Laughably Evil

Just A Face. And a rather weak depiction of the Joker, at that. There are dozens and dozens of better pictures of the Joker out there.

Unfortunately, there are surprisingly few pictures of the Joker laughing on Google. The best one is already used on The Killing Joke.

Of course, we don't have to use the Joker for this page. Could be another villain.

Any suggestions?

I like that one. I certainly like it better, and think it''s a better image for the page that any of the darker, scarier Jokers.

Remember, the trope isn't about laughing villains, it's about funny villains. The picture from Killing Joke wouldn't fit at all.

The current picture is more pathetic laughable than funny laughable to me. =\ Of course, I haven't seen that particular TV series so I can't say how accurate my impression is.

If you compare him to the rebooted, Darker and Edgier Joker, the tv version would probably come across as pathetic. However, the whole show was silly, rather than scary; the Joker was the most threatening of a pretty much harmless lot of villains and he was still more comic than "dangerous". But personally, I don't find the evil of the darker Jokers "laughable" at all.

Before I leave for the night I felt I should point out that I didn't think that the Killing Joke picture would have fit - just that it was the best available image of the Joker in a "laughing" context I could find.

I think the best direction to go with this trope is to show a villain laughing or telling a joke (which may be reaching dangerously far into telling vs. showing).

I think a good picture of the Joker (as opposed to the current one) would be ideal. You don't really have to know him, you just need to see that it's an evil clown. That's a pretty literal (in a good way) illustration of the trope.

We should probably try to avoid confusion with Monster Clown.

I agree that, if enough people don't like this pic, we could definitely find something from BTAS.

There's a nice pic of Joker pulling a goofy looking but very dangerous bomb out of his hat.

Gets the idea of evil + funny better than I could've reasonably expected.

Anything with a bit less shadow, just enough to see the outline of the head?

Not anything I got. Took that (From Batman Beyond Return Of The Joker) coz I liked the menacing black shape, red eyes, contrasted with the silly "Bang!" gun.

Also, since you can't see the Joker all that well, no risk of confusing it with Monster Clown.

Found a better quality version of the image, and it's exactly 330 pixel wide

The colors a clearer too so you better see his outline

Hm, sorry I was misunderstanding the trope. Okay, the Batman Beyond pic is good.

I read this thread, and then while doing something completely other I saw this (warning: large). Would need to be smaller.

We could also go for the STAS version of Toyman, though he may fall under the category of Laughably Terrifying.
