ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOI had the following weird chain reaction of earworms just now. Someone referenced "For What It's Worth"
, which sort of made me think of Skee-lo slightly misquoting it in "I Wish"
, which in turn brought in "(Hey You) What's That Sound?"
, which samples said misquotation. And yeah, despite looking and sounding very 80's, that last one is from 1999.
A little while later, Phineas Gage was sitting on his bed
He told the doctor the tamping rod had shot right through his head
But the doctor could not believe what Phineas said
For if that were the case, he surely would be dead...
Well, the doctor told the family to prepare for Phineas' death
'Cause the one you take before your head gets stabbed is usually your last breath
But a few months after the accident, he walked right down his stair
As if having lost a quarter of his brain had left him no worse for wear...
Oh, this is the story of Phineas Gage, who was stabbed in the brain
And once your frontal lobe has been destroyed, you can never go home again...

Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could drink you under the table~Something like “I go in, I come out but how well I come out by going in.” It’s kind of idiomatic and thus hard to translate to English.
Here’s all the Skála Coop (defunct Hungarian department store) commercials featuring the Skála Kópé character in a better image transfer
. He’s a little creepy (mainly because of the crude animation) but the cosmic synthesizer music (at least in the first two ads) is just totally hypnotic.
Back on the subject of Current Earworm:
"Dare" and "The Touch" by Stan Bush. I think I'm just in a 80's mood lately.
I think the people behind Transformers expected New Divide to be the new anthem of the series. I don't see that happening.
I blame the cleverbot thread
:
Warning: the music video is actually slightly creepy. Just slightly though. If you could handle "Fish Men", you're fine.

Kind of out of nowhere, I got this obscure Beck song I've only heard once stuck in my head. Mostly "take me out to dinner, I'm a loser, I'm a winner, I'm a sucker, I'm a sinner, won't you take me out to dinner".
I think I read somewhere that he did this (or at least the chaotic bit at the end) by recording himself playing guitar on cassette, then playing back that cassette on a stereo while recording himself playing along with it, and so on. I pretty much did that all the time when I first started making music. It's sort of a fun, no-budget way to multi-track so long as you kinda want the end result to be a complete murky mess.

The nice little break at the end of Luna, by Fanfarlo.
This song, because of its use in Lord Of War. Gave me the giggles, the shivers and a faint case of nausea all at the same time. Excellent use of Soundtrack Dissonance.

If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~
