I once saw a poster with one celebrity birthday for every day of the year. For mine, August 31, they could only come up with Itzahk Perlman, classical violinist.

Off the top of my head, there's two Roman emperors, Buddy Hackett, and the first Jack the Ripper slaying.

True Grit is done. Now I can watch the 2010 remake without feeling guilty, AND it was also a really enjoyable film!

Now I am off to bed. Night, Cobs.

'Night, lera.

Cool site to find out who else shares your birthday. I get Georges Seurat, Monica Seles and Britney Spears, among others.

I share a birthday with folks like Richard the III. About the only name I recognized from the list.

Nobody too fascinating for me. King Philip I of France, Otto Lilienthal, and Drew Carey, mostly.

It's a good western Lera. Another really good one is Tombstone.

Got it, thanks Ori! I appear to be on a Western kick. Tomorrow I'm going to get up early and watch Shane because I liked the book so much.

Funny story abut Tombstone. It's the boyo's favorite movie, and any time he's sick he watches it. One day when he had a fever (this was before marriage) I came over to his apartment with juice, soup and other goodies. He was curled up in bed with the blanket pulled up to his nose. Tombstone was on his computer.

"What are you watching boyo?"

"Is tombstone. Best. Movie. Ever."

The way he said it was just so cute! :D Unfortunately I had class so I couldn't cuddle with him to watch it.

Hey Eddie, isn't our Other Invisible Fearless Leader involved with CERN somehow? (I think I remember something like that being said in passing sometime way back.) Any inside scoop sharable?

I have been given the task and the means for acquiring a new winter coat. My current winter coat is apparently only suitable for walking the dogs. (Note: This is not my opinion, however I am sadly lacking in girly genes.) I went looking for a new winter coat and everything in the women's department is stupid. If you were to slide off the road and have to walk further than 30 feet in a blizzard in one of these coats you would freeze to death.

Is there any reason it needs to be a girly coat? If not, I heartily endorse military surplus parkas.

I went to the men's department and found more suitable items. I'll go back tomorrow. And I hope to remember the cash this time.

Lonesome Dove is a mini-series. It has Robert Duvall. It is kind of Like Open Range in it's feel.

Gus was the CERN connection. Janitor's in Switzerland, but that's a pretty tenuous connection.

If we are getting a traversable fifth dimension, there will be all kinds of coolness to be had.

I haven't gone through and compiled a list, but the most famous person I know of off-hand that I share a birthday with is Stevie Wonder. (He was also born in the same year as my bio-dad, 1950.)
