My sister's dad tried making me use DOS a couple times when I was like five, I think. It didn't work out so well.

I remember the days of DOS commands.

I remember dig dug and the ancient art of war, and other assorted weird games. Pixels were big rectangles and we used dot matrix printers.cool

@Tuefel: Oh man, dot matrix printers... they were slow noisy low-resolution things. Their sound makes me nostalgic.

The network at work is under maintenance and it is really slow.

I am really starting to hate the lieing Corn Council ads about HFCS despite the fact we have proven they are full of shit.

I know I have cold for sure now. Its not even 2000 and I am ready for a 3 hour nap.

Enjoy your nap, Tuef. I hope you get better soon (if you do have a cold - hopefully you don't)!

I am hard at work making my yearly 4 inch rendition of my father. It is hilarious to watch his bald spot grow to cover the entire top of the fold as you go through the years. Least it is to me. Currently making his shirt. I have attached far too many pieces of yarn to a piece of construction paper to simulate the pattern of little stripe-ity things on his sweater. Not sure how I'm doing the dangle nooses. Probably just going to make his pants out of felt.

Sorry Spacey. :( Wasn't aware the evil was infectious over vast distances.

I feel so exhausted. The Dayquil pretty much quelled all the other issues including my discomfort and aches but it does nothing for the sheer exhaustion my body has from dealing with my unwelcome biological guests.

I just realized I forgot to take my thyroid supplements and my multi-vit today. again.

The alarm i have set on the phone is really really jarring to my tired body.

So, I may have found a potential source of income: the National Virtual Translation Center website.

The only problem is... I'd technically be working for the government.

...I don't know how I feel about this, honestly.

[up]What is wrong with that? Money is money.

I hope to land a government job someday myself.

It would be a means to an end Moony, if there isn't anything else that fits the standards of a job you need.

Government jobs aren't bad jobs, Moony. And it is just a means to an end. Any specific reason to refuse it?

No, I suppose not.

I just feel weird about working for the government. [lol]

Oh well, I'll go for it. Beggars can't be choosers, huh?

I am curious though, what other info do you have on this job? I'd like to hear it.

Mostly that it's government-run— the FBI, in particular, which puts me on edge— and it involves sitting at my computer and dutifully translating audio and texts. Whatever they'd give me.

Uh... some excerpts from the application form:

Terrorism, foreign counterintelligence, interstate criminal activity, organized crime, public corruption, civil rights violations, kidnapping, drug trafficking...investigating these crimes and others may all be part of your challenging career as a Contract Linguist with the FBI.

...

It could be months before your application is considered, and it normally takes one to two years to go through the complete applicant process from the time an applicant is selected.

...

Key Requirements:
...
* Willingness to renounce dual citizenship with a foreign country.

...

FBI Contract Linguists may be required to testify in court as to the accuracy of translated material.

...

Uh... fuck this. :/
