Japan absolutely destroyed Beast Wars in their dub, in a reverse Macekre. That was hardly the only thing they messed up, purposefully or not.
They probably thought a boy would sell more toys.
You are not alone.
Considering their hasty attempt to Hide Your Gays and then later abandoning their attempt at censorship, they probably didn’t even know Airazor was a girl until the Tigatron subplot came on.
This makes me want more Transformers with beast heads RID 2015 was a step in the right direction.

SKREEEEEEEONK!Yeah, I was wondering if that was supposed to be intentional or some sort of reference or something.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy@Handsome Rob: In regards to if Toys are being made for kids or collectors. Little bit of both. The Earthrise line is definitely digging deep into the nostalgia for adult collectors. They've even got exclusive figures online only (like how Gundam does their p-bandai) so you can get characters like Black Rorichi or God Neptune, characters only adults would really want.
But it's still a toyline, made and marketed for kids. The WFC line isn't the Masterpiece line with its complexities and fragilities. The toys are meant to be played with (quality control may vary). Cyberverse toyline is definitely marketed for young kids with its gimmicks and simplicities. WFC is all ages though comfortably for kids.
Honestly, what impresses me is how some of the toys really do come close to matching their animated counterparts.
Barring the whole boys don't want girls toys attitude that kept her from getting a toy during the original series run, I always assumed Arcee would be impossible to include because she didn't look like she could believably transform into her car form from her robot form.
Animated Arcee fixed that (and having recently watched the the two part finale of Animated recently, I realize her toy is even more accurate to her animation model than I thought), but I assumed we'd never get a G1 Arcee.
Then we did, and they were all pretty good, but many of them either had huge backpacks and kibble, or were shellformers...with huge back packs and kibble.
But I've recently come across two Arcee toys that, while still not perfect, not only avoid being shell-formers, and not only avoid having the massive backpacks, but also keep her robot mode accurate as well. Both are third part apparently, but still.
I'd have killed for these types of toys as a kid to be honest. I'm kinda jealous.
Same goes for classic Beast Wars Black Arachnia (I haven't checked out any Transmetal 2 versions of her), and her animated version as well.
I'd imagine the only toys that fail to proper look good are the Beast Machines toys, since they transformed in a very different manner.
One Strip! One Strip!Honestly, I think Titans Return Arcee is the best G1 toy for her. Good vehicle mode and a good take on the robot mode that distributes the kibble in a much better manner than the shell-forming WFC and slightly less shell-forming Generations figure. It being the version of her Headmaster form that we'd never really gotten before was a plus. The Blurr Titans Return mold was so good.
Real shame that TR Arcee was an exclusive. A pain in the ass to get a hold of seeing as Toys R Us tanked, but my local comic store had gotten a hold of her and sold her to me. Sadly said store went under a few months back due to covid.

I took a look at the Titans Return Arcee. It's pretty good, but it's also a remold of Blurr.
Still, I prefer the ones that are more accurate to whatever body she has for her series. Like I said, it impresses me that they can take G1 Arcee and make her look like Arcee in both Robot and Vehicle mode.
One Strip! One Strip!TR Arcee is a painful reminder of how far Hasbro will go to make sure that they make as few new molds as possible. It really stretches the limits as to what could be a repaint since Blurr and Arcee look nothing alike, yet somehow share a toy.

SKREEEEEEEONK!Eh. I think under the right circumstances, a Blur figure could make a good Arcee remold.
If she'd actually been animated in a vehicle form, I think that Blurr Mach 5-esque vehicle from from Animated would have made a good vehicle form for her beyond the one the toyline gave her.

One Strip! One Strip! That's too bad. I still really like the TR Blurr mold done up on Arcee. Robot mode still has a good Arcee flare to it but with the kibble more evenly distributed. The colors are great and the transformation is fun.
She makes me think of Generation's Scourge (the stealth bomber one). Where it goes a new route but takes enough recognizable elements of the character to make it work. And I also really love Generation's Scourge. Much better than TR Scourge.
So I asked one of these questions before, but I'm bringing it up again because the conversation kinda moved on:
1) Does Sari count as a pretender?
2) Would Silas / CYLAS count as a Power-Master?
3) Hell, could the concept of Mini-cons be seen as an extension or new interpretation of Power Masters and Head Masters, or some weird love child of the above two concepts and the cassettes bots that Soundwave and Blaster have?
One Strip! One Strip!1. Kinda, while she has a human alt-mode she’s never had a shell in either fiction or toy form, I would consider Minimus Ambus a Mega Pretender though.
2. Not quite, while Nemesis Prime is technically a Transtector, he doesn’t turn into its engine.
3. Mini-Cons have varied radically over the years, so one day they’ll probably retcon the old Headmasters and Targetmasters as Mini-Cons

SKREEEEEEEONK!Do transformers regularly have teeth?
I recall an old beast wars episode where Megatron may have spat out a tooth, but beyond that, I don't think it was a regular thing.
One Strip! One Strip! They generally have human mouths, teeth and all.
If you see them depends on the animation quality.

Huh. I thought so. I mean, they don't always eat (they do intake energon, but lately they seem to drink it, and I never got the feeling the energon cubes in the old series needed to be chewed), so I wasn't sure.
One Strip! One Strip!
