Angelinato, armored-looking soldier angels who fight against abominations, but also have Inferni under their command.
  • Ambition Is Evil: According to Marneao, after the previous God died, his succesor (the current God) started to become more hungry for power, and decided to explore and conquer other places in the universe. He made the demons build portals like if they were slaves, and force them to use a weird substance that could turn them into mindless monsters.
  • Author Appeal: El Autor ''really'' likes Yowapeda, but also to give Shout Outs to many of his favorite works.
  • Big Bad: Baraquiel. Once Marneao goes to the human world, is him who demands Lucifer to either retrieve him back or to kill him. He is, however, only the Right Hand of God, though, making God's successor to be the Bigger Bad, responsible for how hellish the setting is.
  • Black Speech: The Inferni characters talk with this trope in mind. It doesn't seem to have any side effect for the humans, they just think is a weird language. Marneao convinces the kids at school they are speaking canadian.
  • The Cameo: Dante Cavagnaro, one of the protagonist of Sea Snail Studio previous work, Salvatore, appears as a Inferni Citizen in chapter 28.
  • Deal with the Devil: Jacob sells his soul in order to gain a best friend, and he gains it in the form of Marneao, the son of the Lucifer. When a human sell their souls, the demon that accept the deal is bound by contract to give the human whatever it asked. Jacob became sad to hear this, thinking none of the fun they had was for real... and then it reveals Marneao never accepted his soul because no demon would accept Jacob' request, and simply escaped from home.
Marneao: I'm not bound by any contract because there never was one! I'm having fun with Jacob because I want to have fun with him!
  • The Devil Is a Loser: Lucifer may be king of Hell, but he is constantly abused by his superior, the Angel Baraquiel. Poor devil had it rough.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Baraquiel is introduced in chapter 4 in a bad mood, insulting the living crap out of Lucifer and telling him to solve the fact his kid is on Earth, even if he has to kill him. Lucifer then asks if God would kill his own son.
    Baraquiel: Yes
    Lucifer:That was a rethorical question.
    Baraquiel: No, it wasn't.
  • Fake Memories: Marneao, with a bit of Reality Warper powers, managed to make everyone think he is Jacob brother, who was studying in Canada. One of the students who remembered Jacob being a single child suddenly "remembered" him having a brother. He also erased his friends memories once they were attacked by Giancarlo, so they don't know the truth about him. After Marneao is taken by the Angelinato after Lucifer's death, everyone forgets about Marneao except for his friends, due to Giancarlo' incident.
  • Fighting Series
  • Flight: The demons have shown to be able to fly. The battle between Marnaeo and the Plasma Demon woundn't look strange in Dragon Ball Z or Man of Steel.
  • Foreshadowing: In chapter 12 and 13, Lucifer mentions that demon soldiers can go berserk if they are angry enough, and they put Inferni life in danger if that's the case. Come chapter 31 and we see what Lucifer was talking about with the Berserker mode Fletes goes through to destroy the Dungeon Keeper, almost defeating him. Likewise, Marneao copies this ability on chapter 33, scaring his old master while fighting for once.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: "¡Viva la revolución!"
  • God Is Dead: According to Marnaeo, God died 500 years ago after the alliance between the Inferni and the Angelinato, and was succeeded by an unknown angel.
  • Gonk: Amy twin sister. Amy wished she was as beautiful as her.
  • Holographic Disguise: Similar to Nightcrawler, Marnaeo can hide his true form with a human equivalent. So do other demons, causing him trouble.
  • Hell of a Heaven: Since the new God took over, Heaven has been nothing but an elitist city where almost no one enters, that is constantly being attacked by Abominations. Inferni, by comparison, is not that bad, with many residents taking a second chance to "live", so to speak, their life.
  • A Hell of a Time: Inferni is presented as a land of opportunity, where humans can live a happy and reproductive life. Is not presented as glamorous, though, since Inferni hasn't been prosperous for a long time due to Heaven interference, and are victims of the Revolution' collateral damage.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Implied, in a conversation.
Marneao: And then he said "Wut? What the hell is going on!"
  • Interspecies Romance: According to Miltch, humans and demons can marry in hell. Is possible Marneao is born from one of this, considering Lucifer status as a Fallen Angel.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: This is what starts the plot, other than the Deal with the Devil of course.
    • Jacob wanted a best friend. While he lacked the Friendless Background Marneao has, he never talked much with anyone, fearing they would like different things. Once him and Marn hang out, both of them get more friends, and they later learned that is better if your friends like others stuff, since its like they get complemented by their different tastes.
    • Marnaeo was a lonely kid in Hell, with no one to play with. He was fully glad to know of a kid with similar tastes to him in the form of Jacob. He then gains more friends in the human world.
  • Jerkass: Baraquiel, the comic Big Bad, is a angel that scares the living crap out of demons and angels alike, and a complete utter asshole that doesn't care about anyone or anything, constantly screaming or making others scream for him, not giving a rat's ass about the death of his comrades in battle, treating the demons like slaves, and hating modesty, thinking is for losers.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Marnaeo could hold his own against two demons three times his size despite having the body of a kid. Probably justified, due to being the prince of demons.
  • Naked First Impression: After being summoned by Jacob, Marneao appeared in his room completely naked. He hugged Jacob at that moment. Jacob was speechless.
  • Our Angels Are Different: The Angelinato. The angels are presented as armored looking humanoids, with some of them having a giraffe looking face.
  • Our Demons Are Different: The Inferni citizens. The demons in the comic are horned humanoid monsters, with sharp teeths and red eyes, while other Inferni residents like Marneao, Lucifer and Miltch are human looking red devils with the classical horns and tail.
  • Painting the Medium: The Inferni citizens names and language are referred in Black Speech, always, and the Angelinato cast are always referred by an special font. The Inferni characters names, or a close equivalent as Miltch once said, are revealed by the author after the arc where the demon is presented ends, or at the end of the same chapter they first appear, as an omake.
  • Parents as People: Lucifer is shown as a good parent to Marnaeo, but he has to work and constantly takes crap from his superior, Baraquiel.
  • Precision F-Strike: Baraquiel constantly does this, especially when he is in a bad mood. Which is always.
  • La Résistance: Called, who knew it, "The revolution". Formed around 100 years ago, they are a band of demons fighting against both the Angelinato and the Inferni agents. Due to Marnaeo going to Earth, breaking a law between the two factions, the rebels started to use his face on their flags. They are not good guys, as they are responsible for killing innocent bystanders on Inferni and Heaven.
  • Reused Character Design: Many of the demons designs were previously used in Sea Snail Studio's other work, Salvatore. According to El Autor in his twitter, they are actors, similar to Tezuka's famous star system. For more information, see the characters section.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Uriel. He dies in the same chapter he is introduced.
  • Shout-Out: To a few shows and memes.
    • Jeffrey's shirt text in chapter 38 is a reference to Osomatsu-san.
    • In chapter 40, Marneao compares Cavagnaro's aspect to earthbending. This is a reference to Avatar: The Last Airbender.
    • Jeffrey's shirt in chapter 59 is a reference to Haikyuu!!
    • The tittle of "A tale of inferni" is a reference to A Tale of Two Cities
  • Token Minority: Matt, from the group of friends of Jacob and Marneao, is is black kid in an otherwise all-white human cast.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

Is it scientifically accurate to say that something evolved to mean that something became better, stronger, superior or just generally more powerful outside of Biological Science context?

For exemple, Is it correct to say that computer technology evolved greatly to mean that they are now superior or better than they used to be?

Related to my post above. What got me confused was this. I copied it from the dictionary i got it from.

"a gradual development, esp to a more complex form"

I thought evolution has nothing to do with making something more complex? It is about survival. complexity isn't necessarily needed to survive.

"an unfolding, opening out, or working out; process of development, as from a simple to a complex form, or of gradual, progressive change, as in a social and economic structure"

Progress means become better right? But evolution doesn't make a species better.

"the development of a species, organism, or organ from its original or primitive state to its present or specialized state"

Again, From what i know, evolution has nothing to do with making something go from primitive to specialized. It simply makes it survive.

Are all of these defination correct and i am missing something?

[up] [up] [up]Thank you, and i'm glad i'm not to blame for the problems o the Shout outs part. That's El Autor to blame, he is aware of the page.

I'll fix everything later, but I will have to algo give you the characters subpage since that is the one I mostly edit, so there will be a lot of grammar mistakes. [up]

From Naruto in team seven section: I Work Alone: At times, each members believes that certain situations are only for them to resolve, which has led to some mixed results.

In Sakura's section:

Too Much Alike: With Naruto when given enough thought. At their respective cores, their both Hot-Blooded and a incorrigible thirst for acknowledgement. Both hate being useless, particularity when it comes to Sasuke. They also have a slight fear of each others' reactions, which has lead to keeping certain info from each other. They also tend to believe that they got to recklessly face things alone instead of working together, despite their attempts to do the vice-versa.

Suggestions?

This is for Reito Igaguri/Ultraman Zero's character folder for Ultraman Geed's character page:

  • Deuteragonist: While in previous series, movies and spin-off he's either a main character or a guest star, in this series he takes the Deuteragonist role to Geed as The Lancer.
