  • Jerkass Has a Point: In "How to get a goth GF w/ a Dump Truck on Tinder", when Turskit reveals she's Hippo's hot goth girlfriend to the surprise of Tahu, he feels it's not supposed to be mathematically possible, saying there's not enough goth girls. Hippo tells him he has to go out and work for a (goth) girlfriend and not expect one to fall into his lap.
Tahu: How did you get a goth girlfriend? It's not supposed to be possible mathematically! There's not enough goth girls!
Hippo: Bruh, stop thinking that a goth girlfriend is just gonna walk into your life one day. That's not how it work, bruh. You gotta get out there and hustle.

Pokémon: The Series — Serena:

  • Birds of a Feather:
    • Ash and Serena are selfless individuals who prioritize helping those in need. Throughout the anime's history, Ash protects Pikachu from wild Spearow, helps abandoned Pokémon like Charmander and Chimchar, and gains the trust of his Charizard. Similarly, Serena has gone to great lengths to save and comfort her Fennekin and Eevee, watch over Bonnie, and assist Mairin in finding Chespie. Their actions demonstrate strong empathy for others.
    • Ash and Serena are assertive individuals who take action when they believe in something. Ash demonstrates this when he speaks up about his concerns for his Butterfree, refuses Scott's offer to become a Frontier Brain, argues with Skyla over her sky battles, and stands up to Lysandre. Serena also speaks to her mother about her dream, declines Palermo's offers, goes to find and talk to Ash, and thanks him with a kiss. These actions show that both Ash and Serena are not passive and care about making their voices heard.
    • Ash and Serena radiate positivity and energy throughout the anime. Ash maintains his optimism and energy from the beginning of the series to his recent determination to defeat Leon. Similarly, Serena showcases her upbeat nature by being supportive and cheerful whenever possible. Despite having an emotional breakdown, she changes her look, helps Jessie with Dr. White, and cheers her Pokemon with food. Moreover, she remains optimistic when she dresses up as Ash to battle and offers to help Mairin with anything she needs. Ash and Serena strive to spread happiness and confidence to those around them.
    • Both Ash and Serena show their sensitive sides when they feel bad about something. Ash feels depressed after losing to Ritchie, Paul, and Wulfric and going down the PWC rankings. Similarly, Serena cries after losing her first showcase, snaps at her Pokémon, has difficulty falling asleep, and regrets getting mad at Ash. These scenes show that they are passionate people who take themselves seriously when something matters and goes wrong and care a lot about making things better for themselves.
    • Ash and Serena are known for their ability to think creatively and solve problems in unique ways. Ash has demonstrated this talent in battles, such as using Pikachu to chip away at Sawyer's Aegislash and using Greninja's knives as ice skates. Outside of battles, Serena also shows her quick thinking, such as suggesting to Ash that his Pokémon think like him, leading him to gather berries. She also improvises and fixes her skirt efficiently in a moment of pressure. When faced with challenges, both Ash and Serena have the ability to come up with brilliant ideas and execute them successfully.
    • Ash and Serena show mindfulness towards each other and those around them. For instance, Ash notices when Serena looks confused during a fishing trip and teaches her how to fish. Serena empathizes with Bonnie when she worries about losing Squishy and tucks her to bed. Ash comforts his Sylveon when it gets upset and advises Serena when she's feeling uneasy. Overall, they are honest, empathetic, and pure-hearted individuals.
    • Both Ash and Serena aspire to improve themselves and impact the people around them. Ritchie was among the first people who respected Ash despite beating him in the Indigo League and shared his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master. Over time, Ash inspires, gains more people's respect, and becomes more humble. Similarly, Serena cheers up Lumiose City and inspires others as she learns what it takes to become Kalos Queen without losing sight of herself or bragging about her accomplishments. Ash and Serena strive to make the people around them happy and the world better.

Sensual Phrase:

Aine Yukimura

  • Defiled Forever: After being brutally raped by Yoshioka, her mind is left a total wreck, leaving her in a near-catonic state. The poor girl is so consumed with shame, self-loathing, and the fear of being rejected that she believes she has not only lost the right to even face, much less be with Sakuya ever again, but also tries to commit suicide twice. Only with Sakuya's proof of his undying love for her does Aine recover and grow much stronger than before.

Novels

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Go Ask Malice: A Slayer's Diary, is one of the most popular and well-known Buffyverse novels, but it is also out of print and (as of 2023) is unavailable as an ebook, and used copies can get pricey.
  • What Could Have Been: When Christopher Golden pitched Sins of the Father, he wanted to have Pike return as a Knight Errant Vampire Hunter, but Joss Whedon disapproved of this and made him change it to reflect his own head canon that Pike and Buffy broke up due to Pike getting tired of constant vampire hunting.

@ Ghost Dog Way Of The Samurai

  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Secondary characters Louise (for being a polite but enigmatic and troubled Mafia Princess who gets some Smarter Than They Look and Beware the Quiet Ones hints) and Raymond (for being the biggest Nice Guy in the movie and having some funny moments due to the Language Barrier between him and his friend Ghost Dog) are two of the most popular characters for most fans.
    • The man building an ark on his rooftop, the kung fu expert, and the camouflage-wearing man who is implied to be another hitman/modern samurai all only appear for a few seconds but are widely praised for adding a lot of color to the film.

@ Grand Inquisitor Scene

  • The climax of Snowpiercer has Rebel Leader Curtis meet Mr. Wilford, the Sole Surviving Scientist perpetuator of the Fantastic Caste System onboard the train with the last remaining humans. Wilford calmly cooks dinner and greatly shakes Curtis by talking about the need to preserve resources and cull the lower-class population (which caused him to let the rebellion get off the ground when he could have easily stopped it) from his perspective while claiming that Curtis's beloved mentor secretly shared many of Wilford's beliefs and ideals and to make Curtis the next leader of the train. Curtis's resolve gradually weakens throughout the talk, but he ultimately chooses to give Wilford a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown rather than submit to his vision.

@ Mean Streets

  • Bait-and-Switch: The ending momentarily implies that Johnny and Teresa are dying by showing a closeup of Teresa's bloody and feebly twitching hand and head, and Johnny staggering toward a white light while clutching his neck wound. Then it turns out Johnny is only walking toward headlights, and once paramedics help Teresa out of the car, she isn't bleeding too badly and can stand with a little help.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Middle-Management Mook Giovanni is awful to Teresa because she has epilepsy.

@ Batman: Holy Terror

  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Many fans like to speculate about what happens once Batman begins his war against the Commonwealth at the end of the book.
    • The meta-human guinea pigs from Erdel's lab (both the shellshocked canon characters and Barry’s Blessed with Suck four fellow speedsters) and both the past hardships they endured together and the survivors’ potential role in Bruce’s campaign inspire particular interest.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Star Chamber prisoners and guinea pigs Terry (a Fearless Fool speedster who temporarily dematerializes himself during an escape attempt), Corinne (whose thoughts travel at superhuman speed while her body can only move at normal speed) and Arthur (a water-breather who was forced to mate with a mermaid who then died in childbirth) only appear in four, one and three panels respectively and do nothing to majorly alter the story. However, the backstory-rich tragedy of what they have gone through at the hands of the Commonwealth and sense of desperation or despair in their countenances make them very memorable characters.

@ The Ink Black Heart

  • Common Knowledge: The book received a lot of hostility for supposedly focusing on an author (Edie Ledwell) being persecuted by the Big Bad online troll over accusations of transphobia while Rowling was undergoing the same thing. While Rowling probably is channeling some of her personal experiences into the book, the transphobia accusations in this book are barely mentioned and are made by a second blogger whose writings Ledwell barely noticed and the big bad focuses on other aspects of the author's life.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Flavia Upcott only physically appears in 4 out of 107 chapters, but her mixture of Adorably Precocious Child moments and perceptive Wise Beyond Their Years comments make her one of the most endearing guest characters in the book to many fans.

@ Justice (DC Comics)

  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Captain Cold is one of the least seen Legion of Doom members in the miniseries, but both the methods and attitude he sports while engaging in Cut Lex Luthor a Check Photo Op with the Dog heroics stand out.
    • Elasti-Girl doesn’t appear until more than halfway through the story, but her The Big Guy moments in Alex Ross's art style make her decently remembered and very notable.
    • Scarecrow is one of the more generic villains in the story and only has a handful of action scenes, but his The Blank mask and the scope of his Mad Scientist efforts make him highly memorable.
    • Solomon Grundy The Brute has even less personality than usual, but his fearsome appearance and occasional Smarter Than They Look moment (such as being one of the only villains to escape at the end of the story) make him a highly notable villain.
    • The Metal Men are tertiary characters at best, but the way they use their liquid alloy powers to give the Justice League impressive battle suits makes them deeply appreciated parts of the miniseries.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The opening issues tease that the Legion of Doom are in full Well-Intentioned Extremist mode due to Dreaming of Things to Come and fearing the destruction of the world, but, reading the rest of the series, it can be hard to tell that most of them are supposed to be acting like anything other than their normal villainous selves.
@ Ciaphas Cain
  • Horatio Bugler and Igor Yaitz from the third book may be The Ghosts, but their dynamic Hero of Another Story naval exploits make for good reading and make them memorable to the fanbase.

@ Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

  • Voldemort himself muses about how many will dare to come back right before summoning the Death Eaters, but it is implied that Karakoff and Snape (the former of whom may just stay away because he has betrayed Voldemort too thoroughly to expect forgiveness) are the only two ex-Death Eaters not to return. The rest of the Death Eaters who avoided Azkaban fear or revere their Ax-Crazy leader that much. In other words, Voldemort, who revels in being the most powerful and dreaded dark lord of the century, actually underestimates just how scary he is. All of this helps set the ominous stage for the Second Wizarding War in ways that even Voldemort’s past appearances and the secondhand descriptions of his crimes may not have managed.

@ Children of the Red King

  • Lysander and his spirit ancestors do battle with a group of vicious, semi-sentient Magically Binding Contracts that are trying to give Billy Death by a Thousand Cuts (paper cuts, to be specific) or at least maim him.
  • Fidelio’s brothers and sisters use musical instruments as Improvised Weapons to fight Ass when he attacks their house in his beast form.
  • Every scene where Olivia uses her new illusion powers, especially when she makes the Bloors faint with an illusion of an angry ghost about to attack them.

@ Children of the Red King

In the third and fourth books, they take their son to Hong Kong while spending several months on the trial of a stolen necklace.

  • Left Hanging: It is never explained why the villainous faction was holding the famous pianist Alberto Tuccini hostage in the third and fourth books, nor what happens after he parts way with Charlie, Billy, and Paton.

@ Children of the Red King: Enemies

  • At Least I Admit It: He is unrepentant about brainwashing Lyell Bone and has a brief Servile Snarker moment when Ezekiel makes a Never My Fault comment about how Charlie blames the Bloors for what happened.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He may be fine with bullying his enemies or letting his allies do so, but gets annoyed in Book 4 when a brainwashed Tancred makes it rain on several good students as they do their homework, telling him to stop, seemingly due to how this is interfering with classes.

@ Trivia Deathly Hallows

  • Word of God suggests that Florean Fortescue (who was kidnapped by Death Eaters in the previous book) was supposed to be among the people rescued from Malfoy Manor, but that he should be considered dead after his rescue was cut out for pacing.

@ Characters Chosen

  • Hidden Depths: Season 3 reveals that he only fished because it provided security for his family and is interested in other pursuits now that John and James have left to follow Jesus, with Zeb starting an olive arden.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He is a leader of the fishermen and refuses to give Simon fish that other men have worked hard for to help pay his debt to the Romans after Simon nearly betrayed them for fishing on Shabbat, but he does help Simon fish to try and make up the difference more honestly out of respect for how Simon changed his mind about collaborating.

    Jairus

Jairus

Portrayed by: Alessandro Colla

A synagogue ruler in Capernum who befriends Yussif.
  • Almighty Janitor: Despite being outranked by the Pharisees, he has keen insights and keeps a lot of sensitive writings in his basement while waiting to see if the time is right for them to be read to the world.
  • I Regret Nothing: When his daughter gets sick, he is worried and questions if this is divine retribution for believing in Jesus, but after weighing what he knows about Jesus and feels in his heart, he says he can’t regret his faith, and Jesus soon cures his daughter.

    Ozem

Ozem

Portrayed by: Ethan Flowers

A lieutenant of Shammai in the Sanhedrin.
  • Family-Values Villain: He is close to his large family and fondly talks about how being there for them is something God approves of.
  • Last Episode, New Character: He debuts in the season 3 finale.
  • Mouth of Sauron: He represents Shammai on matters Shammai is too busy to attend to personally.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: He initially seems like a lazy, good-humored old man who feels unthreatened by Jesus, but he becomes vicious in his intolerance and hostility once he sees how many people Jesus is preaching to and what messages they get from that preaching.
  • Witch Hunter: He talks about being involved in investigations into witchcraft in the past, although whether this makes him a Hero of Another Story (as the series does feature demonic possession and other such forces) or a Villain of Another Story has yet to be revealed.

    Madai and Lamech

Madai and Lamech

Portrayed by: Tony Sears and Sergio Lanza

Two Pharisees in the isolated hamlet of Wadi Kelt, who are offended by everything about Jesus and seek to see his supposed misdeeds brought to the attention to Shmuel and the Sanhedrin.
  • Hidden Depths: They show a sense of humility behind closed doors, albeit in the twisted sense of being honored that God sent a supposed false prophet to their meaningless village for them to punish. They also show enough political insight to understand that writing a report about Jesus will be less effective than telling someone in person and lament about how the Sanhedrin often forgets to tell them about changes in religious laws and practices.
  • Sinister Minister: They are angry men who preach vengeful verses and insult Jesus for healing a man with a maimed arm, saying that God could heal the man himself if he wanted to, that the man deserves no sympathy, and that traditions are more important than helping people.

    Benjamin

Benjamin

Portrayed by: Gys de Villiers

The rabbi of Nazareth. He is open to the idea of Jesus being a prophet of the Messiah but firmly opposed to the idea he could be the Messiah himself.
  • Apologetic Attacker: He is the first Pharisee to outright try to kill Jesus, although he is uncomfortable about it (albeit more due to his friendship with Joseph and Mary than sympathy for Jesus himself). In the end, he can’t go through with it, although whether this is out of guilt, cowardice, or God intervening in unseen ways is treated as an Ambiguous Situation.

@ Stargirl (2020): Heroes

  • The Ghost: The Spectre, the Atom, and Mr. Terrific are missing from the group picture but are later mentioned as team members.

@ Ted Lasso

  • The story behind the haunted workout room involves how, in 1914, hundreds of aspiring athletes were lured to the field to try out for Richmond when it was really a plot by military recruiters, who got hundreds of them to go off and die in World War I.

Red Alert 3: Paradox

A Commander Is You

  • African League: Ranger/Brute/Turtle. Their tactic boils down to shelling the area with high explosive shells until the enemies break before sending in their tougher forces through the breach and all of their buildings are tough and armed. But accuracy issues and being only armed with explosives mean that collateral damage is highly likely and they risk Friendly Fire if the enemies get too close.

  • Atlantean Ascendancy: Generalist/Technical/Unit Specialist (amphibious). All Atlantean ground units are amphibious and gain benefits when fighting at sea, but outside of water they tend to be weaker, and their airforce is one of the weakest.

  • Norse Fylkirate: Brute/Elitist/Unit Specialist (infantry/Battlesuit). The Norse are hard-hitting raiders with a mixture of strong infantry, battlesuits, and navy supported by vehicles and aircraft.

  • Indo-Pacific Defense Initiative: Ranger/Brute. The IPDI is a Glass Cannon that hits hard at long range but their units are are slow and fragile.

  • Reactionary Guard: Spammer/Unit Specialist (airships). The Reactionary Guards rely on rapidly building up their base to swarm the enemy with disposable infantry supported by powerful airships.

One Piece:

  • Eustass Kid:
    • Be Careful What You Wish For:
      • He formed an alliance with Hawkins and Apoo in order to take down an Emperor. He was originally going after Shanks for revenge over the loss of his left arm, but Kaido shows up out of know where at his base due to Apoo selling him out. Kid decides to fight him regardless, but Kaido easily defeats him and imprisons him and his crew in Wano.
      • During the Egghead Arc, Kid and his crew arrive in Elbaf where Shanks and his fleet are. Kid thinks he's ready to fight Shanks in a rematch and readies himself. When Shanks doesn't take him seriously (at first), Kid becomes angry at his lack of respect for him and charges his Damned Punk to sink Shanks fleet to goad him to fight him. He gets what he wanted, as Shanks foresees the damage Kid's attack was going to do and takes Kid out in one hit, takes his Poneglyph rubbings and has his crew sink to the bottom of the ocean.
    • Evil Counterpart: To Shanks. Both men have brick red hair, but while Kid's represents him being a Evil Red Head, Shanks is a Nice Guy and friendly; both are a Benevolent Boss toward there crew, but while Shanks also extends this to his allies, Kid doesn't care for his allies; both lost their left arm years ago (Kid lost his to Shanks' crew while Shanks sacrificed his to save Luffy from dying years ago); both men have all three forms of Haki, but while Shanks is a master in this art, Kid relies on his Devil Fruit more than anything and has little to know skill in Haki. However, while Shanks is a Nice Guy who prefers pacifistic means to end conflicts, Kid is a violent, amoral, sociopath who loves causing destruction and carnage, causing countless civilian casualties over the pettiest of reasons.
    • Fatal Flaw:
      • Pride. Kid is massively prideful and refuses to back down from any challenge, no matter how impossible the task is. While Kid has the drive and passion to succeed in his dream of becoming the Pirate King, his unwillingness to compromise or back down from a challenge when it is obvious he won't win causes him and his crew nothing but problems. He attempts a rematch against Shanks after his win over Big Mom thinking he's ready to take on an Emperor solo, yet he enters the fight completely unprepared and surrounded by Shanks' fleet, stubbornly refusing to back down even when Killer questions if this is a good idea. This costs him and his crew everything as Shanks easily defeats Kid after seeing the destruction Kid was about to cause and sinks him and his crew to the bottom of the ocean.
      • His refusal to make allies. Although Kid has a right to be so distrustful towards others after his previous alliance with Hawkins and Apoo, Kid's blatant regard towards his allies and Lack of Empathy towards others outside of his crew makes Kid unwilling to trust anyone ever again. Even after winning the Raid on Onigashima, Kid refuses to befriend anyone telling his crew to not get too close to the Straw Hats or their allies citing they are still their enemies. This proves to be his undoing, as he enters a fight against Shanks, outnumbered 9 to 1, and suffers a humiliating defeat with him and his crew being disbanded by force and knocking him out of the race to be Pirate King.
      • His heavy reliance on his Devil Fruit Powers and lack of usage of Haki. As while Kid has all three forms of Haki, he rarely is seen using them. Whereas most characters in the New World utilize this in efficient ways alongside their own Devil Fruit powers makes Kid lack in drawing out his full potential. Naturally, this is largely the reason he constantly loses in the New World and can't defeat the emperor's, who all have shown great mastery of Haki.
    • Tempting Fate: Upon arriving in Elbaf, Killer warns Kid that he lost his left arm to the Red Hair Pirates and didn't even see Shanks and that Kid could lose his life if he's not prepared. Kid however, cites that's only if he loses. Come chapter 1078 and that exactly happens, Kid was completely unprepared and Shanks easily defeats him and sinks his crew to the bottom of the ocean.

"And, outside of some minor wording and comma issues, it's alright? "

On several occasions, you split up a sentence into two sentences incorrectly.

...but outside of water they tend to be weaker <- no comma and their air force is one of the weakest.

The IPDI is a Glass Cannon that hits hard at long range, <- comma but their units are are slow and fragile.
