I was pointing out the fact that it had an extremely varried climate, Catfish. You also forgot that Kilimanjaro is here; now I'm starting to wonder if The Lion King was meant to be set here...

anyway, I've got all the info that I need for the African Resistance; I'll be ready to start as soon as the thread is up.

EDIT: I have now concocted a name for this resistance—the African Resistance & Emancipation Movement (or in French, le Mouvement pour l’Émancipation et la Libération des Peuples Africains).

Would you say that Kilimanjaro makes an excellent "landing base" for the Nazis?

I think it would, at that. They'd probably use their occult technology to convert the entire mountain into an actual base of operations.

As for the Resistance, I think they'll be nomadic in true guerilla fashion, having a mobile home base and a decentralized command structure. As for the name I concocted and why it's also in French, keep in mind that the UK was far from the only power interested in colonizing Africa during the 19th century; thanks to the French, a lot of African groups speak French. Plus, the idea of an African Resistence implies that it is a unified front, and I wanted the bilingual name to reflect that.

Any Boers? Also, what mythics do you have in mind? Are we going to have "Machine Spirits"?

Possibly. The problem here is that the Boers—the historical ones, at least—were confined to the Transvaal and the Orange free State, which is quite a ways from Zanzibar. Still, not going to rule out that possibility just yet...

As for the mythics, the people of Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia (the Tumbuka) practiced a monotheistic religion centered an omnipotent rain and fertility god called Chiuta, as well as three animal spirits: hulu the wise tortoise, chimbwe the evil hyena, and kalulu the Magnificent Bastard hare. While this clearly limits my options, remember that the African Resistance & Emancipation Movement is a pan-continental thing; I'll be calling on other African powers, like the loa or Sundiata Keita, the Mali culture hero.

As for the Machine Spirits...yes, I think that would work. thank you for pointing that lovely piece of WH 40 K lore out to me, Colonial.

Having checked, it seems the Nile doesn't go as far as Tanzania, so I'll scrap the plans for an Egyptian god. (Though if the conflict should shift to Egypt, hint hint...)

However, I'll need a coastal terrain for my character's introduction (He's not from continental Africa per se, you see...).

^ It is pretty much a given at this point that we'll start at a coastal area.

Should we update the SVN recap on the sign-up thread to include what is going on in the latest arc, shouldn't we?

Probably a good idea. Should I do that or does somebody else wish to take a stab?

Edit: Also, the AVA recap needs more work.

I'll take a stab at it, unless you want to. I agree about the AVA recap.

Looks good. When's the Africa thread starting?

(As I don't know how often I'll be able to participate, if at all, starting Wednesday.)

I am sorry about the AVA recap. I just can't seem to keep all the details straight.

I think we have enough information here to start the thread, I think. Should we start it once the Ark's location is revealed in SVN?

Added Hecate to the character sheet. I'll wrap up the battle in SVN soon, so we can get the Africa thread going.

Good job with the Hecate entry, Axes.

Don't worry—this last section of SVN won't take long to complete. Assuming we wrap it up quickly, we can start playing the Africa thread as early as...tomorrow morning, I think.

should we put something in the sign-up thread saying that if they want to join, now would be the time?
