@ The Lost Fleet

  • Hufflepuff House:
    • Geary's battle cruisers, battleships, scout battleships, and auxiliaries get a fair amount of attention, but the assault transport, destroyer, heavy cruiser, and light cruiser squadrons are mostly just there to take up space and perform the occasional minor specialized function that the other ships are too big to do. The light cruiser and assault transport squadrons each only have one commander who actually gets a name (although both get some focus).
    • Of the four branches of the Alliance military, the aerospace forces are the smallest and least important. The Navy and the Alliance Marines are highly prominent throughout every book, and while the presence of the Marines keeps the protagonist from encountering too many ground forces troops, that branch has a few prominent characters who appear in the sequel series (such as General Charban, Colonel Webb, General Sissons, and General Julian). The aerospace fighter pilots, on the other hand, have only been represented by a few Spear Carriers amongst liberated POW and the Varandal security forces, and the Mauve Shirt Astrida System defense squadron from Steadfast.
  • Lower-Deck Episode: The spinoff comic Corsair (following escaped prisoners of war who missed most of the fleet's campaign) and the prequel short story "Ishigaki" (the sole story to date told from the POV of an enlisted sailor) both feature protagonists who are lower-ranking than the usual POV characters and have a more objective and curious view of Geary.

One Piece:

  • Dr. Vegapunk:
    • Create Your Own Villain: He created his six satellites, one of which, York, who represents his greedy side, betrays him to become a Celestial Dragon and being the main instigator of the Egghead Incident.
    • Didn't Think This Through:
      • Vegapunk may be a brilliant scientist, but he fails to think that his inventions would be use by others for evil purposes. Due to his pursuit for knowledge, Vegapunk didn't think that the Mother Flame would be used by Imu and destroy the Lulusia Kingdom, killing millions of innocent people and leaving an enormous hole where the island used to be.
      • He split himself up into six satellites of himself to expand his work. However, it never accorded to him that one of his satellites, who bears his own personalities, would likely betray him. York, who represents his greedy side, does just that and starts killing off his other satellites and rats him out to the Government in an effort to become a Celestial Dragon.
    • Fatal Flaw: Greed. Vegapunk has a lust for knowledge and furthering his own inventions and ideas. To that end he willingly joined the World Government in spite of the fact how disgusted he was with them destroying Ohara and killing his old friend Professor Clover. He desires strongly to fund his projects and overlooks how many of his inventions causes harm for others or the fact his desire to learn the Void Century marked him for death by the World Government. Ironically, his greed proved to be His Own Worst Enemy in the making of York, who represents his greedy side and betrays him and his other satellites in favor of herself.
    • His Own Worst Enemy: Literally. York, Vegapunk's greedy side, betrays him for her own selfish desires and kills off Shaka and Pythagoras.
    • Lack of Empathy: In spite of being portrayed as a benevolent figure, Vegapunk shows little care towards others aside from himself. He basically guilt trips Sentomaru in helping him fight off CP 0 by reminding him of the debt he owes Vegapunk. Even knowing how two of his satellites, who are his own personalities are killed because of York, Vegapunk shows little care over their deaths and focuses more in preserving his own life.
    • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: By creating the Mother Flame, Vegapunk basically made something that Imu intends to use to erase any kingdom in the world that is a threat to the Government. The Lulusia Kingdom was destroyed by the Mother Flame thanks to Vegapunk making the device. Granted there is the implication that this was Not the Intended Use for the weapon, but it still counts that Vegapunk made the weapon.
    • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Vegapunk has done a lot of morally grey actions, such as willingly working for the World Government, creating the Pacifistas, and the Seraphim based on the Warlords as children, but Vegapunk truly wants to do good and only joined the Government because he genuinely wants to make the world a better place with his genius.

VideoGame.Sonic Superstars:

  • The Bus Came Back: The multiplayer trailer shows that one of the playable robots in battle mode is Metal Knuckles, who, outside of comics, hasn't been featured in the games since he debuted in Sonic R back in 1997.

  • Green Hill Zone:
    • The first zone as shown in the trailers — Bridge Island — mixes this with Palmtree Panic, being an easygoing and relaxing tropical island with plenty of grassy hills, waterfalls and rainbows. It even uses the same checkerboard pattern that Green Hill uses for good measure.
    • The Trope Namer itself is one of the battle stages shown in the multiplayer trailer.

WebVideo.Spider Man Lotus

  • Adaptational Jerkass: While Peter Parker doesn't take Gwen's death well in the comics, this version of Peter Parker is far worst about it: beyond lashing out and being a jerk to his friends like in the comics, he walks away from a terminally ill child after throwing a fit at one point and uses several goons as human shields when fighting the Shocker, both of which are things canon Peter Parker, even at his lowest points, would never do.

YMMV.Sonic Superstars
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Stretching the definition of "character" in this case, but nobody within the fandom had expected the multiplayer trailer to reveal that Sonic's unused prototype rabbit design from the pre-development stages of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 would be included as a character skin in the digital deluxe edition.
    • The multiplayer trailer shows that Metal Knuckles is one of the playable robots, which took many fans by surprise since, outside of comics, Metal Knuckles has not been seen in the games since his debut appearance in 1997's Sonic R.note

One Piece: Monkey D. Luffy

  • Arch-Enemy: During his adventures, Monkey D. Luffy has encountered several individuals who have become his personal enemies, including those among the upper echelons of the world's most powerful forces: The Three Great Powers.
    • Marshall D. Teach, a.k.a. Blackbeard, who handed Luffy's brother Ace over to the Marines, leading to his death. Shortly before Ace's death, Luffy learned that Blackbeard, who he knew was responsible for Ace's capture, was the seemingly friendly man in Jaya, encouraging Luffy to pursue his dreams. Blackbeard rubbed salt into the wound by saying that if Ace hadn't fought him, Blackbeard would have gone after Luffy instead, provoking Luffy into attacking him until Jimbei reminds him that rescuing Ace is more important. After the Time Skip, Blackbeard further increases Luffy's animosity by making a failed attempt to take Ace's Devil Fruit, and later, by attacking the Revolutionary Army, which is run by Luffy's father, Dragon, and has Luffy's other brother, Sabo, as a member. This is reinforced by the fact that Blackbeard is Luffy's Evil Counterpart and Shadow Archetype, as both of them place a high value on dreams, despite having vastly different morals, and both of them are competing the become King of the Pirates.
    • Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, previously known as Admiral Akainu, dealt a fatal blow to Ace, leaving Luffy with a permanent X-shaped scar on his torso and crushing his spirit. This was a feat previously only accomplished by Bartholomew Kuma.
    • Kaido, a notorious pirate emperor whom Luffy was preparing to defeat ever since he allied himself with Law at Punk Hazard. Kaido hates Luffy for destroying his SMILE business, to the point where he refuses to let Big Mom kill Luffy. Luffy, in turn, hates Kaido for the suffering he caused to the Mink Tribe and the people of Wano. During their first physical confrontation, Kaido defeats Luffy and sends him to a Hellhole Prison, hoping to break his spirit and turn him into a minion. Their feud culminates with the Raid on Onigushima, which results in Luffy awakening his Devil Fruit, defeating Kaido, and taking his place as one of the Four Emperors.
    • Charlotte Linlin, a.k.a. Big Mom, comes into conflict with Luffy after he ate candy meant for her. Big Mom later attempts to force Luffy's friend Sanji to marry her daughter with the intention of killing him at the wedding. Luffy travels to Big Mom's territory, Totto Land, where he defeats her Co-Dragons Cracker and Katakuri, helps foil her plan to kill Sanji and his family, and escapes her territory with a copy of her Poneglpyh, humiliating her greatly. A vengeful Big Mom pursues Luffy to Wano with the intention of killing him.
    • Donquixote Doflamingo is one of the Seven Warlords. Luffy indirectly conflicts with him multiple times. Luffy defeats Doflamingo's subordinate, Bellamy, and punches a Celestial Dragon, causing Doflamingo to abandon his slave-trading business and leading to the Straw Hats Pirates' disbandment for two years. After the Time Skip, Luffy allies with Doflamingo's vengeful ex-subordinate Law, and they capture Caesar Clown, jeopardizing Doflamingo's SMILE production and his alliance with Kaido. During the Dressrosa arc, Doflamingo manipulates Luffy by using the Devil Fruit of Luffy's late brother Ace. By the end of the Dressrosa arc, Luffy despises Doflamingo for the suffering he caused the people of Dressrosa in general and Rebecca, who he befriended, in particular.
    • Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords, inflicted great suffering upon the homeland of Vivi, Luffy's Honorary True Companion. He also nearly killed Luffy multiple times. Despite being forgiving and even aiding some of his enemies, such as Buggy and Mr. 3, Luffy refused to forgive Crocodile and attempted to keep him locked in Impel Down, only being persuaded to let him out by Ivankov.
    • Rob Lucci, a Cipher Pol agent who frames the Straw Hat Pirates for the attempted murder of Iceburg, takes Nico Robin to Enies Lobby, leading to the incident where Luffy declares war on the World Government. Luffy and Lucci fight each other during the Enies Lobby incident, with Luffy barely emerging victorious. When Luffy and Lucci meet again on Egghead, Lucci fights Luffy, who is now one of the Four Emperors, in defiance of the World Government's orders.

  • Big Good: As Luffy's combat and leadership skills grow, so does his influence, unintentionally creating The Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He has led prominent operations including attacking Enies Lobby, overthrowing Doflamingo, and raiding Onigashima. His ascension to Emperor of the Sea has certified him as a leading figure in the Pirate World.

  • Difficult, but Awesome: Following his consumption of the Gum-Gum Fruit, Luffy was bestowed with the extraordinary power of the Devil Fruit. As a result, his body became rubberized to such an extent that it was initially difficult for him to control and maneuver during his training sessions with Ace and Sabo. Nevertheless, through his unwavering determination, years of practice, countless battles and boundless imagination, Luffy was able to surpass the limitations of his newfound abilities. He went on to achieve the seemingly impossible feat of acquiring what many consider to be "the most preposterous power in the world."

There don't appear to be any English mistakes in those sentences.

However, the second one is by itself at the second level of indentation, which violates Example Indentation in Trope Lists.

Also, you have both Comic Book and Western Animation examples in the same media section, which is not correct.

@ The Lost Fleet: Alliance Fleet

    Captain Petra Bai
One of Rogov's subordinates, who commands the latest ship to bear the unlucky name Invincible.
  • Just Following Orders: She will argue in favor of genocidal and suicidal war plans or shooting at her own allies simply because orders are orders.
  • Token Evil Teammate: She is the only captain in Rogov’s fleet who refuses to desert General Julian's sinister cause under any circumstances, even when he orders her to shoot at her own defecting comrades. She ends up being relieved of command in an Anti-Mutiny.

Commanders Thalente Hasan and Banoy Genji
The first of Rogov’s captains to question his Blind Obedience arguments.
  • Noble Bigot: Most people in their task force were recruited due to having varying degrees of xenophobic distaste for the Dancers, but Hasan and Genji they realize they have been lied to about Geary knowing about and approving of Julian's campaign of conquest, they show some concern and suspicion, which gets them illegally relieved of command. After being reinstated, Hasan still shows some concern about the idea of aliens having unrestricted access to human space but appears placated after hearing that the aliens seemingly want to stay in their own area of space.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Hasan only has three scenes and eight lines in Implacable, while Genji has one scene and three lines, but their arrests at the orders of General Julian play a huge role in pushing most of the fleet into agreeing with Geary that the general is acting illegally
  • Thrown from the Zeppelin: In a nonfatal version, they are the first commanders of the new ships to question the validity of their orders during a fleet conference, and Julian has them arrested on the spot. Unusually for the trope, this serves to (quickly and drastically) undermine the cause of the person punishing their defiance rather than strengthening their Bad Boss.

@ One Crazy Summer:

  • The abruptly shocking way that the first cartoon Hoops is drawing has the protagonist yank out a machine gun and start shooting at a bunch of "cute and fuzzy bunnies."
  • An invitation to go to the beach and look for shells leaves the main character freaked out once he gets there and learns that the "shells" are unexploded military ordinance.
  • While trying to get out of a Godzilla costume, Egg accidentally tramples the Big Bad's real-estate diorama, with a Japanese investor thinking it is All Part of the Show.

@ Psych

Why wasn't Betty killed instead of or along with Bianca in "Scary Sherry: Bianca's Toast?"
  • Sure, Alice had reason to hate Bianca, but her spying showed her that Betty was just as complicit in Doreen's death as Bianca and was less remorseful. Nonetheless, Alice spends days tormenting Bianca before killing her (and then trying to kill undercover new sorority member Jules despite her having only arrived after Doreen died). Even if she was planning to kill Betty before she got arrested, it seems odd that she left Betty alone with her "Scooby-Doo" Hoax while putting Bianca through borderline mental torture before killing her.

How was Lucy able to contort her body so well without training in "The Devil's in the Details...And the Upstairs Bedroom"?
Her mother specifically says that Lucy has no experience with yoga or gymnastics, and an internet search suggests it would take weeks to master those moves. It would be deliciously ironic if she really was possessed by a demon the one time Shawn is a completely inflexible Agent Scully, only with her possession causing her to commit the crimes against poor Agatha rather than beginning after Agatha died.

@ The Birth of a Nation (2016)

  • Females Are More Innocent: Adult male members of slave-owning families are uniformly Hate Sinks or prone to Slowly Slipping Into Evil, while the three most notable female ones (Samuel's mother and sister, and a woman Nat speaks to during a visit to town) tend to get Pet the Dog moments. That being said, several unnamed white women are shown baying for Nat's blood after his failed rebellion.
  • Karma Houdini: Venal Sinister Minister Reverend Walthall and particularly cruel slave owners Earl Fowler and Joseph Randall all seem to come out of Nat's rebellion unharmed.
  • Slowly Slipping Into Evil: Samuel inherits a slave plantation during his Used to Be a Sweet Kid phase and keeps the slaves in bondage as he grows up, but initially has elements of a Sympathetic Slave Owner. Then he takes money to have Nat preach cherry-picked Bible verses about obedience to slaves on cruelly-run plantations. He initially seems disturbed by what he sees but then continues doing business with those plantation owners and begins making Wants a Prize for Basic Decency comments about the privileges he gives his slaves. Then, he lets a guest rape one of his slaves while her husband watches helplessly. He then goes on to have Nat whipped within an inch of his life for giving him a What the Hell, Hero? over his hypocrisy. By the final act, the only remotely sympathetic aspect of Samuel's current personality is that his constant drinking may signify remorse for his misdeeds.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Three slave rebels are shown alive in the aftermath of a cannon being shot at the armory, but one of them promptly vanishes as Nat comforts a dying Hark and then escapes a few seconds later.

@ Slave Liberation

  • In the short story "Death of a Social Climber" (collected in the Hy Conrad mystery anthology Historical Whodunits), the wife of a Roman nobleman keeps trying to free enslaved cook Norteo out of gratitude for the delicious meals he makes for important social events, but her cold-hearted husband keeps overruling her on that matter until his murder, after which she immediately frees Norteo. Her son also offers another slave, Moderatus, his freedom if he can exonerate the family and honors his promise after Moderatus proves that an outsider committed the murder.

@ Babylon 5

  • In the non-canon novel Voices, Londo is peeved when a Psi Corps conference shuts down the station's gambling tables due to all telepaths being banned from gambling due to their potential to cheat. Then, realizing that many telepaths likely chafe at obeying a rule like that, he tempts several of them into a card game that he covertly has Garibaldi tape. The threat of being accused of failing to stop his subordinates from seemingly fleecing a prominent diplomat gives Bester a crash course in "Blackmail" Is Such an Ugly Word when he tries scapegoating Talia for a disaster.
