And now I'm drinking more of it, in the hopes that it will eventually stop tasting like battery acid. What is wrong with me

Have you tried it with milk? Purists will hate your guts, but it's softer and easy on the throat.

Cider and perry don't get nearly enough love, in my opinion.

Cider is very situational, and some people disregard it altogether for being sweet. The low alchoholic content (or none, depending on the brand) and sweetness make it great as a "gateway" (I hate the terrible connotations this word has acquired) drink.

I haven't had it often enough, but I think dry cider tends to be nicer than the sweet kind, actually.

Cider is good stuff, though it so reminds me of illicit drinking in secondary school with two-liter plastic bottles of some crap off-brand cider in the field behind school. I was, what, fifteen? The age for it.

I am, by the way, drunk as fuck.

Gin and tonic and then my wife's Long Island Iced Tea recipe, with lemons from our garden. It's of ... military strength.

Why am I so amazingly jubilant then? I haven't felt quite so perfect in a long, long time. Who says alcohol can't solve my problems?
Well, just to be the pessimist then that's probably because you were... well... drunk. Alcohol seldom solves any problems, it just makes you forget them and puts you in a state where you don't care.

And cider is lovely, whether it's of high percentage or not. Nothing better than cold cider on a hot summerday!

Nah, that's not it. His night didn't turn out like he wanted it to, but it still sounds entertaining. You don't need to get a date every time you go out on the town to have fun.

Challenge: Bottle of vodka. 24 hours to drink it without passing out. Must not mix with anything.

Yikes. Well, good luck with your extra 1600 calories today. Though, if you pace yourself well, that shouldn’t be too difficult.

I've seen people drink entire bottles of liquor before. The results were not pretty.

Damn forgot there was such a thread last night. Had 2 Guinesses and a shot or two of rum and a shit-ton of junk food to try to drown my sorrows. Am now hungover from the junk food.

^^ Two completely different tastes, honestly. I’m personally a red-man myself (Oh Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin, you’ll never let me down, will you?)

Whites are a bit crisper and not nearly as heavy on the pallet. These guys make pretty decent white wine. If a fruiter wine is your game, I found that most German Rieslings are a good bet (I have one at home, but can’t remember the name, feel free to PM me if you’d like take a look when I get home).

I read this in the voice of Morpheus giving that speech about the agents.

Getting tipsy. Had a guiness at home, at a bar on the patio now, had a rum and coke, now having a nice summer lager of a local brand. Whee.

@Nyktos: Wait, aren't you like fifteen or something? Not that there's anything objectionable in that, but it's certainly strange.

Someone take the burden of choice away from me. I have just about every major liquor you can by, some red wine, some white wine, and a few beers. What shall I drink?

Some good red wine can't go amiss, that's for sure.

I have a giant gin and tonic right now. Bombay Sapphire and whatever.

Does Bombay Sapphire make good gin? I saw that in a friend's cupboard the other day.

You know what I mean by "good" gin.

I thought Bombay Sapphire was most famous for their Gin.

And yes, they’re definitely one of the top brands.

Also Gin and Tonic was good choice. I even had a lime in the fridge!

Thanks Morven.

Bombay Sapphire is one of the good gins, a species which has become rather greater in number in recent years. It has a sweeter, flowerier note to its botanicals than many do, which some like and some don't. Two of the ingredients are angelica and iris root, and you can tell.

A brighter future for a darker age.
