Looking back, I can kind of see why it didn't happen the first time around. Huey and to a lesser extent Jasmine (but mostly Huey) both got some of Caesar's traits in the show, so Huey no longer really needed the kind of foil Caesar provided - still, I could've seen him coming in after Season 1, but as the show went on the dynamic got more and more centered around Huey, Granddad and Riley to the point where there wasn't any more space for Caesar any more.
But luckily this is a reboot, so they could totally reimagine the characters and their dynamics enough that that isn't a problem this time.

Plus it really hit Granddad hard with the flanderization.
I mean sure Riley was always a self-dangerous idiot but Granddad really become an utterly unlikable and moronic prick by the last season.
Real far cry from the guy who developed genuine love for a prostitute and protected her from her A Pimp Named Slickback.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm kinda hoping that The Boondocks reboot well be much less of a wacky sitcom with flanderized protagonists, and more like a dramedy series where the main characters and their conflicts are treated just a bit more seriously (though of course while still retaining the irreverent and satirical sense of humor from the original show).
I think I'd prefer a middle ground on that one. Some of the over the top shit in the show was part of it's charm, but it does need to dial back the flanderization by.........well alot, and the less said about Season 4 (Sans the Stinkmeiner episode, which I feel actually ended the Stinkmeiner arc damn near perfectly by FINALLY ending the cycle with Peace, Just like how Huey said was the only way.).
Sanity is the Lie, there is only Madness.Yet more evidence
that we need Ceasar
in the new show.

Ed Asner, voice of Ed Wuncler I, has died at age 91.
So Charlie Murphy, John Witherspoon, and Ed Asner are all gone now. They will be missed.

One of my Discords pointed out that this reboot had a 3DCG test pitch, at some point, posted around January 2021. Starting around 0:49, we see a very Spider-Verse inspired recreation of the original intro's visuals. This is a part of a demo reel for a Canadian-based studio known as IoM Media
(Island of Misfits), which worked on projects like Inspector Gadget (2015) for WildBrain.

Back in 2019, didn't they announce that the reboot series would premiere in 2020? Imagine if that original plan happened on schedule, then we'd probably be getting a significantly different show than whatever's coming out in 2022. Something tells me that they're going to update the satirical plotlines to include references to COVID and Biden's administration.
