I don't know about setting off volcanoes; that seems a bit sci-fi for this franchise. The chance of an eruption should scale by game years only, and that seems fine. You don't want everything to be player-controlled.
While Hungary has benefits from alliances, those only seem to work towards making them more warlike. I don't see "peaceful" as a trait that I would assign to a civilization whose primary focus is on massing armies of city-state units and sweeping across the map.
Edited to add: Hungary's Thermal Bath is a Zoo replacement, right?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I was aware, but we have Videogame Cruelty Punishment so I was wondering if we had a "good" counterpart to that.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Yeah, the video said so.
And yeah, Hungary seems like primarily a warlike civ. I guess if you're going for Domination with them, you conquer everyone you're not allied with in mid-game with your levies and Hussars, which would give you enough of a boost to conquer everyone else in the late game.
And you're bound to go to war against Pericles or Barbarossa at some point.
Spiral out, keep going.Odd that they are adding a 21st century era but are still adding historical civs.
I wonder if Japan or the US are getting reworks.
From a quick look at her Wikipedia page, it seems Kristina was also a very devoted patron of the arts and sciences. She's probably a good fit for a Culture/Science-focused Civ.
Putting modern leaders in the game is always going to be way more controversial than historical ones.

Not leaders per say but effects. Each civ is best in a specific era and with a new late game stage it’s going to feel rather samey if some countries don’t have stuff that change it.
You can go full environmental despot to your enemies iirc.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Sweet. This seems to be the "quirky one" like Venice was. Polynesia in general is cool.
Also predicting much memes from Kupe's hammy hand gestures.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Oh dear,I can already see problems emerging, especially if you play on a map with no water
They had something similar in Alpha centuri's expansion pack as I recall
New theme music also a boxI think there will always be one tile of water wherever the Mayori spawn in no water maps.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I'm guessing this means the rumors were true.
So Canada incoming, then!
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Christ, the Maori look insanely good.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Another seafaring and exploration based Polynesia civ coming out just as the World Congress is implemented?
All jokes aside, this might be my favorite new Civ overall - I like playing in, if not necessarily small island maps, maps with a healthy mix of water and land.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I've not played this game in ages but did they ever fix the freeze bug when you tried to exit the game?
New theme music also a boxYeah, that got fixed a couple of patches ago.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Cool, might give the game a go now
New theme music also a boxThey can't declare surprise wars nor be surprise war'd. Is it me or does that mean their early game is completely secure save for barbarians?
How do lizards fly?Everyone is going to gang up and nuke Canada

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."That leak's now three for three.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."The leak about Canada comes true. I guess that leak is genuine at this point. Canada's unique stuff is pretty humorous and interesting. Ice hockey rink? Mounties that get stronger when fighting near national park? I'm laughing hard when I see it all.
I'm not as witty as I think I am. It's a scientifically-proven fact.
Video Game Caring Potential is the trope name.
Also, you can very much be a dick as well, by intentionally heating up the world while being holed up in the Artic regions, and I'm certain there will be a way to set off volcanoes, change geography with tech, etc.
