This thread is for tropers who have trouble with English and would like some help with the crazy grammar of this crazy language.

Write down what you wish to edit on the wiki. If you have been suspended from editing, another troper might be kind enough to edit for you after your suggestions have been corrected.

The thread is for help and feedback on your own suggested edits.

If you want help correcting other people's edits (e.g., if you find a page which seems to have grammar problems but want a second opinion, or you don't feel able to fix it by yourself) then that's off-topic here, but we have a separate Grammar Police cleanup thread that can provide assistance.

Here are tropes for the Scream fic on Archive of Our Own, Survival: Return to Hell, a fic where Sidney and Kirby are a married couple.

• Adaptational Nice Guy: In Scream 5, Amber Freeman was Tara's friend who was one of the Ghostface killers, but in this story, she is Tara's girlfriend who asks for Sidney, Kirby and Trevor's help to stop Ghostface, who just like in the film, attacked Tara.

• Adaptational Villainy: Unlike in the movie, Sam Carpenter is one of the Ghostface killers.

• Death by Adaptation: In the fifth movie, Chad survives being stabbed outside Amber's house. In this story, he dies from being stabbed multiple times.

• Dies Differently in Adaptation:

° Both Judy and Wes are shot dead after being tied up and Sidney witnesses this happen, instead of Judy being killed while running to the house to save Wes, and Wes is stabbed in the neck afterwards like they were in the movie.

° While Dewey dies trying to save Tara from Ghostface, he is shot four times after telling Sidney (who in this version is there to save Tara as well) to go in the elevator with Tara.

° In Scream 5, Richie is stabbed 22 times, has his throat slit and is shot in the head by Sam. In this story, he is stabbed multiple times by Sidney.

• Parental Abandonment: When Tara thanks Sidney for saving her and some of her friends' lives, Amber says to Sidney that Tara thinks of her as the mother she always wanted because her mother Christina bailed on her when she turned eighteen.

• Spared by Adaptation:

° Because she isn't Ghostface like she was in the film, Amber survives the story instead of being shot in the head after being burned from landing face first on the burner on the cooker.

° Instead of being shot in the head by Amber like in the film, Liv survives getting shot in the head by Richie when Sidney pushes her out of the way.

  • Shrek Swamp Kart Speedway is a GBA kart racer, and one of the worst games in the franchise. A kart racer in the vein of Mario Kart: Super Circuit, it lacks any vibrant graphics or tight presentation, with ugly tracks, uncanny sprites, and ear breaking music with broken medleys while not capturing the feel of the source media, only doing the bare minimum with the roster. Full of problems in the gameplay, it's too fast and slippery for players to control properly mainly in turns, obscures obstacles by grounding them so it can't be seen till it's too late, items that aren't coded properly, negative effects that aren't explained, AI that can be lapped easily, and broken clipping that can take you off the race. Sqaishey Quack played it and commend that it "tried" while commenting it hurts to play, and Retro Wars claimed it was a bottom of the barrel game.

Is this good?

Here is exactly what I am saying:

The box at the top of this page says:

"If you want help correcting other people's edits (e.g., if you find a page which seems to have grammar problems but want a second opinion, or you don't feel able to fix it by yourself) then that's off-topic here, but we have a separate Grammar Police cleanup thread that can provide assistance."

Your post asked me to help you correct someone else's edits on that page, which is contrary to this thread's policies.

It also goes against my personal policy of not correcting text that's already on TV Tropes, for the reasons I stated.

I will only correct your own work that is completely new to TV Tropes.

I literally can't say it any clearer than that.

YMMV.Thomas And Friends:

  • Fan-Preferred Cut Content: Upon the release of the 1983 pilot, many fans feel the pilot has a far better depiction of Thomas' crash into the mine than in the final "Down the Mine" episode, thanks to having more build up to the crash (as there is a Deleted Scene of the ballast collapsing prior) and the crash itself being more dynamic and realistic than in the final episode.

[awesome]Thanks Arivne

@ Star Wars: Wayseeker

  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The family of Nilsson Summach is only mentioned, and without much exploration of how big the younger generation is. Seeing how large that family is and what views the others have about the works and attitudes of his grandmother (who may or may not have other descendants in the likely-large family, given how many wives her son-in-law Kolin Summach has) that Nilsson is continuing could have been interesting. The absence of Kolin is especially notable given his past exploits and how he is never mentioned as an active participant in the arms-dealing plot (and would have less personal stake as a mere Chekkat in-law) but his presidential guards are shown to be protecting Nilsson when the Jedi visit Pinara.

@ Better Call Saul

  • The specific Los Pollos Hermanos security guards who moonlight as enforcers for Gus and are targeted by Walter and Lydia for knowing too much in season 5 of the parent show never do get to appear here, when at least a couple of them doing so could have established more feeling behind how protective of them Mike is in that show.

@ Final Destination Bloodlines

  • Fanon Discontinuity: Within hours of the first showing of the full movie, there were a lot of internet comments criticizing the resolution of the hospital scene and/or everything after it due to that being the point where the characters the audience really cares about the most start dying, the deaths after the hospital scene being considered underwhelming by many, and the logic behind why Death is still able to go after Erik, Charlie, and Stefani seeming like a frustratingly inconsistent cop-out.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Giving Bludworth a family of his own could have been used to raise more points of commonality between him and the Campbell-Reyes family and made him especially motivated in breaking the tower disaster chain of Death before it reached his loved ones.

@ Tom Swift

@ The Canterville Ghost (1944)
  • Audience-Coloring Adaptation: Sir Simon being related to at least one of his American visitors was invented for this film, but adaptations since have found it to be a handy way to justify the Otis Family (who are Adapted Out of this film) moving to Canterville Chase in the first place and/or to give Ginny more investment in helping Sir Simon move on.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Simon’s terrifyingly abusive and honor-obsessed father and burly rival duelist Bold Sir Guy only appear in the prologue, but give performances as well-remembered as some of the main cast.
@ The Canterville Ghost (1996)
  • Audience-Coloring Adaptation: Mr. Otis getting an Adaptational Job Change to a scientist works well to contrast his modern beliefs and attitudes with those of Sir Simon, a ghost from an less-developed period but one with a more romantic reputation, and most subsequent adaptations have also made Mr. Otis a scientist or inventor.

Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl

Aaron

  • Chick Magnet: At Aaron's public practice session, a crowd of enthusiastic supporters gathered, among them Jenny and Dawn, who were just two of the many female fans present.
  • Prone to Tears: As a child, Aaron was quite sensitive and often brought to tears easily, and he wasn't much of a skilled Pokemon battler either.
  • My God, What Have I Done??: Aaron shared a story from his younger days when he was quite the sore loser. In a moment of frustration, he scolded his Wurmple for being weak and ran off in tears, leaving it behind. By the time he realized his mistake and returned for it, the Wurmple was nowhere to be found. To this day, he deeply regrets his actions and the bond he lost.
  • Sore Loser: Aaron often broke down in tears at the slightest hint of defeat when he was younger. After losing a battle with his Wurmple, he would harshly scold it, which ultimately led to losing the Pokémon altogether. Now, reflecting on those moments, Aaron feels a deep regret for how he treated his companion.

Pokemon S 11 E 47 A Trainer And Child Reunion

  • Call-Back: Aaron is unveiled as the challenger that Cynthia spoke about needing to face soon in an upcoming title match back in Celstic Town.

Pokemon S 11 E 48 Aiding The Enemy

  • Hope Spot: Ash and Dawn reflect on how Aaron's return of his Beautifly in the last episode raised his hopes too high regarding his chances of defeating Cynthia.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2023)

The Lafayette Family

In General

  • The Power of Family: When it comes to Lunella, the beloved daughter of the Lafayettes, they would go to any lengths to protect her, even if it means facing off against a raging Molecule Man fueled by deadly intent in “The Molecular Level.” Their unwavering love for her knows no bounds, embracing every facet of her life, including her Moon Girl identity, in due time.

    • Self-Imposed Exile: Although he already isolated himself to the middle of nowhere, John Dory further exile himself in order to protect his remaining brothers, believing that he failed as the oldest sibling for letting something bad happen to Branch after he went back home to find him. It takes finding out that Branch is alive and Floyd getting kidnapped for John Dory to leave his exile.

Here are some more tropes for the Scream fic, Survival: Return to Hell.

• Awful Wedded Life: Throughout the story, Sidney and Kirby (who are married in this story) argue a lot for different reasons (one reason being that Kirby thinks that Sidney is cheating on her). Wes brings it up when he explains why he suspects Sidney of being the killer.

• Mistaken for Cheating: When Kirby calls Sidney (who is visiting Dewey), she is suspicious when Liv, who is there with Sidney after they met at the cemetery where Sidney visited her friend Tatum's grave, calls out to Dewey and Kirby asks who that is, which makes Sidney suspect that Kirby thinks that she is cheating on her.

@ Final Destination 2

  • Franchise Original Sin: The deaths of Clear and Alex in this movie marked every survivor of a disaster being wiped out. While that filmmaking decision was far from universally-loved, it is mitigated by Kim and Burke surviving for a Bittersweet Ending because of new life (which would have probably never been extendable to Clear as a survivor of a separate disaster in the last movie), Clear and Alex at least not dying in the movie they debut in and are the focus of (keeping it from being too depressing as a standalone watch and let Clear get neat Character Development), and Clear having some Death Seeker elements in deleted scenes that make her fate hurt a bit less. Subsequent sequels become even more impatient about denying survivors a fair chance, to the depression and/or outrage of fans who like the characters or are just sick of how predictable the escalating Downer Endings are.
    • The third film [[spoiler:has a haunting Bolivian Army Ending for the last survivors (including franchise MVP Wendy) and the fourth film ends with an even less ambiguous wiping out of the last survivors.
    • The fifth and sixth films go a step further by each having a character who was never on Death’s list die for gratuitous angst while also killing characters who could have or even should have survived through the loopholes Bloodworth begins introducing in this film but still die after a Hope Spot, without even a token attempt at justifying this in the former film.

@ WMG Bloodlines

Erik is targeted at the hospital not for helping Bobby, but because he would have died as a child in poor foster care conditions if Howard and Brenda had never adopted him and so his continued existence is still because of Iris living to give birth to Howard.

@ Sinners

  • Emotionless Girl: Lisa is dry and matter-of-fact while doing business, exchanging pleasantries with her parents, seeing an old friend, and even hearing a shooting nearby.
@ Sinners
  • The other string musicians helping play Pale Moon could have at least gotten to interact with their fellow musicians off-stage for a few lines of dialogue.
@ Star Wars – Boba Fett
  • Nature Is Not Nice: When Boba tries to free aquatic mice Jango told him to feed to Jango’s pet eel, they are crushed by the waves or eaten by ocean predators, as is the eel itself when Jango callously discards it before fleeing Kamino.
  • Perspective Flip: The first half of the first book retells Episode II from Boba’s perspective (including revealing he alerted one of the guards seen spotting Obi-Wan and summing Droidekas) with interludes and flashbacks showing some Used to Be a Sweet Kid moments that balance out his Enfant Terrible ones.
  • The Voice: Kamino librarian Whrr often speaks to Boba from behind a closed gate in the first book and is friends with him, but they never meet face to face, leaving Boba to speculate Whrr is probably a droid or at least a cyborg due to his tinny voice and the sound of moving parts.

@ Star Wars Empire

  • A Father to His Men: In his first arc he is fine helping his men with manual labor or engaging in risky Hold the Line maneuvers for them.
  • Death by Secret Identity: They try to arrest Leia a year before she is canonically exposed as a Rebel and indeed die as a result.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Spilik muses at the tactical weakness of the Rebels delaying their charge when they did so partially to mourn and protect a dying leader and also get Leia to safety.
  • Fearless Fool: A gloating Karg stays behind to try and capture Leia and Mia while the rest of his soldiers flee from heavy gunfire, but this seems to be mainly born from arrogance blinding him to the danger and he is quite frightened and upset after being mortally wounded due to not retreating.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Spilik is the junior officer but is much more capable as a warrior and leader.
  • Lean and Mean: The trim Karg relishes having Rebels at his mercy, while the burly Spilik is more of a Punch-Clock Villain.
  • Villain Has a Point: Karg has some serious authoritarian moments during his arrest of Leia and Mia, but is right to be dismissive of the claims Leia is merely stopping by Kattada to have her ship refueled when she and the president are hanging out at a beach far from the spaceport.
  • Miss Kitty: Ember is introduced owning a brothel and is on the darker end of the scale, slapping a girl for missing work and being willing to buy a woman who sells herself into slavery to provide for her son. Even after Dass repeatedly saves her life, she is still planning to start that racket over again at first before a Break the Haughty castaway experience pushes her closer toward a High-Heel–Face Turn. She has some That Man Is Dead I Hate Past Me feelings by her last appearance.
  • Team Mom: She keeps most of the group cooperating with each other in an affectionate way.

A water taxi operator who becomes an assistant of Dass Jennir during his trip to Telerath.

  • Cool Old Guy: He is a friendly and reliable guide who eventually rescues Dass from being eaten by an eel, nurses him back to health, and refuses to talk while being flogged.
  • Expy: His arc is based on A Fistful of Dollars and he fills plot and character roles of both Silvitano and Piripero.
  • Mr. Exposition: He tells Dass about the gangs and economy of Telerath and later about what happened in the gang war while Dass was healing.
