The trope is about the mentality itself. A character who believes him to be a god, or even simply on part with gods) qualifies. It's not exactly the action of proclaiming it.
I have a message from another time...Okay, well in that case I think it would be hard to show someone thinking he is a god without falling into the JAFAAC territory. Maybe we should just leave this trope picture-less? Mentality and thoughts are not something that we can represent visually. Quote might be better to exemplifie the trope in that case.
Cause really, all I see is a guy holding a black ball which could be the world if I squint hard enough. The quote make it a bit clearer, but still not totally.
I don't know... I've never watched Death Note and I still think it's a good example, though that may be because I hear about it so much on this wiki.
"Holding the world in my hands" is one of the lines I can usually remember hearing by any villain who falls under A God Am I
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - Charlatan^^ This one is not bad, but a bit lackluster.
^I agree that holding the world in you hand is often associated with such character but the problem with the image is that he seems to offer it to me rather firmly holding it, and it only vaguely ressemble the world for me. At first I thought it was a swirly energy thingie. It's the caption that told me it was the world. If it was blue on the other hand.
I don't know the series, but I do like the current picture. I does capture the mentality this trope is about very well, IMHO.
Okay, then it seems its just me. That's okay, I retract it. Let's keep that one.
Maybe we can change the caption to make it a bit clearer?
I got the trope almost imedately, and I only know of Death Note as "some anime show Jason told me was less than stellar."
In the beginning there was nothing, and it exploded. Terry Pratchett 35 tropes so far.It took me a few seconds to get the pic because the planet in his hand doesn't really look like Earth, and more like some asteroid to me.
I think it's good enough, though.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I have never seen Death Note but the pic really explains the trope IMO.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I haven't the foggiest idea where the image comes from, but I think it works OK. He's got a planet in his hand, which is a pretty godlike thing to do.
There might be better images out there, but this one's all right.
Jet-a-Reeno!Having never seen the anime in question, the current image makes perfect sense. I say leave it.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI haven't seen Death Note either, though I am well aware of what it is about.
That being said, I can barely recognize just who the character is supposed to be. The caption's bearing most of the work here.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I really like the current picture. I don't know who he is, but I can't picture anything better to illustrate this trope than a man dressed in casual clothes any average person would wear with the whole world in his hands. It's totally perfect!
@Stratadrake Why does recognizing the name of the character matter in a page image? It gets the point across nevertheless.

... maybe we could use one of M. Bison magnetically levitating himself?
Even though I've seen the anime, the current pic kind of reminds me of the devil tempting Jesus by offering him the kingdoms of the world... I still say it works, if only for that reason.

But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold. It's all words. The image does nothing. It might as well be a page quote.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI'm perfectly happy with the current image.
Fight smart, not fair.@Crowley: I said nothing about the name, I'm talking about identifying him by appearance. I hover my mouse cursor over it and see the link to Death Note, put two and two together and surmise that it must (probably) be Light Yagami. Without that, I'm left thinking "who is this redhead?"

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up....why does this matter?
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.@Stratadrake If anything, that's an argument in the image's favor because, as shown earlier in the thread, even people completely unaware of Death Note can understand it and its connection to the trope.

Like I said in the psot title, I have a hard time to understand how the image exemplifies the tropes. Yes, I know it's a very well known and very beloved series, and I know I'm gonna get hated for this, but I don't know that series and I would not understand the picture if it weren't for the caption. So okay this is the world he has in his hand, I guess, and not a swirly ball of black energy. But how does anything in this image shows he's proclaiming to be a god? When I think about someone saying "A God am I", I usually see him shouting at the sky, arms extended. Or maybe I don't understand the trope, but from what I gather, it's a trope about a certain kind of Villainous Badass Boast.
Anyway, I don't anything to suggest better at the moment, but I'll look for something this afternoon. Maybe a picture of Jafar just as he get changed into a genie?
What do you think
