Yeah, it was pretty hilarious. In retrospect, kind of glad that they didn't go with a «hero is a dick» plot as expected.

But yeah, it was pretty awesome. Nothing compared to How To Train Your Dragon, but still awesome.

There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. You have to admit though, what kind of hero was Metro Man to retire like that leaving the city in the hands of Megamind before his Heel–Face Turn? I mean I half expected more criminals to come out of the wood work to loot the town.
Just saw them movie and it is fantastic. I am wholly impressed. I thought I was going to have a reason to hate the 3D, but I didn't , it as beautiful and it worked to adding to the movie's visual depth.
However, I am most surprised by... Will Ferrel. I hate him. So very very much. Every time I see him "act" I feel like I need to reach into my body and pull my heart out so i won't have to endure it anymore.
But this proves that either he's either hiding his voice talent or he's been type-casted for years.
When All Else Fails, you have fun and flirt wit da ladies, dats da Drawings way!I didn't like it. I was hoping for a Dark Knight-type premise along with a hero who's just as bad as Megamind (the trailers gave me an idea that Metroman was a self-centered jerkass who worshipped himself as a god). Instead, I got Monsters vs. Aliens 2 with a just as dumb alien.
And why doesn't Megamind do anything when has the chance. If he had wanted Roxy that bad, wouldn't he had just killed her in the beginning and kept the corpse around for his pleasure?
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Because in case you couldn't tell, he was never actually evil, just a guy who thought he couldn't do anything right and went the other way but not the whole way. I mean keep in mind he was doing this whole gig becuase he hated Metroman, not becuase he felt like destroying the world.
When All Else Fails, you have fun and flirt wit da ladies, dats da Drawings way!But if he hated Metroman so much, would he want to make his life an absolute hell or kill him off? It's just not fun to have a villain who doesn't even try or gets defeated easily.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Every once in a while, Will Ferrell does a role that reveals he really does have talent. Than he goes back to the same role he always plays.
Kill all math nerdsWill Ferrell has Everything Must Go coming out, which is supposed to be a major dramatic turn for him.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I just noticed that while Hal/Tighten is more of a villain then Megamind, Megamind is more of a hero then Metro Man. Think about it, for Metro Man, being a hero was relatively easy as he was invulnerable. It was only his wanting his own life that made him quit. While Megamind had to face a truly deadly and powerful threat, albeit one of his own making, and beat it without that same power.
I enjoyed it, but the point of the film was that it was a subversion of the hero-villian story. Except they never set it up our expectation that it will be a straight story. So instead of a subversion of the hero-villian story, we got a bog standard 'hero becomes better person and gets the girl story'.
Aside from that it was a good film. I especially liked that I couldn't tell it was Will Ferral until I saw the credits, though that's probably just me. I dislike a lot of animated films where a voice actor voices, well, themselves.

I've had the luxury of watching this film on repeat several days since it came out on DVD at Blockbuster and I noticed two things:
- No one notices when Minion drives off with Roxanne in the invisible car.
- The baby and its family are seen several times in the film.
I'm sure there were more, I'll just have to pay attention next time we have it on.
Two things: 1) even though I think Titan/Tighten got what he deserved, even I felt bad when I saw him looking at Roxanne and Bernard/Megamind in the resturant. 2) I think the music choices fit Megamind transition from Villain to Hero. At first we hear Bad To The Bone, which suits his evil persona, then at the end we get MJ's Bad which is a reference to the fact that while he's a hero know he's bad in the good way.
I liked this movie. One thing I found especially interesting is that if you pay attention to Roxanne, you'll notice that her actions steadily began changing the alignment of the characters.
When she loved Megamind, he was on the verge of becoming a hero. When she didn't love Hal, he went nuts and became a villain.
The focus of her love was the driving force for the morality of the others. I thought that was particularly deep for a Dream Works movie.
I'm just curious: if Despicable Me has a Complete Monster and it's Miss Hattie, how about Titan for this movie? I mean, he did all the bad things just out of spite from being rejected.
Well, it's clearly Disproportionate Retribution.

But that is a very cynical and mean spirited way to look at it.

This is the funniest movie I've ever seen and one of the most amazing.
