Thanks

@ Forever Knight

  • The Enforcers only appear in one episode and have no dialogue, but their chilling and lethal but not unreasonable approach to their Cleanup Crew job make the duo fan favorites.

@ Van Buren

He pledges his support to Jackson during a backroom meeting discussing removing the Indian tribes from their land.

@ Proud Warrior Rqce Guy

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Rostov and his men are incredible riders and fighters who take pride in never drawing their sabers without shedding blood, to the point where they nick themselves on the arm whenever their enemies back down peacefully.

@ Embarrassing First Name

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: When the port authorities insist on having the cowboys recite and explain their full legal names, it turns out Crab is named Jehovah, Dixie got his name from being christened Dick. C., Purse is a nickname for Percival, Link is short for Lincoln, Slim is named Leroy, and Mushy is using his actual given name, all of which they find embarrassing. Levi, while using his real first name, is also embarrassed by having to explain the context behind it (he was named after a pair of jeans).

@ Byronic Hero (does this feel like the right trope for the description)

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Shad Northshield is A Father to His Men, sentimental deep down, courageous to a fault, and can rival the best tracker, horseman, fighter, and thinker in his band at their areas of expertise. He is also a recklessly proud, stubborn, and temperamental man who is not at all graceful about being a Fish out of Water after being hired to do a cattle drive in Siberia.

@ Rugged Scar

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Sergeant Nikolai Razin is so proud of the deep battle scar running all the way down the left side of his face that he only grows his beard on the right side to keep from covering the scar up.

@ Savage Wolves

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: The Montana cowboys are shaken by their first encounter with Siberian wolves, which are bigger and far more aggressive than their American counterparts, continuing to charge and bite in the face of gunfire until barely any are left. However, once the pack of approximately thirty wolves is reduced to just the alpha, one mate, and one pup, they get more of an underdog Noble Wolf vibe, and the alpha becomes a literal Papa Wolf to the others, to the point where no one ultimately has the heart to kill the rest of the pack.

@ Badass Native

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: The skill Sioux cowhand Chakko displays shooting arrows from different angles on a moving horse hints at a man who could be a lot tougher and scarier than he lets himself be during the story.

@ Chekhov's Gunman

  • Someone to Watch Over Me: Early on, the detectives guarding Claire share an elevator with a tracksuit-wearing tenant at her apartment who likes evening jogs and carries a towel. Later, a hitman ambushes and probably kills that tenant and gets into the building by wearing his tracksuit and pretending to blow his nose with the towel as he passes the doorman.

@ Turn in Your Badge

  • Someone to Watch Over Me: After Keegan's affair with the witness he is guarding is exposed and indirectly leads to the hospitalization of another detective, Da Chief suspends him from the force pending an investigation, although he is summoned back after his family is taken hostage.

@ Ax-Crazy

  • Someone to Watch Over Me: Mafioso Joey Venza murders his associate Winn Hockings in an argument that starts because Venza is offended that Hockings didn't come to him to borrow money for a new business and goes on to use threats, assassins, and hostage situations to try and get at the witness to Winn's murder.

@ Taking the Kids

  • Someone to Watch Over Me: After learning that Mike had an affair, Ellie makes it clear that they are separating and their son is staying with her, telling Mike not to come back just for their son or his career, but only if he really loves her.

@ Violently Protective Girlfriend

  • Gnome Man's Land: In Harpy High, the prom dates most of the mythological hero spirits secure (the pep squad and Trekkie "Crazy" Nadine Dunlop) are more for convenience to get into the prom and stop Bambi Yaga's evil plan than out of serious or preexisting romantic passion. Still, they get along alright and once the fight begins, Tim notes that no self-respecting girl at his school wouldn't stand by her date in a fight. Sure enough, the cheerleaders make a pyramid to attack the flying harpies, and Nadine goes at a trio of goblins with her artificial nails and a punch bowl.

@ Death by Materialism

  • Gnome Man's Land: In Harpy High, the fleeing Big Bad would have avoided being struck dead with an arrow by the arriving elf king if she hadn't stopped fleeing to pick up the Prom Queen crown that she spitefully snatched away from the actual winner.

@ Warrior Poet

  • In Gnome Man's Land by Esther Friesner, since most actual weapons are banned from the prom battle in Harpy High, two Japanese magical creatures on opposite sides read biting Haikus to each other and agree that the loser will kill himself after accepting the other's superiority. The loser tries to kill his opponent (and some of the opponent's friends) before killing himself as agreed, causing him to end up dead at another's hands.

@ Drive Me Crazy

  • Love to Hate: Alicia may be a manipulative False Friend who screws with the lives of her classmates out of jealousy or ambition, but she is so snarky and calculating about it that plenty of fans still enjoy whenever she is onscreen.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Dulcie is treated as a Romantic False Lead, but many find her to be one of the more cool and developed characters in the movie, finding her Soapbox Sadie activities engaging rather than annoying, appreciating her concern for how Chase is seemingly changing himself for a girl, and feeling that she deserved better than to get manipulated and jerked around by the leads (especially after her Jerkass Realization when Nicole explains to her why Chase clashes with her foes on animal testing).
  • The Woobie: Dee is Formerly Fat and was bullied before losing weight and getting In with the 'In' Crowd, admits that she no longer knows if anyone cares about her or truly knows her, and is nearly date-raped by her Jerk Jock boyfriend. Fortunately, she does get a case of Earn Your Happy Ending.

@ King Hill

    Erwin

Erwin Linker

Voiced By: Jack Carter
A buddy of Cotton at the VFW.
  • Odd Name Out: He is the only one of the VDW gang Cotton calls by his full name instead of a nickname like Topsy, Doc, or the multiple Fattys, Stinkys, and Brooklyns.
  • Recurring Extra: He appears four times in seasons 4-6, but mostly in group scenes without much individual focus.
  • Retired Badass: Cotton views him as a potential recruit for a plot to assassinate Castro based on his old exploits, but Erwin needs an oxygen mask to breathe and is unfit for physical work.
  • Uncertain Doom: An inscription with his date of death is shown in season 13, but his first name is spelled with an I instead of an E and, despite appearing in several earlier episodes, he is listed as having died in 1991, six years before the show even started, making it unclear if someone made a mistake with the inscriptions or it was a similarly named character who died.

@ friesner ymmv

@ friesnwr

  • The Shrink: The school counselor in Gnome Man's Land is of the touchy-feely variety and thinks Mommy Issues mean more to Tim than they (probably) do, but he can make some good insights and is able to get several warring mythical creatures to settle down for peaceful group therapy.

@ Serge Storms

As a 26-book series with a rotating cast, Serge Storms is bound to have some characters fans feel could have been better and/or more frequently used.

  • Detective Susan Tchoupitoulas from Florida Roadkill is an Action Girl with some not entirely pleasant family history with Serge and has mixed feelings about letting him escape in the climax. She could have been a good Sympathetic Inspector Antagonist as the series progressed, but that role goes to (the admittedly entertaining) Mahoney instead after he debuts two books later.
  • Cool Old Guy Mock Millionaire Ambrose from Triggerfish Twist has some touching interactions with Serge and could have been an interesting addition to the E-Unit after marrying one of them at the end of the book, but he has passed away by the time his widow and her friends reach Recurring Character status.
  • National guardsmen Fulbright and Boudreaux from Orange Crush have some shared traumatic yet bonding experience with Conrad and could have played a role participating in or at least observing his election campaign, but both vanish from the story right after their homecoming.
  • Adorably Precocious Child Mikey from Electric Barracuda, who Serge takes care of while trying to figure out if Mikey is his son, had good recurring character potential as he aged but never does reappear.
  • The fake Bar and Pat from The Riptide ultra-glide are cunning, Affably Evil paid killers who seem to target other criminals and completely outmaneuver Serge and end the book triumphant. Serge re-encountering them for a bitter rematch or an Enemy Mine alliance could have been interesting, but they never do reappear.
  • Achievements in Ignorance Awesome by Analysis tagalong grad student Matt does a lot to elevate Coconut Cowboy and ends the book uncertain about his future, but never does encounter Serge again.
  • Cheyenne and her brother Kyle add a lot of color and warmth to Naked Came the Florida Man but take until the halfway point of the book to show up when fewer fans liked all of the scenes Serge and Coleman have in that book before meeting them.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water trial lawyer Shelby from Shark Skin Suite made a great colleague for recurring character Brook, and it can feel disappointing that he never works with her again and is murdered fairly early in the book.
  • Noble Top Enforcer Cinco from Mermaid Confidential comes across as a Hyper-Competent Sidekick in a gang war before making a hospice and its staff and child residents his Protectorate under the orders of a dead friend who accidentally killed the caregiver's brother. All of this feels like it has whole books of material, but he only has five scenes in one book and dies in the one right after he starts protecting the hospice.

@ Death Race

  • Big Bill and Apache's unnamed navigators from the second movie have their fans for each getting a minor but notable Action Girl moment and the former woman's Even Evil Has Standards reaction to what a Bad Boss Bill is.

@ Hero of Another Story

  • After the first quarter of the film, the focus of The Round Up (2010) remains on the families and characters who are in Vichy custody. Those who escape the round-up or get out of the holding center early on, like Nono's sister and brother and Anna Traube, and the Good Samaritans or La Résistance members who help them (like Father Bernard, Gaston the plumber, Vladimir, the firefighters, and indirectly the doctor who treats Annette) either disappear afterward or only reappear briefly, although their own struggles are far from over.

YMMV.Lego Horizon Adventures:

  • Creator's Oddball: The game serves as one for Guerrilla Games, being a lighthearted family-friendly game in contrast to their more mature and cinematic games such as Killzone and the main Horizon games. According to the developers at Guerrilla, this shift in tone and style stems from them wanting to do something lighthearted for a change following Forbidden West, make something that their kids can enjoy, and expand Horizon to a wider audience.

I am correcting some tropes for Another Apple Sleep Experiment and the Ghostface Tamber Series.

Another Apple Sleep Experiment

• Dies Wide Open: In the images of the Dramatic Reading, Starlight, Mrs Cake, Sweetie Belle and Soarin all end up dying with their eyes open.

• Shell-Shocked Veteran: After fighting with Applejack in the apple orchard 7 years ago, Rainbow has been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder caused by getting beaten up by the earth pony. Twilight even suggests that she should see somepony about it but Rainbow refuses, but she begins to regret doing that after crashing into the same orchard and hearing Applejack's voice say the exact words she said to her all those years ago.

• Used to be a Sweet Kid: Before she was partially paralyzed, her brother and friends abandoned her, and finding out that Twilight and her friends not only pretended Applejack was dead, but knew that she killed ponies because of a potion the Alicorn gave her, Apple Bloom used to be a sweet filly.

Ghostface Tamber Series

• Abusive Parents: In the Summer Before Blackmore story, we discover that Amber's father is physically and sexually abusive towards her. We find out it's because he isn't her biological father, as her mother cheated on him with [[spoilers: Stu Macher, who survived getting a TV dropped on his head, but died before Amber was born.]]

• Curse Cut Short: After finding Amber and Tara watching a movie with the volume high and the former talks back to her about caring for the latter when she abandoned her to look after their alcoholic mother, Sam walks up to her, furiously cursing her out, only for Tara to intervene.

Sam: Listen here, you son of a bi-

Tara: Stop for fucks sake! Amber's gonna take me back to the hospital once the movie finishes, alright Sam?

• Dramatic Unmask: A variation of the trope. After being stabbed by Ghostface in the kitchen in the first story, You're Psychotic But I Love It, Tara removes the assailant's mask, knowing that it's Amber under it.

• Even Evil Has Standards: Even though Amber and Tara killed innocent people to make a better Stab movie in You're Psychotic But I Love It, they both are disgusted about Richie's romantic feelings for the former, that he's kept for about ten years since he sexually assaulted her when she was a kid despite their age gap.

° Amber and Tara let Mindy live because she's their friend instead of killing her after Richie failed to do so earlier.

° In the third story, The Summer Before Blackmore, Amber doesn't like it when she sees her friend Mindy get pushed to the ground by a woman who she finds out later was being Transphobic towards Anika, who Mindy has a crush on. She walks up to the woman and punches her in the face, knocking her out.

• Eye Scream: In a New Ghostface, after stabbing him multiple times in different places, Amber stabs Detective Bailey in the eye.

• Killed Offscreen: Jason and Greg's deaths weren't shown in the fourth story because it begins with the Core Four and Anika at the Frat Party, but they are referenced on the news along with the fact that Amber's driver's licence was found at a crime scene, just like Sam's was in the original film.

Here's some more tropes for the Ghostface Tamber Series.

• Adaptational Villainy: Unlike the film, Tara helps Amber in the first story with planning the killing spree, playing the innocent victim and even killing Wes, Richie and Sam in that order.

• Age Gap Romance: What Richie believes he and Amber are secretly in, considering he's in his 20s and she's 17.

• Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After finding out that Tara is one of the killers, along with Amber and is about to kill her, Sam pleads with her not to do it.

Sam: No, please, Tara, I'm your sister, I'm sorry, I love you, please, don't, I'm begging you, please st-

• Frame-Up: Amber and Tara get away with the murders in Woodsboro by framing Sam and Richie, the latter of whom wasn't that innocent as he tried to murder Mindy and called Tara on the night she was attacked.

• Hypocrite: When Tara interrupts her and Richie making out in the kitchen, telling her to get a room, Sam mentions Tara doing the same thing with Amber last night, and Tara reminds her they did it in the bedroom.

° After Amber reveals her plan to betray him and Tara stabs him in the neck, Richie says he trusted her, even though he betrayed Sam who trusted him as he is her boyfriend.

• Villain Protagonist: In You're Psychotic But I Love It, Amber and Tara are the main characters who are behind the killing spree in the story, with Richie as their pawn who, along with Sam, they frame for the murders.

I got some trope entries to check for spelling and grammar errors

Total Disventure All Stars

  • The Atoner: Bowie pulls a Heel–Face Turn and joins the heroes after realizing his actions indirectly led to his boyfriend, Raj, getting eliminated, where he tries making amends for his pasts deeds, especially in regards to Jake and Priya.
  • Anti-Villain: Ally pulls her Face–Heel Turn and joins the Villains’ Alliance in voting off Millie. This isn’t because Ally’s a bad person but rather Julia convinced Ally look after her own self-interests. It helps that Ally doesn’t go out of her way to antagonize the other contestants, lacks her Irrational Hatred for Jake compared to her canon self, still retains her relationships with Hunter and Tess, and even becomes a Positive Friend Influence to Julia.
  • Beta Bitch: Ally becomes this for Julia when the latter convinces the former to betray the heroes and join Julia, where Ally usually votes whoever Julia wants, starting with Millie, while also serving as The Confidant for Julia.
  • The Confidant: Ally becomes the person who Julia confides with the most after the two form their own alliance where Julia discusses her issues with Ally, though most of them involve her own feelings for MK.
  • Decomposite Character:
    • Connor and Priya both compete in this season, but it’s Priya takes Connor’s role in returning to the competition after winning the comeback challenge.
    • Like in canon, Ally and Gabby compete in All-Stars, the latter takes the former’s role in developing an intense Jake and being the hero who Jake butt-heads with the most in this story.
  • Cool Kid-and-Loser Friendship: Lovable Nerd and divisive twitch streamer, Ally, ends up befriending Alpha Bitch and popular influencer, Julia, after the the two decide to form an alliance with each other.
  • Face/Heel Double-Turn: Played straight regarding Ally and Bowie. Ally was a Lovable Nerd and Nice Girl who wanted to help others, while Bowie, despite being Affably Evil, was a Schemer who manipulated people for his own ends. When they both compete in All-Stars and as the season progresses, Ally gets influenced by Julia into being more self-serving around the time Bowie shows regret about his past actions, especially when it leads to his boyfriend, Raj, getting eliminated, and when the two reach the merge, Ally betrays the heroes around the time Bowie officially joins them.
  • Groin Attack:
    • Julia knees Chef Hatchet in the groin when he corners her and Ally in the “Maze of Mayhem”
    • Bowie kicks Yul in the nuts during in the superhero simulation.
  • Odd Friendship: Lovable Nerd and Gamer Chick Ally manages to befriend Alpha Bitch and Bad Influencer, Julia, when the two decide to team up, where Ally learns more about Julia’s nicer side, especially in regards to her feelings for MK, while Julia appreciates Ally for trying to empathize with her and ends up being on of the very few people Julia actually cares about.
  • Positive Friend Influence: After Julia convinces Ally to betray the heroes and join her side, Ally’s influence causes Julia to become more open about her own issues and actually shows concern for people other than herself.
  • Shipper on Deck: Ally ends up becoming a shipper for Julia and MK, where Ally is ecstatic when Julia admits that she may have reciprocated MK’s feelings for her.
  • Token Good Teammate: Ally becomes this for the Villains’s Alliance after Julia convinces Ally to betray the heroes and join said alliance. Ally is still a Nice Girl who, unlike everyone else in that Alliance, doesn’t go out of her way to antagonize the heroic contestants instead simply serving as The Confidant to Julia while trying to remain cordial to everyone, including Jake who unlike in canon, Ally doesn’t have an Irrational Hatred towards. Ally also shows disgust at Yul subjecting Gabby to Electric Torture in the Superhero simulation, where she (and Julia) has no problem joining MK, Grett, and the heroes in voting him off, against Alec and Riya’s wishes.
  • Tsundere: Julia is the harsh type. Though she usually likes to paint her self as a Friendship-Hating Antagonist who enjoys being rude to people, she is capable of being kind to people she actually befriend, such as Ally, Fiore, and especially MK, even if she’ll deny being nice afterwards.

Total Drama

  • Ax-Crazy: Though Priya is usually a Nice Girl, she can be quite murderously unstable towards people she believed have wrong her. Examples of such include Caleb, whom Priya actually tries to kill at one point, and Julia who Priya wishes for Julia to loose her toes after Julia just eliminated her.
  • Cute and Psycho: Priya may be a cute, petite and dorky Nice Girl but has a psychotic streak that unleashes itself whenever she gets angered. It got to the point where she actually tried to murder Caleb after being led to believe that he was only using her feelings for him for his own gain.

Hi Arivne, here's a new trope for Power Rangers SPD episode: Idol.

  • Exact Words: When confronted by Sky for lying about the criminal he claims to be pursuing, Dru merely tells him he's on a secret mission. Said mission is later revealed to be to destroy Cruger, on Broodwing's orders.
  • Spotting the Thread: When Dru is taken to the base, he claims his crash on Earth was because he is chasing after a criminal named Zantor. However, Sky later checks on Zantor's file and finds out he's still imprisoned, making Sky suspicious about Dru.

Shadow, Part 1.

  • Berserk Button: Mora does not appreciate her monsters being called "foolish" by Gruumm when her latest one cries while he's arrested by the Rangers.

Also Messenger, Part 2.

  • No Honor Among Thieves: While fighting against the Omega Ranger, Devastation creates a Circle of fury which traps and weakens the latter and Morgana, much to her shock.

These are more tropes for the Ghostface Tamber Series.

• Avenging The Villain: Just like the 6th film, the killers in A New Ghostface are Richie's father and siblings.

• Boom, Headshot!: Just like in the original movie, Amber shoots Liv in the head. It's revealed in the second story that she regrets doing it and only did it because Richie told her to.

° In A New Ghostface, Quinn, who is one of the killers, is also shot in the head by Amber.

• Call Back: In You're Psychotic But I Love it, when Sidney calls Amber and Tara, who reveal themselves as murderers, crazy, Amber retorts "We prefer the term-", only for Tara to finish with "Psychotic.", which are what Stu said to Sidney when she called him and Billy crazy.

° Just like Sam in the 5th and 6th film, Amber hallucinates seeing not only Billy but Stu as well as Richie's siblings, Ethan and Quinn.

° Like Sam in Scream 6, Amber tries to punch Elizabeth Wilden, a news reporter as Gale died in the first story, who dodges only for Tara to punch her successfully as Elizabeth brags to Amber, saying she's seen it done before.

• Dude, Not Funny: One of two brothers thinks it's funny for him and his brother to dress as Ghostface to scare the survivors of a killing spree, even though their dad is a police officer who's boss and a fellow officer were victims of said killing spree.

• Killer Cop: One of the killers in A New Ghostface is Detective Bailey, Richie's father.

• Lovable Jock: After surviving the killing spree, Chad is very protective of his twin sister, Mindy and friends, Amber and Tara.

YMMV.Sonic Generations:

  • Broken Base: Classic Sonic being mute. Some don't mind it and find it preferable over Classic Sonic having a voice, given how divisive Sonic's voices have been, while others found it to be too jarring and Out of Character for Sonic, given his nature as a Mascot with Attitude and that every other classic character in the game speaks, doubly so given that Classic Sonic has spoken in numerous material, several classic games, such as Sonic CD and 3D Blast, and even in Generations' own tie-in manga.

  • Older Than They Think: Some fans took issue with Classic Sonic's more "cutesy" depiction in the game. However, this was true to how Sonic was presented in Japanese promotional art in the '90s. In fact, one of the main factors that led to Sonic's modern redesign was that Yuji Naka felt he had become too cutesy and strayed too far from his "bad boy" roots. This aspect was lost in the West, as Sega's Western divisions changed Sonic's portrayal to be more Totally Radical.

  • Salvaged Story: One of the main criticisms regarding the game's story was Sonic's lack of retorts to his friends upon saving them, which some felt was a missed opportunity. The remaster rectifies this and features new dialogue between Sonic and his friends.

  • Special Effects Failure: The cutscenes were not changed to match the new script in the remaster, resulting in some awkward moments not found in the original game. For example, when Classic Sonic rescues Knuckles in the original game, Knuckles makes a comment about his weight, causing Sonic to rub his stomach in response. In the remaster, however, Knuckles simply asks where the rest of his island is, which makes Classic Sonic's unaltered response unintentionally awkward.

  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • While the original script was disliked, many didn't like Ian Flynn's rewrite, finding the new references to be shoehorned in (even for a game all about references) and disliking the changes made to the dialogue (most notably the downplaying of Amy's crush on Sonic). It doesn't help that the cutscenes were not changed to match the new dialogue, causing the new dialogue to awkwardly clash with the animations. There are also those hate it for reasons of preservation, not liking the idea of Sega changing and rewriting their past games' stories, which isn't helped by the original Sonic Generations having been partially delisted.note
    • Many were upset that most of Amy's crush on Sonic had been downplayed or modified in the remaster (like her holding cupcakes instead of attempting to hug him and her biography removing mentions of her crush on him). While the downplaying of Amy's crush on Sonic started with Lost World, Sega downplaying her crush in a past game was seen as a step too far, with many accusing Sega of overcorrecting by retconning and taking away Amy's core traits instead of developing her. This has also caused Ian Flynn to be harassed over Amy's characterization, even though he was only working within Sega's guidelines.

These are my corrections for the Ghostface Tamber Series tropes I found in the stories.

• Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After finding out that Tara is one of the killers, along with Amber, and is about to kill her, Sam pleads with her not to do it.

Sam: No, please, Tara, I'm your sister, I'm sorry, I love you, please, don't, I'm begging you, please st-

• Call Back: Just like Sam in the 5th and 6th movie, Amber hallucinates seeing not only Billy but Stu, as well as Richie's siblings, Ethan and Quinn.

° Like Sam in Scream 6, Amber tries to punch Elizabeth Wilden, a news reporter, as Gale did in the first story, who dodges, only for Tara to punch her successfully as Elizabeth brags to Amber, saying she's seen it done before.

• Dude, Not Funny: One of two brothers thinks it's funny for him and his brother to dress up as Ghostface to scare the survivors of a killing spree, even though their dad is a police officer whose boss and a fellow officer were victims of said killing spree.

• Frame-Up: Amber and Tara get away with the murders in Woodsboro by framing Sam and Richie, the latter of whom wasn't that innocent, as he tried to murder Mindy and called Tara on the night she was attacked.

• Hypocrite: After Amber reveals her plan to betray him and Tara stabs him in the neck, Richie says he trusted her, even though he betrayed Sam, who trusted him as he is her boyfriend.

• Lovable Jock: After surviving the killing spree, Chad is very protective of his twin sister Mindy and their friends Amber and Tara.

This is a lot but I expect to be busy enough today that I won't have much more stuff to add to existing pages.

@ Prom Wars

  • The Good-Times Montage of Percy and Diana doing things like sharing popcorn, playing in piles of leaves, and fighting off bullies makes it easier to see why their breakup hurt them both so much and why they are so open to getting back together throughout the film (which shows in ways like her complimenting his play).
  • The Give Geeks a Chance moments between Joe and Jen B.
  • Despite going to a different school than Percy, Sabina still helps him with his plays and his friends with their dance.
  • Percy and his little sister Maggie are constantly at each other's throats as she acts as a reluctant courier for him and Diana, but when she sadly describes how the girls at her school are being disciplined over the Prom Was, Percy is sympathetic and comforting to her as they sit there in silence.
  • When Joe and two other boys are stripped to their underwear by Lancaster bullies while on their way to a date, several girls who have previously been rather dismissive to them are sympathetic and impressed they had the guts to show up despite the humiliating circumstances.
  • Jen L. and Rupert flirting as they talk about his past Vow of Celibacy and show their respective Good with Numbers skills.

@ Wimpy Kid

  • Hidden Depths: Aunt Cakey's Butt-Monkey boyfriend Vincent turns out to be a sommelier.
  • Karma Houdini: Susan gets at least a little frustration and humiliation for escalating her usual Control Freak behavior, but her mother avoids any comeuppance for her lies and manipulations toward her family throughout the book.
  • Sibling Triangle: It is unsubtly foreshadowed throughout the book and eventually confirmed during a dinner scene that Greg met Susan while dating one of her sisters and they spent a while fighting over him.
  • Who Would Want to Watch Us?: Greg, the point-of-view character of a long-running, bestselling novel series about his dysfunctional family, thinks that everyday life in his family is too boring for a reality show or similar media.

@ 100 Bullets

  • Non-Idle Rich: Despite being a wealthy Illuminati-esque Jerkass, Vasco seems to enjoy working in the fields of his vineyard every now and then.

@ Adolf Hitlarious

    Fan Works
  • The Hogan's Heroes fanfic It's All a Plot features a visiting German writer who is ordered to write a Nazi propaganda piece and lives in constant terror of being uncovered as the author of The Importance of Being Adolf, an unpublished pre-war work of merciless political satire targeting a familiar sinister, bombastic Rabble Rouser.

@ 1632

  • Up-time supremacist recurring Grantville Gazette barflies Ape and Monkey Hart are frequently the most uncharismatic people in the room before eventually getting some Everyone Has Standards professionalism about their work and gradually letting go of their notions of superiority in the short story "Change of Hart."

@ Childhood Friend Romance

  • Intermedio: Malik and Gen grew up together (their dads were coworkers), and, while they have other partners at the beginning of the movie, after those partners die and they go through a harrowing adventure together, the two end up in bed together in the final scene.

@ Animal Stampede

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: In the climax, the cowboys and Cossacks weaponize this by herding the cattle through the arroyo the Tartars are charging down, trampling most of their enemies.

@ Black Vikings

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Rostov's band of Cossacks doesn't come from any one part of Russia, and at least one, Nick, has a distinct Asian appearance.

@ Cattle Drive

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Fifteen Montana cowboys are hired to drive a herd across Siberia (with sixteen Cossack escorts) in 1880, with the trip being full of battle, one-upmanship, and gradual friendships.

@ Dying Moment of Awesome

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack:
    • As Lieutenant Bruk begins to die from drinking water from a poisoned well, his swelling throat keeps him from being able to yell a warning as Keats prepares to drink from the well. So the dying Bruk hurls his saber to slice the rope holding the bucket and make it fall back down the well.
    • An Almost Dead Guy Tartar agrees to give information about the horde in exchange for being given back his knife so he can kill himself with it instead of dying from an enemy bullet, and acts as if he's almost too weak to do so as he gets the knife back, only to propel himself at Rostov with surprising speed in an unsuccessful Taking You with Me ploy.
    • After assassinating the Tartar chieftain, Shad is captured and is about to be burned alive to intimidate his nearby companions. All he does is scream out a battle plan for them to stampede the cattle at the charging enemies (who he knows won't realize this due to their not speaking English).

@ Foregone Conclusion

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: The framing device and first chapter establish that Levi only dies twenty-six years after the cattle drive and that something sad will happen to Byronic Hero Shad that makes Levi want to keep memories of his best moments alive.

@ Happily Ever Before

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: While there are some deaths and heartbreak in the climax, the surviving characters come out of it with closer bonds and Levi returns to the cowboying life he loves in Montana. However, according to his dates of birth and death in the prologue, he will end up dying at the young age of 44, 26 years after the adventure.

@ Impeded Messenger

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: After being surrounded by Tartars, Rostov sends his best horseman, Pietre, to get help. Pietre is caught and has his mangled body sent back on his horse, after which two more messengers are sent together on a less direct route. One is killed but the other survives to get help, although The Cavalry Arrives Late.

@ Informed Judiasm

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Sammy the Kid acknowledges he n the second chapter that he's Jewish, is told that might make him a target of violence in certain spots of Russia, and, after a brief argument about whether the port official should let him into the country because of this, his Judaism is never mentioned again.

@ Mercy Kill

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: In the climax, Shad is captured by the Tartars and is about to be burned alive before Rostov kills him with a sniper shot.

@ Scarily Competent Tracker

  • The Cowboy and the Cossack: Captain Rostov and Lieutenant Bruk find a few threads of cloth stuck in a brush and determine they were left by Tartars, who must have passed through the area at least a month ago. Levi is too embarrassed by his own failure to read the land to ask how they can be that specific.

@ The Cowboy and the Cossack (I'll crosswick all the stuff I have above this and put in my last round)

The Cowboy and the Cossack is a 1973 Western novel by Clair Huffaker. A group of Montana cowboys travel across the world with a shipload of cattle to herd through Siberia, and learn that they are to be escorted by a group of Cossack warriors. The long journey sees severe Culture Clash that turns into gradual bonding over a long Cattle Drive that is menaced by local wildlife, Tsarist Cossacks who are sworn enemies of the group accompanying the cattle drive, and Tartar hordes.

Tropes

@ The Cowboy and the Cossack

  • When a Corrupt Bureaucrat demands more money before he'll let the cowboys bring the cattle ashore in his city, they have the ship go back out to sea a bit, then herd out the cattle out into the ocean to swim to the outskirts of town and ride their horses in after them.
  • Rostov grabs a (quite large) captured wolf by the neck with one hand, brings its snarling face up close to his to stare at it, then throws the wolf six feet away with one hand.
  • The relay race (with a rock instead of a flag) between the cowboys and the Cossacks has moments like Kirdyaga picking up the dropped rock with one hand without dismounting, then Levi and Peitre both riding hard toward a cliff ahead of the finish lines, with Levi telling his horse that it's his choice whether to jump or not, depending on what he thinks, rather than second guess himself.
  • The battle with the wolves, where the Cossacks cut down about two dozen of them with their sabers.
  • When one Cossack pulls a sword on a cowboy during a brawl, the stiff-necked and sometimes xenophobic Shad breaks up the fight and admits his men were responsible. Then, because the Cossacks pride themselves on not resheathing their swords until they have drawn blood, he nicks himself with it before handing it back. That is the moment when the Cossacks really begin respecting him.
  • Rostov's Combat Medic moments save Kirdyaga from dying of an Agonizing Stomach Wound and Crab from losing his arm to infection from a wolf bite.
  • A dying Bruk throws his sword at the poisoned bucket of water Keats was about to innocently drink from to keep him from being poisoned as well.
  • Shad assassinates the enemy leader with his rifle, is captured, and yells out for his friends to stampede the cattle at the Tartars, which they do, winning the fight.

@ The Cowboy and the Cossack

  • The chess games between Keats and Bruk.
  • Every moment Shad is A Father to His Men to help one of them save face (lying that his given name is Shadrack and asking who has a problem with it when another man is teased for his name) or maybe even save their lives. And then there's the Backstory of how he met a young Levi after Levi's parents froze to death while holding him between them so he could stay warm, and Shad pried Levi out of that traumatic embrace. When Levi asked where his parents were, Shad answered in a way that was honest yet gentle enough that it didn't feel sad or devastating, to the point where, because of his kind tone, "They've never been truly dead in my mind, even to this day."
  • Captain Rostov spares the life of a wolf after it protects the remnants of its pack and trades some banter with Shad about it. Later, Shad spares the life of a Siberian Tiger that the group had cornered after it killed a steer and makes an Ironic Echo comment that Rostov clearly approves of.
  • Peitre sacrifices the rock he is carrying in the relay race to save his horse from sliding down a cliff. Levi then tosses his rock down the cliff so there will be a tie, and everyone can save face.
  • After Igor loses his horse in the fight with the wolves, the Cossacks give it a decent burial, and Levi is moved enough to give him one of the cowboys' horses that resembles Igor's horse as a replacement.
  • After Shad's Dying Moment of Awesome, Rostov places his own prized saber by Shad's body before they bury him.
  • The remaining cowboys and Cossacks trade horses and sacks of Russian soil with each other at their last meeting.

@ Land of the Dead

  • Fanfic Fuel: Given the Friendly Fandoms of Land of the Dead and Warm Bodies (some even wonder if they could be set in the same universe), it can be interesting to imagine the sympathetic band of zombies in the former film accidentally curing themselves as they learn how to feel human again, like the zombies in the latter work.

@ Angel ensemble

@ Down to a Sunless Sea

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Lieutenant Redfern (a Hero of Another Story Voice with an Internet Connection who gets a Heroic Sacrifice) and Arctic base commander Elkins (who gets to be reunited with his surviving family from the plane) both appear briefly but are frequently noted and remembered by readers.
  • He's Just Hiding: While it seems like Jonah and his group are the only ones to make the flight to the possible safety of Antarctica, it can be nice to imagine some of the other people they are in radio contact with or discuss before the war might have also made the trip on different routes.

@ Gamer Chick

  • Hatley High: Love Interest Hyacinthe is the only girl in the tabletop gaming club, is its best and cockiest member, and insists on being called Dragon Mistress and not Dragon Master.

@ Golden Snitch

  • Hatley High: The Russians win three of their first four chess matches against Hatley players, but, because the team captains' match is worth three points, the tournament is still Down to the Last Play.

@ Making Love in All the Wrong Places

  • Hatley High: Shaun and Anya are prepared to have sex on the principal's desk before it turns out she just wants to trick him into letting her tie him up so she can keep him from attending their chess match.

@ Ragtag Bunch of Misfits

  • Hatley High: The basketball team is an unimpressive force that includes Julisu, a talented player with no interest in being scouted by colleges and a dream of surfing, overly serious British documentary maker Trevor, Daryl The Silent Bob, and magic enthusiast and budding chess prodigy Tommy. Unusually, while they hang out a lot and resolve the plot together, they never improve their playing or get much urging to, as the town and the plot are more focused on chess than basketball.

@ Throwing the Fight

  • Hatley High: Tommy's mother, a potential Grandmaster, deliberately lost her captains' match against the Russians and never played competitive chess again due to being sick of the pressure the town put on her to win.

@ Unexpected Virgin

@ Unknown Rival

  • Hatley High: Shaun is certain that Tommy, the son of a hometown chess prodigy, is out to usurp him as the school champion and acts like an aggressive alpha male toward him as a result, while Tommy is barely interested in chess (despite being much better at it than he realizes) and assumes Shaun is just a bully by nature (to be fair, he kind of is) or is hazing the new kid, and mostly ignores him.

@ Hatley High

Hatley High is a 2003 Canadian film about a town where Chess is Serious Business. The widower and teenage son of a Hometown Hero inherit her family home and absorb the strangeness of their new town as many people are convinced that young Tommy will follow in the footsteps of his late mother to be the town's best hope of victory in an upcoming tournament with visiting Russian players. Tommy struggles to find his path and starts dating the local cheerleader and Class Representative. The film also contains mild Magical Realism elements, as the local priest is Pals with Jesus despite almost no one else believing his comments in this regard, and Tommy can seemingly perform minor acts of real magic, although neither seriously affects the larger plots behind Tommy's high school experiences and all the local chess mania.

Tropes:

@ Hatley High

  • Cult Classic: It is an independent film that quickly faded from attention after its debut, but its unusual premise and quirky cast make a lot of its viewers praise it as one of the great unknown Canadian movies.

@ Country Mouse

  • The Color Of Paradise: Hashem is a modestly dressed man who needs to travel many hours by bus and then cart to get from Mohammad's school back to his village, wants to marry into a superstitious family and awkwardly rides around on a donkey while trying to look debonair.

@ Handicapped Badass

  • ''The Color Of Paradise: There is no actual fighting in the film, but despite being blind, Mohammad is able to climb a tree to carry a baby bird back to its nest.

@ Meadow Run

  • The Color Of Paradise: Mohammad's sisters have a familial version when they hold hands with their blind, nature-loving brother to guide him through the flowery meadow after his return home.

@ Parental Abandonment

  • The Color Of Paradise: Frustrated with caring for his blind son and worrying that the woman he is wooing will feel the same, Hashem tries to persuade Mohammad's school to keep him there during holidays, and when that fails, eventually apprentices Mohammad to a blind carpenter (who develops a decent but not quite fatherly relationship with the boy) and leaves his crying son to live at the man's house before guiltily changing his mind after the death of his mother, Mohammad's biggest advocate.

@ What You Are in the Dark

@ The Color Of Paradise

The Color of Paradise is a 1999 Iranian film about Mohammad, a spiritual blind boy with a feeling that The World Is Just Awesome but a regret about being unable to fully experience and understand its wonders. His adoring grandmother and sisters are delighted by his return from his school for the blind, but his unhappy Parent with New Paramour Hashem struggles to connect with Mohammad and views him as a burden, something which threatens to tear their family apart.

Here are more tropes for the Ghostface Tamber Series.

• Parental Abandonment: Tara's father left when she was 8 after finding out that Sam wasn't his daughter.

• The Alcoholic: Just like in the films, Christina, Sam and Tara's mom, is mentioned only by the latter and Amber to be an alcoholic.

• "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After finding Amber and Tara watching a movie with the volume loud, berate them for doing so because Judy and Wes were killed and telling Tara she won't stop worrying about her, Sam is talked back at by Amber for caring when she abandoned Tara and left her to look after their alcoholic mother for years.

Amber: Now you care, how ironic.

Sam: What did you say?

Amber: (chuckles dryly) You didn't seem to care much when you abandoned your thirteen-year-old sister to look after your drunken mother. But now she got attacked and has eyes on her and you're suddenly finally acting like an older sister.

° After stabbing Richie in front of Sam, thus revealing herself to be one of the killers and being asked why she's doing this, Tara takes all her anger out on Sam.

Tara: You don't know shit about me, Sam! You destroyed our fucking family by driving dad away then fucking left! I guess your job was done!

Sam: No, it wasn't like that-

Tara: It was exactly like that. And I had to take care of that fucking lame ass excuse of a mother!

Do these sentences have mistake?

  • When Misaki Runo ascended to the Pantheon and saw Dan in front of her, the first thing she did was slap him hard and start yelling at him, she said how much she was worried when she discovered that he had disappeared without saying anything, after a long time of apology from Dan, She agreed to forgive him, but only if he invites her on a date and takes her to the beautiful places of the Pantheon. Kuso realizing that he hurt his girlfriend’s feelings, agreed to go on a date with her to make amends and improve their relationship.

  • The first friends she made after her ascension are Kairi and Amy Rose, it was not difficult to them to find a common language since they are connected by the fact that they are all childhood friends of the leader of their groups, who developed romantic feelings for them after due events. Although unlike Princess of Heart and Blue-Haired Brawler, Amy is not in a relationship with her childhood crush, they nonetheless support their friend. In general they get along well with each other and they can be seen accompanying Dan, Sora and Sonic. Runo also became friends with Rias Gremory and Rin Tohsaka. In the first case, although she is jealous of Rias’s physique, Runo still respect Rias for her loyalty to Issei and helping to relieve his mental trauma. It was not at all difficult for her to find a common language with Rin, largely due to their similarities, since despite they sometimes can be arrogant but they still deeply cares about their friends and lately they have become kinder and more open.

  • Runo became Shinji’s enemy when she found out what he wanted to do with Rin and what he did to Sakura. At the first, Shinji did not take her seriously when she told him to stay away from them and tried attack her after that, but she summon her Tigrerra, who immediately pinned Shinji to the ground, Runo threatened that if he came even a millimeter closer to Rin or Sakura, she would order her Bakugan to tear him to shreds, after that Shinji who had wet his pants ran away. However, no matter how terrible Shinji is, he cannot be compared to his grandfather Matou Zouken. His presence was enough to make her stomach turn, she feels horror and disgust towards since he is literally and figuratively a monster, and knowledge of what he did to his children was enough to gives her a nightmares. But despite that, in order to protect her new friends, she is ready to fight against him.

  • Currently, she is an employee of a cafe wonder by her parents, her duties include taking orders from customers and bringing them their food. One of regular customers is Erza Scarlet, she likes how in this place cooks strawberry cakes, and therefore she often leaves coins made of gold as a tips. Rita Kanishka also visits this cafe in her free time. Runo enjoys her company, as they share a love for cute things and often she gives Rita high grade for her arts of Moffun.

  • Acknowledgment, do not confuse her with Hatsune Miku, their hairstyle and appearance may be similar, but they are completely different people. However this did not stop Runo from making friends with a virtual singer. She really likes her music and listeners her works during breaks.

I have a few tropes for Into The Depths.

• Driven to Suicide: After waiting for what feels like weeks, Corporal Sure Hoof, after breaking down in front of Sergeant Fortress, ends up killing himself.

• Killed Offscreen: Most of the royal guards are killed Offscreen (although you do hear a scream in Twilight's flashback to when she and Luna went to the castle).

• Make It Look Like an Accident: Two royal guards are killed by a weapons rack and Night Gaze suggests it must have accidentally fallen over ( it's more likely one of the demons deliberately dropped it on them).

• No Time to Explain: When Twilight asks what's happening as she heard screaming and sees that Luna looks scared, the princess answers with this trope.

• Rage Breaking Point: After they fail to escape the castle in the Everfree Forest because the door they came in from is magically sealed, Path Finder, a member of the royal guard, has a mental breakdown because of it and when Twin Blades, another royal guard, tries to calm him down, he talks back to her saying they're dead, the other guard tackles him, reminding him of his duty and how she also wants to escape the castle.

Twin Blades: You say we're dead? Well then, let me put all of us out of our misery. Would you like that? No? Then get a hold of yourself! We aren't dead yet, and until we are dead, we're going to keep fighting to get out. Why? 'Cause I want to see the sun again! 'Cause I want to see my friends and family again! Because I don't want to die in some forsaken tunnel in the middle of the Everfree Forest!

° After witnessing Night Gaze, a fellow royal guard, get crushed by skeletons and being told by Twin Blades that what happened was a sacrifice to protect Princess Celestia, Path Finder loses his cool, saying that it's Celestia's sister Luna's fault and they should give the former to whatever's attacking them.

Path Finder: The PRINCESS! It's her and her sister's fault we're down here in the first place! No pony had to die tonight! And why do we need them anyway?! In the old country, ponies moved the sun and the moon without their help! What makes her life more valuable than Night Gaze's? What makes her life more valuable than Fortress's? We should push her out this door, 'cause I bet she's the one it wants!

• Slashed Throat: Sergeant Fortress discovers that Corporal Sure Hoof killed himself by slitting his throat.

• The Reveal: It is revealed that Luna became Nightmare Moon by reading the Clavicula Concordia Regis, a spell book with links to Tirek, the Centaur ruler of Tartarus, and using it to control six demons that gave her the abilities and demeanour she had as Nightmare Moon.

• Would Hurt a Child: In Princess Celestia's story of the Clavicula Concordia Regis, she says that when Tirek controlled an army of creatures to attack a unicorn queen and her loyal subjects, that all but the queen were killed, which probably included colts and fillies.
