Hey fellow tropers! It's Halloween, and I decided to make a thread to post your opinions of the BEST and WORST Halloween specials! Go now, revel in your childhood nostalgia!

  • Best: Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Cute, funny, sweet, and memorable, this is pretty much a classic.

  • Worst: Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy. It's like those stupid "non-believer" Christmas specials, only IN HALLOWEEN FORM!

    • As an added bonus, read this Made Of Win blog of the 16 worst candies. I'm sure you'll sympathize, as we all hated Necco Wafers as a kid.

The Halloween Tree. I watched this every Halloween when I was a kid, and I think this is where my fear of people turning into trees came from. The kid's face on a pumpkin... *shudder*

Hocus Pocus isn't exactly a Halloween special, but they play it almost exclusively during Halloween, so I'll count it.

The Buffy episode where they turn into whatever costume they're wearing.

The Simpsons are obviously the clear cut winners in this area. Nothing can beat the classic Treehouse of Horror episodes for Halloween wise. Also, every episode of Courage The Cowardly Dog deserves to be here.

Movie Wise, I'd like to say The Nightmare Before Christmas but that's moreover a Christmas movie than anything else (admit it, you know it's true). Tim Burton's Sleep Hollow, Beetle Juice and Ed Wood I feel are the staple Halloween movies. Also, Wallace And Gromit The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is very Halloweeny.

I would put scary halloween movies. but sadly, they're movies.

I really enjoyed the Treehouse of Horror specials. (though i feel they've lost there quality some time ago. so i always enjoy the ol' ones.

My name remains a mystery to us all.

Halloween is Grinch Night!

If only for the wonderfully disturbing Deranged Animation of the Disney Acid Sequence.

I put forth Beavis And Butthead: Buttoween as one of the best, if only for the fact that it still scares me.

Chainsaw Good quite averted to me. *shudder*

I'm also a relative fan of the The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy Jacked Up Halloween Special. It's probably the darkest of all Billy and Mandy cartoons, and I love Jack O Lantern's over the top acting.

It's hard for me to think of "worst" Halloween Specials. Usually with shows that I watch if they even have a Halloween Episode, then it easily becomes one of my favorite eps.

I forget which Treehouse of Horror it was, but I gotta vote for the one where Willy keeps getting an axe in the back. "Ach, I'm bad at this."

I must say I liked Invader Zim best. I suppose its only natural, considering the rest of the show.

Danny Phantom had a great one. It didn't drop all plot for the sake of a holiay special, and it was all the better for it.

Charlie Brown is always a classic too.

We're going to spread this shit like Nutella.

Wait... was the DP one the one with the Fright Knight's first appearance? I loved that one. The end was a little cheesy, but it was still pretty cool.

The best has to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer "Halloween". That and "Hocus Pocus" is this troper's essential Halloween viewing.

The worst is also Buffy - "All the Way". It's not that Halloweeny, and it's a Dawn episode. Shudder.
